Taylor Cemetery

Polk Twp T54R29S03 SE ¼ of SE 1/4

Location: Just over the Caldwell County Missouri Line into Ray County Missouri, about 4 ½ miles southwest of Polo, MO. The cemetery is located off C Hwy towards Elmira. When C Hwy takes a wide left turn, 230th street will go straight. Turn on 230th street. Go about 1 mile and then turn left onto Davis road. You will see the Watkins Brothers sign on the left and follow their private dirt road about ¼ of a mile and you will run right into it. It is owned presently by Watkins Brothers and nearby on the property is an indigent cemetery in use today. The actual Taylor Cemetery hasn't been used since 1900. Some of the heavy stones were turned over. Some cattle have been in the cemetery because it is not fenced. Some of the headstones are broken in half and foliage covered them up. It has been cleaned up in the past but is overgrown again. Very poor shape. Ray County Library (big black cemetery binder): The cemetery is about 1 mile back west of the road and the transcriber had to walk to it.
