Text | William Truman Carlin, 84, of Pierce City, died at 1:30 a.m. yesterday, November 15, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield following a brief illness. Mr. Carlin was born May 31, 1915, in Purdy, the son of Earl and Della May Boucher Carlin. He lived in the Monett and Pierce City areas most of his life. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, from 1951 to 1957, Rocketdyne of Neosho from 1957 to 1968, and retired in 1970 from Bell Helicopter of Abilene, Texas, as quality control representative. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett, an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, and was a member and past commander of Pierce City American Legion Post 65. He married Loretta Fenski Schultz on December 23, 1967. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, November 18, at Wessell's Chapel in Pierce City. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Pierce City under the direction of Wessell's Funeral Home of Pierce City. Visitation will be 7 p.m. tomorrow, November 17, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pierce City American Legion Post 65. |
