ZELLMER, Gary Warren 1939-2009 Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Bates Co, MO Kansas City Star, Kansas City, MO, Jan 28 2009 Gary Warren Zellmer, 69, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Jan. 26, 2009, with his wife and friends by his side. He was born Sept. 20, 1939, in Freeman, Mo., to Lester and Edith Zellmer with two older brothers, Gene and Dee Zellmer. He was married to Carol (Potts) Zellmer and to this union were born two sons, Steven and Randall. Gary spent most of his adult life in Kansas City as a proud firefighter for the KCFD and a member of IAFF Local 42. Gary became a firefighter in 1965 and retired in 1994, after 30 years of service, the last 16 years on Pumper 8 at 16th and Locust. Gary married Liz Zellmer on Nov. 3, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nev. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, Gene and son, Randall. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Zellmer, son, Steven Zellmer and wife Carrie, grandsons, Trevor and Dominic, stepson, Tom Alexander and wife Lisa, granddaughter, Katie, stepson, KCFD Capt. Brian Alexander and wife Stacey, granddaughters, Marie and Lilly, brother, Lester "Dee" Zellmer and wife Nancy, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. ZELLMER, James Rhett 1976-1997 Howell Cemetery, Amoret, Elkhart Twp, Bates Co, MO News-Xpress, Butler, MO, Friday, Aug 8 1997 James Rhett Zellmer, 21, Amoret, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997 on Route 18 West of Adrian, Mo., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Services were held Aug. 4 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, Mo. Burial in Adam Howell Cemetery, Virginia, Mo. Mr. Zellmer was born in Butler March 10, 1976 to Ronald Arthur and Linda Ann Brewster Zellmer. One of two children, he attended Adrian High School where he graduated in 1994. He attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield for two years with plans to attend Longview Community College in Kansas City, Mo., this fall. His part-time work experience included summer employment at Nelson Weatherites in Lenexa, Kan., and McDowell Enterprises in Butler. While attending college he worked in the psychology department. His most recent employment was with the Oakland Group Home in Harrisonville, Mo. He was baptized at the age of 12 in Powell, Mo. He leaves his mother of the home; his father of Butler; a sister, Allison Zellmer, Columbia, Mo.; maternal grandparents Irene and Odel Welliver, Adrian; paternal grandparents Art and Mary Zellmer, Butler; several uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walter Brewster and an uncle, James Walter Brewster.
ZELLMER, Ronald Arthur 1948-2003 Howell Cemetery, Amoret, Elkhart Twp, Bates Co, MO News-Xpress, Butler, MO, Friday, Jan 17 2003 Ronald Arthur Zellmer, 54, Butler, Mo., died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. Services were Jan. 14 at the Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home, Butler. Interment in Adam Howell Cemetery. Mr. Zellmer was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Butler to Art and Mary Butler Zellmer. He married Ellen Besendorfer on April 25, 1992. He attended Adrian, Mo., schools, then Miami schools where he graduated as valedictorian. E attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg before joining the United States Air Force. He loved the outdoors and was an avid camper, hunter, and fisherman, as long as his health permitted. He worked as a union carpenter until his health forced him to retire in 1989. He was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 777. Mr. Zellmer was preceded in death by a son, James Rhett Zellmer. He leaves his wife, Ellen Zellmer of Butler; a daughter, Allison Oates and husband Heath, Adrian, Mo.; his parents of Butler; a brother, David Zellmer and wife Elaine, Amsterdam, Mo.; and a sister, Deborah K. Edmonds and husband Don, Nevada, Mo.
ZINN, Catherine Prather 1816-1896 The Caney Weekly Times, Caney, Montgomery Co, KS, Aug 28 1896 Died in this city, Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at the residence of William Zinn, Mrs. Catherine Zinn, aged 80 years. "Grandma" Zinn was born in Kentucky January 1, 1816. She was left a widow about 11 years ago. She moved from Kentucky to Missouri in 1853, where she lived until about one year ago, when she came to visit her sons and daughters who live at this place, some at Elk City and Longton and one son in the Territory; also her nephew, Wm. Martin, who lives on Cheyenne, northeast of town. The remains were shipped yesterday to Butler, Bates county, Mo., for interment. Her sons, John and George Zinn, and her son-in-law, Samuel Ruble, of Elk City, accompanied the remains to their last resting place. -- Aunt Katie Zinn died at the home of her son, William Zinn, Indian Territory, on Thursday. The remains were brought home Friday and laid to rest in the Howell graveyard.
ZINN, Frances Saloma HARE 1857-1942 Bates County Democrat, Butler, MO Francis Saloma Hare, daughter of P. S. and Susannah Hare, was born in Ross County Ohio June 7, 1857, and departed this life July 17, 1942, having reached the age of 85 years 1 month and 10 days. At the age of 7 years she came to Missouri with her parents and made their home on the state line west of Amoret. She was united in marriage to George W. Zinn. To this union was born twelve children, six of whom preceded her in death. Her husband also preceded her in death. She leaves the following children to mourn the loss of a loving mother; John P. Zinn, Milford, Mo.; Abe Zinn, Olathe, Kan.; Albert Zinn, Foster, Mo.; Susie Bolling, Adrian, Mo.; Alma Norman, Amoret, Mo.; Gladys Jackson, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Also one stepdaughter, Artie B. Noah, and a stepson, James Zinn, both of Sapulpa, Ok. She had forty-six grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and fourteen step grandchildren. She has one sister, Mrs. T. P. Reece of Ontario, Calif., and one brother, J. B. Hare of Deer Lodge, Mont. She was united with the Primitive Baptist church at an early age and remained faithful to her belief until death called her. She was always a loving mother to her children and will be sadly missed by all. Mrs. Gordon Hoffman and son Jimmie, and Misses Opal and Velma Norman of Chicago attended the funeral of their Grandmother Zinn, which was held Sunday afternoon.

George Zinn Dead - George Zinn, who was one of the oldest residents of the western part of the county, died at his home near Amsterdam Monday after a protracted illness with Bright's disease. Funeral services and interment at Adam Howell cemetery. Mr. Zinn was the father of 15 children, ten of whom survive, and has 56 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had been a resident of Bates county since before the Civil War, having settled in Bates county in 1853. He was 78 years and 11 months of age. He had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church for the past 22 years.
ZINN, George Washington 1846-1925 Bates County Democrat, Butler, MO, Apr 2 1925 Charlotte Flashes - Two old settlers called to the other shore; George Zinn died Sunday evening. He was 78 years old. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday. Burial in the Howel cemetery.
