[JEFFERS, RAY]                   [JEFFERS, ROY]      [JEFFERS, ROLLA]
Clarinda Herald (Clarinda, Iowa), Tuesday, April 15, 1902, p. 7
The Hopkins Triplets
Not only the parents, but all of Hopkins is proud of the three baby boys born on last Friday to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jeffers, of this city, and are now a week old; they are still the principal subject of conversation. The largest of the babes at birth weighed 5 pounds and the other two 3 and 3 ½ pounds respectively, and while a cigar box is nearly large enough to hold either of the three, they are all lively as crickets and as plump as partridges. The attending physician, Dr. King, says it is the first case he ever heard or read of where three of the same sex were born at the same time, so this will give Hopkins additional fame. The proud parents of these triplets are young people who have only been married 11 years, yet they now have eight children, seven of whom are boys. The father is a democrat and if Missouri is to ever go republican he must be coaxed to leave the state. Great is Missouri and great are the triplets—three cheers and a tiger for them. Let the good work continue and it will soon be unnecessary to pad our census report in order to have a population of one thousand.  –Hopkins Journal. Mr. Jeffers formerly lived near Siam and is a nephew of John Behm of this city.

[JEFFERS, RAY]                  [JEFFERS, ROY]      [JEFFERS, ROLLA]
Page County Democrat (Clarinda, Iowa), Thursday, April 17, 1902, p. 8
The Hopkins Journal announces the birth of three baby boys to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jeffers of that place, last Friday. The youngsters weigh from three up to five pounds each and are as lively as crickets. The fact of triplets being born is a novelty but three of the same sex is said to be more strange. This prolific addition to the family now gives the young parents of eleven years married life a family of eight children, seven of whom are boys. Special interest attaches to this event from the fact that Mr. Jeffers is a nephew of John Beam of this city and all are democrats.

[JEFFERS, ROY]
Hopkins Journal (Hopkins, Missouri), Thursday, November 13, 1902
Called From Us
One of the Jeffers Triplets Claimed by Him Who Gives and Taketh Away
All Hopkins was proud of the triplets born to Mr and Mrs Edward Jeffers, some eight months ago and now the community is equally sad over the death of Roy, the smallest of the three boys.
The little fellow was taken sick last week with brain fever and in spite of all that could be done by tender, loving hands and the best medical skill the precious little human mite died last Monday evening.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev Jones in the Presbyterian church on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock after which interment took place in the Hopkins cemetery.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of all.
