MAUDE E. REMBY GRANDSTAFF CRISS - Age 81 died on October 24, 1972 in Lawrence Douglas Co KS. She was born March 21, 1891, in Duroc, Benton Co MO, the daughter of Rosa Belle BRADLEY and Jesse REMBY, and step-daughter of John Richman ROBERTS of Shannon Co MO. Maude lived in the Buckeye township of Shannon County for some years, and there met her first husband, Edward GRANDSTAFF, son of John Howard and Eliza Ellen NORRIS GRANDSTAFF. They were married on January 19, 1911 at the home of her mother and stepfather, John and Rosa Belle ROBERTS. He died on Nov. 13, 1932 in Kentucky. She married William Milton 'Bill' CRISS on October 6, 1943 at Oskaloosa Jefferson Co KS. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1972. She was a member of the Perry Church of Christ. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Velma FOWLER, Grantville KS, Mrs. Mildred SIMMONS and Mrs. Margaret KEMPTER, both of Lawrence KS; Mrs. Ruby POWERS, Cedar Rapids, IA; and Mrs. Ruth COLE, Seattle, WA.: four sons, Melvin GRANDSTAFF and Marvin GRANDSTAFF, both of Perry KS, D. E. GRANDSTAFF, Oakley KS, and Clarence GRANDSTAFF, Topeka KS;. two step sons, Wilbur CRISS, Eudora KS, and Eugene CRISS, Chandler, IN.; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy ROBERTS ALLEN, Winona, MO; and Mrs. Goldie ROBERTS SLOAN, Lawrence KS; two brothers, Earl ROBERTS, Lawrence, KS, and Lee ROBERTS, Neosho MO; and several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services were held on October 27, 1972, at 2 p.m. at the Perry Church of Christ in Perry KS. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry KS.  Submitted by Willa Grandstaff Norwood.
