After being honorably discharged, he worked in Tulsa where he met Linda Porter and her son, Greg. They married on February 17, 1978, John adopted Greg, and they moved to Puget Sound, Washington. Research Note: He was the son of Sven "Sam" and Peggy (Higgins) Rasmussen. Mr. Rasmussen received his education in Forks, Washington and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver and retired in 1989 from Sea-Land Trucking. In 2000 he moved to Cassville from Sterling, Alaska. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Forks, Alaska; the American Legion in Sterling, Alaska; AMVETS in Kenai, Alaska; and the Masonic Lodge in Anchorage, Alaska. Survivors include five sons, three daughters, 28 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, a special lady of 22 years, Alyna "Babe" Newton, and one brother, Richard Rasmussen. The family will gather Saturday, September 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Memories Grill in Cassville under the direction of White Funeral Home of Cassville. - He married Roberta L. Research Note: Francis Charles Rauen, beloved husband, dad, Grandad, Pappa, and friend to many, was the son of Francis (Frank) William Rauen and Ethel Mae (Mack) Rauen. Frank graduated from North Liberty High School, North Liberty, IN in 1950. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from Dec. 1952 through his honorable discharge as rank of Sergeant in Sep. 1954. He married Mary Mae Beaudoin on June 3rd, 1956, at the First United Methodist Church in North Liberty. Upon discharge from the Army, he began working at Wells Aluminum in North Liberty, eventually moving his family to Monett, MO in the fall of 1964 to assist his boss H.C. Beckwith at the Monett, MO division of Wells Aluminum. He retired from Regional Sales in 1996. Frank was active in the community, and a member of the Monett Lions Club and enjoyed helping with the July 4th chicken barbeque and apple butter making events. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monett. Frank enjoyed fishing, antiquing, vacations and trips with family and friends, Wednesday Night and Saturday Supper Club with his circle of friends, trips to the casino with his wife Mary, and the occasional gin and tonic. He enjoyed watching his grandsons and granddaughters participate in their sports and other activities while they were in school. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play football and his granddaughters cheer and dance. Frank loved life and people, and preferred hugs to handshakes. Frank is survived by his wife Mary of almost 68 years and his two daughters; his beloved grandchildren; his sister and his nieces/nephews. Research Note: Ken was a long-time resident of Purdy, Missouri since 1989, where he resided with his wife Joan Real. He was the son of Cleveland Real and Marget (Hogue) Real and the youngest of four children. Survivors include two sons; three daughters; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Joan Real; brother Foy Real; and two sisters Lois and Vanetta Real; and grandson, Kolton Real. Ken graduated with honors from Nevada High School, Nevada Missouri. He was united in marriage to Joan Anne Sorensen, on Nov. 19, 1966, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ken, Joan & son Steve moved from San Diego, California to Missouri during the winter of 1981. Ken worked full-time for several years as a plant manager for Cooper Furniture in Goodman, Missouri & Pierce City Wood Products in Pierce City, MO, and finished his career as a Shipping Lead for Miracle Recreation in Monett, Missouri before retiring in 2003. Ken loved the outdoors, camping, boating, skiing on the Colorado River, farming, and auto mechanics. He thoroughly, loved to garden and walk his "Park" like yard. He enjoyed being a member of the Purdy Missouri City Council, to help improve the city and processes to benefit the residents of Purdy. Ken's lasting legacy will be those he left behind. Ken was an incredibly smart man and could fix anything, no matter how big or how small. He was constantly working to improve processes and leading/growing people along the way. After discharge from the Marine Corps, he married Joanne Gostomski on July 2, 1960 at St. Hyacinth Church in LaSalle and they moved to Joliet, IL. Roger worked at Caterpillar for 32 years, retired in 1987 and moved to Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob, MO in 1992 where he fulfilled his retirement dream of living on a great bass-fishing lake. While stationed at Lackland Air Force Base he started his radio career and became program director of the base radio station. Following his military discharge, he began a full time radio career. Don worked at various places through the years including San Antonio, Texas, Kansas City, Grand Junction, Colorado, and Alpena, Michigan, where he became a familiar voice to so many lives. In 2004, Don was inducted into the Country Music Disc Jockey Hall of Fame. Don was very active in all charitable and community activities and spent over twenty-five years in scouting as a leader and commissioner, and was awarded the Silver Beaver. In 1960, he married Harriet Rosemary Riggs in Aurora; they retired to Shell Knob in 1995. Research Note: Roy was born in September of 1931 on the family farm in Estherville, Iowa to Benny Thomas Roach and Ruth (Rogers) Roach. Roy grew up on the farm alongside one brother and three sisters. He was active in high school sports, and after graduation, joined the National Guard. Roy married in 1948 and they had five children, the youngest passing away at birth. His interest in all things mechanical, steered Roy's occupational path to that of a heavy equipment operator, in which he worked internationally and domestically for years. Roy married Ruth, with daughter Lois, in August of 1961. An occupational accident in 1964 crushed his knee and after recovery he worked five years as a radio station DJ. During their time together Roy and Ruth first operated a beverage business, and then the B and R Garage Door business in Joplin. Ruth preceded him in death in 1999. He was active as a member and musician in the churches of his communities. He has long been a member of the Masons, Scottish Rites, Shriners, Oriental Band, and Elks. Roy served twice as Master in Joplin Lodge 335, and later in life joined the lodges in Cassville and Shell Knob. Roy shared his senior years in Cassville with Mary, where they served as the foundation of an extending family. Services will be held at a later date. Preceding her in death were her father and one brother, Richard Cousins. Rita grew up and received her education in Iowa, graduating from New London High School. She then attended cosmetology school in Burlington, Iowa. For several years she was employed as a floor associate and in the cash office at Walmart in Rochester, New Hampshire. In 2006, she moved from Milton, New Hampshire to Viola to make her home and worked as assistant cook at the Shell Knob Senior Center. She had owned and operated the Ice Cream Shop in Holiday Island. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. After his discharge from the service he was an air traffic controller at O'Hare Airport in Chicago. They later owned and operated the Red Barn Supper Club in Ames, Iowa, then Parkside Cafe in Eureka Springs, Ark., and Shoreline Restaurant in Eagle Rock. Research Note: son of Walter Gene and Dorothy (Porter) Russell. Kenneth was a United State Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of On The Rocks in Shell Knob, Missouri. On July 7, 1978, he married Rosie Lee Sellers in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2007. Kenneth is survived by one son, Travis Russell of Aurora, Missouri; two daughters, Tabitha Althiser of Aurora, Missouri and Tamarra McCaslin and her husband, Rick, of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jonathan J. Russell, Richard McCaslin III, Jonathan Denton, Blake Denton, Dominick Russell, Luciyen Russell and Priya Russell; one brother, Bobby Russell and his wife, Denise, of California, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
