JERRY A. LOVELL

Jerry A. Lovell

(Attorney at Law, City Attorney and City Clerk, Nevada).

   True worth in any position in life is certain to receive recognition some time, in later years if not early in one's career.  In the present instance, Mr. Lovell, though a young man, has been honored with official position in the direction of the legal profession, and at this time is city attorney as well as city clerk.  He is still less than 26 years of age, having been born June 10, 1861, in Surry county, N. C., from whence he removed with his parents to Johnson county, Mo., in 1866, subsequently locating in this county.  William R. Lovell, his father, was a physician in North Carolina, and of established reputation in the practice of medicine.  At the present time he is  a resident of Nevada.  His wife was formerly Miss Eliza R. Reeves, also of the same State.  Jerry A. was the ninth of 10 children in the family.  Being next to the youngest he received good school advantages, and attended school in both Johnson and this county when not occupied in farm work.  His residence here dates from the year 1877.  Following the settlement made at that time he commenced the study of law under the guidance of Mr. S. A. Wight, and was admitted to the bar in November, 1885, soon after which he was chosen city clerk and attorney in April, 1886.  It goes without saying that in the discharge of the duties connected with these offices Mr. Lovell applies himself both honorably and sincerely to the work before him, receiving the approbation of all those whose interests he serves.
