Jackson, James Orren, son of Orren Douglas Jackson and Abena Arika Groenwald was born at Polk township, Taylor County [Iowa], October 30, 1929 and departed this life May 4, 1995, at St Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri at the age of 65. He lived in Sheridan, Missouri and grew to maturity around Bedford, Iowa where he attended a count[r]y school. On December 21, 1938 he was united in marriage to Betty Jane Thorne at Harvey, Illinois and they lived in Coin, Iowa. To this union three children were born; Dorothy Jane, David Henry, and Darrin James Jackson. He was a self-employed mechanic and farmer. James was preceded in death by his mother, Abena and his brother, Donald Jackson. Left to cherish his memory are Mr and Mrs Orren Jackson, three children; Dorothy, David, and Darrin; eight brothers and five sisters; ten grandchildren and many loved ones and friends. Jackson, Orren Douglas, 96, of Bedford, Iowa, passed away on July 25, 2002, at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa. Funeral services were held on July 29, 2002, at the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Hopkins, Missouri, with Rev Susan Noakes officiating. Interment was at the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri. Orren was born the son of Jacob Orren Jackson and Cora Alice Sheeley Jackson on September 13, 1905, at Hopkins, Missouri. Orren attended the Valley Country School at Hopkins, Missouri and was a farmer most of his life. Orren married Abena Reika Groenwald on December 12, 1928 at Grundy County, Iowa and Lois Streitenberger on May 24, 1976. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Abena Jackson in July 11, 1875 and Lois Jackson; two sons, James O. Jackson and Donald H. Born Jan 1, 1908, in Nodaway County, Mo., to Jacob Orren and Cora Alice Sheley Jackson, he was a farmer. He married Margaret Frances Thomsen, Dec 24, 1931, in Maryville [Missouri]. Mr Jackson was a life long resident of the Bedford and Hopkins areas. He attended the Valley Community schools. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence Jackson; and a grandson, Jacob Wayne Jackson. Survivors include two sons, Frederick L. Jackson of Bedford, and Robert D. Jackson, Robert, 88, Skidmore [Missouri], died Saturday, Oct 29, 1994, at St Francis Hospital, Maryville [Missouri]. Born April 3, 1906, near Skidmore, to Chrisman H. and Bessie Dovell Jackson, he had retired from farming after 50 years. He married Adaline R. Bennett, Oct 16, 1926, in Sedalia [Missouri]. Mr Jackson was a graduate of Skidmore High School and attended North Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville, and Central Missouri State Teachers College, Warrensburg [Missouri]. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Skidmore; Farm Bureau; and the Shorthorn Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mildred Jackson and Frances Jackson; and one brother, Harry Jackson. Survivors include: his wife of the home; three sons, Kenneth Duane Jackson of St Joseph [Missouri], James R. Jackson of Billings, Mont., and Steve Jackson of Clearmont; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Johnson, Wallace Herschel Quentin, was born August 15, 1919, near Clearmont, Mo., and deceased Dec 24, 1934, near the farm home five miles southeast of Braddyville, Ia. He was 15 years, 4 months and 9 days of age. Death came by the accidental discharge of a gun, no one knowing just how the accident happened. Wallace was the sixth child in a family of seven children, the two oldest, Chiquita and Teddy, having preceded him in death. He was a member of the young people's Free Methodist Sunday school class at Shambaugh [Iowa]. We shall miss him from our midst. He leaves to mourn his untimely and tragic death, his father and mother, Mr and Mrs Geo Johnson; four brothers, Maynard of Clarinda [Iowa], Eldon of Shenandoah [Iowa], Vernon of McPherson, Kansas, and Llewelyn at home, and many relatives and friends. She is survived by her husband Jeff of the home, sons Shaun of Winona, Minnesota and Brandon of Clarinda, Iowa, her mother Doyn Jacobs of Worth, Missouri, her sisters, Carolyn Traunernicht of Whitesville, Missouri, Kathy Adwell, Worth, Missouri, and Carla Fisher of Stanberry, Missouri. Born on June 18, 1924 in Burlington Junction, MO, the son of the late Harold Dale & Wilma Lenore (Bush) Jones, Sr. He was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Air force. He was a member of the First Christian Church & James Edward Gray American Legion both of Maryville and numerous other organizations. A graduate of Horace Mann High School, he attended Northwest Missouri State University. He was a contractor for many years and the former owner of The Plant House, Maryville, and Myers Watson Florist, St. Joseph. He is survived by his devoted wife, Evonne (Adams) Jones, whom he married on March 11, 1945 in Maryville, loving children, Rego Jones and wife, Winifred, Maryville, Jan A. Fisk and husband, Ronald, Cameron; loving grandchildren, Amy Willard and husband Andy, Maryville, Janna Mannis and husband, Greg, Camdenton, & Casey Jane Fisk, Cameron; great grandchildren, Taylor Willard, Baylee Willard, A.J. Willard & Lilian Mannis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at the Danfelt Funeral Home, 951 S. daughter's home in Omaha. Born on April 2, 1927 in Burlington Jct., Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Perry & Della Mae (Meyers) West. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Dorman Johnson, on September 5, 1992. Virginia lived in the Skidmore, Quitman, and Maryville area all her life until moving to Omaha with her daughter in 2002. She was a member of the Skidmore Christian Church. She worked most of her life as a Nurse's Aide at several healthcare facilities in Maryville until she became disabled. She is survived by her loving children, Vivian Wright and husband Sam, St. Joseph, MO; Frances Hammond, Omaha, NE; Franklin D. Johnson, Espanola, NM; and John E. West, the nephew she raised. She is also survived by grandchildren Lisa Townley, Blue Springs, MO; Sandra Hammond, Omaha, NE; Christina Kelly, Rushville, MO; Kent Hubbard, Lawson, MO; Amy Marie West, Albany; and Cody and Nathan West, St. Joseph, MO. There are 14 great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Franklin G. West, George West, and Roland West, and sisters, Agnes Gunther, Luellyn Rose Palmerton, and Dorothy Baglin. She leaves a husband and two children and an idolized mother to mourn her loss, as well as numerous other friends. Her disease was lung fever and in spite of doctors and friends proved fatal. The interment was at Elmo at 2:00 pm on the 27th. |

[126] Mrs Frank Jones Dies, Funeral at Pickering Mrs Gertrude Nichols Jones, 80 years of age, widow of Frank W. Jones died at 7 o'clock last night at the home of her son, Sanford E. Jones, in Pickering where she had lived the last two months. Mrs Jones became ill last week. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Christian church in Pickering, conducted by Rev L.B. Day. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, near Maryville. Mrs Jones lived at the southwest edge of Maryville until the death of Mr Jones in March, 1933. Since his death, she had made her home with her children. Mrs Jones was born October 1, 1859, in Ohio. Her marriage to Mr Jones took place September 11, 1879, at Milton, Kas. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs J.I. Ogborn, Talent, Ore., and Mrs H.H. Husted, Kinsley, Kas; five sons, Earl E.
