Syd & Jack Carr - 1944

Syd  was born in Crane, Missouri in 1924 to Ernest (Jack) and Pansy (Waymire) Carr.  He is a direct descendent of William Carr of Virginia thru both Silas Addison Carrs and  William Webster on the maternal side.

He lived in and out of Crane until he joined the Navy in 1941.  He was at Pearl Harbor December 7th and later participated in 10 major Pacific battles, retiring as Chief Petty Officer in  1960.

According to Syd, "Dad was rejected in the WW1 draft because he had flat feet.  Come WW2, he was drafted at the age of 43.  He and I had some good times when I was home. People wouldn't believe that we were father and  son, so we just told them that we were brothers."
