My 3rd gr grandfather, John YOUNG, was one of the first county justices (commissioners) appointed by the Governor when the county was formed in 1841. He was also the first postmaster at Rockbridge. Several papers and documents were handed down in my family that were dated in Ozark Co. in the 1840-1850's. Around 1851 the family moved to Texas. It is the town of Rockbridge in the northern part of Ozark Co., MO. This town was in the center of the county when it was formed in 1842, and was the county seat. Later the county was divided up, and the county seat moved to Gainesville.I am not sure what county in VA the Youngs came from. A fellow researcher thinks Tazewell, but no proof yet.
