Jason was born in Omaha, NE on November 14, 1974 to Gerald E. & Mary J. (Brandl) Ternus. He graduated from Seward High School (Seward, NE) in 1993, and earned a Bachelor of Science from NWMSU in Wildlife, Ecology & Conservation in 1998.

He worked as a Night Stockman at Wal-Mart for the past two years, and was employed with Nodaway County Services for 11 years prior.

Jason married Dana J. (Schulz) on June 28, 1998 in Seward, NE.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. He was an adult leader on numerous Youth Mission Trips with the First United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman & photographer, and also enjoyed conducting "Cooking Experiments".

He is survived by his wife Dana Ternus; daughters Payton & Jillian, and son Quentin; his parents; a sister Robyn & Sam Pane, Omaha, NE; a paternal grandmother Lillian Fischer Ternus, Columbus, NE; sisters-in-law Jacquelyn Leising, CA; Rachael & Derek Albrecht, CA; Laura Schulz & husband Justin Van Derslice, Seward, NE, 8 nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. There will be an afternoon visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service, at the First United Methodist Church.

A Good Man Is Gone. Edwin Chaves “Ted” Tyson, 60, a lifelong non-smoker, died of lung cancer on December 28, 2008 at Heartland Hospital, St Joseph, Missouri.

He was born July 14, 1948 in Maryville, the son of Turner W. and Betty Chaves Tyson. He married Jeanne Marie Clothier on October 22, 1976 in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his step-fathers: H. L. “Red” Wilson and Clarence Barnes.

Survivors include the two joys of his life, his wife: Jeanne Marie Tyson, of their home in Maryville and daughter: Samantha Marie Tyson, Charlotte, North Carolina; his mother: Betty Chaves Wilson-Barnes, Maryville; a brother: Turner Tyson and his wife: Linda, Jefferson City, Missouri; a sister: Barbara Finn, Pensacola, Florida; two nephews: Bobby and Will Finn and three nieces: Becky Finn, Leslie Tyson and Laura Tyson.

Robert Elmo Trimble, 87, Maryville, Missouri died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

He was born December 16, 1920 in Columbia, Missouri, the son of O. G. and Anna Florence (Long) Trimble. A graduate of Maryville High School, Elmo married Vera Louise Coffelt on May 10, 1941.

He owned and operated Trimble Oil Company, serving Maryville and the surrounding community for many years.

Mr. Trimble was one of the original organizers, and, member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, here in Maryville, where he had served in many positions including that of Deacon. He had served on the Maryville City Council and the Planning and Zoning Board.

Elmo was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother: Esper Griffith Trimble and a brother: Gene Trimble.

Survivors include his wife, Vera, of their home; children and their spouses: Shirly and Tom Stovall, Mesquite, Texas; Duane and Joetta Trimble, Loveland Colorado; Rosemary and Ciecel Ledgerwood, Graham, Missouri; Coleen D. Vera Louise Coffelt Trimble 87, of Maryville, Missouri died Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Garden Terrace Care Center, Overland Park, Kansas.

She was born January 17, 1923 in Ravenwood, Missouri, the daughter of Eldon and Minnie (Messner) Coffelt. Vera graduated from Ravenwood High School and she married Robert “Elmo” Trimble May 10, 1941 in Hiawatha, Kansas.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School many years. Vera wrote poetry.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Elmo Trimble on October 14, 2008; her parents and brothers: Wesley, Forrest and Wayne Coffelt.

Eilene Mary Tobin, 75, Maryville, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Village Care Center in Maryville.

She was born February 29, 1932, in Easton, Missouri the daughter of Dennis and Pearl (Sayles) O'Connor. She graduated from Gower High School, Gower, Missouri in 1950 and Gard Business College in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Eilene married Philip Edward Tobin on September 3, 1956, in St. Joseph, Missouri.

For over 25 years Eilene was a Bookkeeper for Easters Family Center in Maryville. She was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, St. Gregory's Guild and the Legion Of Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Philip Tobin, Maryville, children and their spouses: Chris and Lisa Tobin, Lenexa, Kansas, Dee and Dan Henry, Louisville, Nebraska, Leesa and Kevin Clausen, Havelock, Iowa, Terri and Chris Ryan, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Patrick and Brenda Tobin, Jackson, Mississippi, 10 grandchildren; sisters: her twin Jolene Robertson, Dee Morin and Carol Thomas all of Saint Joseph, Missouri, and Denise Otoupal, Amherstburg, Ontario Canada; many nieces and nephews.

Benjamin Franklin Tompkins Jr, 90, Barnard Missouri, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Parkdale Manor Healthcare, Maryville, Missouri.

He was born April 16, 1918, in Barnard, Missouri, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Etta Belle (Bare) Tompkins Sr. Mr. Tompkins was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Glen Tompkins, Bill Tompkins, John Tompkins, Orville Tompkins, Everet Tompkins, Raymond Tompkins, Thelma Dougan, Lula Dougan, and Maxine Sexson.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Tompkins and sister-in-law: May Joan Neely, both of Maryville; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Doyle, who was awarded Caregiver of the Year for his devotion to Phyllis while she was in the nursing home. Alma Leora Thompson, age 93, Hopkins, Missouri, departed this life Friday, December 5, 2008, at Golden Living Care Center in Maryville, Missouri.

Born August 9, 1915, at Haigler, Nebraska, she was the daughter of James Guyman Wiley and Viola Elizabeth Downing Wiley.

April 4, 1936, at Clarinda, Iowa, she married Harry Ronald Thompson of Hopkins, Missouri. To this union two sons were born: Lowell Dean Thompson and Carl Richard Thompson. She was a homemaker, wife and mother and resided on a farm southeast of Hopkins for 72 years, all her wedded life.

Alma was a "Past Worthy Matron of The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #533 of Pickering, Missouri," a member for many years of Pickering Christian Church, a charter member of the "Artists Palette Pals Club" for 37 years, of which she was actively involved.

Preceding her in death was her son Carl Thompson, her parents, sister, Leona Looper and great-grandson Logan Thornton.

Survivors are her husband Harry Thompson of Hopkins, son Dean Thompson, Indianola, Iowa, sister Edna Maxwell, Modesto, California, ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and relatives.

Donald Gene Thompson, 71 of Maryville, Missouri died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at St Francis Hospital in Maryville.

Born June 9, 1937 in Skidmore, Missouri, he was the son of the late Donald and Vera Sollars Thompson. He married Janie K. Leach April 26, 1968 in Maryville.

He retired as a supervisor after forty years by the Laclede Chain Corporation, Maryville.

He served as a Sergeant in the Army from 1962 until 1965.

Surviving are his wife Janie of the home, son Donald Eugene (Katina)Thompson, Jr., daughter, Donna Jeanne (Tim) Roush, Bolckow, MO, sister, Bonnie Ruiz, Maryville, 3 grandchildren Christopher, Colin, and Cambrian Roush, and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline (John) Thompson, 101, died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville.

She was born July 10, 1908 in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of Charlie and Nancy (Patch) John. A graduate of Bedford High School, Pauline married Cecil Clifford Thompson February 4, 1934 in Jefferson, Iowa.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Church of Christ, Maryville, Missouri.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil on October 2, 1961; three brothers: Harley, George and Russell John; a sister: Bernice Thompson and brother-in-law: Phillip Thompson.

Survivors include three brothers: Raymond and his wife: Mary Lou John, Joliet, Illinois; Glen John, Richmond, Virginia and Rex and his wife: Kay John, Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister: Loah and her husband: Gary Hawhee, Bedford, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Lenora John, Maryville and Winifred John, Tarkio, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

He was born June 15, 1934, in Hopkins, Missouri to Roy and Leta (Florea) Thompson. He was a 1952 graduate of Hopkins High School.

R.D. married Helen Joy Wilson on June 6, 1954, in Hopkins. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2007.

A retired farmer, he was a member of the Hopkins Christian Church and the Pickering Lion's Club.

Moretta was born May 3, 1920, in Maryville, Missouri to Ray D. and Jessie (Walker) Hackett.

A 1939 graduate of Horace Mann High School, she married Samuel Wilson Throckmorton on March 6, 1949, in Barnard,Missouri.

Moretta was a cook at Grays Truck Stop, a member of Wilcox United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Ireland Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Samuel (March 24, 1983) , a daughter Linda Diane Throckmorton, and brothers Raymond and Lloyd Hackett.

Taylor, Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Schulte - Betty Ann (Elizabeth)Taylor, died Saturday, December 22, 2007 at her home in Maryville, Missouri.

Betty Ann Schulte was born on April 15, 1921 in Maryville, Missouri to Clara Sophia Stiens and Roy John Schulte. Betty graduated from College High with the Class of 1938. She attended Northwest Missouri State and taught in rural schools of Nodaway County.

Betty was joined in marriage to Charles William Taylor on May 15, 1946 in Maryville, Missouri. Children born to this union are David, Carol Ann, James, Wayne and William.

Betty was a homemaker and belonged to St. Gregory's Catholic Church of Maryville, Missouri and the Catholic Guild.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one infant daughter, Barbara.

Taylor, John B. "J.B" Col - Col. John Butler (J.B.) Taylor 89, Maryville, Missouri died Wednesday, March 31, 2010.

Col. Taylor was born December 14, 1920 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Ray Henry and Katie (Calvert) Taylor.

A graduate of Maryville R-II High School, he served his country during World War II in France and Germany, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars and one Silver Star, along with the Purple Heart. He was a business owner of Ideal Cleaners for 40 years and was a retired Colonel of the Missouri National Guard.

J.B. was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Elks Club for 60 years, James Edward Gray Anerican Legion Post #100 for 65 years, Maryville Country Club, Chamber of Commerce and a former member and President of the Maryville School Board.

He married Kathleen Elizabeth Farnan Taylor October 4, 1947 in Conception Junction, Missouri; Bettie J. Vanice September 22, 1977 and Kathryn V. Pfeifer, April 25, 1987. They all preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; son: Douglas F. Taylor; and grandson, Matthew J. Taylor.
