Find a facility where you can hold your reunion.
Hotel Meeting Rooms:
Generally, hotels have meeting rooms, and if a group can guarantee a minimum number of room rentals, they may give the meeting room free or at reduced cost, depending on amenities requested. See the Lodging in Lincoln County page for a list of possible hotels to contact.
Restaurants:
Restaurants and eating establishments may have rooms large enough to accommodate a reunion group. Check out the possibilities on the Restaurants & Eating Establishments page.
Churches:
Area churches may also be a possibility for moderately-sized group functions, but, again, it would probably be helpful if one or more of the participants were local. You may look at the list of "Lincoln County Churches" and contact one of them to see if a meeting space can be arranged. See our List of Churches.
Parks:
There are picnic areas and a shelter at the Cuivre River State Park, on Hwy 47 just out of Troy, MO, where we have the some family reunions are held every year. There is a full hook up campground for RV's, Trailers, etc. There are also electric only sites for tent campers, etc. Currently available contact information is telephone (314) 528-7247. There is more info on park at: http://www.simnitt.com/tcoc/recreati.htm Contact the park regarding whether reservations are required, etc.
Halls:
There may be other halls in Lincoln County that are available for reunion space.
Two that are known appear on this page. The American Legion at Elsberry has a large hall
close by (on Hwy. 79) which they rent for events like weddings. They are at:
American Legion
111 Legion Dr, Elsberry, MO 63343
Phone: (573) 898-2100
However, this would be too large for a group of 10-15. The Elsberry Senior Center has a
smaller facility that is sometimes used by small groups for various family occasions. You
would need to contact them to find out whether they would arrange for a group without a
local contact. It is in downtown Elsberry, across from a small park, at:
Elsberry Senior Center
501 Broadway St, Elsberry, MO 63343-1235
Phone: (573) 898-9691
Advertise the Upcoming Reunion
Post a notice of your family reunion in local Lincoln County Newspapers. This may uncover some additional cousins. You may also reach some persons who subscribe to the newspapers and wouldn't know about the reunion otherwise.
Elsberry Democrat
312 Broadway St, Elsberry, MO 63343-1233
Phone: (573) 898-9814
Troy Free Press
615 E Cherry St, Troy, MO 63379-1411
Phone: (314) 528-4720
Lincoln County Journal
615 E Cherry St, Troy, MO 63379-1411
Phone: (314) 528-9550
Advertise it on the internet. You can post information about
your reunion on our "Upcoming Family Reunions"
page.
Finding Lodging Accommodations
See the Lodging Accommodations page for lodging accommodations offered for your consideration. Names appearing on the list were gathered from internet listings, various search engines, and by word-of-mouth. The fact that a motel/hotel name appears on this page does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of the establishment. However, it is our hope that researchers who have experience with establishments will provide comments for the benefit of future researchers' consideration. This list simply presents possibilities for you to check out. If you have other suggestions and/or recommendations, please let us know so those can be included.
Restaurants & Eating Establishments
See the List of Lincoln County & Area Churches page for a list of churches which includes addresses, phone numbers and organization dates when known. Some churches on the list are historical and may no longer exist. Some are apparently still active, but we do not yet have the address or phone number. If you discover any discrepancies or omissions in the list, please contribute the information by sending additions, corrections or changes to the County Coordinator with the subject "Lincoln Co. MO Church Info."
Church Services & Times: Services, times and pastors' names are not included on this list. They may be found at http://www.lincolnco.net/religion.htm.
