William Pike died in October 1846 at along the Truckee River, 1850 became Utah territory [now Nevada].3,4 He was a witness were survived of the "The Donner Party" trip to California. California did not become a state untile September 9, 1850, and since the Mexican American War of 1846 to 1848 California was the northern province of Mexico in 1846. with William Foster and Sarah Ann C. Murphy in November 1846 at Truckee Lake (now Donner Lake), Yuba County (now Nevada County), California, Mexico.3,5
