ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Leon Fredrick has been involved in journalism in some form for all but
the first few years of his life. After serving in both Atlantic and Pacific
in the United States Coast Guard in World War II, he attended Pittsburg,
Kan., State Teachers College and the University of Arkansas. Getting the
bug to get into business for himself, he left college and, with his sister
and brother-in-law, Duke and Betty Williams, leased a weekly newspaper
at Fredericktown, Mo. The owner sold the newspaper after a year. He then
worked as a Linotype operator and printer for six years before establishing
the Stone County Republican. He published that newspaper for 10 years before
selling it. After starting and then selling a weekly newspaper at Boliver,
Mo., he worked in the editorial department for various publication, ending
up as a news editor for Billboard Publications in Nashville. He published
the Mountain Echo at Ironton, Mo., The American Showman, an international
entertainment trade magazine, and the Aurora Advertiser before retiring.
He has been Entertainment Editor of the Branson Country Review since its
debut. This is his first book.
