She was a devoted Christian lady, and a worker in the Sunday Schools. To her, the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled dream, she has awakened to see life's endless morning break and known herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about her. Gone from their sight, but because life and love are stronger than earth she is still there. She is still the mother of the dear children, upon whom she devoted with such enlacing? fondness, and the companion still of him, who mourns earth's greatest loss, and may she not by this transition wild over then a stranger force for goodness and truth than before. | Online Obit Census Phyllis Long Photo Jay Trace |

He died from a gun shot wound, self inflicted. - Cassville Republican, July 17, 1930 - SHOOTS SELF IN FIT OF DESPONDENCY - Brooding Over Wife Death, Poor Health and Financial Condition, Everet Chenoweth Takes Life: Monday morning, July 14, Everet Chenoweth, a farmer living 1 ½ miles southeast of Purdy committed suicide by shooting himself in the right temple. Before committing the deed he wrote a note to his brother, Guy Chenoweth of Tulsa, Okla., telling him that he had grieved for his wife, his health was bad, that he was heavily in debt and that he was tired of living and asked his brother to care for the two small sons. Mrs. Chenoweth died in February and he became despondent and frequently went to his orchard where he would sit for hours and brood over his troubles. His relatives became alarmed as to his mental condition and had gone to his home to look after the family. Monday morning he left the house and his mother becoming uneasy sent his 7-year old son to look for him. The boy found his father lying in the barn bleeding and ran to the house and told his grandmother that he was there and had blood on his face. County coroner Floyd Callaway of Monett was called and went to the scene. He found that the fact of the man's suicide was evident and did not think that an inquest was necessary. Chenoweth is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dora Chenoweth of Purdy, three sisters, Miss India Chenoweth of Purdy, Miss Florence Chenoweth of Kansas City and a Mrs. Hood who lives at a distance; one brother, Guy Chenoweth of Tulsa, Okla. and his two small sons. - Headstone | Death Certificate Donna Cooper Online Obit Phyllis Long Photo Jay Trace |
