The Independent Journal, Thursday, March 13, 2008, Pg 11C. This cemetery is an old place dating back as far as the
Civil War. It has not had a caretaker for many years, a few families that
have loved ones there clean and cut the grass on their own plots, but
the whole cemetery had not been cleaned for six or seven years. It had a lot of underbrush, large trees and was in bad condition.
The There will be many more days
work as dirt will have to be hauled in to fill some of the graves, tombstones are lying on the ground and some are broken.
If anyone would like to volunteer some time helping of if they want
to donate money to set up a fund to maintain the cemetery in the
future, they can call 636-586-5874 for further information.
