Mary Iva Everhart, 86, Skidmore, died Wednesday, Feb 20, at Bethesda Nursing Home, Tarkio [Missouri].

Born Aug 6, 1904 in Guilford [Missouri] to Jessie Franklin and Priscilla Anna Carter Weathermon, she was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church, Conception Junction [Missouri]. She married William Ezra Everhart in Savannah [Missouri] in Oct 7, 1925.

Mrs Everhart was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, four grandchildren, three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include five sons, William Jr., Skidmore [Missouri], Jesse, Hopkins [Missouri], Joe, Blockton, Iowa, Eldon, Skidmore [Missouri], and Robert, Clearmont [Missouri]; three daughters, Anna Mae Banks, Bartlesville, Okla., Ermil Vance, Tarkio [Missouri], and Phyllis Morrison, New Market, Iowa; 33 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, Feb 24, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with the Rev Ray Forsyth officiating. Burial will be at Quitman Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 pm Saturday, Feb 23, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville [Missouri].

Funeral services for Jesse Everhart, Jr., age 78 of Bedford, who died Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at Mercy Hospital in Corning, were held Saturday, March 25, 2000 at 10 am at the Ritchie Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Mogler officiating. Interment with military rites accorded by the John F. Hardin American Legion Post No 164 were held in the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Memorials can be directed to the Bedford Ambulance.

Jesse Fay Everhart, Jr was born March 3, 1922 in Barnard, Mo., the son of Jesse F. Everhart and Lura L. Leiby Everhart. Jesse grew up attending rural school in the Arkoe, Mo area and the Maryville High School. On December 9, 1939 he was united in marriage to Eva G. Shell at the Baptist Church parsonage in Maryville, Mo. To this union four sons were born, Jesse III, Donald, William, and Frederick.

At the age of 14, Jesse went to work for area farmers and was married in 1939. In 1942, Jesse and Eva moved to Bedford where he worked for Cudahys Farm & Produce for a year before joining the United States Navy serving in the Pacific Campaign, stationed in Guam as an airplane mechanic during World War II. After the war he went back to work for Cudahys driving a truck and delivering eggs and cream. In 1952 he went to work for Auto Transport in Kansas City, Kan., hauling cars for 28 years, retiring in 1980 when he went to work on his farm four miles northwest of Bedford, where he lived until his health forced him to enter the Bedford Nursing & Rehab Center.

Jesse enjoyed the farm and the outdoors. He had seen much of the country and world, but still enjoyed traveling, enjoying many cruises over the years.

Left to cherish Jesse's memory are his wife Eva of Bedford; four sons, Jesse F. Everhart, III and wife Elaine of Camanche [Iowa]; Donald R. Everhart and wife Kay of Bedford [Iowa]; William Everhart and wife Mary of Williamsburg [Iowa]; and Fredrick Everhart and wife Cathy of Grandview, Mo; a brother, William D. Everhart and wife Patsy of Maryville, Mo; a sister, Elda Coy and husband Glenn of Maryville, Mo; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Jesse in death are his parents, Jesse and Lura; a sister, Anna Marie Bartholomew; and a granddaughter, Kemery Ann Everhart.

William Ezra "Bill" Everhart Jr, 65, Skidmore, died Friday, Nov 5, 1993 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville [Missouri].

He was born May 31, 1928, at Conception Junction, to William Ezra and Mary Iva Weathermon Everhart. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in Maryville in 1945. On April 15, 1956, he married Marian Jean John at Burlington Junction [Missouri].

Mr Everhart, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, had been a custodian for 17 years in the Skidmore School retiring in 1988.

His memberships included the United Methodist Church; the Nodaway County Firefighters Association; Sam Albright Post No. 411 American Legion; Skidmore Lodge NO 511 A.F. & A.M.; and the Eastern Lodge, all of Skidmore [Missouri].

His parents and a sister, Mary I. Nelson, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, David Wendell Everhart, Skidmore; one daughter, Cynthia Lucille Crawford, Maryville; four brothers, Jesse E. and Robert D. Everhart, both of Hopkins, Eldon L. Everhart, Skidmore, and Joseph R. Everhart, Blockton, Iowa; three sisters, Ermil Vance, Tarkio, Phyllis J. Morrison, New Market, Iowa, and Anna M. Banks, Bartlesville, Okla, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov 10 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore. The Rev Mary Lou Keyser officiated.

Cook, John Henry, was born in Howard County, Missouri on Feb 7, 1842, where he grew to manhood. When he was twenty-three years of age he joined the Union Army, was a member of Co G, 50th Regiment of Infantry of Missouri Volunteers. He was in the service 8 months and 16 days, receiving his honorable discharge Aug 5, 1865.

After returning from the army he lived in Randolph county, Missouri, near Higbee, where he was married to Correna Alice Brooks on Dec 23, 1880. To this union were born six children, four sons and two daughters. One son, Joseph Newton, died in infancy. The other children were all present at the bedside, O.L. Cook of College Springs, W.R. Cook of Guernsey, Wyo., J.W. Cook of Pickering, Mo, Mrs A.T. Sexton of Merrill, Iowa, and Mrs A.L. Lane of Guernsey, Wyo.

In 1901, Mr Cook moved with his family to Nodaway County, Missouri where they lived until 1908, when they came to College Springs [Iowa], on April 2, 1911, his faithful wife passed away.

Mr Cook united with the Christian church when a young man and remained a faithful member until his death. He was devoted to his family and was a loyal citizen, esteemed by all who knew him.

He quietly passed away after a few days serious illness on March 24, 1926 at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 17 days, leaving to mourn his departure his five children and eleven grandchildren, besides numerous friends.

The funeral services were held Thursday, March 25th at the College Springs [Iowa] M.E. Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev A.C. Bonham, the body being laid to rest on Workman Chapel Cemetery, southeast of Clearmont [Missouri].

Corum, Sarah Catherine Horn - Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, June 29, for Mrs Sarah Catherine Corum, who died Tuesday at the home of her son, Robert, and Mrs Corum, two miles east of Hopkins, Mo. The pastor, P.H. Peterson, conducted the services. Two vocal selections were given by Miss Ruth Lincoln and Bob Gill accompanied by Mrs Vella Gill. The casket bearers were Clarence Jones, Herman Jones, Wayne Jones, Galen Corum, Leroy Corum and Glen Harmon. Burial was in the High Prairie Cemetery at Elmo.

Sarah Catherine Corum was born March 29, 1857, near Barbourville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Thomas and Amelia Ann Horn. She passed from this life June 13, 1944, at the home of her son Robert, with whom she made her home for many years, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 15 days.

She was married to William Thomas Corum February 23, 1871, near Barbourville, Ky. To this union seven children were born. Two of the children and the husband preceded her in death. Those left to mourn her passing are Mrs Anna Benton of Indianola, Nebr, Mrs Ella Jones of Tarkio, Mo, Thomas of Ordway, Colo, Andrew of Pocatella, Idaho, and Robert of Hopkins, Mo.

In her early womanhood she placed her faith in Christ, joining the Christian Church of Blanchard, Iowa. She was always a faithful follower of the Savior and helped with the church as long as her health permitted.

Early in her married life she moved with her husband and family from Kentucky to Missouri, where she spent all her life except 22 years near Plainview, Nebr.

She was left a widow when her children were small but she bore her burdens with a smile and today she leaves a group of honorable men and women to carry on where she left off. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her passing 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Shafer, Ida Belle Thompson, third daughter of William J. and Mary M. Thompson, was born August 27, 1872, at Gosport, Ind, and passed away at her home in Hopkins, Mo, on Saturday morning, Nov 4th, being at the time of her death 72 years, 2 months and 8 days.

She came with her parents when but seven years of age to a farm near Hopkins, Mo, where she lived until her marriage Jan 14, 1895, to Peter W. Shafer.

They lived on a farm near Hopkins until about thirty years ago when they retired from the farm and moved to Hopkins, where Mrs Shafer lived until her death. Her husband preceded her in death, having died November 16, 1925.

She united with the Christian church at Hopkins in 1910 and through the years was an active and faithful member of the church.

Surviving are five sisters, Mrs Alice Snodgrass and Mrs Ernest Nicholas of Hopkins, Misses Effie and Jessie Thompson of Braddyville, and Mrs H.J. Nicholas of Romulus, Mich and one brother, C.C. Thompson of Romulus, Mich. One sister preceded her in death, Hazel D. Thompson of Braddyville, and a brother, Wilbur F. Thompson, of Doland, South Dakota.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Nov 6, at the Christian church at Hopkins. The pastor, Rev P.H. Peterson, was assisted by Rev Dan R. Gott of the Baptist church.

The music was furnished by a mixed quartette composed of Mrs Milton Engle, Mrs A.F. Mutti Jr, Lawrence Wiley and W.H. Hansford.

The casket bearers were Frank Andrews, Jim Nicholas, Ernest Snodgrass, Ernest Miller, Andy Morehouse, and DeLoss Nicholas. Burial was in the Hopkins cemetery.

Maumee, Ohio - David Edward Guthland, 32, Maumee, Ohio, formerly of this area, died unexpectedly Saturday (Nov 17, 1984) at Parklane Memorial Hospital, Raytown.

The son of Robert Edward Guthland and Lillian I. Sickels Guthland, he was born March 22, 1952, in Mt Ayr, Iowa.

On May 25, 1974, he married Donna Joyce McFarland in Maryville [Missouri].

Mr Guthland had been a systems engineer at Phillips Petroleum Co for six years and was a resident of Maumee for six years.

He was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. He obtained his bachelors of science degree in 1974, and a nation honor fellowship at Rice University, Houston, Texas.

Mr Guthland was a member of the Perrysburg Alliance Church, Perrysburg, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Guthland, of the home; one son, Aaron Andrew Guthland, of the home; one daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Guthland, of the home; his parents, Robert and Lillian Guthland, Maryville; two brothers, Rex Robert Guthland, Osceola, Iowa, and Scott William Guthland, Maryville; one sister, Christine Marie Guthland, St Joseph; one grandmother, Bertha Guthland, Ironton; one grandfather, Rex Sherman Sickels, Mt Ayr, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Services are planned for 2 pm Tuesday (Nov 20, 1984) at the Maryville First Baptist Church with the Rev Bob Webb officating.

Burial will be at Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

Visitation is set for 7 to 8 pm Monday evening at Price Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.

Miller, Minnie Gertrude Sanders Coston - Minnie Gertrude Sanders, daughter of Thomas J. and Ida Sanders, was born July 8, 1880, in Holt County, Mo., in the Harmony neighborhood, where she grew to womanhood and departed this life at her home near New Market, Iowa, Jan 3, 1935, at the age of 54 years and 6 months.

She was married to Eugene Coston April 17, 1898. To this union seven children were born: Mrs Flossie Lockhart, Wetmore, Kans., Lester and Lloyd of Skidmore, Mo., Mrs Florence McGinness, Clarinda, Dallas of Maitland, Mo., Glen and Walter of New Market.

She lived near Maitland and Skidmore until 1929 when she moved to her home.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1920, and her father in 1932.

April 17, 1930, she was married to Semmer Miller of New Market. Besides her husband and children, she leaves her mother; two brothers, Charles Sanders of Giltner, Nebr., and Milbern Sanders of Rapid City, S.D.; one sister, Mrs Vernie Bartram, Skidmore, Mo., and ten grandchildren besides other relatives and friends.As a mother, no more self-sacrificing and devoted ever lived. As a neighbor none was more kind. She became a member of the Christian church in Skidmore, Mo., in 1921.

The funeral services were held at the Walker Funeral home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev B.F. Hall, pastor of the Church of Christ at Clarinda. Interment was in Old Memory cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Wells, Dennis McAlpin, Ed Ruck-[obit cut off]

Stearns, Mamie S. Hamilton - Mrs Glen Stearns died at her home two miles south of Arapahoe [Nebraska] on Monday forenoon after an illness of three weeks. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereafed husband and three little children. On account of the family being quarantined for scarlet fever no funeral services were held. Short services were conducted at the cemetery by Rev M.C. Galloway of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Rebekahs, the Rebekah brothers acting as pall bearers.

Mamie S. Hamilton was born July 1, 1893 at Bedford, Adams Co [sic, Taylor Co], Iowa. She became a member of the Christian Church at Bedford, Iowa, when she was fifteen years old. She was graduated from the Bedford high school in 1911 and taught school one year. She was married to H.G. Stearns at Bedford, Iowa, August 4, 1912. To this union were born three children; Mahlon Dallas, age 8, Virginia Ruth, age 4, Sara Marie age 21 days. After an illness of three weeks she died at her home near Arapahoe, January 14, 1924 at the age of 31 years, [blank] months and 14 days. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, three children, her mother and three brothers, Howard S. Hamilton of Fairbault, Minn; Leon R. Hamilton of Bedford, Iowa; Mahlon S. Hamilton of Maryville, Mo; and four sisters Mrs C.C. Chapman of Arkansas City, Kans; Marilla Belle Hamilton of Omaha, Nebr; Mrs Harl Fuller of Conway, Iowa, and Violet Hamilton of Omaha, Nebraska.

Leeper, Helen G., Maryville [Missour], died Thursday (Feb 27, 1986) in an Omaha, Neb., hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Roy V. Leeper, of the home, and two sons, William D. Baker and Richard M. Baker.

Services are set for 2 pm Saturday (March 1, 1986) at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton.

Leeper, Mary M. - White Cloud, Kan - Mary Mildred Leeper, 84, White Cloud, died Monday, March 16, 1992, at the Falls City, Neb., hospital.

A native of Linderwood, Iowa, Mrs Leeper, a housewife, had lived most of her life in Rulo, Neb., and White Cloud [Kansas].

In 1941, she married Samuel M. Leeper in Papillion, Neb. He died in 1977.

Mrs Leeper also was preceded in death by a sister, Katheryn Meyers; and two brothers, Pat and John Ritigan.

Surviving: a son, Patrick E. of White Cloud; a daughter, Rosemary Mulliken of Alton, Ill; a sister, Marcellene Evans of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Service: 2 pm Thursday, Clark Funeral Home, Falls City. Burial: Rulo Cemetery.

Leeper, Paul Edward, Maryville [Missouri], died Sunday, May 26, 1991 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville.

He was born in Graham [Missouri] to Hiram L. and Helen Louise Franke Leeper, and was a warranty clerk for Hull & Scott Implement. He was a member of Masonic AF & AM Lodge, Mound City [Missouri], First Presbyterian Church, Maryville, and member of AF & AM Lodge, Maitland [Missouri].

He married Thelma Irene Eckles on Feb 17, 1942 in Maryville.

Leeper was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Paul Marshall, Goldsborough, NC; two daughters, Bernetta Gach, Smithfield, Va, and Helen Ryan, Manhattan, Kan; two grandchildren, Reneta Gach and Alicia Leeper.

The body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 11 am Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with the Rev Robert Ceperly officiating. Masonic services will be held by Masonic AF & AM Lodge No 294, Mound City.

Leeper, William Rites Monday - Funeral services for William Henry Leeper, 86, of Bedford [Iowa] were held June 13 at the Shum-Novinger Funeral Home with Rev John D. Kerr officiating. Mr Leeper died June 10, 1966 at Pearl Terrace Manor here. Interment was at Kirk Cemetery, Allendale, Mo.

William H. Leeper was born to William and Florence Leeper on April 7, 1880 in Decatur county, Ia. His early life was spent in Farragut [Iowa] and Shenandoah [Iowa]. While living in Shenandoah he united with the Baptist church.

On December 23, 1903, he was united in marriage with Debbie E. Spencer. They farmed throughout the midwest. In 1922, they moved to Bedford, where they have lived since, except for two years which they spent in Grant City, Mo.

While in Bedford, he was custodian of the Bedford Presbyterian Church for many years.

Left with memories are his wife and one brother, Harry of Grant City, Mo.

He will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones.

Leeper, Hiram Franklin - MAITLAND - Hiram Franklin Leeper, 77, Maitland [Missouri], died at his home Monday (Dec 19).

He was born July 25, 1905, near Graham, the son of Hiram L. Leeper and Helen Louise Franke Leeper.

Mr Leeper was a farmer and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Graham.

He is survived by one brother, Paul E. Leeper, Maryville; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1 pm Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Maryville.

Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Graham.
