TUNAS School Graduates

Eighth grade diplomas were issued May 12 to Mae Watkins, Iva Tucker, Charles Stidham, Grover Morton, Harry Alexander, Dottie Starkey, Zelphia Fowler, Maxine Lee, Marion Wheeler, Margret Tripps, Marjorie Tripps. Graduates from Tunas High School were: Chloe Cusick, Paul Glor, Lillian Kirk, Junior Grant, Helen Sliagerland, Pearl Kirk, Ruth Morton, Irena Harmon, Ruth Alexander, Bethel Jackson, Boyce Reser, Sophie Smith.

DEATHS

In Memory

In loving memory of our dear father and husband, EARNEST ALBERT HARRIS, who passed away one year ago last February … Sadly missed by his wife and children, Mrs. Minnie Harris, Glen and Jean.

MRS. VIVIAN ANDREWS HELTON

Mrs. Vivian Andrews Helton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Andrews, was born Oct. 3, 1929, and departed this life May 17, 1938, at the age of 17 years, 8 months and 14 days of age. She was fatally injured in an automobile accident Sunday, May 15. Vivian was a graduate of the Louisburg High School in the class of 1938 …

She has had a short and happy married life. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Helton, her father and mother, and one brother, Warren Dale, 3 years of age. She was preceded in death by one sister, Calista, and one brother, Leslie James.

Funeral services were held at the Buffalo Christian Church Friday May 20. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

JEMIMA E. JUMP

Jemima E. Jump was born June 23, 1859 near Pittsburg, in Hickory County, Mo., and departed this life March 17, 1938 at her home near Sentinel, Polk County, Mo., where she had resided for more than half a century.

She was the daughter of John and Sarah jump and was one of a family of twelve children, nine girls and three boys.

She was united in marriage to John Rentfrow Oct. 1876. To this union 4 children were born; one son, Oliver Lee, died in infancy. The other surviving children are: Mrs. Sadie West, Walsh, Colo., John W. Rentfrow, of Bolivar, Mo., and Jim R. Rentfrow, of Borger, Texas (twins).

Mr. Rentfrow preceded her in death several years ago. She was again married to Mr. Smeltzer, later to Mr. Richardson, then later to Mr. Matlock, who survives her.

WILLIAM LAVANDER MOULDER

William Lavander Moulder, one of the oldest citizens of Camden County, died suddenly Monday nite May 16, and was laid to rest in the Roach Cemetery Thursday, May 10 with Masonic honors.

Mr. Moulder was born in Camden County Sept. 18, 1957 (sic), and was a little over 80 years of age at the time of his death.

Vander Moulder …

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Granville Moulder. He was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Cyrus March 1, 1883. To this union was born 8 children, the widow and 6 children surviving him. The living children are: Roscoe, of Kansas City; Elbert of Red Top; Claude, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lillie Campbell of Windsor; and Odessa McFarland of Kansas City.

MRS. MADELINE ORMSBEE

A heart attack caused the death Sunday, May 22, 1938 of Mrs. Madeline Ormsbee, 36, at her home in Springfield, Mo. Mrs. Ormsbee was a former president of the American Legion auxiliary, the wife of Clyde H. Ormsbee, former commander of Goad-Ballinger Legion post in Springfield,

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter Betty Lee; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Gammon of Louisburg; a brother, Dr. Claude O. Gammon of Buffalo; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Franchier of Nardin, Oklahoma, and Mrs. L. Doolin Gorman, of Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Herman Lohmeyer funeral chapel with burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. (this funeral home and cemetery are in Springfield, MO)

We are sorry to hear of the death of Rev. C. E. Hunt. Gladys Brown visited over the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Cusick.

Mr. and Mrs. Victor Clyde spend Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cager Howerton.

TWILIGHT

Mrs. Alma Dame is visiting this week with an uncle, Otto Richardson, near Lebanon.

Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Anglin spend Saturday night with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Effice Anglin.

OLIVE BRANCH

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tucker, of Treece, Kansas are spending a few days with his brother, W. M. Tucker and family. Both families plan to spend Wednesday with their sister, Mrs. A. Guthrie at Morrisville, Mo.

SCHOFIELD

John Viles fell Wednesday and broke his arm and leg in several places. He was taken to the hospital in Humansville, He died on Thursday. Funeral services were conducted at Schofield Sunday by Rev. Clarence Salsman.

Mrs. Clarence Lilly and children spent Wednesday nite with her daughter, Maxine Nicodemus.

PRAIRIE VIEW

Mr. and Mrs. Bunch Davis are visiting her mother, Mrs. Lizzie Alderson. Mrs. Davis has the measles.

Sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Wayne Helton, who died St. John's Hospital in Springfield last Tuesday morning.

BOOTH

Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Barclay are the proud parents of a son, born Tuesday. Mrs. Barlcay will be remembered as Miss Kathern Burns.

Mrs. Renthie Harmon is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jewell Maddux and caring for her and her son, Dale, who have the measles.

Cal Jones and wife, of Nebraska, and Mrs. Mary Brown, of Arizona, arrived early Sunday morning to be at the bedside of their father, Rev. A. J. Johns, who succumbed Monday at 12:15 a.m. after a week's illness. We extend sympathy to Mrs. Jones and Thelma.

JUG TOWN

Walter Bishop visited last week with his sister, Mrs. Blanche Hunter and family of Linn Creek.

Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Urie visited Sunday in the home of her sister, Mrs. D. T. Kirk and family.

BENTON BRANCH

We are sorry to report that Mrs. Sam Jasper is ill at present. Her sister, Mrs. Bertha Swigert is staying with her. Mrs. Clarence Gaunt returned home after spending Saturday and Saturday night with her mother, Mrs. Sam Jasper.

Lorene Johnson returned home Sunday after a two weeks visit with her brother, Bertrum Johnson at Lees Summit, Mo.

D. Boone Osborn and son-in-law Lonnie Waters visited in the Vance home Friday.

Mrs. Bertha Swigert was called Sunday to the bed side of her sister, Mrs. Jannie Jasper, who is ill.

Tom Finley spent awhile Sunday afternoon in the home of Frank Dibben.

This community was sorry to hear of the death of Uncle Ike Hanna and extends their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved.

The following women gathered at the home of Aunt Rachel Haney and cleaned her house and washed for her Friday. They were: Mrs. Frank Strickland, Mrs. Belzora Austin, Mrs. Ruby Eddingfield and daughter Mildred, Mrs. Henry Swigert and daughter Mary, Mrs. Rose Lynch and daughter Opal, Mrs. Mary Swift and mother Aunt Lizzie Hill, Mrs. Bertha Swigert and Mrs. Dellie Dibben. Aunt Rachel is not feeling very much better at this time.

Mrs. Oscar Belt spent awhile Friday evening with Mrs. Dellie Dibben.

Mrs. Mary Swift called awhile Thursday evening to see Dellie Dibben.

Calvin Hicks spent a short time Sunday with Frank Dibben.

Tom Finley spent awhile Sunday with Oles Swigert.

Miss Marjory Sturdevant spent a few days with her aunt, Josie Burtin this last week.

Mrs. Oles Swigert and children spent Wednesday with Mrs. Bertha Swigert.

Charley Hanna received word that they operated on his wife for gallstones and that she was getting along as well as could be expected. She is in Kansas City in a hospital.

Goldie Swift spent awhile Tuesday evening with his aunt, Mary Swift.

BRESHEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Palmer and son, Larry, visited Wednesday and Thursday with her parents, J. H. Breshears and family.

Miss Ruth Price spent from Wednesday until Sunday visiting her sister, Mrs. Morel Gaunt and husband.

Here we are again and still raining. Makes grass and weeds grow. Farmers are getting behind with their work.

Billy Wayne Howe visited Sunday with Herman, Willard Lee and J. T. Pitts.

Mr. Morel Gaunt lost a good milk cow one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Palmer and son Larry, visited Wednesday and Thursday with her parents, J. H. Breshears and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Payne, Mrs. Irvin Strickland were visiting at Windyville Sunday evening.

Riley Breshears spent from Tuesday until Sunday visiting at the home of his brother, George Breshears and family.

Miss Ruth Price spent from Wednesday until Sunday visiting her sister, Mrs. Morel Gaunt and husband.

Tom tucker of Picher, Oklahoma was in our office Monday. Tom is a former citizen of Dallas County, but has been way for several years. Miss Eloise Calloway returned to her home last Saturday. She has been teaching in the Ironton, Mo., High School the past year.

J. H. Bennett of Long Lane visited with his daughter, Mrs. John R. Huff and family Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Routh and daughter, Ardenell, and Kenneth Scott, from Carthage, Mo., were guests Saturday night and Sunday of their daughter, Mrs. Wayne Owensby and husband.

Mrs. Queen Deer, Buffalo, Mo., spent the week visiting her mother, Mrs. S. L. Fogleman and Mr. Fogleman, 1726 Appleton and her aunt, Mrs. L. D. Farran and family 1209 N. 21st Parsons, Kansas Sun.

Mr. and Mrs. Edd Shaw and son and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mackentosh and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Shaw and two sons and daughter of Springfield were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shaw.

DEER - FOLGEMAN

Announcement is made of the marriage of Mrs. Vinnie Deer and S. L. Folgeman, Parsons. May 14, at Erie by the Rev. L. C. Swan. Mrs. Fogleman who is a sister of Mrs. L. D. Farran, owned and operated the Deer hotel at Buffalo for 15 years. Mr. Fogelman is a retired school teacher, farmer and rural mail carrier in this vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Fogleman are planning a honeymoon in Alaska. They now are at home to their friends at 1726 Appleton.

Notes: This was from the Parsons Kansas Sun. to the Dallas County Republican. Various spellings of Fogleman are left as they were in article.

JONES - OMANS

Miss Marie Jones and Mr. Ralph R. Omans, both of Springfield, were united in marriage at the Baptist parsonage Saturday noon, May 21. Rev. E. H. Michalwoksy read the ring ceremony. After a honeymoon trip on the Lake of the Ozarks, they will make their home in Springfield where the groom has employment.

FAREWELL SUPPER

A large crowd of friends and relatives gathered in the John Bailey home Tuesday evening May 18 and set a nice supper in honor of Ray Scrivener and family, Billy Stickley and family and Cecil Furgeson who left Wednesday morning May 19 for Washington.

BIRTHDAY DINNER

Last Sunday Wayne Owensby was honored on his birthday with a fine dinner set at Bennetts Spring State Park
