SSW: Wilson Lane - Research Note: Eliza was a daughter of Simon Hiram and Martha Tabitha (James) Long. She and Wilson married Feb. 9, 1868 in Barry Co., MO. Eliza was a granddaughter of Hiram and Anna (Lakey) Long. Her obit and stone are in agreement on the date of her birth, but her death certificate has a different date, Nov. 17, 1850. A slice of her obit reads: "Mrs. Eliza Lane, beloved wife of Wilson Lane of near Purdy, was born in Douglas county, Missouri, September 15, 1851. In 1865 her parents moved to Barry county and on February 9, 1868 she and Wilson Lane were married." - Cassville Republican, Thursday, May 29, 1919 - Mrs. Wilson Lane died Wednesday, May 21, at the Lane home west of Purdy. She had been in poor health for sometime and a few days before her death had a stroke of paralysis which resulted in her death. The funeral services were held Thursday and interment made at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery southwest of Purdy. She was 68 years old and was the mother of a large family and a woman held in highest esteem by a large circle of friends and acquaintances in many parts of the county. She leaves husband and six children living. The children are: U. S. Lane of Purdy, Sherman of Thomas, New Mexico and Mrs. Pete Harper, Mrs. W. D. Cowherd, Mrs. T. J. He was a farmer and Sherdin Lane was the informant. - Cassville Democrat, September 7, 1907 - Short Biographies of the Grand Jury: Wilson Lane of Purdy was born Jan. 26, 1847 in Madison County, Ark, and lived there 11 years and then his parents moved to near Fayetteville, Ark. where they resided 7 years and in 1866 they moved to Barry County, MO, and located on Stone's Prairie and he has lived in that section ever since. He and Miss Eliza Long were married to whom where born 10 children, 7 of whom are living. Mr. Lane is a very successful farmer and owns 1100 acres of land and has handled hundreds of cattle. He is a strong believer in good cattle and now has 18 head of shorthorn cattle and is a breeder of thoroughbred Berkshire hogs. He is a progressive farmer and has been very successful. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church and a Republican, we are sorry to say. - November 12, 1914, Thursday, Cassville Republican - Wilson Lane, Fletcher Wormington and son, Chas. and S. P. McQueen of near Purdy were in Cassville Tuesday on their way home from a week's hunt in the eastern part of the county. Dale received his education in Butterfield and attended high school at Cassville. He joined the United States Army in October 1960 and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in California. Ferguson. - Cassville Republican, January 30, 1913, Thursday - A Good Citizen Dead: James L. London, who for a number of years had been living in the vicinity of Butterfield, passed peacefully away Friday morning, age 59 years. His death was due to lagrippe and stomach trouble. James London was born in Madison Co., Ark., in the year of 1854 and came with his mother to Missouri in 1880. Early in life he professed faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian Church at Mt. Joy. In October 1912 he became a member of the Methodist Church at Butterfield where he was an active member until death. He was married to Laura J. Ferguson in 1876. To this union were born no children. He is survived by his wife, two brothers and a number of other relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. J. Combs Saturday afternoon at the Mt.
