RYAN posted by Genevieve Schwinn on Sunday, September 14, 2003

I am interested in the William RYAN family who lived in Clark County, Missouri. He was born in New York. His parents Ireland.
They lived in Clay Township in 1900--1910--1920--and in 1930 they moved to Jackson Township. Maggie (???) Ryan was his wife. They were farmers. They had several children. Julie, William, Virgil. I believe they retired in Jackson. I would like to find a obituary to find out who his parents were, and a cemetary record. If this is the William I think it is the family was Catholic.
The William I am looking for left home to work on the Rail Road. His family lived at Tonganoxie, Kansas. My Grandfather was born in New York, His parents were killed in a accident. He was about 8 years old and was shipped by train to Tonganoxie (Leavenworth County) to live with his Uncle, Aunt and five cousins. William was one of the cousins. I have been working on this for years. I could never find anything on him. I don't know if this is him but it's the closest I have come. I want to find where in New York My Grandfather came from. I believe the families lived close.
Any help appreciated.
Sincerely,
Genevieve Schwinn herbschwinn@aol.com

FLANRY, HOWARD, LANGFORD, MARTIN, WRIGHT posted by Tom Howard on Friday, October 17, 2003

I am researching the descendants of John N. (1780-1843) and Susanna (FLANRY) HOWARD (1785-aft. 1850) who came to Clark County, Missouri in 1837.
One of their daughters, Phoebe (ca. 1809-ca. 1852), married John J. MARTIN in Harlan County, Kentucky on 27 June 1827. Along with most of the children of John N. and Susannah HOWARD, the MARTINs also chose to move to Missouri.
The MARTINs had the following children (w/approximate birthdates);
Rebecca 1834,
William 1836,
John 1837,
Phoebe 1844,
Jefferson Green 15 June 1846
Albert 1849.
The only information I have is on Dr. Jefferson Green MARTIN, who married Alice L. LANGFORD on May 13, 1873 and had at least 3 children who died in childhood in the 1870's and early 1880's.
After Phoebe (HOWARD) MARTIN's death, John J. MARTIN remarried his brother-in-law's, Adron A. HOWARD (1823-1848) widow, Elizabeth (WRIGHT) HOWARD (1828-1888). They had at least four children (w/approximate birthdates)-
Thomas W. 1855,
Moses 1856,
Herman M. 1857
Elizah 1867.
Probably there were at least two more sons, Perry G. 1859 and Wesley 1861. The children from the second marriage are unrelated to the HOWARD family, but their decedents may have information on their older half-siblings.
Any information on this family would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Tom Howard
