Research Note: He was the the son of Clarence and Cora (Preddy) Saunders. On June 6, 1952 in Long Beach, California he was united in marriage to Wilma Craig. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Stan; four brothers, Pete, David, Harold and Doyle and two sisters, Louise and June. Charles moved to this area in 1946. After graduating high school he joined the United States Navy during the Korean War. When he returned home, he attended college at Southern Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri where he attained a bachelor's degree and later attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Research Note: On June 6, 1952 in Long Beach, CA, Wilma was united in marriage to Charles Edward Saunders, who preceded her in death on June 16, 2022. Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Stanley Saunders and two brothers, Donald Craig and Charles Craig. Surviving are one daughter, Diana Watkins and her husband Jim of Cassville, MO; one brother, Bill Craig of Cassville, MO; one sister, Loretta Pugh of Verona, MO and a grandson, Justin Etter of Cassville, MO. Wilma grew up and attended school in Cassville, MO graduating from Cassville High School in 1950. She was a homemaker her entire life. Duane grew up in the Cassville, MO area and attended Cassville High School from where he graduated. He was employed as a machinist at Precise Machine and Manufacturing in Cassville, a supervisor at Preddy Machine Shop in Cassville and worked for the MO Department of Conservation in forestry. Duane and Maxine graduated from the Lynchburg Bible Institute in Lynchburg, Virginia. He loved reading and studying the Bible. Duane was a man that could do anything when his mind was set to do it. Flying was always of interest to him, he was a pilot, built and flew two airplanes and built and flew radio-controlled airplanes. Olin Stumpff of Cato, MO was the informant on the death certificate. - Cassville Democrat, July 10, 1940 - POSTMASTER 22 YEARS DIES - Prominent Resident of Cato Community and Country Merchant - W.E. Stumpff, prominent resident of Cato community for thirty-five years, did Saturday, July 6th, at his home, following a long illness. For twenty-two years Mr. Stumpff had been postmaster at Cato where he had a store. He had been seriously ill of a prostrate gland trouble for a year or more. He had frequently been treated here at the Barry County Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Stumpff home at Cato Monday afternoon, July 8, conducted by Rev. Sterl Watson of Springfield. Burial was in the Mineral Spring cemetery, with the Horine-Culver undertakers in charge. Mr. Stumpff was born Aug. 19, 1866, being at the time of his death 73 years, 19 months and 17 days old. Surviving are his widow and four children, three sons, Olen, Ernest, and Paul of Cato; and one daughter, Mrs. Troy Short of Cassville. He is also survived by four brothers; Ben, Frank, Charles and George; and one sister, Mrs. J. B. Bailie, who lives in Oregon. William Edgar Stumpff, a son of Francis and Sarah Stumpff, was born Aug. 19, 1866 in Johnson County, Mo. He was married to Minnie A Stahl Nov. 27, 1894. To them five children were born, one of whom, Walter, died in infancy. For more than forty years he had been a faithful member of the Church of Christ. During his long illness he bore his suffering with patience and Christian fortitude. He was also a faithful member of Wood Street Baptist Church, after relocating to Lebanon, Missouri, in 2005. Rodney Woolsey was a Navy veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict. Research Note: Son of Alfred and Dora (Ennis) Young. On Oct. 28, 1950 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Phyllis Sue Ryan, who survives. Surviving are three daughters; one son; 8 grandchildren; 19 great- and two great-great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Alden Young and Doyle Young; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Christopher Rivera; and one son-in-law, Bobby James. Gerald attended school in Cassville, Missouri graduating from Cassville High School later attending Monett Junior College where he attained a degree in teaching. He had an extensive work history as he was employed by Armour and Company for 15 years, Vaisey-Bristol Shoe Company for 15 years, Garrett Manufacturing for two years, EFCO Corporation for 15 years from where he retired before going to work at Walmart for 16 years from where he also retired. Gerald enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and listening to bluegrass music. Family gatherings was always a favorite as he loved to tell stories and visit. Mr. Young attended school at Mineral Springs, and graduated from Cassville High School in 1946. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the US Army. Two months later was sent to Korea, serving 2 years. Before leaving for basic training he was married to Angeline Chenoweth. After his discharge, Mr. Young returned to CA and later moved to Payson.
