CHRISTOPHER T. DAVIS
JUDGE C. T. DAVIS DEAD. Passed Away at His Home in This City This Afternoon. Judge Christopher T. Davis died at his home in this city at 3:15 o'clock today, of diabetes, aged 53 years. Judge Davis had been a prominent citizen of Nevada and Vernon county for many years, and his death will be sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends. He was a man of excellent traits of character, kind hearted, and made many strong friends. He was born in Pittsylvania county, Virginia, May 10, 1845. He enlisted in the confederate army when he was about 15 years of age, and served to the close of the war. Removing to Nevada, he was twice elected prosecuting attorney of Vernon county. He was a member of the A. O. U. W. The deceased leaves a bereaved wife and three children--Mrs. Arthur Church of Chicago, Miss Cielia and son Earl to mourn his death. The family have the sympathy of friends. The funeral arrangements have not been perfected at this hour. The Nevada Daily Mail, Nevada, Missouri. October 7, 1898.

In Memoriam of C. T. Davis Christopher T. Davis was born at Pittsylvania Co. Virginia the 10th day of May 1846 and departed this life at Nevada, Missouri on the 14th day of Oct. 1898. Though young in years he rendered gallant service in the Confederate army. Soon after the close of the war he located at Nevada, Missouri, and read law in the office of S. A. Wight. He was admitted to the Bar of Vernon County on the 18th day of November 1870. He was Prosecuting Attorney of this County during the years 1877 and 1878, and 1883 and 1884. He was a man of sterling integrity and the soul of honor: zealous in the interest of his clients: faithful in the performance of every duty, private or official. In his intercourse with his brethern (sic) of the bar he was genial, companionable, courteous, and considerate. An affectionate husband, a kind father, and good lawyer, an excellent citizen, a faithful public servant, the members of the Bar of Vernon County in testimony of their respect and esteem present this memorial and request that it be spread upon the records of the Court. /s/ C.
