WILLIAM RILEY NEAGLE

William Riley Neagle married Edwina V. Smith on February 26, 1874 in Macoupin Co., Illinois (Illinois Secretary of State Marriage Record Online Database).  Edwina was born 1855 in Flint Pike, Illinois.  They moved to the Nevada-Walker area of Vernon County, MO, where William was keeper of the County Home.

In 1877 Edwina was pregnant with twins, and on October 1 gave birth to two little girls, Nellie and Nora. Sadly, both Edwina and Nora died in childbirth.  The burial location for Edwina (Smith) Neagle and infant daughter Nora has not been located; and there are no local newspapers for this time period, so no obituary could be found. She may have be taken back to Illinois for burial, but with the maiden name of Smith, it has very difficult to try to find her family.

William Riley Neagle and Edwina also had an older son whose name was William Riley Neagle Jr. On March 25, 1900 he married Letisha/Letitia May Bales in Vernon County. She was born January 17, 1882 in Walker, MO, and died October 8, 1942. I knew of William Jr., and he died in California. 

William Jr. and Letisha had a daughter, Eva May Neagle, who was born August 28, 1902, and died June 19, 1975. I do not know if she stayed in the Nevada area or moved with her father to California. Whether she married or not is also unknown.
