Mary Matilda Miner Bramlet Graham Freeman, widow of Andrew Jackson Freeman, is buried beside him in one of the graves now marked with fieldstones. She was the informant on his death certificate.

Mary Matilda Miner, daughter of Susan Brown and Montgomery Miner and granddaughter of Susan Briley and Daniel Looney Miner Sr. of Sumner Co., Tenn., and Gallatin Co., Ill., first married Henry Coleman Bramlet in 1871. I am a direct descendant of Mary Matilda and Henry Coleman Bramlet.

Marriage license and record for Henry Coleman Bramlet and Mary Matilda "Matildy" Miner: "Be it Known, That on this 8th day of March 1871, Marriage License issued to Mr. Henry C. Bramlet and Miss Mary M. Miner Thos. A. Jones, Clerk. State of Illinois Saline County I, C. W. Threlkeld a Minister of the Gospel hereby certify that on the 11th day of March 1871 I joined in Marriage Mr. Henry C. Bramlet with Miss Mary M. Miner agreeably to the authority given in the above License and the custom and laws of this State. Given under my hand and seal this 11th day of March A.D. 1871 C. W. Threlkeld Minister of the Gospel."

Henry Coleman Bramlet, born circa 1848 in Saline Co., Ill., is the son of Rebecca Jane Hanley and Thomas Brown Bramlet of Saline Co., Ill., and Texas Co., Mo.

After Henry Coleman Bramlet died, sometime before March 24, 1878, during the family's migration from Saline Co., Ill., to Missouri, Mary Matilda continued on to Missouri with his parents and siblings who homesteaded in Texas County. She married James William Graham there on March 24, 1878. They lived in Oregon Co., Mo., in 1880.

Mathew Bramlet, age 4, is my great-grandfather. He died in 1958 in Knox Co., Ill.

After James William Graham died Mary Matilda married Andrew Jackson Freeman after 1880 and before 1900 and lived in Carter Co., Mo., in 1900-1911. She died after June 26, 1911, and most likely was buried in one of the graves now marked with fieldstones beside Andrew and near her brother George Loila Miner's grave in Freeman Cemetery a few miles south of Fremont, Carter Co., Mo.

Andrew Jackson Freeman served about nine and a half months as a Confederate soldier and was ill for about three and a half months before he left his unit, according to his NARA Compiled Service Records (Film M270 Roll 285):

ANDREW J. (JACKSON) FREEMAN (FREMON), Private, Private, Company H, 22nd Regiment (formerly 12th Volunteers), North Carolina Infantry, State Troops, C.S.A. MILITARY SERVICE: Enlisted March 1, 1862, age 21; resident of Stokes Co., N.C.; wounded September 1862; ill with mumps and admitted to  Chimborazo Hospital No. 3, Richmond, Va., Oct. 28, 1862; sent to General Hospital, Danville, Va., Nov. 2, 1862, with bronchitis; deserted Dec. 16, 1862; survived the war. His records are incomplete; he may have returned to his unit and served until the surrender. He lived with his first wife and family in Oregon Co., Mo., in 1880 and moved before 1900 into Carter Co., Mo.
Update 12/14/09: Two corrections: Andrew was age 23 at his enlistment, not 21. My mistake. And, he lived in Oregon Co., Mo., in 1880 with two children in his household. (Wife not listed.)
