This is an 1897 deed to a lot in Oakdale cemetery. There are a couple of interesting things about this pre-printed deed form. First, although this was referred to as the Westbay cemetery well into the 20th century, Oakdale was apparently its formal name from the beginning. Second, it seems that the cemetery may have been started by J. T. Withers, not the Westbays. The Withers name is very old in Monett. S. D. Withers platted the original town of Plymouth in 1881 and sold the first town lots.

Oakdale Cemetery is located about a mile from the Barry Co., line at Sycamore Street and Oakdale Lane, Monett, Lawrence Co., MO. From Hwy 37 going North, turn left onto Sycamore St.
