I am researching Sherman S SMITH of the town of Ethel. His father was James B SMITH who was born in Pennsylvania abt. 1822 and his mom is Susan A (KNESEAL) SMITH born in Fairfield, Ohio in 1833.
The family was living in Linn Co, MO as of the 1860 and 1870 census.
In 1880 they were living in Valley, Morris County Kansas.
By the 1900 Census Sherman, his brother George and their mother Susan has moved back to North Salem, Linn County, MO.
Sherman was living in Ethel In Macon Co by the 1910 Census.
There were 5 children in the SMITH family:
Samuel, born abt 1857,
Sarah M, born abt 1859,
Sherman born in 1868,
Mary E born abt 1869
George born abt 1974.
Sarah and Mary went west to Washington State and Mary ended up in Oregon. Susan died on Sept 20, 1915 in Ethel and was buried in Price Cemetery in Linn Co on Sept 22, 1915, George was killed in Ethel on April 29, 1918 and was buried in Winigan (I believe Price Cem) April 30, 1918. Sherman died in Ethel on Nov. 6, 1942 and was buried in Price Cemetery.
I am the Great Great Grandson In-law of Susan A SMITH.
Any help on this family is greatly appreciated.

Next daughter was Nellie J. born 1866 in PA. She was married in 1885 to Shelby JACKSON born 1865 in Red Bluff, CA . They also lived in Quincy,IL They had 2 children - a daughter - name unknown, who married a W. H. HENNING, and a son, whose initials were R.M. Nellie's DOD is not known, but Shelby died in 1933 in Macon, MO.
Third Dau was Mollie A. born 1869 in PA She married W.J. SMITH, and they too, lived in Quincy, IL.
Fourth dau was Mary Maud born 1874 in Macon, MO. She died 11 Mar 1959, married George W. GARRETT, born 1868, died 1936. He is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon. We believe they made their home in Macon.
