Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Swift and family have moved to the Ben Harrison place. Litton Swift who goes to high school now rides our bus.
The Clem Strickland family reunion was held at the old home place northeast of Buffalo Sunday and all eight children were there. It was the first time they had all been together for over ten years.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. John Engle, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Strickland and son Bob and daughter Gloria Ellen, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Strickland and little son, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Strickland, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Strickland, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Strickland, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Evans, Claud Strickland and family, Mr. and Mrs. Benton Louderbaugh and sons Earl and John and Francis Wilson of Parsons, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Engle of Bolivar came in the afternoon, also Mary Stinecipher.
Sunday, May 4, was the date of the annual in gathering of the Tinsley family at the home of Mrs. Mary Tinsley near Charity. This reunion was held at this season because of the national convention of the Christian Churches in St. Louis which is in session from May 1 to May 7, brought a number of the family to St. Louis. Hence, those who were delegates to the convention slipped away over Sunday and the rest of the family came, so that the ten children were with their mother on that day.
Rev. and Mrs. Neal K. McGowan of Fresno, Calif., Rev. and Mrs. George Tinsley of Georgetown, Ky., Rev. and Mrs. Herbert Tinsley of Warsaw, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. John Tinsley and three daughters from Carthage, Mrs. Arthur Aldridge from Kinta, Okla., Mrs. P. Kay Scruggs of Pawhuska, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Amos Tinsley from Sikeston, Mo., Mrs. P. A. Bennett and Miss Mary Edith Bennett from Springfield, Ellis Tinsley and his son, John Rush Tinsley, from Carthage, and Mrs. Ethel Knight enjoyed the happy fellowship of the day together.
Note: This may be the family of John Henry Tinsley and Mary Elizabeth Hendrickson.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Powell of Kansas City attended the Hog Eye picnic and visited relatives in Buffalo, over the week end, including Gordon Bennett and Howard H. Johnson. Mr. Powell reports his mother, Aunt Josie Powell, who lives with them, is as well as could be expected for one of her age. She is the widow of the late Rev. J. G. Powell.
Mrs. Elizabeth Dean, wife of W. G. Dean, passed away at her home in north Buffalo at 11 a. m. Tuesday, July 29, 1941, at the age of 70 years. She was a lifelong resident of Buffalo and vicinity. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be at Prairie Grove.
Note: The above "obituary" is really just an announcemant of Mrs. Dean's passing which happened just two days before this edition of the Reflex was published. Usually a more extensive obituary will follow in the next edition of the paper, in this case the August 7, 1941 edition.
