The names appearing below were gathered from internet listings, various search engines, and by word-of-mouth. Troy: Since Troy is the location of the County Seat, court house, county library and historical society, it is a logical choice for those with research interests or for larger reunion gatherings, especially if those attending a reunion are not local to the area.
Locations: There are only few hotels/motels actually located at Troy. Internet search at http://www.switchboard.com for motels in/near Troy produced most entries on the following list. It lists only one motel actually in Lincoln County at Troy. Additional motel listings and one bed and breakfast have been provided by researchers and are added. There is one motel listed in Elsberry. The others are off Interstate 70 in St. Charles or Warren Counties, adjacent to Lincoln County, and are approximately 10-14 miles driving distance to Troy. So, all listings not in Troy itself are at least within a 14-mile radius.
Reunions: If a reunion group can guarantee a certain number of rooms for a number of nights, it may be possible to negotiate a better room rate. Call the hotel/motel direct, not the 800 central reservation number for the chains. Even where only one room is booked, rates quoted locally may be better than through the central number. It pays to check. But call well in advance; special events (or deer hunting season) can cause them to book up quickly.
Meeting Rooms: Regarding meeting rooms for reunions, generally, hotels have meeting rooms, and if a group can guarantee a minimum number of room rentals, they may give the meeting room free or at reduced cost, depending on amenities requested. You'll have to check individually with the hotels/motels below to see if they have any meeting rooms available that would be appropriate for your reunion.
