RHODES MEADE HACKWORTH
R. M. HACKWORTH Passed Away Near Pappinville Last Saturday. R. M. Hackworth died last Saturday at his home near Pappinville. Funeral services were held Sunday and the remains were taken to Rich Hill for burial. Mr. Hackworth had been in feeble health for several years, and for the past few months it was noted that he was failing rapidly. He sold his place in Metz last spring and went to Oklahoma in the hopes that the change would improve his condition, but in a little more than a month's time he returned. He then went to Pappinville and bought a place near the home of a daughter and resided there till his death. He leaves a wife and five children. The children are Wm. Hackworth who resides in Oklahoma, Mrs. L. T. Hoblit of Holtville, Calif., Mrs. John Lankford at Old Metz, Mrs. Edwards near Pappinville, and another daughter whose name and residence cannot be learned. Mr. Hackworth was born in Indiana, and was 70 years of age the 27th day of last March. He served two years in the war of the Rebellion in the Fourteenth Iowa regiment. He was a member of Mt. McGregor Post, G.A.R., for many years, but on going to Oklahoma withdrew his membership. Mr. Hackworth resided in and near Metz for many years and was known by almost everyone.
