JUDGE J. N. ANGEL DEAD

At 7:30 o'clock, on last Tuesday morning, September 19th, Judge John Nathaniel Angel died at his home a few miles south of town.

Judge Angel was born December 13, 1832, in DeKalb County, Tennessee, making him at the time of death almost 67 years of age. He was one of the earliest settlers, coming here in 1851 and has made this his home ever since.

He was married in 1853 to Miss Frances Wood, daughter of Hon. John C. Wood, who died in 1880. From this union the following children are now living: James W., Isabella A., now Mrs. 5. H. Fry, and Hershel A. And the following are dead: Susan B., later Mrs. Henry Pettigrew; John C. Willis, Sarah Rebecca and Horace.

Judge Angel was an enthusiastic Democrat and was the recipient of many political honors in this county. He served as Justice of the Peace n number of times, holding that office in Piney township at the time of his death. He was appointed Assessor in 1866, and in 1888 was elected Judge of the County Court in the Western district.

Judge Angel was recognized as a highly honored and respected man and citizen and his loss will be deeply felt, especially among those older citizens with whom he has been associated for so many years.

The remains were interred in the Houston cemetery Wednesday noon.
