Funeral services for Christine Morgan, 71, of West Plains, were held Oct. 14 at the Free Union Church of Christ in West Plains. Burial was in Free Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Morgan died Oct. 9, 2006, at her home. She was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Ott, Ark., the daughter of W. D. and Maggie Lucille (Sasnett) Driver. She and Clarence Morgan Jr. were married Jan. 27, 1952, in West Plains.
She attended school in Koshkonong. She had worked at I.C.C. College and as a caregiver. She was known as "Mom" at Ricky D's, enjoyed traveling and meeting people. Her family, including her children and grandchildren, were a very important part of her life.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband, Clarence; two children, Rick Dean Morgan and his wife, Patty, of South Fork and Vickey Dian Morgan and special friend, Jill Shelton, of Mountain Home, Ark.; five grandchildren, Jeff Cook and his wife, Mary Beth, Rhonda Cook, Tim Cook, Ryan Morgan and his wife, Yuliya, and Calvin Morgan; three great-grandchildren, Branda Cook, Chae Cook and Caleb Cook; two brothers, Dwayne Driver and his wife, Merriell, of Creve Coeur, Ill., and Marvin Driver and his wife, Georgia, of Caulfield; one sister, Juanita Garris of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and seven sisters.
Memorials can be made to Free Union Cemetery or the West Plains Senior Citizens Center and can be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains.

Funeral services for Onard Wesley Hambelton, 73, of Gainesville, were held Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with E.J. Hampton officiating. Burial with military honors was in Patrick Cemetery.
Mr. Hambelton died Oct. 11, 2006, at his home. He was born March 1, 1933, in Ozark County, the son of Alvin and Ruth (Strong) Hambelton. He and Elma Jean Friend were married Aug. 23, 1952, in Yellville, Ark.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School and worked as a carpenter
Mr. Hambelton is survived by his wife, Elma Jean; three daughters, Nora Perry and her husband, Lonnie, of San Benito, Texas, Lisa Belt and her husband, Sid, of West Plains, Teresa Fare and her husband, Robert, of Caulfield; two sons, Guy Hambelton and his wife, Doris, and Floyd Hambelton, all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Justin Perry, Michelle Hambelton, Michael Belt and Sarah, William Belt, Bethany Belt, Raechel and Derrick Roberts and Robbie Fare; great-grandchildren, Tabby Hambelton, Andrea Belt, Brandy Belt, Josalyn Roberts and Kennedy Roberts; brothers, Owen Hambelton of Gainesville, Joe Hambelton and his wife, Alice, of Denver, Colo., John Hambelton and his wife, Barbara, of Bridgeton, Ray Hambelton and his wife, Vonda, of Sparta, and Jim Hambelton and his wife, Linda, of Gainesville; one sister, Ruby Stover of West Plains; and several nieces and nephews.

Bruce E. Fell, 62, of Theodosia, died Oct. 10, 2006.
Mr. Fell was born Jan. 13, 1944, in Lindenwood, Ill., the son of Glenn A. and Mildred (Ferris) Fell.
He was of the Baptist faith. He retired in 2004 as a truck driver for Bryant Plastics. Before moving to the Ozarks, he farmed in Marshfield, Wis.
Mr. Fell is survived by one son, Bruce T. Fell and his wife, Rebecca, of Argusville, N.D.; one daughter, Eursla A. Wolf and her husband, Jeff, Buttonwillow, Ill.; longtime partner, Mildred Smith of Theodosia, her daughter, Sheri Smith and family; one brother, Kenneth Fell and his wife, Ruth, of Rockford, Ill.; and three sisters, Patricia Byas and her husband, Bill, of Stillman Valley, Ill., Elaine Dyal and her husband, Thomas, of Lebanon and Brenda Anderson and her husband, LaWayne, of Chetek, Wis.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clayton Fell; his parents; four brothers, Stanley A. Fell, Roger Fell, John "Jack" Fell and Charles Fell; and one sister, Shirley Moody.

Amos Owen Evans, 71, of Marionville, formerly of Dawt and Dora, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Springfield.
Mr. Evans was born June 22, 1935, in Dawt, the son of Oliver and Rilla Callicott Evans. He and Alice Lands Welker were married Dec. 30, 1986, in Pottersville.
He graduated from Gainesville High School. He had been a Mason and before his retirement, Mr. Evans was employed as a sawyer for Vermillion Wood Products at Billings.
Mr. Evans was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ball Church of Christ.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Alice; one daughter, Chiquita Evans and her husband, Kelly Sutton, of Mountain Home, Ark.; seven step-children, Maxine Adkins, and her husband, Curtis, of Evanston, Wyo., Stan Welker and his wife, Paula, of Caulfield, Cathy Welker of West Plains, Donna Holliday and her husband, Lester, of Marionville, Robin Henry and her husband, Robert of Thayer, Nancy Holliday and her husband, Ray, of Aurora, and Christina Hodgson and her husband, Jim, of Udall; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Lisa Welker; one step-grandson, Michael Flygare; two brothers, J.C. Evans and Gene Evans; and one sister, Doris Wallace.

Funeral services for Mary Cooper, 65, of Gainesville, were held Saturday, Oct. 14, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Ron Richardson officiating. Burial was in Howards Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooper died Oct. 10, 2006, at her home. She was born March 27, 1941, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of William and Fannie Gertrude (Crable) Watson. She and Curtis Cooper were married Oct. 17, 1959, in Collins.
She was an employee of Baxter Healthcare Corp. for 29 years.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her husband, Curtis; two daughters, Terry Beyen of Mountain Home, Ark., and Lisa Luckey of Mountain Grove; two sons, Doug Cooper and Andy Cooper, both of Mountain Home, Ark.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Wemple of Dallas, Texas, and Nancy Collins of Norris, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Brandon Luckey.
Pallbearers were Gary Luckey, Landon Luckey, David Beyen, Jay Combs, Kyle Cooper and Leon Wolford.

Funeral services for Robert Joseph “Bob” McGinnis, 56, were held Saturday, Oct. 28 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Pastors Dana McKillop and brother-in-law Raymond MacKillop officiating. Burial was in Center Point Cemetery.
Mr. McGinnis died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at St. John’s Regional Health Care in Springfield. He was born Nov. 23, 1949, in Gainesville, the son of J.D. McGinnis and Vera (Hambelton) Lickey. On Sept. 25, 1971, he and Beverly MacKillop were married in Springfield.
A graduate of Gainesville High School, he attended College of the Ozarks for two years. He worked in the steel industry from 1975 through 1983 and then worked as a stockbroker and consultant for a Wall Street publication for nearly five years in Connecticut.
While living inNew England, Mr. McGinnis became a minister of the Zion East Gate Church in Webster, Mass., and continued preaching for the remainder of his life.
After he sustained an illness, the family returned to the Ozarks in 1991. He then began cutting firewood and hauling hay to provide for his family. He continued to preach and help those in need by providing free firewood or labor.
Bob’s first priority was God, followed by his family. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and many friends.
Mr. McGinnis is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Noble; five children: Brooks and his wife Heather McGinnis of Higginsville; Rodney McGinnis of MountainHome, Ark., Ryan McGinnis of Springfield; Marika and her husband Clay Patterson of Noble; Andrea and her husband Dustin Drollinger of Grain Valley; eight grandchildren: Samari and Sijan McGinnis, Madison and Gabriel McGinnis, Brent Drollinger, Gracie, Rylee Jo and Brody Patterson; sisters, Carol and her husband Jim Looney of Harrisonville, and Kathy and her husband John Estes of St. Louis; his mother, Vera Lickey and friend, Charles Mayfield of St. Louis; his church family; and many acquaintances, whom he considered friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. McGinnis; a daughter, Candace McGinnis; niece, Shaela Lynn Looney; grandparents, Albert and Winnie Belle Hambelton; and step-father, Walter Lickey.
Pallbearers for the service were Brooks McGinnis, Rodney McGinnis, Ryan McGinnis, Marika Patterson, Andrea Drollinger, Clay Patterson, Dustin Drollinger, Danny Clark and Gary Veazey.

Funeral services for Flona E. Isom, 91, of Springfield were held Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Smith Chapel Church of Christ with Halbert Smith officiating and burial in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Isom died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at the Primrose Place in Springfield. She was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Zanoni, the daughter of Aaron P. and Alphabeth (Luna) Morrison. On Dec. 25, 1935, Flona and Andy Isom walked down the creek from Zanoni to Uncle Will Young’s where he married them.
A member of the Church of Christ, Flona was one of 12 children. She loved and cared about all her family.
She is survived by her son Jim Isom and his wife Pam of Crane; grandchildren, Julie Dyl and husband Steve and Jeffrey Isom; two step-grandchildren, Jason Lang and Jeremy Covrig; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kellie Lang and Regan Covrig; one brother, Dr. Verd Morrison of Branson; and one sister, Classie Shanks of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, who died Jan. 11, 1995; her parents; and brothers and sisters: Afton Morrison, Nola (Morrison) Crecelius, Lola Dammen, Loyd Morrison, Dawse Morrison, Dalton Morrison, Van Morrison, Ree Gray and Bron Morrison.

John Thomas Hughes, 43, of Theodosia died Friday, Oct. 27, at Gainesville Health Care Center.
Mr. Hughes was born Jan. 5, 1963 in Wasco, Calif., the son of Oscar Arnold and Ruby (Parsons) Hughes.
He was an auto mechanic.
Mr. Hughes is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Michele Hughes, and one son, Shawn Thomas Hughes, both of Springfield; one granddaughter, Aerianna Michelle Ashworth; his mother, Ruby Hughes of Theodosia; and two sisters, Vernie Lona Stein of Anaheim, Calif., and Patricia Kay Hale of San Francisco, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Arnold Hughes.

Funeral services for Tommy Dean, 83, of Gainesville were held Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Wayne Stewart officiating and burial in Patrick Cemetery.
Mr. Dean died Oct. 27 at his home. He was born March 28, 1923, in Gainesville, the son of James and Kathryn (Beard) Dean. On Oct. 20, 1958, he and Martha Shanks were married in Gainesville.
He was a farm laborer and a member of the Baptist church.
Mr. Dean is survived by his wife, Martha; one daughter, Karla Hathcock and her husband Joe of Gainesville; three grandchildren, Joey Hathcock, Tracey Hathcock and Travis Hathcock; and one sister, Nova Pilkington of Marshfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services for Earl Crawford, 65, of Howards Ridge were held Monday,Oct. 30 at Howards Ridge Cemetery with Ed Smith officiating.
Mr. Crawford died October 26, 2006, at his home. He was born Dec. 18, 1940, in Clarkridge, Ark., the son of Johnny W. and Edith (Rife) Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was a truck driver and enjoyed coon hunting with Donny Miller, Wilbern Uchtman and his son,John. He was especially proud of John and his handling of his dogs.
He enjoyed going to registered hunts or to the local coon club. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed just being outdoors.
He enjoyed dirt track car racing and bluegrass music, but his favorite activity was to watch his grandsons play sports.
Mr. Crawford is survived by his son, John Crawford of Howards Ridge; two grandsons, Dalton and Lukas; and one sister, Eva Lois Lewis of Gainesville; a niece, Terri Thompson; nephews, Darin Lewis and Mike Rogers; great-nieces, Melisa Lewis, Hannah Lewis and Misti Snyder; great nephews, Michael Rogers and Rourke Rogers; great-great-niece, Kaleigh Snyder; great-great-nephew, Ryan Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy Crawford; and one sister, Alta Rogers.

Billy Glen Knee, 76, of Gainesville, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at his home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Lebanon, the son of Glenne and Mabel (Babb) Knee. He and Gladys Mae Vucho were married Oct. 17, 1957, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Mr. Knee was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. He was a retired flight engineer.
Mr. Knee is survived by one daughter, Bambi MacMillan and her husband, Mike, of Gainesville; two sons, Glenn Knee of California and Clinton Knee and his wife, Debbie, of Sarahland, Ala.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Knee of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one sister, Carol Mossberger of Fayetteville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, and his parents.

Funeral services for Lois Satterfield, 94, of Gainesville, were Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Ed Smith officiating. Burial was in Isabella Cemetery.
Mrs. Satterfield died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at Gainesville Health Care Center. She was born March 22, 1912, in Dilla, the daughter of Charles Elisha and Louella (Green) Haskins. She and Claud Satterfield were married May 7, 1927, in Isabella.
She was baptized as a young girl and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed writing songs and poetry and pieced many quilts by hand, worked in her garden all summer and enjoyed having her neighbors come to visit.
Mrs. Satterfield is survived by children, Jesse Satterfield of Excelsior Springs, Charles Satterfield of Wasola, Mearl Satterfield of Tecumseh, Glenn Satterfield of Independence, Hervil Satterfield of Kansas City, Sue Campbell of Springfield and Betty Moon of Leesburg, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 48 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud; her parents; one daughter, Nina Marie; one grandson, Harold Don Satterfield; two sisters, Alice Hollingshead and Nora Marie Ledbetter; and three brothers, Walter Haskins, Glenn Haskins and Herbert Haskins.
Pallbearers were Jesse Satterfield, Charles Satterfield, Mearl Satterfield, Glenn Satterfield, Hervil Satterfield and Roger Satterfield.

Graveside services for Eunice McClelland, 94, of Rainier, Ore., were Monday, Nov. 20 at Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia.
Mrs. McClelland died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at her home. She was born July 19, 1912, in Theodosia, the daughter of Walter H. and Margaret Cordelia (Mahan) Herd. She and Jess McClelland were married July 23, 1942.
She helped her parents run the country store in Theodosia for many years and was postmaster for many of those years. She also drove the truck that hauled livestock to the auction yards and dry goods for the store.
Mrs. McClelland is survived by one niece, Mona Gorsline of Rainier, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess, in 1952; one brother, Herman Herd of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one sister, Ruby Turley of Rainier, Ore.

Private memorial services and burial are planned for Esther Elizabeth Young, 87, of Caulfield.
Mrs. Young died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Marysville, Kan., the daughter of Floyd James and Anita Lavender (Welch) Fletcher.
Mrs. Young is survived by two daughters, Susan Maxey and Elizabeth Chesterman, both of Caulfield; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services for Ila R. Smith, 84, were Monday, Nov. 20 at the Ball Church of Christ with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial was in Ball Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, Ark. She was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Ozark County, the daughter of James Nelson and Orpha (Morrison) Lynn. She and Estel William Smith were married Dec. 30, 1941, in Tecumseh.
A member of Dawt Church of Christ, she was baptized at an early age. She worked alongside her husband on their dairy, helping with milking chores for many years. She enjoyed needlework, quilting and volunteering with the Dora Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She also enjoyed family get-togethers and especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith is survived by four daughters, Aleta Collins and her husband, Bill, of Gainesville, Nelda Smith and her husband, Bill, of Dora, Sylvia Jones and her husband, Kendall, of Rockaway Beach, and Marsha Birdsong of Hagerstown, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Willliam H. Lynn of Springfield; and two sisters, Faith Johnson of San Diego, Calif., and Linda Nielsen of Summit, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Estel; her parents; and two brothers, U.J. Lynn and Deon Lynn.

Funeral services for Stanley Eugene Chaney, 66, of Gainesville were held Wednesday, May 23 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Ron Pinckney officiating. Burial was in Centerpoint Cemetery.
Mr. Chaney died May 19, 2007, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 15, 1941, at Gainesville, the son of Leonard and Hattie (Wilson) Chaney. He and Barbara Farless were married Nov. 3, 1958, in Gainesville.
He was a lifelong resident of Ozark County. He attended school at Centerpoint and Gainesville High School. He worked with his father, Leonard, in the business his father established, Chaney Monuments. He also raised cattle for many years.
After selling Chaney Monuments, he became a truck driver, and drove for several years with his wife. After retiring from driving a truck, he began working at Nash and Sons and continued to work there for 20 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Frontier General Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting with friends, attending church and listening to gospel music.
Mr. Chaney is survived by his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Arlene Merriman and her husband, Robert, of Gainesville; one son, Kerry Chaney of Springfield; grandchildren, Amanda DeVries and her husband, Jimmy, Bobbi Agnew and her husband, Mike, Kristy Chaney and Cody Chaney; great-grandchildren, Alexis DeVries, Jaima DeVries, Justus DeVries and Allison Chaney; one sister, Juanita Smith of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Amy Clark, Ruby Spurlock and Hattie Fay Chaney; and one brother, Williard Chaney.

Funeral services for Willard Don Herd, 83, of Collins, will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 28, at Hathaway-Peterman Chapel in Wheatland with Elder Allen Kauffman officiating. Burial with military honors by the Galmey VFW Post #9638 will be in the Holsapple-Freeman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27 at the funeral home.
Mr. Herd died Dec. 23, 2006, at his home, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Isabella, the son of Joe and Mae Herd.
Mr. Herd is survived by two daughters, Sherry Herd of Collins and Louise DeHart of Weaubleau; two sons, Kevin Herd and Dale Herd, both of Collins; six grandchildren, Shelly, Casey, Nathan, Rachael, Aaron and Sheala; four great-grandchildren, Levi, Laine, Valory and Tyler; two sisters, Donna Hobbs of Kansas City and Bonnie Johnson of Dixon; and one brother, Dallas Herd of Gainesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Lorene (Hackler) Herd; his parents; and four sisters, Alaska Swearengin, Stella Trotter, Blanche Honeycutt and Norma Harris.

Alaska Irene Herd Swearengin, 89, Collins, Mo., died May 10, 2005, in her home.
She was born January 20, 1916, at Isabella, Mo., to Joe E. and Alta Mae Wallace Herd. She graduated from Gainesville High School. She married Roy L. Swearengin in 1935, and he preceded her in death in 2003. They lived in Theodosia, Mo., until 1952 when they moved to Collins.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Cassell, Stockton; Thelma Underwood, El Dorado Springs; two sons, Leslie Swearengin, Olathe, Kansas, and Darrell Swearengin of Stockton; two brothers, Dallas Herd, Noble, Mo., and Willard Herd, Collins; two sisters, Donna Hobbs, Raytown, and Bonnie Johnson, Dixon; 16 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services were May 14 in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel, Bolivar, with Rev. Allen Kauffman officiating. Burial was in Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery, Collins.

Ellouese Upton, 78, passed away on Aug. 12, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kan.
She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Locust, Mo., the daughter of Odes K and Doshia (Webster) Upton. Ellouese lived in the Kansas City area for over 30 years. A true adventurer, she also lived in Florida, Arizona, Washington, Alaska, Mexico, Missouri and Kansas.
Ellouese is survived by her children, Gary Bennett, Kay Clark (Steve), Karen Rehm, Karol Bennett-Brandt (Tony), Kathy Breen, Katrina Bennett and Karla Backlund; her brothers, Doyn Upton (Tansy), Bobby Upton (Irene) and Ned Upton (Dorothy); her sister-in-law, Lourine Upton; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gene Upton and her daughter-in-law, Terri Bennett.
In the last few months, Ellouese liked visiting with her friends and family and especially enjoyed her tomato and flower gardens and her cat, Angelica. She loved her books, music and paintings. Ellouese was an activist for a number of social issues, including peace and a sustainable planet. She was an inspiration to many and we miss her already.

Helen Homler Sept. 9, 1919 - Feb. 7, 2008
Helen Homler, 88, of Sulphur Springs, Ark., departed this life peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at her home.
Helen began her journey on Sept. 9, 1919, in Isabella, Mo., daughter of the late Jess and Martha (Beavers) Miller. On Dec. 22, 1966, she was united in marriage to Vinsten Homler and together they shared 24 years before his passing on Sept. 5, 1991.
Throughout her life she was a hard working and devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She enjoyed life on the family farm where she and Vinsten raised chickens for several years. She was a gifted seamstress who made numerous quilts for her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vinsten Homler; a sister, Pearl Bratton; and three brothers, Walter, Elmer and Henry Miller. Helen is survived by two sons; two daughters; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Helen Homler were 1 p.m. Monday at the Wann Cemetery near Sulphur Springs, Ark., with Pastor Richard Hart officiating. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers were Byron Homler, Bobby Homler, Clay Wilson, Eddie Drake, Jeremy Tarvin and Ron Hutchinson. The family received friends on Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 p.m. in the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes. David Reese Jones IV
Memorial services for David Reese Jones IV, 61, of Tampa, Fla., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in the First Christian Church in Gainesville, Mo.
David was born October 16, 1946, in Panama City, Fla., the son of David Reese and Louise Andrews Jones. On December 19, 1974, in Columbia, he married Sue Ann Luna of Gainesville. They have two children, Sam, a Ph.D. candidate in chemical engineering at the University of Florida, and Reagan, a third-year medical student at the University of Miami.
He is survived by his wife, a part-time Ozark County resident and features editor at the Ozark County Times; their children; and one sister, Susan Jones, of Albuquerque, N.M. He was a Vietnam-era veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. After earning a Ph.D. in chemistry in 1976, from the University of Missouri, David worked in industrial and research positions in New Jersey, Ohio, Texas and Florida. With Owens-Corning, and later with the U. S. government-funded Strategic Highway Research Project, he developed and shared expertise in asphalt-chemistry research. He was instrumental in developing an asphalt-chemistry graded performance specification that now is used on highways throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Since 1993, he and his family have lived in Tampa, Fla. He was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed overnight float trips with his children and friends on the streams in Ozark County, and fishing on the Gulf of Mexico with Sam and their friends. He died Friday morning at the controls of his fishing boat, the Catch and Keep, as he and a friend headed out the Anclote River, bound for the Gulf.

Ozark County coroner dies at 53
The Ozark County coroner died early Thursday morning, just hours after working a shooting in Gainesville.
Dave Goodnight, 53, had some heart problems and apparently died of a heart attack around 6 a.m., said close family friend Olline Yocham. "He had been sick, but this was unexpected," she said. Yocham, 86, said she's worked with Goodnight and his family at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville for 18 years. She joked that she had unofficially adopted him as her own son. "He's just a super nice person," she said. "I couldn't say enough good things about him ... Our community has just lost a very good person." Yocham said
Goodnight was married and had a son in his late teens or early 20s. She said visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Gainesville and the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
