Uncle John Stack Passed Away John Stack died at his home in Metz at twelve o'clock Monday, after an illness of several days. He was aged eighty-two years last month. Burial was announced for Thursday in the G. A. R. lot in Balltown cemetery. Uncle John was a native of Switzerland, but came to this country with his parents when quite young. So far as known all of his relatives are dead. For many years Uncle John had been a familiar character of this locality, walking down from Kansas City before the railroad was built. He moved his small house to East Metz over a dozen years ago and spent the remainder of his days here. He was a veteran of the Civil war and for many years was an active member of Mt. McGregor Post, G. A. R., an organization that will soon become extinct as the old veterans are rapidly responding to the sound of taps. The Metz Times, Metz, Missouri. Friday, March 31, 1922, page 1.
