Zumwalts Build Historic Fort.   Messinger Tribune, Wednesday, July 16, 1980. By Richard V. Stevens. June Groshong

(Following submitted by Patty (Jamerson) Archer, 15 Jan 2015)

From the book Judgments & Decrees Index No. 2 (I think it said 2 or maybe 3, faded on the spine) in the Recorder of Deeds office in Lincoln Co., MO:

[Note: This was in an index book in the attic of the Recorderd of Deeds office. Recorder says she doesn't know what happened to actual Books these Judgments & Decrees were written into. Should've been part of the circuit clerk's office she said. That office moved to another building and left some things behind, but these books appear to be missing. She said that the state archives said they could possibly be in the basement of the courthouse. Not sure if these books were ever microfilmed.]

27 Mar 1857 – Thomas M. Jameson vs. James Bowles, John Bowles, Morgan Pierce & E.L.N. Cottle; 27 Mar 1857; Transcript from Justice of the Peace Oglevie filed 27 Mar 1858; Debt $63.37; Costs $3.05; book entered E p. 111/Book A Justice's Judgments.

[Note: I find this record interesting. Thomas Mahan Jameson is the son of George W. & Mary Ida (Clay) Jameson. Thomas' oldest brother was Allen Clay "Clay" Jameson/Jamerson, my great great grandfather. Morgan Pierce is my other great great grandfather. Clay's son Willis Franklin Jamerson was married to Morgan's daughter Flora Ann Pierce. E.L.N. Cottle was a Jameson cousin, a son of Edward "Ned" Cottle & wife Celia (Jameson) Cottle. Celia was Thomas and Clay's aunt (their father George's sister). As far as the Bowles men go, they may have had a family connection to Morgan Pierce. Would have liked to see this record to find out the whole story behind this debt.]

23 Sep 1858 - Wm. Young vs. J. Admire & Morgan Pierce; 23 Sep 1858; on Note; Debt $130.16; Costs $12.00; Book entered E p. 369.
