Dodson and the daughter of Neil Gist and Nancy Neece. - Cassville Democrat, January 2, 1909 - Died, Dec. 22, 1908, at her home near McDowell, Mary, wife of P. L. Dodson. She was a daughter of Neal and Nancy Gist, and was born Oct. 23, 1850. Sister Dodson was converted at the age of 15 and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Lone Elm, where she held worthy membership until her death. For months she suffered with the dreadful disease - consumption, but bore her sufferings with the greatest patience, which showed her faith was in a higher Being. She was given the greatest care friends and physicians could give, but nothing could turn the pale horse and its rider from the door. Slow but sure was life ebbing out and her sun did set to rise no more in this world, and in her dying hour a heavenly smile seemed to light her face and her last words were "Happy, Happy". She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed, as she was a good neighbor, a dutiful wife and a kind mother. She leaves a husband, three sons, Fletcher, Famous, and Furlon, and two daughters, Mrs. Roy Haskins and Miss Clarence, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss, but our loss is Heaven's gain, and to the bereaved we would say lean heavily upon him who said, "I'll Ne'er Leave Nor Forsake Thee." The remains were taken to he her old home near Crane, where interment was made amidst a crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends after a short service by Rev. Allman. - Grave #390. - Another Photo | Ethel Wells, May 1992 Online Obit Phyllis Long Photo Connie Schmidt |

FEASTER, Martha A. | July 5, 1841 MO |
Sept. 10, 1917 Lawrence Co., MO |
Research Note: Jay posted: Martha died of paralysis according to King Funeral Home Records. Larry Wilson added some notes for her: According to the information that Larry has on the Feaster family, Martha's parents, Robert Reed Feaster and Easter Phillips Feaster were married December 1835. Martha was their third child. Two of her siblings, Sarah Elizabeth and James Andrew, were born in 1836 and 1838 respectively. Larry has Martha's date of birth as July 5, 1840. He did not do the original research on the family - these dates were provided to him by someone else. He can confirm the dates for Sarah Elizabeth Feaster, because she was his 2nd great-grandmother - from dates that are on her tombstone in a cemetery in Texas. And another sibling, Mary Jane Feaster Wilson, was his great-grandmother - and is buried in Osa. Donna's Note: Her death certificate has that her father was named Robert Feaster and her mother Easter P. Phillips born NC, and that she was born July 5, 1831 in MO. Her age is given as 86 years, 2 months and 5 days old. She was single. I. C. Feaster, Aurora, MO, was the informant. In 1870, Buck Prairie, Lawrence Co., MO, Martha A. Feaster was listed as age 28 and born in MO, which suggests that perhaps she was born July of 1841. In 1910 she was living with her brother Will in Buck Prairie of Lawrence County and was age 68, listed as born in MO. This again suggests that she was born in 1841 - from the date the census was taken. Larry Wilson added: In the 1900 census (Buck Prairie, Lawrence County), she is listed as Ann Feaster, aunt (living with nephew George). The birth date is shown as July 1841. | Note Jay Trace Note Larry Wilson Death Certificate Donna Cooper |
