I am searching for background of Uriah S. GREGORY who was the sheriff of Clark Co. Mo 1837-42. He married Susan SEAMAN 29 of June 1837. She must have been his second wife as there were 5 children in the 1840 census. He was in Nevada City CA by 1852 with a hotel called Gregory House, 2 sons in law, wife Susan and a slave Julia. Looking for Clark Co, MO info for great-grandparents, Henry C. POLING & Ida A JONES. Ida is the daughter of blacksmith, Alfred C. JONES, of Newark, Mo. I am looking for information regarding the Thurston Montgomery NEWNHAM family of Clark County, MO. My grandfather Elmer Glidden LEWALLEN married his daughter Ruby C. NEWNHAM 7 Sep 1907 in Clark County. He married my grandmother seven years later in Henry County, Illinois. I believe that Ruby died at a very early age and am looking for information on death and burial of Ruby C. (NEWNHAM) LEWALLEN. I know the T. M. NEWNHAM and his wife M. A. (Mary Ann) are buried in Clark County as well as their son and another daughter who died at three days old.

RAINE family of Clark Co, MO I am interested in information on the William G. RAINE family who arrived in Clark CO., MO in March of 1851 from KY. There were several other RAINE families that preceded William RAINE's family to MO. William's Wife was Nancy PAWLEY. They had 4 children:
Laura Ann,
James Pawley,
Joseph Shelton,
John Wesley.
William died in May of 1852. His wife remarried by April of 1853. She married a man by the name of Henry Dickenson TULL. He was a widower with 10 children. I just came into possesion of copies of letters from Nancy to her family in KY, they span from 1851 to 1871. I am interested in any information on this family, as Nancy had a hard life. In late 1854 there were letters that stated that Nancy's children were having a difficult time with their new family and by August of 1856, they had been separated and were living with other families. The boy's were all with members of the RAINE family and Laura Ann was with a family by the name of DALE (Dail?).
My main inquiry is -- What became of Laura Ann. The letter of August 13, 1865, says that she had married a fine man, (no name listed){James G. Kennedy to Laura Ann Raine on Oct. 31, 1861} moved to Memphis and had 2 daughters by the names of Nancy Elizabeth and Margaret Ann. The final letter dated, July 1871 says she had moved to Nevada.
My Great-Grandfather Joseph Shelton and his brother James Pawley are buried less the 50 miles from my home. I'd really like to figure out who Laura Ann married and if she really ended up in Northern Nevada, as I have no record of her.
Other RAINE family members in MO, Joseph Shelton RAINE (William's father), Philip RAINE (William's cousin), George & James RAINE (William's brother's, I believe). I'd appreciate any assistance you might be able to offer. Thank you very much for any help you might offer.

I am searching for information on Adam BAILEY, who is listed in the 1850 Census, 19th district, Clark Co., MO., on the MO 1850 CD Index. Is their anyone who has access to the "original" Clark Co. Census, who could help me? Adam BAILEY, would be my G Grandfather, and his son, Colonel Ellsworth BAILEY, my Grandfather. Trying to locate the family of David and Nancy (?) ANTHONY. They moved to Alexandria, Missouri in the fall of 1857/1858. Henry ANTHONY, David's father, died about 1858 in Banks of Mississippi, Clark Co., Missouri. Trying to find the birth of my great granduncle, John W. ANTHONY, born about 1871. His parents were John ANTHONY and Mary Elizabeth MILHOAN both born in Ohio. I believe at the time of his birth, John and Mary were living in Jackson Co., West Virginia. His older brother, Leonard Jefferson ANTHONY was born in Jackson Co., West Virginia as well as his younger siblings.

JAMES/SPENCER; Clark Co., Missouri, U. S. A.; about 1877. I'm looking for a book titled "Outlaws of The Fox River Country", reprinted by "The Kahoka Gazette-Herald" in 1963. This publication contains information about my great grandmother's sister's family. The William Lewis SPENCER family was murdered in Luray, Missouri on August 3rd of 1877 by an ax murderer, who was never found. Mrs. SPENCER [Maranda JAMES, daughter of Daniel & Eve FIFER JAMES] had died a few years prior to this tragic event involving her husband and four children. The family is buried in a small church cemetery in Luray, MO. My great grandmother's brother Willis JAMES was tried and acquitted of the murder, as were others. I would appreciate anyone knowing how I might obtain a copy of this book, responding to this query. Thank you for any assistance. Grace
