OUR SATURDAY OUTING
By Mary Anderson-Boyd

I grew up on the Anderson farm which was located the Horseshoe Bend of Crane Creek, just outside of Hurley, Missouri.  Our farm was approximately 5 miles from Hurley and 10 miles from Crane, Missouri.  Crane had a population of over a 1,000 people.  This was around the early 1900's.  We usually went to Crane to shop and buy groceries.  They had a large store which was called the Farmer's Exchange.  I sometimes worked there on Saturdays and sold candy for them.  I enjoyed that very much because I got to visit with a lot of the people and I sold a lot of candy too.
