Osa Becomes a Recognized Community in 1895 - A new post office has been established in Crane Creek Township called Osa with J. R. Wilson as postmaster. This will accommodate quite a section of country that has heretofore had poor mail facilities. A post office at Roaring River would make the mail facilities of the county very good.
The grave numbers used in the Osa Cemetery are from Ethel Wells. Ethel did a catalog of the cemetery in May 1982.
Her explanation of the numbering is as to follow: "The list of those buried in the Osa Cemetery was compiled by reading names and dates from grave markers. There are many unknown and unmarked graves as you will observe when visiting the cemetery. Each grave is in alphabetical order and is numbered. Beginning at the entrance of the cemetery, all graves numbered 1-303 are located on the north side of the cemetery. All graves on the south side of the cemetery are numbered from 304-620."
A copy of Ethel's work is on file with the Ozarks Genealogical Society in Springfield, MO. Ethel has since died, and is buried in Osa Cemetery.
