William Hancher Parman was born July 17, 1858 in Greene County, Tennessee and died January 27, 1944 in Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas. On May 1, 1881, he was married to Mary Ann Caton in Vernon County, Missouri. She was born June 6, 1865 in Vernon County, Missouri and died December 4, 1947 in Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas. He was the son of Samuel and Malinda (Bird) Parman. She was the daughter of Hugh M. and Nancy Ann (Harvey) Caton. Their children, all born in Vernon County, were: Robert Bruce, born April 23, 1882 Calla May, born May 10, 1884 Luther Edmond, born Oct 21, 1886 Glessa Kate, born June 3, 1889 Paul Andrew, born September 22, 1894 Susie Maudine, born December 25, 1896
In 1900 the Parman family was listed in the Nevada City, Vernon County, Missouri census, but by 1910 they had moved to Cowley County, Kansas where William Parman was listed as a furniture store merchant.
