Elmer Freemyer

Elmer Norris Freemyer, 76, Conception Junction, died Saturday, June 30, at his home.

Born Aug. 29, 1913 in Conception Junction to Pern and Hattie Davis Freemyer, Mr. Freemyer was a semi-retired farmer. He was a member of the Guilford Christian Church and Aerie #3669 of Maryville. He married Betty Hutson on Oct. 29, 1945 in Troy, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Gene of Billings, Mont., and Delmar of Conception Junction; a sister, May Throckmorton, St. Joseph; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with Elder Kenneth Nelson officiating.

Burial will be in the Graves Cemetery, Guilford, under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Inc., Maryville.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. An Eagle ritual will take place after visitation.

Elmer Freemyer services held

Services for Elmer N. [orris] Freemyer, 76, Conception  Junction, were held Tuesday, July 3, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with Elder Kenneth Nelson officiating.

The Eagle Ritual was conducted by the FOE Aerie #3669 after visitation on Monday.

Mr. Freemyer died Saturday, June 30, at his home.

Burial was in the Graves Cemetery, Guilford, under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Inc., Maryville.

Pallbearers were Tom Bloom, C.B. Sherry, Lloyd Walker, Junior Farnan, William Carden and Gerald Pedersen. Honorary pallbearers were Art Ebert, Bill Hall, Dale Davis, Albert Goff, Ralph Collins and Doyle Jackson.

Rex Gage

Rex Arlind Gage, 58, Stanberry, died Friday, June 29, at the V.A Medical Center in Kansas City.

Born Feb. 6, 1932, in Pattonsburg, to Elmer and Florence Boatwright Gage, Mr. Gage was a trucking contractor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanberry and the Raymond Sager American Legion Post #260. He married Nancy Norita Arnold on July 24, 1953, in King City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cindy Lane, Stanberry; two brothers, Garry and Max, both of Stanberry; a sister, Fredia Howard, Stanberry; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sunday, July 1, at the First Baptist Church in Stanberry with the Rev. Dick Lionberger officiating.

Burial was in the High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home, Stanberry.

Pallbearers were Don Grantham, Lewis George Messner, James Messner, Harold Peterson, Don Phillips and Dan Phillips.

Robert Jackson

Robert Lee Jackson, 90, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at his home, in the rural Bedford, Iowa, area.  

Born Jan. 1, 1908, in Nodaway County, Mo., to Jacob Orren and Cora Alice Sheley Jackson, he was a farmer.

He married Margaret Frances Thomsen, Dec. 24, 1931, in Maryville.

Mr. Jackson was a life long resident of the Bedford and Hopkins areas. He attended the Valley Community schools.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence Jackson; and a grandson, Jacob Wayne Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, Frederick L. Jackson of Bedford, and Robert D. Jackson of Bedford; a daughter, Virginia Pearl of Liberty; two brothers, Orren Jackson of Bedford and Ernest Jackson of Breckenridge, Mo.; a sister, Lena Strable of Johnston, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will beheld at 1:30p.m., Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Hopkins, with Pastor Susan Stowers officiating.

Burial will be in Hopkins Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Ritchie Funeral Home, Bedford, Iowa.

Vesta O'Dougherty

Vesta B. [eulah] O'Dougherty, 91, Maryville, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Parkdale Manor Nursing Home, Maryville.

Born Oct. 10,1906, in Hopkins, to George Keeper and Mary Caroline Slaughter Kivett, she was a retired teacher and homemaker.

She married Stewart Guardon [Gurden] O'Dougherty, May 19, 1926, in Bedford, Iowa.

Mrs. O'Dougherty was a member of the Baptist Church, Hopkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, [Stewart] Robert O'Dougherty; three sisters; two brothers; and a grandson, Brett Solinger.

Survivors include two daughters, Irma Nicholson of Ravenwood, and Patsy Blanchard of North Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 26, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, at New Hope Cemetery, Hopkins, with Pastor David Wynn officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Orbin Owens

Orbin Clinton Owens, 96, Maryville, died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville. 

Born Feb. 7,1902, in Jonesville, W. V., to Issac and Mary Ellen Orick Owens, he was a farmer and had retired in 1964 from his employment with Meadow Gold Dairy, St. Joseph.

He married Mary Ellen Beattie, May 15, 1925, in Maryville.

A resident of Maryville for the past five years, Mr. Owens was a member of the Bethany Rural Christian Church, Barnard.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Owens and Bobbie Owens; a daughter, Kathryn Owens, four brothers, Henry Owens, Ross Owens, Jack Owens and Curtis Owens; and three sisters, Thelma Shelton, Beulah Lindsay and Della Roach.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Maryville; two sons, Dale V. Owens of Maryville, and Gary L. Owens, Blue Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Norma Louise Sherry of Platte City, Mo., and Carol Jean Ray of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Louise Stuart of Barnard; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

Formal visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Barnett officiating.

Burial will be in Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard.

Memorials may be made to Maryville Health Care Center, Maryville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Orbin Owens

Services for Orbin Owens, 96, Maryville, were held Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with the Rev. Donald Barnett officiating.

Mr. Owens died March 15,1998, in Maryville.

Pallbearers were Ryan Ray, Chad Platt, Scott Owens, Devin Sherry, Darrin Sherry, Dennis Sherry, Derrick Sherry and Douglas Owens.

Flower girls were Kim Stiens, Denise Hill, Staci Fattig, Shelly Owens, Jennifer Abel, Cindy Byergo, Dawn Jochim, Cindy Kenkel and Mary Jane Hayes.

Carol Mincy was the organist and Fran Gabrielson was the vocalist.

Burial was in Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard.

Services were under the direction of Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
