This page is a log of major changes to the Dallas County, Missouri,
MOGenWeb site, with the exception of the frequent additions to the
Dallas Co. MO Message Boards
and Surnames
pages, and minor corrections. Check here often to see what has been
added or improved. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Fixed broken (obsolete) links to USGenWeb and MOGenWeb pages on the
Home Page.
26 Oct 2008
Updated the navigation bar at the tops and bottoms of all pages to make
it more clearly indicate which section of the site you are in.
Fixed or removed broken (obsolete) links in the
Web Links
section pages.
Fixed broken (obsolete) links to the Bureau of Land Management,
General Land Office Records, in the Township/Range pages of the
Federal Land Patents
section.
Fixed some broken links and added new ones for Dallas Co.
Topological Maps, Missouri Supreme Court Database,
and Post Offices in Dallas County to the
Dallas County Web Links page.
Added arguments to the Topozone URLs to display map coordiates
in decimal degrees rather than UTM format, and large rather than small
scale, on the
Cemetery Maps page.
(These coordinates should help people locate them with GPS
devices, and the larger size should be more helpful, showing
more context, when printed.)
Added material about the companies of the Osage Regt.,
Missouri Home Guards formed in Dallas County, and some
additional men in the Dallas County Home Guards from the 1890
census, contributed by Rick Gregg to the
Civil War Home Guards Roster.
26 Nov 2004
Added links to the Missouri Secretary of State Archives
Soldiers Database: War of 1812 - World War I
for the Dallas County Home Guards and Capt. Noah Bray's Dallas
County E.M.M.,
and added a link to Dallas County citizens
suspected of being Confederate citizens or sympathizers
on the
Dallas County Web Links page.
Added
Federal Land Patents pages to the
Research Sources section.
This include indices for Township/Range locations, surnames and
decades, a map of Dallas Co. with the Township, Range and Section
grid lines and a section grid.
Corrected the locations for Antioch Cemetery and Maddux
Cemetery on the Cemetery Maps
page. (Thanks to Linda Crawford.)
24 Jul 2004
Added Polk County, Missouri Deed Books A&B
(which covers Dallas Co. before 1841) to the
Genealogy Publications page.
New link to Dallas County, 1860, map in the Dallas County Maps
section of the
Dallas County Related Sites Web Links page.
Updated link to Missouri State Archives, Birth and Death Records
(pre-1909) on the
Dallas County Related Sites Web Links page. This site is now
searchable and does not require a PDF viewer.
01 Aug 2002
New photos in the
Historical Photos section, many contributed by Karen Shapiro.
Photo pages now launch in separate window instead of being
trapped inside a frame, making them easier to view and print.
26 Jul 2002
Major facelift replacing all pages on this site with a new
look and feel. The text on the old colored pages were too hard
to read and not very color printer friendly. The new design
places the navigation toolbar on the top and bottom of each
page, with a color bar to indicate which section you are in.
Also renamed some pages to make the URLs more consistent, and
fixed miscellaneous broken links and other nits.
Added Billy Burgess as a volunteer for more publications on the
Lookups page.
24 Jun 2002
Updated and
put links to Dallas Co. Records from the Office of the Secretary
of State in their own section on the
Web Links page. Also added some tips
for viewing PDF documents as HTML using www.google.com.
Added a link to the Dallas Co. GenForum on the
Queries and Boards page. (I'm sick of the pop-ups ads on
the RootsWeb/Ancestry.com Message Boards, one of the worse
errors one can commit in web site design, showing total
disrespect for the users, and an excellent way to lose your
audience.)
Added
Early Days in Dallas County to the
Lookups page.
05 Jan 2001
Added
The Civil War Letters of Albert Demuth and Roster Eighth Missouri
Volunteer Cavalry and
Nine Months in the Infantry Service - The Civil War Journal of R. P.
Matthews to the
Lookups page.
Removed list of Dallas County newspapers available on
microfilm from the State Historical Society of Missouri
on the
Research Sources - Newspapers
page.
A representative of the society claims the list was from a
copyrighted publication and objected to listing what issues are
available.
Also removed all other references to the SHSM on the links
page, etc.
