TUCSON, Ariz. — Thomas W. Parks, 86, Tucson, was born in St. Joseph and died Feb. 11, 2005.

Tom served in the Navy during WWII and worked for TWA for 35 years.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Willa; daughters, Jo (Paul), Susan (Marcel). Tina (Kevin), Jill (Tim) and Robin (Richard); and seven grandchildren, Nicole, Thomas, Christopher, Jeremy, Jason, Kyle and Michael.

Service: 2 p.m. today, Northwest Community Church, Tucson.

 

Parshall,  Leora, age 86, of Burlington Junction, Missouri, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2005, at the United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction, Mo., with Rev. Kevin Marston officiating. Visitation with the family was 7-8 Sunday at Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel.

Burial was in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, Mo.

Anna Leora Dawson Parshall was born January 31, 1919, rural Nodaway County, Missouri to Floyd Nelson Dawson and Bessie Allene (Wood) Dawson. She was a 1937 graduate of Skidmore High School. December 29, 1940, she was united in marriage at Maryville, Missouri, to Everett "Arnold" Parshall. They farmed in the Burlington Junction area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction.

Survivors include her husband Arnold of the home; son, Eugene Parshall and wife Kathy of Weatherford, Oklahoma; daughters Carolyn Griffin and husband JR of Orrick, Missouri, Janice Sheridan of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Cheryl Castillo of Clarinda, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Charlene Green of Costa Mesa, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Elmer, Dawson and sister, Geneva McCollam.

 

Partidge, Ronald G. - Maryville - Ronald G. Partridge, 69, of Maryville, passed from this life on Friday, April 20, 2007 at his home.

Born on July 22, 1937 in Maryville, Missouri he was the son of the late Arthur Francis Partridge & Anna Marie (Everhart) Bartholomew.

He was of the Protestant Faith.

He worked in construction most of his life.

He was a Member and Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Maryville.

He lettered in three sports during his high school and college years.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Ann (Alloway) Partridge, whom he married on May 8, 1979 in Troy, KS, loving sons, Ronald Adam Partridge and Donald Wade Partridge both of Maryville and one grandson, Tyler Partridge. He is survived by aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO 64468. Final Resting Place will be in the Miriam Cemetery.

Conduct Rites For Mrs L. Patterson

Tulare, Jan 17 -- The Rev Harvey Sander officiated at services Thursday for Mrs Louisa Patterson who died Jan 10 [1950] and burial was in Altoona Cemetery, Hitchcock.

Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased, Lee Peterson, Albert Riel, Lawrence, Laird, Wayne and William Swaney.

Louisa Anderson was born near Seymour, Ind., May 13, 1861, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Smith Anderson. She moved from Indiana to Missouri with her parents where she spent her girlhood. She married George W. Guise in 1881. Six daughters and one son were born to this union and one daughter died in infancy. In 1898 Mr Guise died. Following this she kept the home together until she married Marion Patterson in 1901. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union. The two sons died in infancy. In 1906 the family came to South Dakota and settled in Beadle County near Bonilla, later moving to a farm near Tulare. Since that time South Dakota has been her home except for two years spent in Montana. Mr Patterson died in 1918 and since then she has made her home with her daughters.

Surviving are six daguthers: Mrs R.P. Swaney and Mrs Nellie Beatty, Huron; Mrs Stella Dahlen, Hitchcock; Mrs Myrtle Peterson, Redfield; Mrs Emma Price, Tulare; Mrs Virgil Beals, Earlham, Ia; one stepdaughter, Mrs Iva Herring, Council Bluffs, Ia, and one daughter-in-law, Mrs Lauretta Guise, Doland; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and ?? greatgreat grandchildren.

 

Patterson, Vada Marie, 91, Savannah, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at Carriage Square Health Care Center, St. Joseph.
A celebration of life was held Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Breit-Hawkins and Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah. Interment was in Savannah Cemetery.

Patterson, Wilma M.

1911-2005

SAVANNAH, Mo. — Wilma M. Patterson, 93, of Savannah, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, in Savannah.

Mrs. Patterson was born on April 4, 1911, in Andrew County, Mo., where she lived most of her life.

Wilma was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State Teacher’s College and had taught in Hannibal, Mo., for 10 years before returning to Andrew County, where she taught in rural schools for 15 years. She later assisted in the operation of the family farm.

She was a Christian, and member of the Andrew County Extension Club and Social Club, where she had been president.

On Jan. 1, 1949, she married Loren Patterson in Savannah. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Her parents, John and Della (Gillispie) Merritt preceded her in death.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peden, William A. Sr.

1921-2005

William A. Peden, Sr., 83, St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at a local health-care facility following a short illness.

Born June 1, 1921, in Adamson, Okla., to Sarah Edith Oneth and William D. Simonton, and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Claude and Ethel Peden. He lived in St. Joseph, for most of his life. In 1939, he graduated from Doniphan High School.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army Infantry, where he earned numerous military decorations and citations, including two Purple Hearts, and two service bronze stars.

On Feb. 26, 1947, he married Rena Page, they later divorced. On Oct. 20, 1972, he married Hazel J. (George) Roberts, who preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2002.

Mr. Peden was at Walnut Products for 25 years, until he retired.

He was a life member of the Cpl. Fred Seiffert Post No. 1668, VFW.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard A. Peden.

Survivors: two sons, William A. Peden Jr., and his wife Glenda, Topeka, Kan., Raymond L. Peden, St. Joseph, Mo.; two step-sons, Thomas Roberts Jr., St. Joseph, Mo., Rick Roberts, Elwood, Kan.; a daughter, Vicki Schaefer, St. Mary’s, Kan.; four step-daughters, Vicky Tucker, Kansas City, Mo., Jan Ellis, Grand Rapids, Mich., Mickey Poelma, Belort, Kan., Clare Betts, Savannah, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after Noon Tuesday. Military services at the grave under the auspices of Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Lung Association.

Pfeifer, Betty J. Pfeifer, age 78, of David City, died Sunday, March 13 at David Place in David City. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. at Roberts-Chermok Funeral Home, David City and Wednesday, 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment was at David City Cemetery.
Betty was born July 27, 1926 at Graham, MO to Harvey and Marie (Laub) Drennen. She graduated from Coin High School in Coin, Iowa. She was married to Robert Jackson in 1944; they later divorced and then she married Dr. Orlen Pfeifer, DVM in August of 1959. She lived in the Clarinda, Iowa area until moving to Manhattan, KS in 1960. They then moved to David City in the summer of 1961.
She was a long time manager of the American Legion Club in David City; former owner and operator of Shop E-Z; assisted her husband in the veterinarian business. She was a member of the church; American Legion Auxiliary of David City; past member of the David City Chamber of Commerce and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling; loved being around people, especially her grandchildren and cooking.
Survivors are her step-son Randy (Deb) Pfeifer of Florence, AZ; daughter Judy (Dick) Taylor of Juniata, NE; brothers Bob Drennen of Lenox, IA; Charles (Joyce) Drennen of Yorktown, IA; Sam (Marilyn) Drennen of Council Bluffs, IA; Sister Helen (Paul) Ward of Maryville, MO. Two grandchildren Brian (Dawn) Taylor of Hastings, NE; Chris (Nikki) Taylor of Lincoln; two great-grandsons; two step-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one brother Donald Drennen, one half-brother Roy Drennen.

He was born Sept 11, 1902, to Bert and Anna Hoff Phillips, St Charles, Iowa.

He operated Reliable Rendering Co in Quitman before retiring.

He is survived by two brothers, J.D. Phillips and Duane Phillips, Omaha, Neb; a sister, Marti Wols, Omaha, Neb; and several nieces and nephews.

Pippin, Robert G. - While in a cab in Kansas City, Friday, April 11, 1919, Robert G. Pippin was killed in a street car accident. He was the stepfather of Knox Alexander of Burlington Junction, Mo., formerly of near Braddyville [Iowa]. The cab Mr Pippin was in was caught between two street cars. She married Virgil P. Pollock March 9, 1927, at Rock Port, Missouri and he preceded her in death. Clara worked as a receptionist for Dr. Byland and Dr. Wempe in Maryville for 25 years before her retirement.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Brown, Maryville, Missouri and two cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday afternoon, November 9, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at the Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel, Burlington Junction, Missouri. Burial of the cremain will be at the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, Missouri.

Powell, Emma Freeman - Emma Powell, 92, Ravenwood [Missouri], died Friday, March 27, 1998, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Born Jan 26, 1906, to Thomas Grant and Lorena Idaville Gooden Freeman, she was a homemaker and had taught school in the Hopkins and Bedison, Mo., area schools.

She married Loyd E. Powell, July 2, 1927, in Maryville.

A lifetime resident of the area, Mrs Powell was a 1923 graduate of Stanberry, Mo High School and attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Maryville; and the Literary Progressive Club of Ravenwood.

She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Eslie Freeman and three infants; and three sisters, Fern Bosley, Gladys Raine and Edis Horton.

Survivors include two sons, Loyd E. Powell Jr., Ithaca, NY and Kenny Powell of Bedford, Iowa; two daughters, Cleola Brandt of Ravenwood, and Shirley Vulgamott of St Joseph; a brother, Howard Freeman of Bedford, Iowa; and eight grandsons.

Visitation is currently under way at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, March 31, at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, with Elder Paul Coffman and Elder Roger Rowlett officiating.

Burial will be in Sweet Home Cemetery, Ravenwood.

Memorials may be made to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
