Damewood, Ronald Lee "Bud" - Ronald Lee “Bud” Damewood was born in the New Market, Iowa area on May 16, 1930 the son of Glen Vernon and Candace Iowa (Lathrop) Damewood. He grew up in the Shambaugh area and graduated from Davis School. Bud was married to his wife Maureen (Krenek), for over fifty-three years, on August 31, 1952 at Clearmont, Missouri. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burlington Junction, Missouri. Bud had a sawmill at home and enjoyed his woodworking business. He also farmed, did road work for Nodaway Township and especially enjoyed running the sawmill at Elliott, Iowa at the Eschelmans Steam Engine Show. He enjoyed sharing his skills in woodworking with his family and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Surviving Bud are his three children; Cynthia and husband Mike Hanig of Burlington Junction, Missouri, Roy Damewood of Burlington Junction, Missouri, and Rodney and wife Susan Damewood of Burlington Junction, Missouri; eleven grandchildren: nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn and husband Duane Cerven of Blanchard, Iowa and Eula and husband Phillip Bennett of Clarinda, Iowa: one brother Darwin Damewood of Larned, Kansas; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Maureen, brothers Darrell Damewood and wife Doris, Eldon Damewood, and infant brother, Carroll Faye Damewood, grandson Mathew Kane Reasoner.
Funeral Services for Ronald Lee “Bud” Damewood age 78, of Skidmore, Missouri were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 23, 2009 at United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction, Missouri. Danner, Jay Scott -

Jay Scott Danner, 43, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, formerly of Maryville, Missouri died, Saturday, September 20, 2008 at St Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was born October 25, 1964 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of James Monroe Danner Jr. and Bonnie June (Estes) Danner. Scott was a 1984 graduate of Maryville High School. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1988 with a BS degree in Business Administration. He served in the Missouri Air National Guard and was a veteran of Desert Storm.

He was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville and Sigma Phi Episilon. Scott worked for Philip Morris USA for 19 years and currently he was a Unit Manager.

He married Angela Janell Doyen on April 3, 1993 in Concordia, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Danner Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Angie, of their home; his mother: Bonnie Danner, Maryville; brothers: James Danner, and Joe Danner, Maryville; Jon Danner, St Charles, Missouri; sisters: Beverly Noellsch, Skidmore, Missouri; Jane Morriss, Maryville, Joyce Pride, Ravenwood, Missouri, many nieces, nephews other relatives, friends and his dog, Birdie.

Darby, Nadine Robinson -

Nadine Darby, 72, Pickering, Missouri, formerly of Crocker, Missouri, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at her daughter's home in Hopkins, Missouri.

Nadine was born July 17, 1936, in Richland, Missouri to Chester and Callie (Powers) Robinson. She was one of eleven children. She was a graduate of Richland, Missouri High School.

She married Glen E. Darby on July 30, 1954, in Maitland Missouri.

Nadine was a production worker with the Union Carbide Corporation in Maryville for 15 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Jack McGowan and brother, Sonny McGowan.

She is survived by her husband, Glen of the home in Pickering, son Glen Darby Jr. and Patty Patton, Richland, Missouri, two daughters: Kathy McKee and husband Robert, and Leisa Judd and husband Brad, all of Hopkins, eight grandchildren: Salena Zarybnicky, Alycia Fritzen, Julie McKee, Brandon Darby, Samantha Wright, Blake Darby, Brittney Baker and Douglas McKee and two great-grandchildren: Bobby Haidsiak and Ruthie Fritzen.

A visitation will be from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28th at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
Graveside services and burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008, Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, Missouri .

Daugherty, Mary "Clarita" Conley -

Mary Clarita Daugherty, 90, Kansas City, Missouri, left to be with her Lord, Monday, August 24, 2009.

She was born April 23, 1919 in Maryville, Missouri the daughter of Clare and Florence (Vaughn) Conley and graduated from Maryville High School in 1937.

Clarita married Samuel Buford Daugherty, who preceded her in death, as did her parents.

She was a long time member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community in Maryville.

Survivors include her children: Sharon (Joe) Rice, Linda Blakemore and Sam (Vicki) Daugherty; seven grandchildren: Diane, Steve, Stacy, Jennifer, Neil, Stephanie and Emily; also a cousin, Louise Miller, with whom she was very close.

Visitation is 6-7pm, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 with a 7 pm Rosary at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11 am Thursday, August 27, 2009 at St Gregory's Church, Maryville. Burial will be in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville, Missouri.

 

David, Opal Marie Messner - Opal Marie Messner David passed away May 29, 2009 at twelve o’clock noon, just eight days shy of her 103rd birthday. Ms. David’s loved ones were with her at the time of her passing.

Born to Joseph and Bertha Messner of Parnell, Missouri, in 1906, she married Lester David in April, 1926 and together they raised eleven children of which eight are still living.

In 1937, Lester and Opal moved from Missouri to California, where they continued to farm, raising corn, apricots, chickens and milk cows.

In 1968, they moved back to Missouri and made their home in Ravenwood. Lester David passed away there, in their home, in 1972.

In 1978, Ms. David returned to California to be close to her children.

Ms. David was a strong woman who overcame much adversity through her long and healthy life. She remained true to her family and never wavered from her love for each of her children.

Ms. David began quilting at the young age of thirteen and continued until her health declined at 101 years of age. She leaves behind hundreds of beautiful quilts that will be valued for many years to come. Opal’s first quilt remains as beautiful and as colorful as the day she finished it.

Ms. David leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren to continue the Messner/David legacy.

Rest in peace, sweet Mother, we love you dearly.

Ms. David was inurned in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood, Missouri beside her husband, Lester.

 

Davie, Nettie Larue Shores -

Nettie Larue (Shores) Davie, 87, Springfield, Illinois, died Friday, November 28, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital.

Mrs. Davie was born on July 26, 1921 in Clearmont, Missouri, daughter of Edmond. and Blanche (Shanklin) Shores. During the early years, her family moved numerous times, as her father worked for the railroad, then became part owner of a garage, and eventually worked on a drag line for Bilby Ranch in Quitman. As a young woman, Nettie worked at the Quitman Post Office before moving to California during World War II.

In 1943, while in California, she married Lt. Vance Calvin, a bombardier on a B-17. Lt. Calvin died during a bombing raid to Berlin, Germany in January 1944, they only having a short time together before his death. In 1945, she married Francis (Frank) Davie in North Carolina.

They moved to Dunlap, Iowa following his discharge from the Marine Corps where they farmed for approximately 12 years. In 1957, after giving up farming, they moved to California where Nettie was a housewife. Mr. and Mrs. Davie had seven children during their married life.

In 1985, after Frank retired, they moved to Show Low, Arizona. In 1993, they moved to Maryville, Missouri, living there until 2005 when they moved to Illinois to live with their son Larry Davie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Vance; her husband, Francis M. Davie (four days prior to her passing); two infant children, Sharon and Paul Davie; sisters Ruth McIntosh, Eva Jean Kruse, and Betty McGinness; and brothers, Joe and Edwin Shores.

Nettie is survived by her sister Mary Brown of Maryville, Missouri; daughters Frances Eggenberger of Mesquite, Nevada, and Linda Quattlebaum of Sun City, California; three sons, Roy Davie of California City, California, Mark Davie of Sacramento, California, Larry Davie of Springfield, Illinois; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Graveside services are Sunday, December 7, 2008, at 12:00 p.m. in Quitman Cemetery, Quitman, Missouri.

Davis, Darrel V. -

Darrel V. Davis, 72, Graham, Missouri, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri .

He was born July 7, 1935, at Bolckow, Missouri. The son of the late Aaron William and Vivian (Burgess) Davis.

A 1953 graduate of the Maitland High School, Darrell enjoyed farming and being actively involved in community projects, serving on the Graham Park and Graham Housing Corporation Boards. He had also been a member of the Graham Lions Club. He had worked as a printer for Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, The Maryville Daily Forum and New England Business Systems from which he had retired.

He was united in marriage to Jean Graham, November 16, 1955 in Graham, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman and Kenneth Davis.

Survivors include: his wife E. Jean Davis of the home, Graham, MO; 2 sons, David Davis, Conception and John Davis and wife Janny, Republic; one daughter in law, Beth Davis, Maryville, one sister, Elaine Strohm, Kansas City; one brother, Charles Davis, Raytown; one sister in law, Louise Davis, Olathe, KS; and one aunt, Flow Goodson, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Omaha, NE, and Joe, Jill and Jacob Davis, Republic, Missouri.

Lottie Rosanna Davis, 79, Conception Junction, Missouri died Tuesday, February 12, 2008
at her home.

She was born January 18, 1929 in Maryville, Missouri the daughter of John Burton and Lottie
P (Wilson) Davis.

Mrs. Davis attended Maryville High School and was a factory worker most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her son: Herbert Leroy Emery; her parents; sisters: Lela Peters
and Mary Brenner and Brothers: Sam, Robert, Leland and Vernon Davis.

Survivors include a daughter: Mary Stiens, Maryville; a son: Wilbur, Conception Junction; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister: Marie Hill, Topeka, Kansas and nieces and nephews.

Davis, Mary Catherine Armentrout - Mary Catherine Davis, 89, of Graham, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Heartland Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 13, 1918 at Maitland, Missouri the daughter of Arthur Lee and Laura Dovell Armentrout. She attended and graduated from New Point, Missouri Schools. She was a rural school teacher in Holt County.

She was united in marriage on April 30, 1939 at Ravenwood Methodist Church to the late Earl Andrew Davis whom passed on September 26, 2006. To this union four children were born. She was a member of the Graham United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She served the church and the UMW in many offices. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 402, Skidmore, of which she served in many offices including Worthy Matron. She was a member of the Graham Progressive Club, the Jolly Mixers Club and the Graham Community Betterment and was a leader in the 4-H club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, a son-in-law Charles Douglas Johnson, two brother-in-laws Leonard Cassell and Albert Zapf, and a sister-in-law Leta Zapf.

Left to survive her passing includes her two daughters, Rosalea Johnson, Graham, & Geneva Lou Tubbs and husband, Donald of Bigelow, MO, her twin sons, Dr. Larry Andrew Davis and wife Cindy, Granite City, IL, & Dr. Gary Authur Davis and wife, Sherri of Omaha, NE, two sisters, Dorothy Dallmann of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Georgia Cassell, St. Joseph, twelve grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. Main Street, Maryville, Missouri 64468, with the Rev. Connie Ury, Officiating. Final Resting Place will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. Virginia Mae Davis, 66, Indianola, Iowa, passed from this life on Monday, December 1, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri.

Virginia was born on October 9, 1942, in Maryville, Missouri, daughter of Robert Sr and Stella (Brant) Davis.

She was preceded in death by a son: Roger Dale Emery; her parents; brothers: Delbert and Leonard Davis and sister: Shirley Davis.

Virginia is survived by her sisters: Margaret Giggar, Worth, Missouri; Christiana Guturrez, Shenandoah, Iowa, Dorothy Davis and Diana Davis, both of Pickering and brother: Robert E. Davis, Hopkins, Missouri; six nieces: Tina, Tammy, Taresa, Terre, Barbara and Rebecka; four nephews: Robert, Timothy, Travis and Donald and several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, at Miriam Cemetery,
Maryville, Missouri.

Dawson, Curtis Darek - Curtis Darek Dawson, 18, of Wessington, SD, formerly of Burlington Junction, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident.
Born October 3, 1989 in Maryville, MO, he is the beloved son of Terry (Jessica) Dawson and Judy (Danie) Strough. Curtis attended West Nodaway Elementary School at Burlington Junction. In 2002 he moved with his family to South Dakota. He attended Junior and Senior High at Miller High School where he was currently a senior.
He was active in FFA and Ag Power. His many interest included hunting, fishing, golfing, boating and rebuilding cars. He was currently working on a 1986 Chevy pickup. Curtis’ favorite leisure activity buddies were his family. Curtis leaves behind many friends who will miss his laughter and endless energy for adventure.
He was currently employed at the David Fremark Ranch.
Curtis is survived by his parents, Terry (Jessica) Dawson of Burlington Junction, MO, Judy (Danie) Strough of Wessington, SD; four brothers, Corey (Kellee) Dawson of Burlington Junction, Chad Dawson of Miller, Dustin Hunt of Wessington, Connor Dawson of Burlington Junction; six sisters, Lenai Hunt of Wessington, Destiny Dawson of Burlington Junction, Morgan Bailey of Burlington Junction, Karrie, Codie and Rickie Strough all of Elmo, MO; Grandparents, Harriett Howard, Helen Runnels and David and Belva Dawson; a special nephew Hunter Dawson of Burlington Junction; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Curtis was looking forward to being an uncle again in May.
He was preceded in death by one sister Kiona Dawson and grandparents Harley Jr. Howard and Rick Strough. Curtis was loved by his family and many many friends. He had a warm and loving heart and was a friend to al he met. Curtis will be missed.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. at the Burlington United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction, MO, on Thursday, April 10, 2008 with Rev. Rusty Husted officiating. Day, Evelyn "Berdena" -

Evelyn Berdena Day, age 90, formerly of Quitman and Skidmore, Missouri, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, MO.

Berdena was born July 9, 1919 in Riverton, Nebraska; the daughter of the late William Francis and Edna Ola Willis Day.

She had been a farmer all her life and resident of Skidmore since 1980. She was a graduate of Quitman High School, class of 1938; and also a member of the Riverton Nebraska Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Elmer , Rollie G. and Henry A. Day; three sisters, Louie Elizabeth Irwin, Mamie Alverta Sherrill and an infant Mildred Day.

Berdena is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Devine, Steven Dean -

Steven Dean Devine, age 54, of Burlington Junction, Missouri, died Friday, August 1, 2008, at Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia, Missouri.

He was born February 15, 1954 in Saint Joseph, Missouri; the son of Elmer Eugene and Betty Jeanne (Hopple) Devine.

He was a graduate of West Nodaway High School Class of 1972, Burlington Junction, Missouri, and a member of the United Methodist Church, Clearmont.

Steve worked various jobs through out the years. He painted and roofed many houses and barns in the surrounding communities. Most recently Steve had worked as a farm hand for Koger Farms, a job that he truly enjoyed. He also was a quite talented artist with his drawings.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Rae Devine in 1968.

He is also survived by his parents, Elmer and Betty, Clearmont, MO; one sister, Cathy Eisfelder (Michael), Peoria, Illinois; two brothers, Tom Devine, Columbia, Missouri and David Devine, Clearmont, Missouri. Steven will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., at the Clearmont United Methodist Church, Clearmont, Missouri. Inurnment: Oak Hill Cemetery at Clearmont. A reception will be held in the basement of the church following the service to visit with the family.

Dew, Ashley Nichole -

Ashley Nichole Dew, age 6, of Pickering, an Angel, called home by the Lord, on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Born on December 6, 2000 in Kansas City, MO she was the daughter of  Garry Allan & Tina Ann Dew of Pickering.

She was a kindergarten student at the North Nodaway R-6 Elementary School, Pickering.
Ashley loved playing with her sister Emily and friends, purple was her favorite color and she loved pigs, especially "Piggy" and her cat "Sally".

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving twin sister Emily Rose Dew, of the home, paternal grandparents, Larry & Carolyn Dew, Pickering, maternal grandparents, Jay & Dyann Rozema, Hamiliton, Ohio, maternal great grandmother, Jean Gibbs, Cincinnati, OH, Uncles & Aunts, Troy Dew, Kansas City, MO, Scott & Angela Dew, Smithville, Darin & Holly Mills, Linden, Iowa, Stefany Prindle, Hamilton, Ohio, cousins, Alexis Prindle & Ava Mills.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, 211 S. Main Street, Maryville, MO.  Final Resting Place will be in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

DiMarco, L. Miriam Martin -

L Miriam (Martin) DiMarco, 91, Maryville, Missouri, passed away quietly after battling a long illness, Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City.

Miriam was born May 29, 1918 in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Albert Russell “A R” and Ida Elizabeth (Miller) Martin. She grew up in rural Maryville on the “Martin farm”. She graduated from Maryville High School, and attended Northwest Missouri State University. She later earned her Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois.

She volunteered as a Red Cross worker during World War II and spent several years abroad, where she met and married Charles Nicholas DiMarco,a paratrooper, on September 2, 1943 in Rome Italy.

After the war, she and her husband returned to the United States and Settled in New York. They later moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where Mrs. DiMarco worked as both a public and school librarian for many years.

In 1978 she and her husband retired to Maryville, where, after Charles’ death she went on to manage Lochridge Farm for many years, receiving awards for her work in soil conservation.

Miriam was an active member of P E O chapter L and the Maryville Garden Club. She attended Church services at the First Presbyterian Church of Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles, on December 20, 1981; her parents and a brother: Harold Martin.

Survivors include her daughters: Anne Elizabeth Laws, Omaha, Nebraska; Janet Lynn DiMarco, Denver, Colorado; son: Charles Joseph DiMarco, Kansas City; a sister: Carrie Margaret Lyle, Ravenwood, Missouri; a brother: Bill Martin, Maryville; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Donan, Catherine Elizabeth Lutgen - Catherine Elizabeth Donan, 91, Maryville Missouri, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

She was born July 5, 1917 in Conception Junction, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Lydia Jane (Donaldson) Lutgen. Catherine married Lawrence Luke in 1939 and Harold Donan in 1977 in Maitland, Missouri.

She was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community Maryville. Catherine had worked as a switch board operator in Bedison, Missouri, a nurse aid at the Old St Francis Hospital and Nodaway Meat Packing in Maryville for 23 years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Luke; her second husband, Harold Donan; her parents; siblings: Richard, Mamie and Margaret Lutgen, Agnes Turner and Jane Snyder.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Larry and Caren Luke, Muscatine, Iowa; Sharon and Bernard Riley, Ravenwood, Missouri; Agnes and Bill Meyer, Conception Junction, Missouri; Barbara and John Riley, Ravenwood, Missouri; step-children and their spouses: Bob and Nita Donan, St. Joseph, Missouri; Linda Donan, Japan; Deb and Mike Bohnsack, Perry, Iowa and Angie Bullock in California; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Dorrel, Clyde Irving - Clyde Irving Dorrel, 95, Maryville, Missouri died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, St Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Clyde was born December 17, 1912 in Monroe City, Missouri, the son of Cyrus I. and Rose Hollander Dorrel. A graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Maryville, he married Mary Margaret Jackson at St. Patrick's Catholic Church June 15, 1940. Clyde served his country in World War II.

A member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, Clyde retired as a manager of Sherlock's Drive In Liquor Store. He had worked at Uniroyal and as a Schlitz Beer Distributor. He and Mary Margaret co-owned and operated the Orrsburg Store, Orrsburg and the Puritan Cafe in Maryville.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Margaret, two brothers Frank and Ray Dorrel, and a sister Blanche Krupp Heinrichs.

Survivors include his children and their spouses: Larry and Veronica Dorrel, Joyce and Charles Ware, Jerry and Trudy Dorrel, Terry Dorrel, and Gene and Sue Dorrel, all of Maryville; Mary Rose and Bill Taube, St Joseph, Missouri; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Dorrel, Lawrence Joseph "Larry" - Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Dorrel, 66, Maryville, Missouri, died Friday, September 26, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.

He was born October 20, 1941, in Maryville to Clyde and Mary Margaret (Jackson) Dorrel. He was a 1959 graduate of Maryville High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University.

Larry married Veronica Merrigan on April 29, 1961, in Conception, Missouri.

For sixteen years Larry worked as a distributor for Schlitz Beer Company. He then served as feed mill manager for the Maryville Co-op for twenty years.

He was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and also the Elks Club, in Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

He is survived by his wife Veronica Dorrel of the home in Maryville; two daughters Carla Jean (Rick) Dovell, Kansas City, Missouri and Lori Ann (Harve) Johnson, Lenexa, Kansas; two sons Anthony Joseph (Laurie) Dorrel and Alan James (Shelly) Dorrel, all of Kansas City, Missouri, two sisters Joyce (Charles) Ware, Maryville and Mary Rose (Bill) Taube, St. Joseph, Missouri; three brothers-Terry Dorrel, Jerry (Trudy) Dorrel and Gene (Sue) Dorrel, all of Maryville; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorrel, Mary Margaret Jackson - Mary Margaret (Jackson) Dorrel 89, Maryville, Missouri died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville.

Mary Margaret was born July 30, 1918 in Maryville, the daughter of Roy and Mary Elizabeth (Grimes) Jackson. A graduate of St Patrick's High School, she married Clyde Dorrel at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Maryville on June 15, 1940.

She was a member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community and St Gregory's Guild.

Mary Margaret retired from Ingels Motor Company as bookkeeper and office manager. She had been co-owner /operator of the Puritan Café in Maryville and the Orrsburg Store, northeast of Maryville. She had been a bookkeeper for the Doctor's offices, St Gregory's Parish and School Lunch Program and St. Patrick's Cemetery and a Board Member for St Gregory's Endowment Fund.

She was preceded in death by a sister: Thelma Wilson and 2 brothers: Lloyd and Francis Jackson.

Survivors include her husband: Clyde, of their home; children and their spouses: Larry and Veronica Dorrel, Joyce and Charles Ware, Jerry and Trudy Dorrel, Terry Dorrel, Gene and Sue Dorrel, all of Maryville; Mary Rose and Bill Taube, St Joseph, Missouri; a sister: Mildred Frampton, Maryville; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren;

Dowden, Beula May Horn - Beula May Dowden, 85, Pickering, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri.

She was born September 4, 1922, in Clearmont, Missouri to Ola Glenn and Nora (Fenton) Horn. Beula was a 1941 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville.

She married Willard Howard Dowden on May 27, 1942, in Troy, Kansas.

Beula was a retired Postal Clerk and Postmaster, having served 27 years in the U.S. Postal Service and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pickering Methodist Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Nodaway County Republican Women and in the past Beula had served as the Union Township Republican Committee Woman.

She was preceded in death by husband: Willard on May 19, 2005, her parents, a grandson: Chad Aaron Cline and brothers: Ola Glenn Horn, Jr. and Bobby Horn.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Marcia and Jim Cline and Kathy and Ron Cross, all of Hopkins, Missouri, a son Willard Dowden, Jr., Pickering, five grandchildren: Jamey Cline, Barry Cline, Brad Cross, Gary Cross and Rhonda Beemer, two great-grandsons, Brandon and Ethan Cline, a brother and his wife: Edward and Faye Horn, Kansas City, Missouri, a sister Betty Nick, Whittier, California, a sister-in-law Marita Horn, Shenandoah, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 2nd at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville.
Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Miriam Cemetery Maryville.

Dowling, Barbara E. "Barb" Morelock - Barbara E. “Barb” Dowling 65, of Maryville, MO., passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the St. Francis Hospital, Maryville after a lengthy illness.

Born on January 11, 1944 in Clarinda, Iowa, Barb was a former resident of the Shenandoah, Iowa area. She had been a resident of the Maryville area since 1968. Her parents were Wayne and Maxine Morelock.

Barb had been employed in the sales department by the LMP Steel and Wire Company for many years, and retired six years ago. She was of the Protestant faith, and was preceded in death by her parents.

On February 19, 1977 she married Stephen G. Dowling in Clarinda, Iowa, he survives of the home in Maryville.

Other survivors include two daughters, Brenda M. Dowling and husband, Roger Young, of Colony, KS. and Bonnie D. and husband Randy Patterson, Graham, MO. A brother, Benny L. and wife Cheryl Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO., six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Barb has been cremated. Memorial Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Bram Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Connie Ury will be the officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. No visitation is planned. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the funeral home with the destination to be determined later.

Dragoo, Mary Jane Dewyre - Mary Jane Dragoo, 87, of Burlington Junction, MO passed from this life on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Community Hospital of Fairfax.

Born on March 18, 1921 in Burlington Junction, Missouri she was the daughter of the late Charles & Alta (Hamilton) Dewyre. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron E. Dragoo on August 9, 1964.

She was a retired employee of Northwest Missouri State University and a member of the First Christian Church of Burlington Junction, Burlington Junction American Legion Post 315 Auxiliary and the Golden Key Club.

She is survived by her devoted children, James Dragoo and wife Sheryl, Burlington Junction, John Dragoo, Burlington Junction and Betty J. Dragoo, of Burlington Junction, MO, a sister, Florence Adams, Norwalk, Iowa and four grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, George Dewyre and Charles Dewyre.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church of Burlington Junction on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 with the Rev. Matt Limback, Officiating. Final Resting Place will be in the Ohio Cemetery. There will be no evening visitation or viewing however the family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9 to 10 A.M. Maxine Lavaughn Dredge, 72, Maryville, Missouri died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St, Joseph, Missouri.

Lavaughn was born February 8, 1937 in Burlington Junction, Missouri the daughter of Eldon Glenn Griffey Sr and Frances Hainline Griffey Ford. A 1955 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville she married Hiram Richard Dredge, October 7, 1955 in Maryville.

Mrs. Dredge was a member of the Wilcox United Methodist Church and retired from Eveready of Maryville, where she worked in the production of AA Raw Cell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father: Marshall Ford; sisters: Frances Elaine Wilson and Barbara Joan Finney; granddaughter: Correne Welch; great-granddaughter: May Nichole Leffert and great-grandson: David Teague.

Richard was born August 14, 1936 in Maryville, Missouri the son of Harlan Richard and Zenola Ruth (Fleenor) Dredge. A 1954 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville he married Maxine Lavaughn Griffey, October 7, 1955 in Maryville.

Mr. Dredge was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge, Aerie #3669, Maryville. He retired from United Services of Maryville, as a Lineman.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Lavaughn on March 3, 2009; his parents; a sister: Marsha Jean Dredge; granddaughter: Correne Welch; great-granddaughter: May Nichole Leffert and great-grandson: David Teague.

Dunkin, Charlene Wiley -

Charlene Dunkin, 93, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Maryville, Missouri. She was born September 2, 1914 and was a longtime resident of Hopkins.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jack Dunkin, her parents L.R. and Goldie Wiley and sister Donabelle Orcutt. Surviving are her daughter Judy Blair, three grandchildren, Dayna Sharp, Darren Acampora and Joe Acampora and seven great grandchildren, all of California.

She attended Maryville State Teacher's College and on January 11, 1937, she married Jack. They moved to Burbank, CA, where Jack was employed as an engineer with Lockheed Aircraft and Charlene was an office worker, although home making was her main choice.

Lockheed sent the couple to Germany where they lived, worked and traveled for two years.

Many, many friendships were made, several countries were visited and both agreed that it had been a wonderful fulfilling experience. After returning home to California, they decided that their retirement would be spent in Hopkins, MO. In 1972, the move was completed.

Charlene frequently played the piano and organ for friends, family and the church congregation. She was also a member of P.E.O.

Her kindness, cheerfulness and smile will be missed by many.

There will be a private graveside service.

Dye, Claudette Pearl Brown -

Claudette Pearl Dye, 72, Elmo, Missouri died at her daughter's home Sunday, February 7, 2010.

She was born February 3, 1938 in Council Bluffs, Iowa; the daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle (Buttz) Brown. She was united in marriage to Robert Lee Dye, April 6, 1956 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Robert preceded her in death on January 4, 1986.
Others preceding her in death stillborn daughter, Kathy Jo Dye, brother, Frank Brown, sisters, Luella Costess, Wanda Brown and Judy Frieze, and one granddaughter, Ashley Dye.

She attended Council Bluffs High School and was a Certified Medical Technician, retiring from Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Surviving are sons, William Dye, Wellington, KS, Randy (Tammy) Dye, Elmo, MO; daughters, Debra (Dennis) Kent, Shelly Salyer and Sadie (Doug) Leabo all of Elmo, MO; brothers, Claude Brown, Council Bluffs, IA, Floyd Brown, state of Nebraska, Kenny Brown, state of Kansas; sister, Rosetta Inman, Omaha, NE; 9 grandchildren, Tiffany, Aaron, Heather, Eain, Jeremy, Jennifer, Amanda, Alyson and Adison; 4 great-grandchildren, Bryan, Jasmine, Rose and Sedilia.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2010, with the funeral service at 2:00 PM
at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
