Rob Roy Kagarice, 72, Spruce, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City. He was born March 28, 1939, to Charles Elmer and Eva Harriett Groce Kagarice in Urich. Rob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Kagarice of Spruce; one son, Roy Kagarice and wife, Cindy, Spruce; three daughters, Carol Bright and husband Gene, Tina Oerke and husband Neale, and Beverly Ward and husband Mike, all of Spruce; one brother, John Kagarice and wife Betty, Peculiar; a sister-in-law, Ruby Kagarice of Harrisonville; one brother-in-law, Jim Snodgrass and wife Julie, Holden; 10 grandchildren, Charity and husband Troy Engelhardt, Cole and wife Tina Kagarice, Jesse Kagarice and fiancee Jayme McManus, Shanie Kagarice and fiancee Keith Mitchelle, Lacie Kagarice, Lane, Weston, Garrett and Kale Oerke and Lexie Ward, and four great-grandchildren, Tanner Webber, Lily Kagarice, Hayden Engelhardt and Harper Mitchelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Charles Edward, Don, Jack, Carl, Gene and Walter, and three sisters, Hazel Smith, Emma Cooley and Mildred Leavell. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 15, at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. Burial will be in Radford Cemetery, Spruce.

John Ferd Kasper was born on March 24, 1936, to Ferdinand and Gertrude Pankratz Kasper at Cordell, Okla. He passed away in the Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Mo., on June 27, 2007, reaching the age of 71 years. Most of his growing-up years were in the Winton, Calif., area. On Sept. 19, 1954, he was married to Vinieta Merkey, at Edmond, Okla. They shared life's joys and sorrows for 52 years. He was blessed with two sons and four daughters. He lived for a few months in Oklahoma, then moved to California, where he resided for nearly 17 years. His mother had passed away when he was 12 years of age. Since he was the oldest of the children in the family, he felt a keen responsibility for his brothers. They lived with him for some time while he resided in California. Welding and mechanic work were his main occupations. The last 33 years he lived at various places in Missouri. In August of 1965 John was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, at Winton, Calif. He encountered struggles in his Christian life; but a few days before his passing he left his testimony of being ready to meet Jesus. John's grandchildren were special to him. He encouraged them to make right choices in life. He enjoyed fishing with them, as well as other activities. He often gave them money for Christmas or birthdays. He loved singing and music of any kind, often joining in. Those left to cherish precious memories are his loving wife Vinieta; his sons, John W., of Dederick, Mo., Bruce and wife, Kathy, of Weatherford, Okla., his daughters, Ethel and husband, Monroe Koehn, of Moundridge, Kan., Karen and husband, of Owens Crossroads, Ala., Dorothy Covey, and Pearl Rasper, of Schell City; 17 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank and wife, Patricia, George and wife, Janice, Donald and wife, Anne, Roy and wife, Carol all of California. Those who preceded him in death were his parents, one sister, one grandson, and one infant niece. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, at the Living Faith Mennonite Church in Walker. Damon Kenneth Kearns - December 20, 1932 - January 1, 2009. Damon Kenneth Kearns, 76 of Drexel, Mo., passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Topeka, Kan. Damon was born December 20, 1932 in Drexel, a son of George Kenneth and Helen Alice (Russell) Kearns Converse. He attended Drexel school and on March 18, 1954, he married Frances Holt in Drexel; she survives. After graduation, he entered the Air Force, where he served for four years before being honorably discharged. Damon loved music, and very much enjoyed playing the mandolin. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of Drexel; his children, Damona Lee Parks of Raymore, Mo., and Darren Kenneth Kearns of Overland Park, Kan., his grandson, Daniel Lee Parks of Kansas City, Mo., and two sisters, Charleene Ristuben and Shirley Heglar, both of Spokane, Wa. Additional survivors include two uncles, one aunt, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service with full military honors will be Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Sharon Cemetery near Drexel.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and two adopted children, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dickey of Butler, after which she was laid to rest in the Radford cemetery.

Karl T. Keller, passed away on Oct. 22, 2007, at Alexandria Hospital. He was born in Nevada, to Karl E. and Lulu Keller. A dedicated Marine Crops Aviator, Col., Keller served 28 years, which included World War II, Korea, and Vietnam wars, retiring in 1970. He continued his love for flying as a pilot with several companies until 1996. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willadean. He is survived by his beloved wife Joan; two sons, Karl M. and Robert G. Keller; two grandchildren, Bree Keller, and Karl W. Keller; one brother, William R. Keller. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 100 W. Luray St., Alexandria, Va. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with Full Military Honors, on Tuesday, Dec. 4.

Gladys Delma Kenney passed away May 25, 2007, at Bates County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Nov. 15, 1910, in Rich Hill, to Claude McQuitty and Hilda Schultz McQuitty. Gladys graduated Rich Hill High School in 1929. She was united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1936, to Marvin Kenney in Stockton, Mo., and to this union three children were born. Marvin and Gladys were farmers west of Rich Hill for many years. During this time, she raised chickens, took care of her family and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She moved to Rich Hill in the late 1970s. During retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and games with her grandchildren and doing crossword puzzles. She was full of knowledge and history and many enjoyed listening to her stories. She was very independent and was still living on her own and cooking for her grandchildren several times a week. She was known for her famous cherry pies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her parents, one sister, Naomi, and one daughter, Lois. She is survived one son, Wayne, and one daughter, Dixie and husband Terry Hoeper, all of Rich Hill; seven grandchildren, Wendy Kenney, Lisa Sumner, Larry McCoy Jr.; Lori McCoy, Lynn Gronniger, Chris Beshore and Natalen Westerhold; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 29, at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill. Interment was in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill.

Ronald "Ronnie" Duane Kershner, age 64 of Amoret, Missouri died Sunday, September 30, 2007. He was born February 1, 1943 to Stanley Budford and Naomi March Kershner in Butler, Missouri. Ronnie, one of two boys, grew up in and attended Mt. Vernon Grade School in rural Butler. He graduated from Butler High School in 1960. As a young man, Ronnie put up hay for local farmers and worked at Apco Filling Station during his high school years. In 1960 Ronnie and his brother Wayne purchased a flooring company and named it R & W Flooring. On May 20, 1962 he was united in marriage to Sue Cumpton at the Ohio Street Methodist Church inn Butler. Most of Ronnie's working career was spent as a laborer on the assembly line at General Motors Leeds Plant, retiring in 1993 after 24 years of dedicated service. Ronnie was kind hearted, quiet, reserved and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle, vegetable gardening, keeping track of Royals baseball and working with his cattle on the farm. Barbecue chicken was his cooking specialty. His grandchildren were very important to him and he rarely missed any of their sporting activities. Ronnie's proudest accomplishment was his children and he was very proud of them. Ronnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sue Kershner of Amoret, Missouri; one son, Michael Kershner and wife Lee Ann of Butler, Missouri; one daughter, Chelle Black and husband Kevin of Butler, Missouri; his mother Naomi Kershner of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Wayne Kershner and wife Carol of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren, Tyler Black and wife T. J., Brady Black and wife Brooke, Seth Black, Kylee Eidson and Jude Kershner; and two great-grandchildren, Kobe and Daylan. He was preceded in death by his father.

Clara Link Kienberger 99 passed away March 18, 2008 at Aberdeen Village, where she had been a resident for 10 months. Clara was born November 6, 1908, daughter of Joseph Martin Link and Katherine Hegnauer Link on a farm in Bates County, Missouri. There, she attended a small country school and the German Reform Church. As a young girl, her responsibilities were to help with farm chores and the household baking. She eventually left the farm to work at Russell's variety store in Butler, MO. After marrying her husband, Lawrence E. Kienberger in 1942, they moved to Kansas City, where they made their home. Clara was a devoted wife to Lawrence with whom she spent 46 years. The center of their lives was always church and family. Clara was employed in Montgomery Ward's credit union prior to having their only child. In later years she worked for the Center school district. Once her daughter was born, days were filled with volunteering at school, church and assisting neighbors. Her home was warm, spotless and welcoming to everyone. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother offering support to all her family. She loved people and they in turn loved her. She was a member of the Messiah Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the choir, served as past Women's Fellowship president, knitted children's caps for charities and baked pies and cakes for many occasions. Clara is survived by her daughter Kathy Peterson and husband Jay Peterson; grandchildren Greg and his wife Erinn Barcomb Peterson, Amy and Alicia Peterson; nieces Ruby Mae Lankford and Charlene Smith; nephew, Hugh Kienberger. She was preceded in death by her husband and the following siblings; Alma Mina Link, Roland Joseph Link, Ruth Marie Wilson, Edwin Leonard Link, William Hadley Link, Joseph Hegnauer Link. The family would like to extend it's gratitude to Aberdeen Village and to all those who stayed in touch throughout the years. CARROLL EUGENE KIMBLE - Carroll Eugene Kimble, 73, Adrian, Mo., died Friday, March 7, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. Services were March 11 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian. Interment in the Altona Cemetery, Adrian. Mr. Kimble was born March 5, 1930 in Altona, Mo., to George Carroll and Daisy Marie (Thompson) Kimble. He attended Altona elementary school and graduated from Adrian High School in 1947. He was baptized at the age of 11 at the Altona Baptist Church He was a lifelong farmer in the Altona area except for two years when he served in the U. S. Army. He married Virginia Lee Mouse March 13, 1954 and to this union two daughters were born. Mrs. Kimble preceded him in death Nov. 21, 1998. He married Joyce Marie Gillis on March 4, 2000 and continued to live in the Altona community until his death. He was actibe in the Altona Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and on various committees. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a past-president of the Bates County Farm Bureau. He served as chairman of the Adrian Manor Nursing Home Board, and was a member of the Western Missouri Antique Tractor Association. He was on the Central Co-op Board for a time, as well as a 4 -H leader and active member of Adrian Bit and Spur Saddle Club. He loved farming, watching crops and livestock grown and thrive. He enjoyed working with his machinery and loved the sound of a well-tuned motor. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He leaves his wife of the home; two daughters, Connie and husband Roger Pruden, Altona, and Cathy and husband Paul Harris, Richmond, Mo.; two stepsons, Tim Engelhardt and wife Sherry, Orlando, Fl., and Wilber Engelhardt and wife Melinda, Archie, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Lisa Engelhardt, Blue Springs, Mo.; three granddaughters; six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Elis Kimble, life-long resident of the Spruce community, died Tuesday afternoon, November 5, 1940, at his home. He suffered a paralytic stroke early last spring and has been bedfast since that time. Ellis Kimble was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kimble, who were pioneer residents of Bates county. Mr. Kimble is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. fred Eads of Butler, MO., and a son Earl Kimble of Dallas Texas. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the church in Spruce with burial in Radford cemetery.

Virginia Lee Kimble, 64, Altona, Bates County, Mo., died at her home Saturday, Nov 21, 1998. Graveside services were held Nov. 23 at the Altona Cemetery. Mrs. Kimble was born March 30, 1934 in Urich, Mo., the oldest daughter of Herbert and Evelyn (McQuitty) Mouse. She moved to the Altona area at the age of 2. She married Carroll Eugene Kimble on March 13, 1954 and to this union two daughters were born. She was baptized at an early age and joined the Altona Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school, Bible school and helped organize innumerable children's programs and community social activities. She was also an active member of the Altona Ladies Club and a charter member of the Adrian Bit & Spur Saddle Club. She worked on the family farm all of her life and was an active 4-H leader for over 30 years. The Kimbles were breeders of Hackney and Shetland ponies for many years and she still enjoyed watching the ponies, both in competition and playing in the pasture. She was preceded in death by her father. She leaves her husband of the home; daughter Connie Lee Pruden and husband Roger, Altona, and daughter Cathy Jean Harris and husband Paul, Richmond, Mo.; her mother of Altona; sisters, Mary Ann McConico and husband Bill, Kansas City, Mo., Louise Stoner, Red Mound, Wash., Carol Robey and husband Ragene, Altona; granddaughters Barbara Bolton and husband Lee, Brenda Doody and husband Steven, Alicia Ann Harris; great granddaughter Carrie Lee Bolton; great-grandson, Jacob Layn Bolton; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Zelma Lankford Hernod Kimbrell, 87, of Kearney, Mo., passed away Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Liberty Hospital, in Liberty, Mo. She was born June 3, 1920, in Rich Hill, to Lewis Wesley Lankford and Winifred Eve Willis Lankford. She married Roy Herndon on Aug. 10, 1914 and he preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1977. She then married Claude Kimbrell, June 15, 1979, and he preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1989. Mrs. Kimbrell is survived by two sons, Ronald Herndon and his wife Rayann, of Lathrop, Mo., and Royce Herndon and his wife Dolores, of Sweet Springs, Mo.; six grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Lankford, of Wheatland, Mo.; two sisters, Judith King and Nina Jensen, both of Pittsburg, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Ruby Lankford, of Sedalia, Mo. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Wilson, and three brothers, Wesley, Herschel and Leonard Lankford. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, at Ferry Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service.

Harry Lee was born January 21, 1948, in Carrollton, MO, to John Marvin and Faye Marie Miller. He attended Carrollton Public Schools and Central Missouri University. He was united in marriage to Nancy Benningfield on January 18, 1969. After serving three years in the United States Army, with duty in Germany and Vietnam, they moved to Adrian. He was employed with United Parcel Service in Lenexa, Kansas for 37 years. Harry's hobbies included gardening, auto racing, yard and outdoor work. He was a member of the Adrian Optimist Club and was recognized as Optimist of the Year in 1979. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Carrollton, MO. Harry Lee is survived by his wife, Nancy Kinker, of the home; one son, John Matthew Kinker, Jefferson City, MO; two brothers, John Miller Kinker, Raymore, MO and Curtis Milton Kinker and his wife, Beverly, Lenox, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Jane Kuhlman and her husband, Richard, Kansas City, MO and Martha E. Nancy J. Kirby was born March 23, 1950 in Clinton, Missouri. She was born to Roy Washington and Rita Ann (Bauer) Kirby; one of three children. She passed away at Ellet Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at age 58. Ms. Kirby was born in Clinton, Missouri. She grew up in the Deepwater area. She also lived in Clinton, Montrose, and Appleton City throughout her life. Nancy was a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She always enjoyed spending time with her family. Ms. Kirby's happiest times were spent in her flower gardens. Nancy loved flowers and spent a lot of time gardening and caring for her flowers. She spent many happy hours with her cat "Suzy" who always had a special place in her heart. Preceding Ms. Kirby in death were her parents Roy and Rita (Bauer) Kirby. Frances "Maxine" Klewien, 92, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Freeman Health System West Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Ezekial John Boring and Allie Viola Ricketts Boring. She married Wilford Edwin Streich on Oct. 9, 1943, in Fort Scott. and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1963. She later married Fancy Klewien on Feb. 26, 1965, and he also preceded her in death. Maxine was born and raised in Fort Scott, Kan. She graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1934. She was employed by J.C. Penney of Fort Scott for a number of years. She and her husband Wilford farmed in the Walker area for many years until his death. Maxine has lived in Nevada since 1962. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Walker, Mo., and Royal Neighbors of America Comp 1049, Fort Scott. Survivors include one daughter, Helen A. Cleveland and her husband Mike, Nevada; one son, Dr. Edwin Streich and his wife Elizabeth, Carthage, Mo.; three grandchildren, Dr. Christine Kunzweiler and her husband Steve, Skiatook, Okla., Nicole Jacobs and her husband Bryan, Portland, Ore., and Lindsey Streich, Springfield, Mo., and four great-grandchildren, Sandra Kunzweiler, Jennie Kunzweiler, Jacquelyn Kunzweiler, and Jessica Frederick. Wilma Kollman, 80, of Olathe, formerly of Butler, Mo., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. She was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Spruce, Mo., the daughter of William and Rosa Diehl Cumpton. She was united in marriage to Harry Kollman on March 8, 1947. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Harry and Wilma owned and operated the Dairy Deluxe in Butler before moving to Olathe in 1964, where they owned and operated the Patron's Launderette. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her three brothers, John Cumpton, Everett Cumpton, and George Cumpton. Wilma is survived by her son, Ron Kollman of Olathe; her three brothers, Marvin Cumpton of Overland Park; Arthur Cumpton and wife, Clara Mae of Butler; and Quentin Cumpton and wife Blanche of Butler; and her one sister, Gladys Linard of Butler. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Floyd H. Kutina, 78, of Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at Moore-Few Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 14, 1927, in Lucas, Kan., to Henry Kutina and Stella Parsons. Floyd and Helen Klontz were married on June 1, 1948. Floyd moved to Missouri in the early 1940's. Most of his life was spent in the Nevada area where he made several friends. Floyd was a member of the Teamsters and drove for Yellow Freight from 1973 to 1994. Survivors include three sons, Michael Kutina, Rex Kutina and Mark Kutina; two daughters, Arlene Bowen and Loretta Claspill, all of Nevada; four grandsons; four granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Jean Button and Ruby Kutina, both of Fort Scott, Kan. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, Sept. 22, at Sandstone Cemetery in Milo, Mo.
