HAROLD D. 'PETE' FOUNTAIN - (Oct. 16, 1916 – June 19, 2002) – In Memory - I bet you're singing with the angels right now, Harold. Perhaps you're admiring the never-ending sunrise coming up over the crystal sea, or taking in the grandeur of mansions as far as the eye can see. Maybe you're talking to Saint Peter about what it was like to walk with Jesus and see miracles every day, or you might be asking Mary how it felt to be the mother of Jesus and get to watch him play. But most of all Harold, when I picture you in Heaven, I think you're just sitting, smiling at Jesus. You're thanking Him for being faithful and praying that someday all your family and friends will accept Him into their hearts so they can join you in this wonderful place.– Deeply missed by Bertha, Mary, Jimmy, David, Emily and Austin , and many other friends. She was a member of Eminence First Baptist Church. She was a hard worker, a caring wife, a devoted mother, and a very loving Granny. She was not a complainer; she believed in pulling her weight, and wouldn't ask you to do something she wasn't willing to do herself. Her home and heart were always open to anyone in need. Helen has touched so many people in her lifetime, and was a blessing to all. "We" were blessed! She had a whirlwind 2 week courtship with Owen Ray Frazier. She enjoyed cooking to the fullest and has prepared thousands of meals in her lifetime. Not only family meals, but school lunches, flipped many a burger at Frazier's Drive-In and Cafe, and made tons of pies. Her greatest joy was cooking at the Cross Country Trail Ride and making sure the pounds and pounds of food had flavor and were prepared Helen's way. Her pastimes included playing bingo, antiquing, watching the Cardinals, playing cards and resting her eyes. Her laughter can still be heard from the jokes and pranks played on family and friends. PAULINE AVA JULIAN FREEMAN - We said good-bye to a dear friend on March 27, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Mt. View: Pauline Ava (JULIAN) FREEMAN passed away. She could not stay with us any longer, although we selfishly tried to keep her. Pauline's parents were Elizabeth Ann (CORBET) JULIAN and Charles Harvey JULIAN. Her only sister was Ella Mae JULIAN. Pauline was born at Gallaway, MO in Green County on October 14, 1910. When Pauline was three and a half and Mae just two, these little girls lost their dear mother. Before passing, Elizabeth had Charlie promise to raise their little girls up in Christ. This promise was kept. Pauline and Mae had two aunts that were very special to them: Aunt Susy BOLIN and Aunt Ella ALLISON, who were Charlie's sisters. (Actually, Susy was a cousin, daughter of Ella (JULIAN) ALLISON, who was sister to Charlie.) {Note by NMS} They were always willing to teach them, hand out hugs and give lots of encouragement. This helped make Pauline the wonderful wife, home-maker and friend she became. When Pauline was working at a restaurant on Main Street in Eminence, a nice young man by the name of John FREEMAN would come in every day and tease her. She would blush very easily and John loved that. He found he also loved Pauline. They were married in West Eminence on February 3, 1934 by the Rev. George Fry. World War ll came along and John was drafted into the service. While he was stateside, Pauline was with him. The year 1945 found them in Oklahoma. From there, at war's end, they came back home to Eminence where John became a member of the Postal Service and eventually became Postmaster General. Pauline took great pride in her home, loving to cook and feed family and friends. Gardening was a special love for both of them, roses were their favorites. Aside from their homes and yard, they loved to fish. Pauline would fill a thermos bottle with coffee, grab some crackers and Vienna sausages, the fishing poles and tackle box, and head for the 'hole in the wall' on Jack's Fork River with John, where they would spend the day, basking in the sun, looking forward to the day when John would retire and they could do this every day. When Pauline would tell this, she would smile real big because this did not happen when John retired. They found more and more things to do in their garden and in their home, with less and less time for the river. Pauline liked to travel, she said, as long as she could be in her own bed at night. Pauline and John had 54 wonderful years together, we should all be so lucky. John passed away (from cancer) on January 3, 1988 but he was forever in Pauline's heart. Pauline was a kind and giving woman. She loved her family, friends, community and church. A member of 'Young At Hearts', she looked forward to every Wednesday's get together. Pauline was truly a lady. We will miss her very much. Funeral services were held at 10 am Saturday, March 30, 2002 at the Duncan Funeral Chapel in Eminence, with Rev. James Doyle officiating. Interment was in the New Eminence Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence. Sources for this information: Family Files. Submitted by: Norma (Myers) Stevenson .
