James Whitney died May 15th of Typhoid Pneumonia at his residence in Miller Township. He was one of the first settlers of Miller Township having lived on the farm for about thirty years. Whitney was a man well respected by all who knew him and leaves a wife and large family to mourn his departure.
The two-year old daughter of Llewellyn Wooden died last Monday evening of measles. Mr Wooden recently came here from Michigan, with the view of locating, and is temporarily residing with Frank Graham, one mile west of town. There are three other members of the family confined to bed with the measles.
Our young friend Abe Goldsworthy called Saturday and squared his subscription. He informs us that he and John Keck, with their families, will start for Hand County, Dakota, where they will reside in the future, while his father Mathew Goldsworthy will leave for Carroll County, MO., to reside permanently. They are good citizens and the Reflex regrets very much to lose them. Sarah Finley & Abe Goldsworthy married March 15, 1885.
J.H. White called Tuesday ... he informed us that his brother, John White, who has been attending Medical College at Cincinnati, Ohio, since the first of January is expected home in a few days.
Mary Elizabeth 13 year old daughter of G. W. Strickland died last Saturday.

Surgeons removed from Mrs. George Clark a 90 lb. Ovarian tumor.
The dead body of James Randleman, a farmer who resided in the east part of the county, was found lying in the road leading from Long Lane to Phillipsburg, last Saturday morning. He was hauling a load of Rail Road ties to Phillipsburg, and while descending a hill was thrown forward to the ground, across the road. The wagon wheels passed over his legs and neck, killing him instantly. We understand that an inquest was held over the remains, the jury returning a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
We learn from Sole Finley, who was in the neighborhood at the time that on one day last week a little daughter of Mr. Mason, a new-comer, who resides near Legan's Mill, was fatally scalded by a kettle of wash water turning over on her. The little sufferer died in great agony in a few minutes afterwards. Mr. Finley further informs us that the team of Wash Eskew of Jasper Twp., took fright at something and ran away. Mr. Eskew held on until the wagon was overturned beneath which he was dragged for some distance and sustained very serious injury.
A sad accident happened at Albert Bailey's last Friday morning. Mrs. Bailey is sick and one of the little boys
aged two years, was sleeping with the hired girl. When the girl arose to do her work the child was left alone
and when next found was hanging by the neck between the headboard and rail of the bedstead. Life was extinct.
The little fellow got into such a shape he could make no outcry and choked to death instantly.

We are sorry to hear that Z. T. Strickland, formerly of this place, but now circuit clerk of Webster county, is dangerously sick with measles. Since putting the foregoing in Type we learn that Mr. Strickland breathed his last on Saturday morning at his home in Marshfield. Deceased was a most estimable gentleman and beloved by those who knew him, and leaves a wife, two step-children and a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. Mrs. Strickland and the fatherless children have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends here.
Rev George Suiter of Benton died last Thursday.
Obit Alice Burns age 19 died leaving one daughter and a husband.
Youngest daughter of Isaac N. & Lucy J. Reser, Myrtle died Lizzie 2y 11m 2d.
William Poynter died 80y 3m 10d. He was born 1805 Kentucky came to Laclede Co in 1853 & on to Dallas Co in 1856 where he farmed.
