Auten, Karen Sue Harman -
Karen Sue Auten, 68, of Barnard, Missouri, passed from this life on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Karen was born on July 20, 1951, in St. Joseph. Her parents were Elmer F. and Rosa Christena (Pierce) Harman. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her brother, Alvin Lee Harman.
She graduated from North Andrew School, Rosendale, Missouri, in 1969.
On November 22, 1969, Karen was united in marriage to George Auten, Jr., at the Rea Union Church, Rea, Missouri.
She had worked for many years at the Energizer plant in Maryville, until it’s closing, then was the secretary for the Grant Township Board, Barnard, MO.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Barnard, where she taught Sunday school and helped with church camp and bible school; she enjoyed her church very much. Karen liked to sew and work with flowers. She never missed a grandkids ballgame or event.
She is survived by her husband: George, of the home, Barnard, Missouri; 3 daughters: Brenda (Brian) Meyer, Liberty, Missouri, Carrie (Bryan) Freemyer, Maryville, Missouri, and Serena (Clay) Salsbury, Mound City, Missouri; 8 grandchildren: Tristan, Taylar, and Tejay Freemyer, Cassidy, Sydni, and Alexis Meyer, Gage and Gavyn Salsbury,; 2 sisters: Cheryll Fowler, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Charlene (Rick) Colorado, Ft. Worth, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow in the Barnard Cemetery, Barnard, Missouri

Shirley M. Bears, 85, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.
Shirley was born in Halls, MO, on May 29, 1934.
She is survived by her 3 children, Trevia Allen, Al Coffelt, and Craig Coffelt; her sister, Streausie Bryson, King City, MO; and a grandchild.

Brand, Richard W. -
Richard W. Brand, 88, of Hopkins, Missouri, passed unexpectedly from this life at his home on Saturday, May 30, 2020.
Richard was born near Clearmont, Missouri on November 7, 1931. His parents were Wayne R. and Sylvia (Voshell) Brand. He lived in the Clearmont area for several years before the family moved to Hopkins.
He attended the Plum Grove Country School, and then graduated from Hopkins High School in 1949.
Richard was a US Army veteran, serving from 1952 to 1954 as a Sergeant in Korea.
He was a self-employed farmer and raised livestock. He liked tending his farm and stock and building fence. Richard enjoyed restoring old tractors and cars, telling stories and to reminisce. He loved his family; wife, kids and grandkids.
Richard was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the former Xenia Lodge, AF & AM; the North Nodaway Board of Education; the ASCS (now FSA) County Committee; the Show-Me Tractor Cruise; Hopkins Historical Society; a charter member of the Hopkins FFA; a 4-H Leader; a recipient of the Missouri Farm Family award; and the Nodaway County Agriculture Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Alex Brand, in 2015; his brother Robert Brand; sisters, Doris Campbell, Helen Abbey; and infant sister, Sylvia Brand.
On April 8, 1956, Richard was united in marriage to Lois Ann Alexander, at the home of her parents, rural Hopkins, Missouri. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by his four children: Debra (Kyle) Vickers, El Dorado Springs, Missouri; William (Ellen) Brand, Hopkins, Missouri; Joseph (Kim) Brand, Salem, Missouri; and Thomas (Beth) Brand, St. Joseph, Missouri; 11 grandchildren: Kimberly (Brett) Kay, David (Stephanie) Brand, Nathan Vickers, Andrew Vickers, Ben Vickers, Jessica (Will) McBroom, Whitney (Cody) Fleenor, Kate Brand, Morgan (Tyler) Davison, Sylvia Brand, and Zoe Brand; 3 great-grandchildren: Abigail and Hannah Brand, and Micah Davison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow in the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, Missouri. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

Buesing, Eldon Lee -
Eldon Lee Buesing, 82, of Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Burlington Junction, Missouri and Page County, Iowa, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the Parkdale Manor Nursing Home, Maryville.
Eldon was born in Page County, Iowa, on August 26, 1937. His parents were Guenther and Erna (Wellhausen) Buesing; they preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by stepdaughter Rebecca Murphy in 1991 and by his wife, Jane, on February 25, 2020.
Eldon married Viola (Rope) in 1957 and moved to the farm at Burlington Jct. where he farmed, and they raised 4 children Angela, Valerie, Pamela & Brian. Eldon and Viola later divorced.
Eldon went to work for Sur-Gro Fertilizer plant in Burlington Junction in 1983 and married D. Jane Murphy in 1989. They moved to Maryville in 2005 and he retired in 2012 as the manager of the Sur-Gro Fertilizer plant in Burlington Junction. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Evangelical Church, Maryville. He was a former Kiwanis Club member and supported the annual tractor pulls in Burlington Junction.
His survivors include his children. Angela (Tom) Walkenbach, Hermann, Missouri, Valerie (Leon) Hamilton, Burlington Jct., Missouri, Pamela (Bill) Crowdes, Blue Springs, Missouri, Brian (Angela) Buesing, Harwood, Missouri; his brother, Richard (Jan) Buesing, Kearney, Missouri; his sister Marlene (Steve) Kelley, Rockford, Michigan: 7 grandchildren, Chelsea (Mark) Engemann, Shelby (Paula) Hamilton, Sophie and Chloe Crowdes, Amanda and Ben Buesing and Breanna (Cody) Yarick; 3 great grandchildren Madelyn and Caleb Engemann and Quinlan Hamilton.
And his stepchildren, Michael (Krista) Murphy, Savannah, Missouri, James (Cyndi) Murphy, Brownsville, Nebraska. 7 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.
Eldon has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. A private ceremony will be held at a later date

Buesing, Jane Greeley -
Jane Greeley Buesing, 87, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, with family at her side.
She was born at home near Burlington Junction, MO, on May 17, 1932. Her parents were David Barnes and Grace Louvada (Brown) Greeley. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
Jane attended the Hagey country school near their home, and later graduated from the Burlington Junction High School in 1950. It was her early adulthood on the farm where she acquired her meticulous skills for housekeeping and raising a family.
She married Leslie Murphy, also of Burlington Junction, and together they had 3 children. Becky, Mike and Jim. When her family grew up and moved away and it allowed her more time, she began doing secretarial work for an accounting firm, and later an agriculture business in Burlington Junction.
In 1989 she married Eldon L. Buesing. They lived on the farm until 2005 when they retired and moved to their current home in Maryville, MO.
Jane was a member of the United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction, the Lone Star Club, the Colfax Community Club, and the American Cancer Society on Atchison County. She enjoyed playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Rebecca Murphy, in 1991; her brother, Robert Greeley; and her sister Geraldine Bears.
She is survived by sons, Michael (Krista) Murphy, Savannah, MO, and James (Cyndi) Murphy, Brownsville, NE; grandson Scott (Jill) Murphy, and Caden and Kylie, Lees Summit, MO, granddaughters, Andrea (Craig) Labore, and Jacob and Madelyn, Grantham, NH, Karla Morgan, and Jackson and Alex, Savannah, MO, grandson, Jesse Murphy, and Liam and Cossette, Emporia, KS, granddaughter, Synthia Tunnel and Lindley, Sara (Austin) Murphy, and Walker, St. Joseph, MO, Frankie Hughes, and Ariell, Aubrey and Amira, Sydney, IA; her brother, Richard Greeley, Maryville, MO, and her sister, Louvada (Jim) McAlpin, New Market, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Burton Christie, 77, of Maryville, MO, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Mosaic Health Care ER, Maryville.
Harold was born on May 24, 1942, in Bethany, MO. His parents were Ray Harvey and Edith (Damon) Christie; they preceded him in death.
Harold was raised in New Hampton, MO, and graduated from the Bethany High School, class of 1960. He had lived in Hopkins, MO since 1985, and had moved to Maryville in 2016.
He farmed and had worked in agriculture all his life. He had last driven a truck for River Valley Ag in Hopkins. He had also driven a school bus for the South Harrison School District. He raised and showed registered hogs at State fairs over the years
He had been a member at the First Christian Church, New Hampton, MO.
He leaves his children, Janice Elizabeth (Don) Starman, Arcadia, IA, Sheila Jane (Jeff) Cramer, Highland, IL, and Harold Wayne (Colleen) Christie, Broken Arrow, OK; 2 grandchildren, Katlynn Nichole and Taylor Lane Bussett; 3 brothers, Raymond (Barb) Christie, Harvey Dwight (Earlene) Christie, and Herb Christie; 2 sisters, Sue Surritte, and Lillian (Ron) McCulley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
His memorial service will be at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
His graveside committal service will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday at the Foster Cemetery, New Hampton, MO

Clements, Tanya Renee Gerstner - Tanya Renee Clements, 52, of Skidmore, Missouri passed on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
Tanya was born on February 7, 1968 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late John C. and Billie S. (Kempa) Gerstner. She was a certified medical technician and had work at various nursing homes in the area and most recently at Maryville Living Center.
She married Jeffrey S. Clements on October 7, 1995 in Amazonia, Missouri. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include their daughter, Kimberly Clements; two brothers, Brian and Brad Gerstner and one sister, Leah Hale; father and mother-in-law, Jule and Louise Clements; three brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Kathy), Matt (Wanda) and Randy Clements; Aunt, Joan (Gary) Shaw and nephews, Michael Clements, Gary Hale, Paul Hale and Kevin Gerstner.
Services 10am Thursday, July 2nd at the Price Funeral Home in Maryville, Missouri. Burial Weathermon Cemetery in Guilford, Missouri. Coleman, Stephen Allen -
Stephen Allen Coleman, 49, of Maryville, MO, passed away following a one car accident in Andrew County, on March 3, 2020.
Steve was born in Maryville on August 22, 1970; and was a lifelong resident of the area. His mother is Carol King of Maryville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy King in 2008.
Steve was a 1988 graduate of Maryville High School. He attended Northwest Missouri State University also of Maryville.
He attended the Countryside Christian Church.
He was employed in the shipping and receiving department at the Federal Mogul Plant in Maryville for 25 years.
Steve had a passion for refereeing and umpiring. He loved all sports, and especially his coaching of the bantam football league with the NW Hounds team. He also coached little league baseball and softball. He was a dog lover.
He is survived by his wife, Angie; his mother Carol King, Maryville; his children, Tyler Allen (Haley Bordelon) Coleman, Colorado Springs, CO, and Haley Renee (Christian) Patterson, Rosendale, MO; his grandson Colton Patterson, Rosendale, MO; his brother, Jeff (Kristina) King, Santa Rosa, CA; his 2 sisters, Terri (David) Gallegos, Altus, OK, and Tina (Chris) Fletchall, Sheridan, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 9, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, IA

Cummins, Christopher J. - Christopher J. Cummins, 70, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Maryville Living Center.
Christopher was born on July 19, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a 1967 graduate of Maryville High School and attended Northwest Missouri State University. Christopher was the manager of Cummins Furniture in Maryville. He was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and was involved with N.A. He enjoyed shooting and collecting guns, rock and artifact hunting, music, shortwave radio, astronomy, fishing and paleontology.
He married Marianne Donegan on November 24, 1973 in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Chris (Blaire) Cummins, Maryville, Missouri and Mike Cummins, St. Joseph, Missouri; sister, Ann Cummins, Topeka, Kansas and his greatest joy of all, his granddaughter, Cecilia Joye Cummins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Doris (Logan) Cummins.
Mr. Cummins has been cremated under the care of Price Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 11th at 2PM at the St. Patricks Cemetery in Maryville. A register book will be available for friends to sign from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, May 10th at the funeral home. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends

Crane, Betty Jean Lynch - Betty Jean Crane, 86, of Albany, Missouri formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at her home.
Betty was born on February 6, 1934 to the late George and Leona (Brandon) Lynch. She attended school in Maryville and worked for the Opportunity Sheltered Workshop for many years. She was kind hearted and a hard worker. Betty enjoyed baking, crochet, sewing and working puzzles.
She married George A. Crane on February 9, 1960 in Maryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1995.
Survivors include her children, Gloria, Tom and Richard and her group home family.

Davis, Jeanne Patricia - Jeanne Patricia Davis, 70, formerly of Conception, MO, died Monday, April 6, 2020 at her home in Maryville, MO.
She was born February 12, 1950 in Maryville to Clarence (Doc) and Marguerite(Peters) Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tommy.
Jeanne is survived by sisters Ann Brothers, Thornton, CO, Bette (Max) Nelson, Amazonia MO and brother John (Colleen) Davis, Kansas City MO nephews Sean Nelson and John Pierson and nieces Shelley Nelson, Bobbi Messner, Gina Rasinski and Shannon McSpadden.
Jeanne resided on a farm near Conception most of her life until her Mother's passing in 1998. She then moved to Maryville and resided in a group home. Jeanne's favorite foods were pizza and tacos. She loved her stuffed animals and dolls. Jeanne will be surely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Degase, Donna Karyl Kling - Donna Karyl Degase, 73, of Clarinda, Iowa formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at her home.
Donna was born on August 24, 1946 at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri to Donald Cleo and Norma Ruth (Archibald) Kling. Donna grew up in Maryville and graduated from Maryville RII High School with the class of 1964. She also received her Beauty School Certificate in 1965 in St. Joseph. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maryville. She worked at Casey’s and later for Subway Sandwich Shop in Clarinda until her retirement.
Donna was a house painter and secretary at AD Lumber In her younger years she loved water skiing, family dinners and the holidays. She enjoyed garage sailing and also going to the Lied Center. Most important to Donna was her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Donna’s memory are daughter, Michelle (Tom) Roberts, Corning, Iowa; sons Brent (Angie) Degase, Clarinda, Iowa, Curt Degase, Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughter, Mallory Degase, Clarinda, Iowa, Aaron Glick, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Amber (Ethan) Woldruff, Clarinda, Iowa, great-grandchildren, Waverly Woldruff and Jace Woldruff; brother, John (Vicki) Kling, Maryville, Missouri, sister, Pam (Larry) Davison, Hopkins, Missouri along with nieces and nephews. Dougan, James A. -
James A. Dougan, 96, of Ravenwood, Missouri, passed from this life on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at the Pineview Manor Nursing Home, Stanberry, Missouri.
James was born at home in Barnard, MO, on March 15, 1924; his parents were Frank and Minnie (Dunn) Dougan. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
James married Bonnie J. Sherry on January 20, 1945, at the First Christian Church in Maryville. She passed away in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son Kenny Dougan in 2019, his daughter in law, Linda Dougan in 2019; his half-brother, Ray Purviance, his half-sister, Mildred Weir, and siblings, Farrell Dougan, Harold Dougan, Herschel Dougan, and Byrl Dougan, and Garnet Leedy.
He retired from Northwest Missouri State University from the environmental services department, and then from McDonald’s in Maryville, as a handy man.
James was a member of the Ravenwood Christian Church, the American Hereford Association, and the Carriage and Driving Society of Kansas City.
He restored horse drawn equipment; old buggies and carts. He liked to collect Ball mason jars. He hated weeds and was forever pulling them on his farm. He enjoyed his tractor and being outside.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Keith Dougan, and Kirby and wife, Deb Dougan, and daughter in law, Verlene Dougan, all of Ravenwood, Missouri: 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, on Monday, June 15, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow in the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville

DuFrain, George Edward -
George Edward (Ed) DuFrain, age 79, of Maryville, Missouri, died March 24, 2020, at his home. He was born of goodly parents, Paul (Sooner) and Katherine DuFrain, on November 2, 1940 in Newton, Illinois. He graduated from Newton High School in 1958. He served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961, in the Pacific and South China Sea, off the coast of Vietnam, on the USS Wilkerson. After his discharge, he married Nancy Jennings of Olney, Illinois, on January 19, 1962.
He graduated from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, then attended post graduate school at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, Cardiology training at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, Bird Technological Institute of Environmental Systems, San Diego, California, and Business Administration, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
Edward was the Technical Director of Pulmonary Technology, which included the Respiratory Training Program, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Quincy, Illinois, Director of Allied Health Services, University Hospital, Bloomington, Indiana, and then Department head for Cardiology and Respiratory services, at St. Francis (Mosaic) hospital, Maryville, Missouri. In 1988 he became the administrator for Family Medicine and Surgery Associates, also of Maryville. After his retirement from the medical field he opened up E&J piano shop. He engaged in his passion for Church service, tuning pianos, genealogy work, Boy Scouts/church youth programs and working his large garden. He enjoyed visiting with people and sharing his garden produce with others.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, past president of the Piano Tuners
Guild 6th District, as well as various professional associations related to his vocation in medicine.
His is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy, son Joe DuFrain, daughter in law Alexandra (Alex), daughter Marina Kennedy, son in law Brian Kennedy, and his grandchildren Emily, Joseph, Ryder, Walker, Quincy, Cole, Merrin, and Avelinn. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Ida and Joseph Jennings, and sister Carmen Stone.
Edward had a great love of the scriptures. He was an avid reader of Bible and Book of Mormon. His favorite passage is located in the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:34.
Due to the current conditions related to the virus outbreak the viewing well be on Friday, March 27, at the Bram Funeral Home, however only 10 people will be permitted in at a time. The funeral will be the following day, but it will be a private family funeral, again due to church and city ordinances related to the current virus situation. After cremation, his ashes will be interred at a later date in Newton, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maryville R-II Education Foundation, 1501 South Munn, Maryville, MO 64468, to help support the art and music program at the high school

Judith E. Fries Dunn, 74, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on January 27, 2020, at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, MO. With family and friends by her side.
Judy was born on June 2nd, 1945 in Fairfax, MO to Albert Fries and Alice Nell Prather Fries. They preceded her in death.
Judy was an LPN and worked in Bonner Springs, KS for a period of time.
While residing in Parkdale Manor she loved to compete in the bowling tournaments, bingo and just winning the hearts of everyone that crossed paths with her.
Her survivors include Pamla J Wiley, daughter and Charles L. Blazer, Son. Grandchildren: Jamie, Brett, Eric, Alisha, and Trinity. Great Grandchildren: Clayton, Keirsten, Teigan, Ladedin, Alayna, Camren, Baby Eric, and Chase.

Richard Dean Ebrecht, 67, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO, after a short illness.
Richard was born in Maryville on December 31, 1952, to George William “Gomas” and Mary (Hamilton) Ebrecht Sr. He was a life-long resident of the area.
Richard was a 1970 graduate of the Maryville High School; and had been an over the road trucker for many years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his siblings, Virgil Ebrecht, George W. Ebrecht, Mary Riley, Fred Wayne Ebrecht, and Michael Henry Ebrecht, an infant brother, Billy Ebrecht.
He married Gale Price and they later divorced but remained friends. She is of the home.
He is survived by his children; sons, Richard (Christina) Smith, South Dakota, Kyle (Leslie) Ebrecht, Bedford, IA, and his daughter, Melanie Ebrecht, Maryville, MO; 8 grandchildren, Bryla and Karsen Ebrecht, Hunter, Zach, Jackson, Colton, and Jenna Smith, Erin Colvin; 3 great grandchildren; his siblings, Clarence James (Grace) Ebrecht, Maryville, MO, Charles (Vicki) Ebrecht, Barnard, Missouri, Louis (Margaret) Ebrecht, Titus, Alabama; and Shirley (Wayland) Sanders, Quitman, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fisher, Eileen Eckstein -
Eileen Fisher, 91, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Parkdale Manor in Maryville.
Born and raised in the Clyde and Conception Junction, MO, area, she was the daughter of Michael and Gertrude (Curtin) Eckstein. She married John “Donald” Fisher on May 26, 1948. They were married 68 years before his passing in 2016
She leaves behind 2 daughters, Donna Fisher Buffa, and Dianne Fisher, and son in law Michael Buffa, all of Maryville, MO. She is also survived by one sister, Clarice Eckstein Holtman Schuetz, and many loving sister in laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Donald Fisher, and son Gerald Dean Fisher. Sisters that preceded her in death: Ava Eckstein, Eva Eckstein Fimple, Leiva Eckstein Klaus, and Amelia Eckstein Myers. Brothers that preceded her in death: Hubert Eckstein, Louis Eckstein, Bernard Eckstein, Robert Eckstein, Leo Eckstein, and Jerry Eckstein.
Over the last four years, Eileen embraced a new extended family of AseraCare Hospice, and Parkdale Manor caregivers, as well as her Parkdale resident friends.
Eileen spent her adult life in Maryville and worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at many area businesses that included: REA, Regal Diaper Factory, Trimble Oil Co, Gray Insurance, and Regional Council. She was most known for her work with Drs. Byland and Wempe as their office manager until their retirement.
Eileen had many interests and hobbies. She was an exquisite cook, seamstress, and cake decorator. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and created many Christmas stockings that she gave to friends and family.
She and her husband were among the proud walkers in Maryville’s first “Relay for Life.” Together they created the beautiful acreage called “Iris Lane”; and loved sharing its beauty with the community. Though “Don” was the one with his hands in the soil, Eileen helped distribute bushels of free vegetables from its garden to friends and nursing homes in the area.
She loved feeding and watching birds and squirrels from their home. Come holiday time, she was prepared to treat friends, neighbors, and “drop-ins” with bags of her wonderful homemade peanut brittle. Her giving nature will be missed by many.
A visitation and celebration of life for family and friends will be held from 2-4:00 PM, on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. A private family burial of cremains will be held later at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, MO

Gaskill, Steven Allen -
Steven Allen Gaskill, 64, of Maryville, MO, passed away June 16, 2020, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.
Steve was born October 31, 1955, in Maryville. His parents were Kenneth David and Lois Irene (Chaney) Gaskill. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death: one son Nicholas Michael Davidson; his sisters: Diane Gaskill in infancy, Sharon Holliday, and Ethel Kay, and one brother Terry Eugene Gaskill.
Steve was a life- long resident of the Maryville area. He was of the Baptist faith.
Steve very much loved his family. He was a teacher and was very patient with them. He loved working on vehicles and anything to do with working with his hands. He liked to talk with his friends and talk on the CB radio.
He was a local businessman and owned and operated his own sanitation service.
On December 1, 1973, in Maryville, MO, Steve was united in marriage to Ann Louise Davidson, she survives of the home.
His survivors include his son Anthony (Nicole) Gaskill of Maryville, his daughter Stephanie (John) Amlong of Union Star, MO, 6 grandchildren Michael, Matthew, and Zach Davis, Natasha Puckett, MacKenzie Evans, and Charlyse Branson. One brother Robert Gaskill and two sisters Peggy Schieber and Marcia Gaskill.
Mr. Gaskill has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
A memorial visitation for Steve will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020, from 6-8 PM at the Bram funeral Home, 206 East South Hills Drive, Maryville, MO

George, Charles Henry - Charles Henry George passed away peacefully April 18th surrounded by friends. Chuck or “Vegas”, as he was known to his friends was born in Chicago Illinois on March 24, 1949. He graduated from Maryville RII High School in 1967.
After graduating, he had a successful career as captain of a fishing trawler sailing out of Tampa, Florida. In 1987 he moved to Roatan, Honduras and founded Vegas Electric, SA which helped to bring electrical service to the island community. Over the last decade, as president and CEO, he expanded into renewable energy specializing in solar and wind energy, significantly lowering the carbon effect on the fragile reef ecosystem of the Bay Islands.
He was a certified electrical engineer, a member of National Electrical Contractor Association (NECA) and a Overseas Representative for Project Trust for 25 years, responsible for hundreds of young volunteers create lasting impacts in communities across Honduras.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marian George. He is survived by brother Michael and sister Ruth Anne Lacky. Services will be held in the future in Roatan with burial in the Port Royal community.

Goettemoeller, Bertha Carter - Lincoln, Nebraska - Bertha A. Goettemoeller, 88, of Lincoln, Nebraska formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2020 at St. Jane de Chantal (Madonna Long Term Care).
Bertha was born on July 4, 1931 in Maryville, Missouri to Elva “Bert” and Louise (McCann) Carter of Clyde, Missouri. She was a 1949 graduate of Horace Mann High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Mount Saint Scholastica (now Benedictine College) in Atchison, Kansas in 1953. She was a homemaker and member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Maryville.
She married David F. Goettemoeller on May 21, 1957 in Saint Rose, OH. He preceded her in death in October 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers James Carter and C.J. Carter, sisters Sr. Lucy Carter, OSB and Dorothy Garvey.
Children include Rosanna Goettemoeller of Lincoln, NE, Yvonne (Patrick) Cole of Bedford, IN, Lisa Goettemoeller (deceased), Karen (John) Lucke of Fayette, MO, Adrian (Erin) Goettemoeller of St. Joseph, MO, Jeffrey (deceased) (Jennifer) Goettemoeller of Lincoln, NE, Dareth Goettemoeller of Columbia, MO; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Sr. Rosanna Carter, OFSM of Bridgeton, MO, and Catherine Orosz of Greeley, CO; many nieces and nephews.

Gossard, Lois E. - Lois E. Gossard, 97, of Pickering, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Nodaway Nursing Home.
Lois was born on June 22, 1922 in Clearmont, Missouri to Benjamin and Myrtle (Hughbanks) Gossard. She was a graduate of Barnard High School and graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teacher College and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Lois was a lifelong educator and caregiver. She worked in various school districts and finished her teaching career in the Hamburg Iowa School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy McCord and Irene Johnson, two brothers, John and Ernest Gossard and one nephew, John McCord.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Karen Winters, St. Louis, Missouri, Holly Sprick, Lenexa, Kansas, Bret Johnson, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Ben Johnson, Blue Eye, Missouri, and James Gossard, St. Louis, Missouri and her close friends, Charles and Donna Smith, Pickering, Missouri.

Grace, William Richard - William Richard Grace, 67, of Clearmont, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at his home.
William was born on April 27, 1952 in Maryville, Missouri to Darrell W. and Marilyn A. (Williams) Grace. He was a 1970 graduate of West Nodaway High School and was a foreman at Grace Construction Management.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Grace of Maryville, Missouri; daughter, Tiffany Moody, New Braunfels, Texas; brother, Robert (Debi) Grace, Burlington Junction, Missouri; two grandchildren, Madison and Cooper Moody; niece, Melanie Grace, and nephew, Darby Grace both of Burlington Junction, Missouri.

Graham, Mary Lee Stainislaus - Mary Lee Graham, 93, of Kansas City, Missouri formerly of Maryville, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Kansas City.
Mary was born on February 7, 1927 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Lawrence and Ruby (Denny) Stainislaus. She was a graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph and was a medical clerk and receptionist at St. Francis Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Maryville.
She married Carl M. Graham on July 27, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2006. She was also preceded by her parents and her siblings, Harold, Marvin, Gerry, Melvin, James Stainislaus and Helen Adkins, Lucille McDowell, Frankie Miller, Shirley McDowell, Mildred Jenkins and Fayetta Smith.
Survivors include her children Steve Graham, Maryville, Missouri and Carla (Randy) Beason, Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan Graham, Venessa (Justin) Brooks and Matt Beason; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Avery Brooks.
Services 10am Saturday, July 11th at Price Funeral Home in Maryville. Burial will follow at Nodaway Memorial Gardens in Maryville. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, July 10th at Price Funeral Home. Graham, Michael Wayne - Michael Wayne Graham passed away May 20, 2020 at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri. He was born October 8, 1944 in Grinnell, Iowa to Robert Crawford Graham and Wanda Winters Graham.
After graduating from BGM Community School in 1963, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Simpson College in 1967. In 1970 he was drafted and served in US Army as Military Police in Vietnam for two years. He then returned to Drake University to complete his Master of Science in Education in 1973.
Michael and Pamela Diane Willand married June 16, 1973 at Sion Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, Iowa.
He completed his PhD in Education in 1985 from Iowa State University. The family moved to Maryville, Missouri for Mike’s dream job as a professor of Education at Northwest Missouri State University. He served as Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership until his retirement in 2008.
Michael is preceded in death by his wife Pam and his parents.
He is survived by his partner Kathy O’Riley; daughters Jennifer Graham Zimmerman (Dan) and Amanda Graham Langston (Mike); seven grandchildren and four bonus grandchildren; siblings Sandra Spellman, Robert Graham (Nancy), and Linda Bottema (Bob); sisters and brothers in law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville for family.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with a graveside service open to family and friends

Haer, Shirley Ann Salfrank - Shirley Haer passed away on May 16, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Center in Villisca, Iowa, while surrounded by her family. Shirley Ann was born on July 26, 1935, to Walter and Gladys (Whited) Salfrank on the family farm outside of Mound City, Missouri. She was the oldest of three children. Shirley was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She graduated high school from Bellevue, Missouri in 1953, and subsequently attended Platt College Secretarial in St. Joseph, Missouri. Upon graduation, she was employed at the St. Joseph News Press as the secretary to the editor. In the Spring of 1958, Shirley met the love of her life at a square dance in St. Joseph. He was a handsome Air Force veteran and she would recall dancing every dance with him.
On December 19, 1958, she married Garth Haer in Rockport, Missouri. Together, they had three children, Gregory, Lesia, and Stephen. They settled in Maryville, Missouri, until Garth graduated from college, and he began his teaching and coaching career.
The family moved to Villisca in August of 1969. Shirley enjoyed her job as a bank teller at Nodaway Valley Bank for 31 years. When she wasn’t working or running her household, Shirley could be found in the bleachers cheering on her favorite teams. She was especially proud to watch her children, and later, grandchildren in all of their activities. As she got older, she enjoyed attending the College World Series and Creighton basketball games with Garth. Shirley was a wonderful cook, especially during holidays. Her signature deviled eggs were a family favorite. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending time on the front porch. She and Garth shared many adventures, including trips to Europe and Hawaii.
Perhaps her favorite role in life was being a grandmother. Whenever any of her grandchildren entered her house, she would always drop whatever she was doing in order to spend time playing with them. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sharon Blanton, and brother Jim Salfrank. She is survived by her husband Garth of 61 years; children, Greg (Tracy) Haer of Omaha, NE., Lesia Schafer of Clive, IA., Stephen (Jodi) Haer of Villisca, IA.; grandchildren, Jacob Haer, Taylor Haer, Megan Schafer, Kaitlyn (Nolan) McDonald, Brendan Schafer, Morganne (Alec) Sindelar, Lexie Haer, and Maggie Haer, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed for many things, especially her smile

Helzer, Norma Jean Dicken - Norma Jean Helzer, 86, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Oak Pointe of Maryville.
Norma was born on March 16, 1934 in Graham, Missouri to Charles and Thelma (Baer) Dicken. She was a graduate of the Graham High School, a homemaker and member of the Graham United Methodist Church.
She married Kenneth W. Helzer on July 14, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2006. She was also preceded by her parents and her son, Duane Leroy Helzer on July 25, 2010.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Jared (Megan) Helzer, and Carey Jackson of Graham, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Nolan and Wyatt Helzer and her daughter-in-law, Joyce Jenkins, Troy, Kansas.

Hill, Frances Marie Chesnut - Frances Marie Hill, 82 Maryville, Missouri died on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.
Frances was born January 8, 1938, in Skidmore, Missouri, daughter of the late George Howard and Irene (Davison) Chesnut. On January 6, 1957 she married Gordan Gene Hill in Maryville.
Frances was a1956 graduate of Maryville High School, and graduate of Gard Business College.
She was the Sales Assistant for WQYK FM Radio Station from 1978-2003, and a member of the Country Music Association
She was preceded by son, Jay Hill, in 2014.
Surviving are daughter, Bonnie (Randy) Acklin, Barnard, MO, brothers Stanley (Virginia) Chesnut, and Mike (Belinda) Chesnut both of Maryville, MO, sister Donna (Gary) Acklin, Shawnee, OK; brother-in-law Rodney (Cheryl) Hill, St. Charles, MO, sister-in-law Elaine Iwinski, Safety Harbor, Fl: 5 grand-children; 17 great-grand children.
Open visitation will be Saturday, May 16, from noon to 5:00 PM.at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
A Family Gathering will be 2:00 PM Sunday May 17, at Price Funeral Home located at 120 East First Street, Maryville.

Jennings, Patty Lou Brant - Grant City, Missouri - Patty Lou Jennings, 78, of Grant City, Missouri passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Patty was born on January 9, 1942 in Nodaway County, Missouri to Charles E. and Sara E. (Chapman) Brant. She was a homemaker and married Max L. Jennings on March 14, 1975 in Stanberry, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1990. She was also preceded by her parents, daughter, Sharon L. Dozier, brother, Harold E. Brant and sister, Kitty Lewis.
She is survived by her children, Charley L Ross, Grant City, Missouri, James, L. Ross, Grant City, Missouri, Frankie L. Ross, Worth, Missouri, Marilyn K. Bennett, Worth, Missouri, Barbara S. McGuinness, Maryville, Missouri; two step-sons, Danny and Terry Jennings; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Laughlin, Shirley Ann Farnan - Maryville, Missouri - Shirley Ann Laughlin, 85, of Maryville, MO passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2020. Shirley was born near Guilford, MO on October 8, 1934 to the late Adah and C.H. (Conk) Farnan. She graduated from Stanberry High School in 1952, going on to earn a B.S. in Home Economics from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS in 1956. On May 25, 1957 she married Robert (Bob) Laughlin, also of Guilford, at Immaculate Conception Basilica, Conception. Together they had four children: Ann Marie (Richard) Pecard, Northfield, IL, Roger Laughlin, Maryville, MO, Roberta Laughlin, Chicago, IL and Larry (Jeannine Riordan) Laughlin, Waukee, IA. Robert preceded Shirley in death in 1995.
In 1956, Shirley began teaching Home Economics at Jefferson High School in Conception Junction, MO. She later taught at Mount Alverno Academy in Maryville until its closure in 1971. Shirley retired in 1996 after working 23 years as a clerk with the Associate Circuit Court in Maryville.
Shirley was an active member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, St. Therese Circle, the Mosaic Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Chapter KP of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and the Modern Managers Extension Club. She was also an enthusiastic bridge player.
In addition to her children, Shirley is survived by six grandchildren: Megan (John) Leister, Erynn and Ryan Laughlin, Caroline, Claire and Christian Pecard, and one great-grandson, Sebastian Leister. She is also survived by her brother C.D. (Danny) Farnan and his wife, Anita Farnan, of Maryville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her brother Connie Farnan preceded her in death in 1985. Connie’s wife, Carylon Farnan of Maryville, also survives.

Madden, Connie Florence Adwell -
Connie Florence Madden, 80, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Oak Pointe of Maryville, with family at her side.
Connie was born on July 13, 1939, in Ravenwood, MO, her parents were Earl Bolan and Edna Marie (Slagle) Adwell, they preceded her in death.
Connie was a Ravenwood High School graduate, and lived in Conception Junction for many years, then moved to St. Joe in 2005, and to Maryville in 2015. She had been a cook at the Jefferson C-123 School District in Conception Junction, MO.
Connie rode horses in her youth, liked to garden, to entertain, and to travel. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family, and water skied until age 72. Connie enjoyed water aerobics, and also did some tutoring with elementary students. She had been a member and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in St. Joseph.
On April 4, 1959, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell, MO, Connie was united in marriage to James Leo Madden. He passed away on March 23, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jacob Allen Madden, and her brother, Laverne Adwell.
Her survivors include her 5 children, Linda (Dave) Schieber, Springfield, MO, Beth (Rob) Simmerman, Conception Junction, MO, Debra (Randy) Schieber, Conception Junction, MO, Brian (Donnie Keeling) Madden, St. Joseph, MO, and Michelle (David) Law, King City, MO; her sister, Verna (Jim) Rhodes, Columbia, MO; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Madden has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Tri-Meadows Reception Hall, Conception Junction, MO. The burial will be at a later date at St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO

Marley, Charlene "Cricket"
- Charlene "Cricket" Marley, 95, of Plantation, FL, passed away December 30, 2019. Born in Maryville, Missouri on December 15, 1924, and graduated from Maryville High School and attended Iowa State University. Cricket met and married John E. Marley "Jack" in college, and they were married on June 19th, 1944. They lived on Alamogordo Air Base in New Mexico, until the end of World War II. Living in Chicago, Jack learned radio repair and was the pioneer of television in his home town of Bedford, Iowa. In 1957 they moved to Fort Lauderdale to escape the cold winter. They were in the wholesale costume jewelry business for 20 years and also rented apartments.
In 1983, they retired. Cricket and Jack enjoyed traveling with their trailer, seeing 49 states, and enjoyed several trips to Europe.
After Jack passed away in 2007, she moved to Covenant Village of Florida, where she made many friends; she especially enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles with her friends.
Cricket was a 75-year member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She was a founding member of Violet Volunteers at Broward Nursing Home.
Cricket is survived by her son, David Marley and his wife Sue of Port St. Joe, FL; daughter, Cathy Welky and her husband Larry of Fort Lauderdale; five grandchildren, Jay Marley of Tampa, Carolyn and her husband Randolph, Robert, James and his wife Sulky, and Charles; two great-grandsons, William and Andrew. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 2007, her eldest son, John in 2006, and her daughter-in-law, Nook (Johns wife), in 2016.
Visitation will be Monday, January 6, from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM, at Covenant Village with funeral services at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park. Matheny, Ronald Allen - Ronald A. Matheny, 76 of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville.
Ronald was born on February 11, 1944 in Iowa City, Iowa to Paul and Ferneda (Termas) Matheny. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul Matheny, Jr. and Delbert Matheny; three sisters, Mardell Irene Straight, Delores Sanders and Isabelle Link.
He is survived by his three nephews, Delbert and James Matheny and Dick and (Tammie) Sanders and his close friend, Todd Poppa.

McKee, Kathryn Marie -
Kathryn Marie McKee, 98, of Maryville, MO, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the Parkdale Manor, Maryville, MO.
She was born in Craig, MO, on September 24, 1921. Her parents were Harry P. “Bert” and Ella (Ideker) McKee.
Kathryn was baptized as an infant and later confirmed into St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Craig.
She attended Craig, Missouri grade school and graduated from high school there. She obtained her B.S. degree in education from Northwest Missouri Teacher College, now Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. Later she attended the George Peabody School of Education at the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and obtained her M.A. degree in early childhood education.
She taught in the Craig Missouri public school, then taught at Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, MO, from 1946 to 1983.
Kathryn was a member and attended the Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville; was active with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and the Lutheran Campus Center. She was a member of the American Association of University Women; Chapter HT, of PEO.
On April 23, 1960, she was initiated into the Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma; and the Association of Childhood Education. She held both state and local office in the Nodaway County Retired Teacher Association, the Missouri State Retired Teacher Association; she was a member of the Nodaway County Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Nelson W. McKee, and half-sister, Sarah Margaret Vonderschmidt. And her beloved friend and companion, Dorothy L. Weigand.
She is survived by her cousins, Lucy Poynter Hunter and Ramona Rhodes.
Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville, MO. The burial will at 1:15 PM, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, MO

McMillen, Shirley Louise Bailey - Shirley McMillen, 89, of Maryville, Missouri passed away early on March 14, 2020 with her family by her side.
Shirley was born on March 10, 1931 in Maryville, Missouri to Floyd A. and Clara Bailey. She worked at Citizen State Bank and was a homemaker and bookkeeper for McMillen Oil Company. She loved spending time with her family. Shirley enjoyed taking care of her yard and flowers, sitting on her porch swing watching friends go by was a favorite pastime.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dutch.
She married Kenny McMillen on November 5, 1950 in Maryville and will have been married 70 years this November. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Sherry, Kenna (Denny) and Kevin (Michelle); four grandchildren, Casey (Kara) Parman, Jessie (Nathan) Prettyman, Kenzie McMillen and Betsy (Joel) Nespory; four great-grandchildren, Parker, Paxton, Piper and Porter Prettyman, Elsie and Baby Nespory, and Jack Parman.

Meyer, Mary John, Sister - Sr. Mary John Meyer, OSB, 88 passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Our Lady of Rickenbach in Clyde, Missouri.
Sr. Mary John was born on November 13, 1931 in Baileyville, Kansas to Henry and Clara (Haug) Meyer. She attended grade school in Baileyville, Kansas at the Sacred Heart Parish.
Laurene Marie Meyer entered the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration on February 21, 1948 and was given the name Sr. Mary John Meyer. Her first profession of vows was on September 17, 1949 and her final profession of vows was on November 6, 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Vernis and Donald Meyer and an infant sister, Mildred and two brother-in-laws, Dennis Holthaus and Steve Saggars.
Survivors include her Monastic Family and her brothers and sisters, Clarence, Kenny and Elaine Meyer, Marilyn Holthaus, Dolores Saggars, Kathy Buessing and Janice Tomlinson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14th from 1pm to 5pm at Price Funeral Home in Maryville. A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 15th at Our Lady of Rickenbach. Dorothy J. Morin, 85, of Ashland, MO, and formerly of Brookfield, MO, and of Graham, MO, passed from this life on Monday, March 2, 2020, at a nursing home in Ashland.
Dorothy was born on April 5, 1934, in Bolckow, MO, to the late John Ermal and Goldie Ruth (Collins) Sportsman. She had worked at the former Martin House Restaurant in Brookfield as a waitress. She had also babysat in her home. She formerly attended the Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield.
On February 3, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage to Francis Lee Darby, he passed away in 1965. She then married Ronnie Marvin Morin, on May 23, 1966. He passed on June 18, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Randy Lee Darby, and Danny Darby; her 4 brothers, Junior Ermal Sportsman, Robert “Bobby” Sportsman, Kenneth Leroy Sportsman and Clifford Raymond “Ray” Sportsman.
She is survived by her loving children, Rick Darby, Polo, MO, Pam (Jason) Smith, Ashland, MO, Mike (Rena) Morin, Raymore, MO; her loving sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Linville, Graham, MO; her daughter in law, Brenda, Darby, Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO

Orval J. Nelson, 78, of Ravenwood, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Orval was born in Guilford, Missouri, on November 11, 1941. His parents were Orval and Ruby (Bland) Nelson.
After graduating high school, Orval served 3 years and 10 months in the United States Air Force.
Orval was a retired Corrections Officer, and had worked at the Maryville Treatment Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ross Nelson, and a nephew, Charles Nelson.
Orval was united in marriage to Carolee Wallace, in 1977. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two children: Denise Wallace, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Kevin Wallace, Rice, Washington; his granddaughter Danielle K. Manning of St. Joseph, MO ; his brother, Marcus (Glenda) Nelson; 3 sisters: Pat (Terry) Matta, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kay McMillan, Stanberry, Missouri, and Sharon (Dale) Nelson, Springfield, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Nelson has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri. His inurnment will be at a later date in the Weathermon Cemetery, Guilford, Missouri.

O'Riley, Lila May Clements - Jul 24, 1932 - Jan 15, 2020 - Lila M. Clements O’Riley, 87, of Maryville, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville.
Lila was born on July 24, 1932 in Whitesville, Missouri to Clell and Helen E. (Weathermon) Clements. She was a 1950 graduate of Pickering High School and attended one year at Gard Business College in St. Joseph. She was a billing clerk for Wyeth Warehouse & Wholesale Company. While attending college she was a Nanny for the Bradley family of St. Joseph. Lila was a member of the Pickering Methodist Church.
She married John L. O’Riley on March 16, 1989. He preceded her in death on August 23, 1997. She was also preceded by her parents and two sisters, Belvadene Wiley and Sue Waldeier, niece Staci McEnaney and great nephew Bradie Clements.
Survivors include her brother and sisters, Cleota (Gerald) Shell, St. Joseph, Missouri, Jule (Louise) Clements, Maryville, Russell (Mary Kay) Clements, Maryville, Ruth Anna (Marvin) Florea, Maryville, Donald (Dorothy) Clements, Hopkins, Richard Clements, Pickering and Sherrie (Danny) McEnaney, Conception Jct., Missouri, two brothers-in-law, Marvin Wiley, Maryville and Larry Waldeier, Kansas City, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pierce, Dolores "Picki" Ann Pickthorne - Dolores (Picki) Pierce, 90, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed away at The Willows in Lexington, KY peacefully on Tuesday, April 7th, surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 9, 1930 in North Little Rock, AR the daughter of Edwin and Clara (Stainer) Pickthorne. Following graduation from high school she spent one year attending Phillips University, Enid, OK before transferring to the University of Missouri to major in Journalism. It was at the University of Missouri that she met her husband, John W. Pierce. They were married in Columbia, Missouri on September 21, 1952 and moved to Maryville.
While living in Maryville, she was active in many community organizations, generously serving with a caring and loving demeanor. She served as chairman for the March of Dimes, State officer with the Missouri PTA for nine years and editor of the Missouri Parent Teacher publication. Served two terms on the Nodaway County School Board of Education, Board member and Elder, First Christian Church; Chairman, Experiment in International Living Projects Committee (community foreign exchange program), and Chairman of the Region 1 Task Force, a nine-county volunteer force for the prevention of youth delinquency Lastly, she started a chapter of Prison Fellowship Ministry, a Christian nonprofit organization for prisoners, former prisoners, and their families at the Maryville Treatment Center. She always enjoyed starting new projects and letting others take over and giving them credit.
While in Kentucky, she was an active member at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Lawrenceburg, KY where she was elder, member of the outreach program, Christian women’s group and Christmas in July program, providing new school clothes for underprivileged children. She had an undeniable faith and witnessed that faith to the many lives she touched. She always had a glowing smile, loved her church and her family. Picki loved spending time in her yard raising both flower and vegetable gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband John W. Pierce, and son James Edwin Pierce. Survivors include children, Scott (Deborah) Pierce Lexington, KY; Stuart (Sandi) Pierce, Lawrenceburg; KY John Pierce, Taipei, Taiwan and daughter: Barbara Pierce, Lexington, KY. Nine grandchildren; Stephanie Pierce, Shawnee, KS, Jennifer Pierce, Desoto, KS, Riley (Bailey) Pierce, Welington, Florida, Rhett Pierce, Desoto, KS, Brianna Pierce, Danville, KY, Cecilia (Travis) Votaw, Grayson, KY, Drew Pierce, Lawrenceburg, KY, Vivian Pierce and Audra Pierce, Lexington, KY three great-grandchildren and a sister Linda Fletcher, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Piveral, David Scott - David Scott Piveral, 33, of Hopkins, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident.
David was born on March 19, 1987 in Maryville, Missouri to Michael and Sharon (Simpson) Piveral. He was a graduate of North Nodaway High School and worked for AG Power in Maryville and was a team member of the 141 Union Township Rescue Squad and Union Township Fire Department.
He married Tiffany E. Lear on June 13, 2009 in Oregon, Missouri at Paradise Park, she survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Tyler, Kaitlyn and Logan; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Melanie and Darryl Lear; sister-in-law, Shanda Roach; his parents, Michael and Sharon Piveral; brother, Michael (Maria) Piveral; sister, Rebecca (Nick) Ebrecht; paternal grandmother, Virginia Piveral; and numerous nieces, nephews and godparents to his children, Jared and Jessie Germann.
He was preceded in death by his paternal-grandfather, Robert Piveral, Aunt and Uncle, Jess Leroy and Cheryl Piveral, Aunt, Pam Piveral, Aunt Cheryl Pierson, cousin, Brenda Bohem, uncle Robert Simpson; maternal grandmother, Diana Meyer and a sister, Sharon Snuffer.

Sharon Kay Poppa, 71, of Maryville, MO passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at her residence in Maryville. She passed surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born September 21, 1948 in Omaha, NE. Her parents were Harold and Betty Lou (Rahe) Schluter. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Alan and Rick Schluter, her sister Gloria Lowrance, and 2 grandchildren, Austin and Aiden Poppa.
Sharon was of the Christian faith.
Sharon lived most of her life in Pickering and Maryville. She attended high school in Hopkins, MO.
Sharon enjoyed making crafts of all kinds. She made dolls. She also enjoyed painting, crocheting and making ceramics. Sharon enjoyed going to craft shows.
On January 1, 1966 in Maryville, MO she married Terry Dale Poppa. He survives of the home.
Her survivors included her five children; Terrilynn (Rick) Wilson of Maryville, Sherri (LeRoy) Williams of Maryville, Melissa Poppa of Syracuse, Ne, Matthew (Nicole) Poppa of Maryville, and Kirk (fiance’ Alyssa Carmichael) of Maryville, also three brothers Bill, Keith, and Doug Schluter, as well as 15 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray, Dale D. - Dale D. Ray, 65, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Mosaic Medical Center in Maryville.
Dale was born on January 7, 1955 in Maryville, Missouri to George and Edna (Farquhar) Ray. He was a mechanic and musician.
He married Barbara Nelson on July 20, 1980 in Maryville, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include, two sons, Cary (Angela) Ray, Perryville, Missouri, Christopher Ray, Sheridan, Missouri; daughter, Sarabeth (Joe) Makings, Maryville, Missouri; six grandchildren and two sisters, Dixie Ray and Marie Palmer both of Maryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Daisy Mayes and brother, James Ray.

Wanda was born on December 29, 1933 in Burlington Junction, Missouri to Lyman and Pauline (Trosper) McIntyre. She was a graduate of the Burlington Junction High School. She was a farmer, homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church of Burlington Junction.
She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, working in her yard, gardening and her flowers. She liked wind chimes and working jigsaw puzzles.
She married Vernon D. Reed, Sr. on November 14, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1980. She was also preceded by her parents and two sons, Kerry and Kevin Reed.
Survivors include her children, Vernon (Debra) Reed, Jr., and Kaylene Steffey both Burlington Junction, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jesse (Roxanne) Reed, Dustin (Stephanie) Reed, Ashley Reed, Matthew Steffey, Austin Steffey, Kayanna Steffey and Kyla Steffey and three great-grandchildren, Reese Reed, Charlie Reed and Sophie Reed.

Riddle, Diane Marie Tilley - Diane Marie (Tilley) Riddle passed away at her home in Clearmont MO., on February 13, 2020, after a fight with cancer. Diane was born on November 16, 1946, in Boone, Ia., to Gerald and Wanda (Burnett) Tilley. On February 10, 1966, she married Richard Riddle. The Riddles moved to Clearmont, Mo. in 1979. Diane loved farm life so much that she had her house backward, so she could sit and look at her cows. She retired from NSK after 25 plus years. Diane loved her family more than anything. Roach, Billy D. - Maryville, Missouri - Billy D. Roach, 71, of Maryville died early Sunday morning March 8, 2020, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife Karyn of 52 years. They married on November 2, 1967 in Maryville; two daughters, Shelley Roach of Olathe, Kansas and Amy Skinner of Spring Hill, Kansas; one brother, James of Maryville and three sisters, Julia of Colorado, and Deb and Cordelia of Iowa; three grandchildren and one great-grandson as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death one sister, Marilyn, two brothers, Richard and John and his parents Porter and Frances Roach.
He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He drove the gas truck for Dempsey-Harden for 30 years, before retiring he worked briefly for Walmart and Kawasaki.

Rose was born on May 5, 1918 in Hopkins, Missouri to Ula and Inez Morehouse. She was a wife, mother and cook for the Pickering School and a member of the Xenia Club.
She married Harold A. Robbins on March 7, 1935. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1988. She was also preceded by her son, Warren Dean Robbins, grandson, Mark Bollinger and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Bollinger, Marshalltown, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nancy Talbott, Glen Robbins, Brenda Cochran, Todd Bollinger; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Hinton and Betty Engle
She was and is a beautiful lady of laughter and dance, of courage and wisdom, and a mother of love.

Robertson, Phyllis D. Gardner - Phyllis Robertson, 88, formerly of Maryville, MO, passed away Sunday, April 26 at the Osage Beach, MO Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility. Phyllis was born in McFall, MO on July 16, 1931, to Lester and Agnes Gardner. She graduated from McFall High School and received a Bachelor of Science and a master’s in education from NWMSU. Phyllis taught fifth grade at St. Gregory Catholic School and finished her career teaching art at Eugene Field Elementary School in Maryville. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Maryville, MO, and a founding member of the Modern Managers Extension Club.
Phyllis married Donald Robertson on August 27th, 1950, who preceded her in death in 2008. Her parents along with her brother, Donald Gardner also predeceased her. Survivors include her children, Danny (Debra) Robertson of Clarinda, IA, Regina Robertson of Charlotte NC, and Kim (Dale) Chenoweth of Climax Springs near the Lake of the Ozarks, where Phyllis was residing. Also, surviving are her sister, Peggy Sperry of Jamesport, MO and her grandchildren: Joel Robertson, Jennifer Kearney, Joshua Robertson, Jordan Hicks, Jared Robertson, Johnas Perkins, Leigh Chenoweth Uhe and Chet Chenoweth. Phyllis was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren.

Rodrick, Bonnie Jean Foster - Bonnie Jean Rodrick, 81, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Parkdale Manor.
Bonnie was born on January 24, 1939 in North Platte, Nebraska to Jesse D. and Opal Marie (Yearsley) Foster. She was a 1958 graduate of the Pickering High School and was a homemaker, caregiver and a member of the Temple Baptist Church.
She married Elbert F. “Skip” Rodrick on August 29, 1992. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2005. She was also preceded by her parents, sister, Tessie Foster and a daughter, Cissy Christian.
Survivors include her children, Travis Roderick, Brian Roderick, Renita King, Rodney Thompson, Jack Thompson; three step-daughters, Cecilia Rodrick, Lila Marie Rodrick and Patty Affolter; twenty-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Janet Lachet (Vandewater) Rosenbohm, 82, Graham, MO passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 9, 2020.
Janet was born October 29, 1937 on the family farm in rural Dexter, IA to Lloyd & Erma (Norris) Vandewater.
She attended Harrison #5 Adair County "Center" School through 8th grade, occasionally riding her horse. She graduated from Greenfield (IA) High School in 1956.
Then she attended NWMSU where she met Larry, the love of her life.
On October 12, 1958, Janet married Larry L. Rosenbohm at the Fairview Christian Church in rural Stuart, IA. They celebrated their 61st anniversary in 2019.
Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. Being a true farm wife, she took great pride in cooking for her "crew" and was always willing to help where needed, whether it be doing chores, driving a tractor, hauling grain or providing "meals on wheels" to the field during busy times. In her spare time, Janet enjoyed horseback riding, taking pictures, roller-skating, traveling, creating the Graham Street Fair book for many years, playing countless games with the grand-kids and great-grands and being the "pig" greeter at the Nodaway County Farm-City banquets.
Janet was an active member of the Graham United Methodist Church, Graham Progressive Club & Graham Street Fair Board. She also served as a long-time 4-H leader, on the Senior Citizen Tax Board, was named Nodaway County Outstanding Farm Woman of the Year in 1982, and Grand Marshal of the Graham Street Fair.

Janet is survived by; her husband, Larry of the home; three sons: Kevin (Michele), Mike (Marsha) and Dan (Kathy) all of Graham. Five grandchildren: Matt (Kylie) Bolckow, MO; Nick (Glenda) Graham, MO; Marc (fiancé, Lacey) Columbia, MO; Megan, Graham, MO; and Cory (fiancé, Brianna) Lenexa, KS. Three great-granddaughters: Lila, Ellie and Maddison. One brother: Larry Joe (Jean) Vandewater, Greenfield, IA. Family was everything.

Rowlette, Robert O. - Dr. Robert O. Rowlette, 89, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in Kansas City, MO.
Bob was born on the family farm, northwest of Maitland, MO, on July 11, 1930 to Susan and Lloyd Rowlett. He graduated as valedictorian from Maitland High School in 1948. After attending his freshman year at McPherson College, he transferred to Northwest Missouri State University and graduated in 1952 with a degree in English. He joined the Air Force as a cadet and served during the Korean War.
In 1955, Bob married Annie Lou Cowan at the Presbyterian Church in Maitland, MO.
He continued his education at the University of Colorado receiving a Master of Arts in American Literature in 1957. He received a PhD from the University of Kansas in American Literature with a concentration on American humorists, especially the writings of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain).
Bob accepted a three-year appointment at the University of Cincinnati where he discovered his love of teaching. He continued his teaching career at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN where he was voted most popular professor and received two promotions in his first year. He also taught at Kansas University, Pace University in Pleasantville, NY, and Northwest Missouri State University. Besides teaching, he authored many articles published in varied academic journals in addition to his book relating to interpretations of Twain’s Pudd’nhead Wilson.
A member of the First Presbyterian Church in Maryville, MO, Bob served on the Board of Trustees and a term as church Treasurer. He was an avid reader, dedicated runner and sports enthusiast - particularly for the Missouri Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals. He also had a love and deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the adventure of travel.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Elam. Survivors include his wife Dr. Ann Rowlette of 64 years; three daughters, Cretia (Scott) Meier, Sterling, VA, Kristen (Rob) St. Thomas, and Nicole Rowlette, Kansas City, MO; grandsons Luca and Nico St. Thomas; sister, Marjorie Lisbona, Kansas City, KS; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will include a visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Thursday, March 19 at Price Funeral Home, Maryville. A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM at the Maitland Cemetery in Maitland, MO followed by a luncheon at the American Legion, also in Maitland

Schieber, Vincent Aloysius -
Vincent Aloysius Schieber, 62, of Maryville MO passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, the 14th of March 2020 at his home in Maryville. Vincent was born in Maryville MO on the 24th of February 1958 to Leo A. and Eulalia (Merrigan) Schieber and was raised on the Schieber family farm in Conception MO. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Conception Junction MO and later earned a B.S. In Agriculture from Northwest Missouri State University. He was a loyal and hard-working employee of Energizer for over 35 years until the plant closed; he then transitioned to working at Michael's Foods in Iowa until he was fortunate enough to find employment at Federal Mogul in Maryville. He was united in marriage to Jeannie Marie Protzman at St. Gregory's Catholic Church on the 29th August 1980 and was ready to celebrate 40 years of marriage this summer with their four children.
Vincent loved to go hunting, especially during deer season, because he loved being outdoors. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals and Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats. He enjoyed playing cards at family gatherings. Vincent didn't know any strangers and loved being out and about in the community socializing and helping others. He himself never asked for help and never kept a tally of his generous deeds. He never spoke badly of others. He was a loving husband and doting father.
He is very missed by those who survive him: his wife Jeannie Schieber of Maryville MO, son Aaron Schieber (Catie Burghart) of Omaha NE, daughter Amanda (Glenn) Korbeck of Columbia MO, Danielle Schieber of Columbia MO, and Kimberly (Seth) Sandau of Maryville MO. His two grandchildren Meriam Schieber and Jenson Sandau are devastated by his passing. He was proceeded in death by his father Leo A. Schieber, was a caring son of his mother Eulalia Schieber (Maryville MO) and loving brother to siblings Marilyn (Kenny) Wilmes, Kevin (Martha) Schieber, Ellen (Greg) Carter, David (Linda) Schieber, Doug (Colleen) Schieber, Keith (Alison) Schieber and Carla (Shannon) Sadler by whom he was blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Vincent will be cremated. Services will be determined later due to the COVID19 pandemic. Jerry Conner Scott, age 77, Maryville, MO, passed away peacefully in Maryville, on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
He was born July 31, 1942 in Gilman City, MO, to the late Woodrow and Rozema Scott. He is preceded in death by brothers and sister William Scott, Betty Scott Simmons, and Jack Scott, and in-laws Lawrence and Norma Hilsabeck, Larry Hilsabeck, Everett Simmons, and Lawrence Taylor.
Jerry attended South Harrison High School in Bethany and graduated in 1960. He was the school’s star athlete during his high school years. He played basketball, was a football captain and Homecoming king.
After high school, Jerry married and moved to Maryville where his son Todd was raised. He attended NWMSU while beginning his work career.
Jerry worked for Crouch Trucking following high school. He next began his venture into the grocery industry and worked several years at Eddy’s Market before taking the plunge and buying his own grocery store. He was owner of Jerry’s Market from 1979 to 1989. When he sold the store, he continued his career in food service as a private caterer as well as the deli manager at HyVee. Jerry was happiest when he was cooking!
In his retirement years, he enjoyed driving the OATS bus and driving to pick up cars with his buddies at Championship Motors.
In 1981, he met Linda Hilsabeck. They married on July 31,1982 and he became a 2nd dad to Linda’s son Eric Myers. Jerry loved his two boys and they have many great memories of fishing, sports, motorcycles and cars, cooking, and family trips with their dad. These traditions were passed down to his grandchildren Logan, Bryan, and Ava and good times were spent with Grandpa Jerry through the years.
Linda was the love of Jerry’s life and they spent many years enjoying special times with friends and neighbors, cruises, vacations, loving their many Shitzu dog children, and taking family trips with their kids and grandkids.
Linda and Jerry faced Jerry’s medical battles together in his last years. She was his rock, his advocate, and was always by his side through it all. They also have a great network of friends and family who helped them get through tough times and are much loved and appreciated.
Survivors include his wife Linda J. Scott, son Todd (Valerie) of Dallas, son Eric Myers of Omaha; grandsons Logan and Bryan Scott of Fayetteville, AR, granddaughter Ava Myers of Omaha, sister Doris Taylor, in laws Jack and Vetra Hilsabeck and Elaine Hilsabeck, and Bandit the dog

Seipel, Billie Jo - Billie Jo Seipel, 60, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Billie was born on September 16, 1959 in Maryville, Missouri to Paul E. and Virginia M. (Muller) Seipel. She attended High School in Maryville and was a CNA and had worked for Maryville Living Center and she enjoyed being involved in Foster Animal Care.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Seipel, brother, Robert P. Seipel, nephew, Steven Seipel, sister-in-law, Connie Seipel and brother-in-law, Kenny Wallace.
She is survived by her companion of 30 years “Bo” Scott and his daughter, Shawna (T.J.) Hendren both of Maryville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kyawna, Taveon and Emalyn; her father, Paul E. Seipel, Maryville, Missouri; three sisters, Judy (Gary) Tibbetts, Burlington Junction, Missouri, Betty (Andy) Wilmes, Collinsville, Oklahoma, Kathy Wallace, Maryville, Missouri and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and her beloved yorkie “UNO”.

Seipel, Maryle Barbara Mannschreck - Maryle Barbara Seipel, 92, passed away June 12, 2020 at her home in Maryville, Missouri.
She was born to John F. Mannschreck and Opal (Foster) Mannschreck August 31, 1927. A graduate of Maryville High School, Class of 1945, she was a homemaker, a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, several Guilds and a Red Cross Volunteer.
Maryle and Hubert Seipel were united in marriage February 14, 1947, at St. Patrick's Church, Maryville. They are the parents of six children: Sandra (Dave) Rasmussen, David (Rebecca) Seipel, Nanette (Randy) Calhoun, Sally (Larry) Sullentrup, Doug (Diana) Seipel; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Maryle in death were her parents and son, John M. Seipel and one brother John W. Mannschreck.
A Parish Rosary will be held 6:00pm Monday at St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church with visitation following.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 AM Tuesday, also St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church. Burial will follow the services at St. Mary's Cemetery, Maryville. Due to Covid-19 social distancing protocol will be followed. All are welcome

Shelton, Deloris Hilsabeck - Deloris Shelton, 93, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Parkdale Manor.
Deloris was born on March 4, 1926 in Barnard, Missouri to Ivan and Jessie (Wohlford) Hilsabeck. She was a graduate of the Barnard High School and had worked for Dr. Landfather’s office, Townsend Grocery and Bakers Dry Goods.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers, Courtney, Ivelle, Edwin, Alan and Gary Hilsabeck.
She married Billy F. Shelton on March 20, 1949 in Maryville, Missouri. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include their son, Mark Shelton, Maryville, Missouri.

Shirley Maxine (Froyd) Sherry, 85, of Maryville, Missouri, passed away on June 15, 2020, at the Village Care Center in Maryville.
She was born on June 13, 1935, to the late Leonard and Thelma (Jensen) Froyd.
Shirley was united in marriage on June 24, 1953, to Cleo Wesley Sherry, at the Reorganized Church of Latter-Day Saints, in Bedison, Missouri.
She graduated from NWMSU in 1972 with a teaching degree while raising 4 small children. Shirley retired in 1993 after 23 years as a kindergarten teacher at Nodaway-Holt School in Maitland, Missouri.
Preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Melissa Ann Sherry on October 14, 1961, her daughter, Carol Jean Sherry, on April 12, 1998, her husband, Cleo Wesley Sherry on June 24, 2018, and her brother, Gary Froyd.
Survivors include three children: Debbie (Nick) Lopez, Golden, Colorado, Dave (Rhonda) Sherry, Maryville, Missouri, and Pam (Dave) Winterscheidt, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, 10 grand children and 3 great grandchildren.
Graveside services and burial will be at 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, Missouri

Lavon E. Smail, 85, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.
Lavon was born in Maitland, MO, on June 11, 1934, to Earl Richard and Minnie Ruth (Adams) Archer. They preceded her in death.
She graduated from Maitland, MO high school, and had attended classes at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.
On September 30, 1951, Lavon was united in marriage to Leslie Eugene Smail, in Maitland, MO. They had lived in North Carolina, at Camp LeJeune, also in Emporia, KS, Macon, MO, Chillicothe, MO, and then many years in Maryville.
Lavon liked to write poetry; she enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and playing cards. She had been an inspector at the former Pope & Talbot Diaper Factory; she was an agent for New York Life, had sold Avon, and spent many years taking care of children at her home. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, all of Mayville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Les, in 2016; and by 2 brothers, Leon and Lavern (Coke) Archer; and 2 sisters, Ruth Kooken, and Polly Hosfiel.
She is survived by her 5 children, Dave (Deb) Smail, Paola, KS, Mike (Margaret) Smail, Maryville, MO, Rick (Sheila) Smail, Maryville, MO, Kim (Scott) Shamberger, Maryville, MO, and Stephanie Harkrider, Maryville, MO; her sister, Mary Dow, Mesa, AZ; 16 grandchildren, 29, great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joanne was born on December 23, 1974, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to parents James Elliott and Joyce Ann (McIntyre) Smith. She was a life-long resident of the area.
She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, MO, and had attended Northwest Missouri State University.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Maryville.
Joanne was an avid reader. She loved her dogs; and loved “Build A Bear”. She was also a people person.
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Joyce of Maryville, her fiancé, Brian Irwin, Maryville, brother, Jeffrey Smith, Maryville, sister Jamie (Bryce) Buholt, Maryville; nieces and nephews, Ashley (Beau) Hillyard, Alexis Marie Smith, Andaya, Mylee, Racyn, Kruse Backman

Frederick John Von Behren, 73, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home with family at his side.
Fred was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on August 14, 1946. His parents were John and Shirley (Easterly) Von Behren; and preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his brother, Rick Von Behren.
He grew up in the Cedar Rapids area; and graduated from Anamosa High School in 1964.
Fred started in the grocery business at Eagle Foods in 1966, and then started at the Hy-Vee Food Stores in 1969. He was the Store Director in Albany, MO from 1983-89, And Store Director in Maryville from 1989 until his retirement in 2000.
He served his country in Iowa Army National Guard.
He loved his family; and loved to garden. He was an avid Coke product collector; and absolutely loved all things NW Bearcats, and Saturday afternoon football games.
Fred’s faith was important to him and he was a member and attended the Laura Street Baptist Church. He and Sandi were active at the church with the Sunday School and also serving the Wednesday night meals; he was a member of the Maryville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; member and past president of Rotary International; a former member of the Optimist Club; and a member of 10 Squared Men, all of Maryville.
On October 3, 1965, He was united in married to Sandra Sue Wink, in Monticello, IA; she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his children, Scott (Jennifer) Von Behren, Belton, MO, Jeff (Krista) Von Behren, Maryville, MO, and Suzanne Von Behren, Maryville, MO; 4 grandchildren, Alexis (Ryan) Carver, and Madison and Mollie Von Behren, and Colin Arnold; 1 great grandchild, Damian Carver; 2 sisters, Cheryl Von Behren, Des Moines, IA, and Marilyn (Steve) Moehlmann, Elkhart, IA, and brother, Ken (Raven) Von Behren, Bellvue, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred has been cremated under the direction of the Bram Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
Fred always put others interest ahead of his own, as such, he would not want to risk others health with the Covid-19 virus and public health risks and therefore chose to forgo formal services

Phyllis Jean “Sam” Willhoyte, 92, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Monday, February 17, 2020, at the Maryville Living Center, her family at her side.
Sam was born in Maryville on August 15, 1927; and was a life-long resident of the area. She had lived for a time in Wilcox, MO.
Her parents were William John “Bill” and Elizabeth (Strauch) Dempsey, and they preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Douglas Dempsey, Agnes Booth, Marjorie Rhodes, and Beverly Hutson.
She was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. Sam went to grade school in Wilcox, and then graduated from Horace Mann High School, Maryville.
For 25 years Sam was the Polk Township Collector for Nodaway County, Missouri.
Sam liked to be around people and to visit; and loved playing cards.
On September 22, 1951, at the First United Methodist Church in Maryville, Sam and Jack Newman Willhoyte were united in marriage by Rev. Monk Bryan. He survives of the home.
She is also survived by her children, Debra Jean Parman, Maryville, and Pamela Jean (Pat) Nelson, Maryville. 3 grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Wilson, Matthew Blake (Megan) Nelson, and Sarah Jacqueline (Brice) Freeman; 2 great grandchildren, Levon Dean Nelson, and Blakely Jean Freeman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. The burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery, also of Maryville.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Wolfe, George A., son of Joseph and Matilda Wolfe, was born January 12, 1860 in Stark County, Illinois, and departed from this life Sunday, Sept 15, 1929 in St Joseph Hospital at St Joseph, Mo., at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 3 days. His boyhood days were spent where he was born. On January 13, 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie E. Malone of Camp Grove, Ill. To this union was born four children: John F. of Clearmont, Mo.; Mrs E.E. Moore of Loveland, Colo.; Eldon A. of Harrisonville, Mo.; Harry M. of Graham, Mo.
Mr Wolfe was the third child in a family of four children, all of whom are living, Mrs Mary E. Smith of Colony, Kans., Albert A. and William Wolfe of Clearmont, Mo. His father and mother preceded him in death, his father dying in the year 1892 and his mother passed away in 1910.
In the year 1883, he and his wife moved to Missouri, settling on a farm four miles northeast of Clearmont, Mo., where they resided for 19 years, later moving to Braddyville, Iowa, where they resided for 17 years. In 1920 they moved to Harrisonville, Mo. For the past two years their home has been at Graham, Mo. Mr Wolfe was a devoted husband and father and a true friend to all, one who was always interested in community life and in every thing that was for the betterment of those among whom he lived.
Early in life he made a confession of faith, uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church at Braddyville of which church he was a member at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Masonic order, the Odd Fellows and Modern Woodman of America.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, besides his sister and two brothers and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from the Braddyville Methodist church, by Rev C.F. Smith, M.E. minister from New Market and Rev Manning Rose, Christian minister from Clearmont. Music was furnished by the Braddyville male quartet, who are Paul Stickelman, Max Garrett, Irwin Wilson and Mose Burch accompanied at the piano by Mrs Paul Stickelman. Flowers bearers were Mrs Tom Reed of Braddyville, Mrs Will Russell of St Joseph, Mrs Will Humphrey and Mrs Byron Sowers of Clearmont. Pallbearers were Will Williams, Dr R.A. Sheila was born on October 11, 1963 in Maryville, Missouri to Melvin G. and Vada M. (Drydale) Wooten. She was a graduate of Maryville High School and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Colleen Wooten.

Wynn, Sharon Sue Wagner - Sharon Sue Wynn, 80, of Burlington Junction, Missouri passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 after a brief stay at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, Missouri.
Sharon was born on May 28, 1939 in Rock Port, MO to Orval O. (Johnston) Wagner and Gladys M. (Langfelt) Wagner. Her father was killed in action in World War II. Her mother married Bob Maxwell, and the family moved to Torrington, Wyoming where Sharon graduated from High School. She got a scholarship and graduated from beauty school. She returned to Missouri, attended Northwest Missouri State University, then opened a beauty salon in Fairfax, MO. She married Ben Wynn. They farmed and operated Wynn Bros. Trucking, in Burlington Jct., MO. She opened Gala Beauty Salon and Wynn-D-Hill Beauty Salon in Burlington Jct. Sharon retired from her beautician career and became a commodities stockbroker working for Ed Cole Commodities in Maryville, MO. In 1989, she moved to Alaska and became a cook at a bar/restaurant in Wasilla. There she developed a love of cooking and retuned to Nodaway County. In 2001 she opened Third Street Diner in Maryville, MO. In 2006, she opened Kiss My Grits Kafe’ in Burlington Jct. She was the owner and operator of that popular diner and got to share the results of her love of cooking with her community until she was 79 years old, when she fell ill with cancer.
Sharon’s greatest joys in life were raising her three children, her grandchildren, giving back to her community, having and being a good friend, dancing, cooking, and taking care of the many, many animals she adopted throughout her life. While her children were growing up, she was a member of the Community Betterment organization in Burlington Jct. and was instrumental in upgrading and expanding the baseball and tennis park there, as well as getting a housing development built for senior citizens where she served on the board. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Burlington Jct.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, step-fathers Bob Maxwell, Ray Robertson and infant brother, Gary. Survivors include her husband Ben Wynn; three children, J. Benny (Paula) Wynn, Jody (B. Walker) Wynn, and Jamey Wynn; eight grandchildren, Nickolas (Shaye) Wynn, Heather (Devan) Baur, Sarah Beth Wynn, Sharese Yount, Shaylee Yount, Emalee Wynn, Jaylee Wynn, and Ryder Wynn; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11am Saturday, February 8th at the Burlington Jct. Christian Church under the direction of Price Funeral Home. The family will receive guests at the church at 10am. Burial immediately following the services will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Rockport, MO

Zech, Shirley Jean Sears -
Shirley Jean Zech, 85, of Maryville, Missouri, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at her home, with family at her side.
Shirley was born in Maryville, on October 3, 1934. Her parents were Dr. Kirtley J. and Vivian (Buhler) Sears.
She grew up in Maryville and graduated from Maryville High School in 1952. She also attended Northwest Missouri State Teacher College.
On October 3, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to John Joseph Zech, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri. Other than a few years she and John spent in Kansas and California in the US Navy, she was a lifelong resident of the area.
Shirley was a member and attended St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. She enjoyed spending time with the Lasher Community Club. She played golf for many years and was a member of the Maryville Country Club, and played in tournaments in the area. She and John traveled and spent many winters in Arizona. She was an avid and tireless shopper.
Shirley supported her kids, grandkids and great grandkids sporting events, and her life was her children. She had a big garden and did a lot of canning. She helped John on the farm and could handle the tractor and the grain truck.
Her Dad was a Veterinarian and she loved animals. She would do her best to nurse the sick and injured baby farm animals back to health. She even once coaxed her horse, Billy into the upstairs of their house. Her children remember her quick wit and left them with many of her humerous quotes.
Her parents preceded her in death, as well as her siblings: Buhler Sears, Dick Sears, Ann Kieser, and Bill Sears; and her 3 daughter in laws and son in law: Rachelle Zech, Shawna Zech, John Clausen, and Lee Ann Zech.
Her survivors include her husband, John Zech, of the home; 8 children: Patti (Mike) Hutt, Mike (Lori) Zech, Phil (Debbie) Zech, Cindy Clausen, Ron (Rita) Zech, Jerry Zech, Linda (Lonny) Owens, and Sam (Greg Connally) Zech; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, Missouri. The burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville. The funeral Mass will be live streamed via stgregorysmaryville.org
Parish and family Rosary at 5:30 PM, at the St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, with a visitation to follow from 6-8:00 PM.
