Billie Jean Anderson, 74, Graham, MO passed away August 9, 2018 at the Parkdale Manor in Maryville, MO. Billie was born June 19, 1944 to parents Billy and Roberta Logan.

Billie was united in marriage to Roger Anderson on July 1, 1967 at the Graham Methodist Church. He survives of the home.

Billie was a graduate of Graham High School and NWMSU in Maryville, with a BS in Elementary education and a minor in Library Science. She taught school for over 30 years.  She enjoyed her garden and liked to can and cook. She loved Black Friday shopping, going grocery shopping, attending the grandkids ballgames and school programs.

Preceding her in death include: Her parents, Billy and Roberta Logan; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol Alloway and brother-in-law Bill Alloway; Nephew, Mitchell Bare, and brother-in-law, Carl Anderson.

Survivors include: Her husband, Roger Anderson of the home; three children; Julie (David) Atkins of Ravenwood, MO; Cory (Jennifer) Anderson of Graham, MO; and Mark (Kara) Anderson of St. Joseph, MO; sister, Maryanne Bare of Mound City, MO and brother, David Laurence (Sharon) Logan of Fillmore, MO; Five Grandchildren: Chase Atkins, Jaden Atkins, Delanie Anderson, Tyce Anderson, and Kennedy Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph E. Auten, 81, of Maryville, MO passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Joseph was born September 21, 1936 near Worth, MO.  His parents were George E. and Della (Deen) Auten.  They preceded him in death.  He was also preceded by his son, Ronnie Auten, his brother, Duane Auten, 2 sisters, Dorothy Vinzant and Ruby Vinzant, step granddaughter, Carissa Shafer, 2 brothers in law, Jerry Sportsman, and Roy F. Park, and niece, Linda White.

Joe spent his youth in Worth, then had resided in Fillmore, MO, Barnard, MO, and in Maryville since 1978.  He was of the Methodist faith.

He loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He had bowled for many years in different leagues.  He was a hunter and liked being outdoors; and had been a wood worker.

Joe did road construction with Ideker Construction, he also worked at LP Gas, and was a self employed plumber.  He recently retired from the First United Methodist Church, after 21 years as the custodian.

On October 18, 1984, Joe was united to Beverly C. (Park), Blauvelt at the Salem Christian Church, Pumpkin Center, MO.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Deb McKee, Oskaloosa, IA, Terry (Tom) Hoselton, Kidder, MO; 3 step children, Kirby Blauvelt, Linn, MO, Debbie (Curtis) Lawson, Maryville, MO, and Lori (Ronald) Schafer, Skidmore, MO; 3 brothers, George (Karen) Auten, Barnard, MO, Gene Auten, Maryville, MO, and Jim (Ladonna) Auten, Conception Junction, MO; 2 sisters, Nelly Dunblazier, Des Moines, IA, and Ina Sportsman, Maryville, MO; 7 grandchildren, 8 Step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Baumli, James Anthony - James A. Baumli, 65, of Maryville, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at his home.

James was born on July 17, 1952 in Maryville, Missouri to John and Mary (Anderson) Baumli.

He was a 1971 graduate of Maryville High School and attended Northwest Technical School. He was a maintenance mechanic for Federal Mogual until his retirement. James enjoyed dirt track racing, restoring old tractors, cars and being a hobby farmer.

James was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Cynthia Baumli.

He married Linda Ann Newsom on October 7, 2006 in Gardner, Kansas. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include, son, James (Jena) Baumli, Lathrop, Missouri; two half-brothers of J.J., Steven and Russell Judd three step-children, Jimmy (Niki) Deason, Perry, Kansas, Christy (Jacob) Derr, Paola, Kansas and Kelly (Mike) Cordray, Gardner, Kansas; three brothers, John (Loretta) Baumli, Maryville, Missouri, Steven (Lori) Baumli, Lincoln, Nebraska and Daniel Baumli, Claycomo, Missouri; sister, Susan Hane, Kansas City, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Jenna and Hailee Baumli, Skyler Heitman, Brianna Foster, Corey (Samantha) West, Alexis and Jacob Derr, Syler, Iylie, and Jaydi Deason, Vega, Meila, and Fisher Cordray; great-grandson, Finn West and several nieces and nephews.

Bears, Virginia Lea Turner - Virginia L. “Ginger” Bears, 54, of Clearmont, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at her home.

Ginger was born on April 25, 1964 in Fresno, California to Lewis C. Turner and Sharron K. (Higgs) Hood.

She was a homemaker and graduate of Nodaway Holt High School and Missouri Western State University.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She married John A. Bears on October 19, 2013 in Oregon, Missouri. He survives of the home. Boyer, Inez Nelena Newton - Inez Nelena Boyer, 88, Saint Joseph, Missouri died on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, Missouri.

Inez was born January 25, 1930 in Skidmore, Missouri, to the late Myron and Jessie (Dawson) Newton. Inez was employed as a cook at the State Hospital, St. Joseph.

Preceding in death were her husband Frank, son Jackie Appleman, and 7 brothers and 7 sisters.

Cardinal, Stephen, Brother - Br. Stephen Cardinal, O.S.B. 78 of Conception Abbey passed away on September 11, 2018 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Br.Stephen was born on August 5, 1940 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Joseph Dorigo and Sophie Just Cardinal. He was a graduate of Weehawken Public High School, Weehawken, New Jersey.

He professed as a monk on August 15, 1977. His assignment was apostolate of prayer.

Br. Stephen is survived by his monastic community; two brothers, Anthony Cardinal, Miami, Florida and Fred Cardinal, Marietta, Georgia; two sisters, Juliet Spreen, Boerne, Texas and Barbara Materia, Deerfield, Florida and other family members.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm Friday, September 14th with Vespers of the Dead at 7:15pm at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri.

Carroll, Ronald Dean - Ronald Dean Carroll, 62, Maysville, Missouri, Passed away September 10, 2018. Ron was born October 11, 1955 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Curtis and Arlene Carroll.

Ron was a graduate of Nodaway Holt High School and a contruction worker.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Virgil and nephews Jonathan and Jeremy Carroll.

Clayton, Charlene Mae Durkes - Charlene Mae Clayton, 66, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Nodaway Nursing Home.

Melissa Jane (Force) Cronk, 47, of Pickering, MO, and formerly of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly at SSM Hospital in Maryville on Sunday, September 16, 2018.

Melissa was born on December 10, 1970, in Jacksonville, NC, to Ronald and Janie A. (Harrington) Force. She had lived most all her life in the Maryville area.

She graduated from Maryville High School and then received her CNA Certificate from NW Technical School, also Maryville. She had worked in nursing at Village Care Center; and had done home health care for SSM for many years. She was of the Christian faith.

Preceding her in death was her father, Ronald Force, and her brother, David Force.

She is survived by her mother and step father, Janie and Larry Harbin, Maryville; her 3 children, Matthew (Brittany) Cronk, Pickering, MO, Christopher (Bailea) Cronk, Burlington Junction, MO, and Emily Davis, Pickering, MO; her sister in law, Jami Force, Kansas City, MO; her step mother, Peggy Force, Grant City, MO, step brother, Russell (Whitney) Hamblen, Houston, TX, 2 step sisters, Kim (Eric) Brooks, Denver, MO, and Michelle Knapp, Maryville, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Demanowski, Rose M. Schoch - Rose M. Demanowski, 92, Grant City, died Tuesday, Jan 17, 1995, at Worth County Convalescent Center, Grant City [Missouri].

Born Aug 26, 1902, in Shannon City, Iowa, to Sam and Julia Smith Schoch, she had worked as a hotel maid.

She married William F. Overholser, who preceded her in death. She married John Demanowski, June 14, 1967, he also preceded her in death.

Ms Demanowski had lived in Creston, Iowa, and Portland, Ore., before coming to the Convalescent Center at Grant City in March 1987.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew Schoch and Jess Schoch.

Survivors include, one daughter, Frances L. Davis of Corning, Iowa; one sister, Sylvia Conley of Creston, Iowa; one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is currently under way at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, at New Hope Cemetery, Hopkins [Missouri].

Dowden, Shirley Jean Wilson - Shirley Jean Wilson Dowden, Jefferson City, Missouri passed away August 24, 2018 at St. Joseph Bluffs, Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born April 2, 1935 in Pickering, Missouri to the late Arthur Eugene and Louretta Hanna Wilson.
She was a graduate of Maryville High School and Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Missouri. Graduate work was also done at the University.
Shirley was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Legion of Mary Auxiliary, Immaculata Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and a past member of Missouri State Teacher’s Association, National Education Association, National Catholic Education Association and the International Reading Association.
For 34 years she was a member of the faculty of Immaculate Conception School in Jefferson City, teaching grade two and later grade one. Prior to that she taught in Kansas City, Maryville and Atlantic, Iowa. After retirement in 2010 she was a volunteer at Immaculate Conception school and served as a member of the tutoring staff with Jefferson City Public Schools.
Survivors include two sons, Paul (Michelle) Dowden, Brentwood, Tennessee and Brian (Carla) Dowden, Jefferson City, six grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Mooney, Grand Prairie, Texas, Nicholas Dowden, Flower Mound, Texas and Shannon Dowden, Brentwood, Tennessee, and Ashley, Abigail and Andrew Dowden, Jefferson City, great-granddaughter Savannah Mooney, and brother Steve (Donna) Wilson, Maryville and her former husband and father of their children, Kenneth Dowden. Her children and grandchildren were the most important part of her life.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Joseph Wilson and sister-in-law Ronda J. Wilson.
Prayer Service will be held at 4:00pm Thursday, August 30, 2018, followed by visitation from 4:30-7:30pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jefferson City, where the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 31st, also at the church.
An additional visitation will be 9:30-10:30am Saturday, September 1, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, followed by burial at 11:00am, White Oak Cemetery, Pickering, Missouri.

W. James Exceen, 81, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, at his home in Maryville from Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born on September 24, 1936 in Hastings, NE, the son of the late Stanley Exceen and Lesta Burkholder Exceen.

He attended high school in Coin Iowa and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Master’s Degree in Industrial Arts.  He taught high school for several years and had also taught at the university in Maryville.  He owned and operated Exceen Signs for over 40 years until his disease forced him to retire.

He married Wanda Hensley on December 5, 1958, sharing 59 years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dencil and Dennis; and sisters, Colleen and Deana.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda, of the home; son, Robert and daughter in law Juanita, of Kansas City, MO; sister, June Miller and husband Bob of Shenandoah, IA; sister in laws, Macel Tuck of Shenandoah, IA, and Janice Hensley of Sidney, IA; and brother in law Wayne Hensley of Riverton, IA.

David Robert Farnan, 61, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at the Maryville Living Center, Maryville.

David was born in Maryville on March 19, 1957 and was a lifelong resident.  His parents were Robert H. Farnan and Alice Louise Wilson Farnan, they preceded him in death.

He graduated from Jefferson C-123 High School, Conception Junction, MO; he was baptized into the Catholic church.

David was an operator for 20+ years for A/C Lightening Protection, Maryville.  He loved to hunt artifacts, and liked westerns and John Wayne.

His survivors include his 3 children, Nick (Amber) Farnan, Glenwood, IA, Mackenzie (Kevin) Funderburg, Maryville, MO, and Zach Farnan, Lees Summit, MO; his 6 siblings, Sandra Farnan, Maryville, Joyce (Mark) Frampton, Arkoe, MO, Sharon (Dave) Luke, Stanberry, MO, Annette Farnan, Maryville, Joe (Robin) Farnan, Hopkins, MO, and Paul (Brenda) Farnan, Maryville; 6 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Farnan has been cremated.

Felton, Will Frank Zachery - Will F. Zachery Felton, 48, of Northglenn, Colorado formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

Will was born on August 30, 1969 in Maryville, Missouri to John H. and Mary K. “Kathi” (Ebbrecht) Felton. He attended Horace Mann Elementary School in Maryville, West Platte High School and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School. He also attended the Kansas City Art Institute. 

He was an alumni of the One Shepherd community and was a Herpetologist. He served in the Missouri National Guard and retired from KCPL Power Plant at Itan, Missouri as an Electrical Engineer in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Felton, paternal grandparents, Austin and Eva-Margaret Felton, maternal grandparents, Frank Ebbrecht and Dorothy Ebbrecht-Merrigan and Raymond Merrigan.

Survivors include his mother, Kathi Felton, St. Joseph, Missouri; daughter, Sarah Felton, Atchison, Kansas, son, Ray Felton, Leavenworth, Kansas, his girlfriend, Dianne Carter of the home; brother, Travis (Janene) Felton, Maitland, Missouri and many extended family members.

Fishell, Winifred Green - Winifred May Green Fishell, 98, Clearmont, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Westridge Quality Care and Rehab in Clarinda, IA.
Winifred was born August 4, 1919 to William H. and Estella Green. She attended and graduated from Clearmont High School in 1936. Winifred married Eldon Lewis (Jake) Fishell in Troy, KS on December 12, 1946. She resided on their farm outside of Clearmont for all of her married life. Winifred especially loved and enjoyed all of her cats and kittens, as well as going to auctions.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her parents William and Estella Green and her brothers Harry and William Green.
Survivors include nephews and nieces, Dennis (Phyllis) Guthrie, Clearmont, MO, Lanny (Kris) Guthrie, Clearmont, MO, Lon (Enid) Guthrie, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France, Richard Guthrie, Excelsior Springs, MO, Larry Fishell, St. Paul, NE, Chere Burch Norman, Corona, NM, Christina (Michael) Gasper, Gibsonia, PA, Dawn Denise (Chris) Malone, Sterling, NE, Bobby Green, Kansas City, MO, Blake (Nyoka) Green, and many great nephews and great nieces.

Flanary, Florence Claire Hollensbe - Florence Claire Flanary, 92, Burlington Junction, Missouri died Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Nodaway Nursing Home.

She was born May 24, 1926 in Pickering, Missouri to Lester and Claire (Hanna) Hollensbe.

Florence was a 1943 graduate of Horace Mann High School, Maryville, Missouri and was a homemaker and co-owner of B.J. Auction House. She also served as Burlington Junction's City Clerk for over thirty years.

She was a member of the Burlington Junction United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Rolla-Dicks American Legion Auxiliary Post #315.

Preceding Florence in death were her parents, husband Jay Flanary (January 18, 1998), son Michael Flanary (July 30, 2001), daughter-in-law Sue Flanary and sisters: Helen Thomas, Doris Bremer and Hazel Lewis.

Surviving is son Paul (Sherry) Flanary, Maryville and daughter Sherrill (Ron) Williams, Forsyth, MO; 7 grandchildren: Janelle (David) Mather, Shawn (Julie) Rowlett, Brent Flanary, Julie (Deryn) Buntrock, Robyn Reed, Penny (Woody) Chase and Heather (Rob) McCormick; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Foster, Lowell Rogers "Butch" - Lowell R. “Butch” Foster, 76, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Saunders Group Home.

Lowell was born on July 3, 1942 to Jessie and Opal (Yearsly) Foster. He enjoyed making yard ornaments, crafts, reading, watching game shows and listening to music.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Tessie Foster, Patsy Shelton and Karen Lawson.

Ronald Ray From, 80, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph, MO.

Ron was born at home in Maryville on January 28, 1938. His parents were Henry and Flossie Mae (Gilbert) From. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his brothers, Hank and Jack From, and his sisters, Ruth Diggs, and Christine Peve.

Ron graduated from Maryville High School in 1956. He spent two summers in Shakopee, MN, working with his brother; with the city and driving a truck. Ron worked for many years in the Maryville area and at the Maryville Co-op in various management positions. Those included service stations, TBA Truck, and warehouse manager.  Later, he drove a truck for LMP Steel and Wire.

He was a builder and liked to tinker with things; cars, motorcycles, anything with a motor. He liked to fish at the Missouri River, but spending time with his family was his true love.

Ron was a member and attended Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville. He was an active member of the Northwest Missouri Street Rod Club.

On September 10, 1960, Ron was united in marriage to Lorna Sue Mayfield, at the First Baptist Church in Maryville. She survives of the home.

His other survivors include his children, Lori Ann Clements, Maryville, MO, Jeffrey Dwayne (Karen) From, Maryville, MO, and Thomas Ray (Debbie) From, Kansas City, MO; his sister, JoAnn (Bob) Horn, Maryville, MO; 7 grandchildren, Geoffrey From, Corey From, Michael Clements, Aaron From, Billie Jo Neal, Brady From, and Jessica From; 4 great grandchildren, Julian From, Lilly Hankins, Ezra From and Evelyn From; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron was cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Gibson, Cherry Lorraine Blackwell - Cherry Lorraine (Blackwell) Gibson, 64, of Shenandoah, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.

Celebration of life funeral services for Cherry will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service in Shenandoah with Nick Matya officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends with viewing and visitation Friday evening, July 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Memorials in Cherry's name are being directed to her husband, Roger Gibson. Following the committal service at the cemetery everyone is invited for a time of lunch and fellowship with family held at the New Beginnings Church, located at 705 6th Ave in Shenandoah.

The family requests that you please wear something in Cherry's favorite color, purple, to honor her memory to the visitation or funeral service.

Cherry Lorraine Gibson (Blackwell) was born on April 22nd, 1954 at Hand Hospital (Shenandoah Memorial Hospital) in Shenandoah. Surrounded by loving family, Jesus welcomed her home on July 3rd, 2018 at the age of 64 years, 2 months, and 11 days.

Cherry was the baby in the family, born to Jesse and Alice Blackwell. Along with her older brother, Robert, and her older sister, Donna, she spent most of her childhood in the Imogene area.

At the age of 16, Cherry welcomed her only child, Sheila. The two were inseparable, sharing a special bond until the day Cherry took her last breath with Sheila at her side.

Cherry met Roger Gibson in 1977 and it was a whirlwind romance. Despite Alice’s effort to keep them apart with a cast iron skillet, Roger and Cherry were married on June 27th, 1981. This marriage brought Cherry two step-children, Carie and Roger II (Shorty). Roger and Cherry celebrated their 37th anniversary last Wednesday when Cherry was in the hospital.

During most of her younger life, Cherry was a CNA, working at Gardenview, The Ambassador Sidney, and Elm Heights. She also worked alongside Sheila at the Little Duffer.

Cherry was a dedicated Billy Ray Cyrus fan and a VIP member of his #1 Fan Club. She went on many trips to see him perform, including Nashville, Las Vegas, and Branson. She met him several times, and had a room in her house devoted just to him. It was filled with all her souvenirs and was appropriately called “The Billy Ray Room”.

Due to some health injuries, Cherry retired early, spending all her time with family and friends. She became the full-time babysitter for Sheila’s two kids, Krystal and Kassidie. Cherry’s passion was her grandkids. Her joy was sitting outside on the front porch with her feet up, drinking iced tea and watching them play. Her fridge was always full of the best junk food and soda, and you never had to ask if you could have some! She helped raise her grandkids, teaching them about life, love, and forgiveness. No one other than Jesus has shown as much unconditional love as Grandma Cherry.

In most recent years, Cherry was helping raise the next generation of grandkids; her two
great-grandbabies, Khloe and Kynli. She was affectionately called GiGi, and she enjoyed every second of it. She always had their favorite snacks waiting, orange koolaid and Cheetos. The girls loved going to GiGi’s house, where they were always spoiled and never in trouble. They will be raised knowing how incredible GiGi was, as we share the stories of our wonderful times with her.

Cherry was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Alice Blackwell; brother, Robert Blackwell; and grandson, Kassidie Runyon.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Roger Gibson and fur-babies Kong and Brook; sister, Donna Cross and husband, Doug; daughter, Sheila Wilcoxson and husband, Dan; granddaughter, Krystal Crowley and husband, Steven (great grandbabies, Khloe and Kynli); step-daughter, Carie Hunt and husband, Clint; step-son, Roger Gibson II and fiancé, Michelle; along with 10 other grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, and many other friends and fapmily.

Cherry had rededicated her life to Jesus at Kassidie’s funeral on May 16th, 2016. It was then that she began following and serving the Lord. While our hearts on this earth are saddened at the loss of this amazing lady, we rejoice knowing that she is with our savior in Heaven

Giesken, John Nelson - John N. Giesken, 69, of Ravenwood, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at his home.

John was born on June 16, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Willard and Audrey (Nelson) Giesken. He was a 1967 graduate of Northeast Nodaway High School. John was a truck driver for Maryville Implement and later Northwest Implement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ravenwood Community Betterment, Nodaway County Shooting Sports, Missouri Trap Shooters Association, 4-H, past member Jackson Township Fire & Rescue.

He married Pat A. McGary on August 30, 1969 in Conception Junction, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Chris (Amy) Giesken, Olathe, Kansas, Corey (Tammi) Giesken, Kansas City, Missouri, daughter, Becky (Greg) Runde, Worth, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Taylor, Brady, Grayson Giesken and Jackson, Madelyn and Audrey Runde.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Hunter Giesken.

Givens, Mary E. Hodge - Mary E. Hodge Givens, daughter of the late John and Matilda Hodge, was born March 11, 1872, in Jones county, Iowa and died Feb 12, 1952, at the Osborne nursing home in Nodaway.

She came to Page county with her parents, when she was very small, and spent most of her life in and near Hawleyville.

She was married to Jacob Givens in Page county. He preceded his wife in death, Sept 26, 1934. They had no children.

For several years after her parents and husband died, she kept house for Bid??? Jones north of Hawleyville, and since the death of Mr Jones she made her home with her step-nephew, Marion Baker, in Hawleyville, until about two weeks prior to her death. She had been in ill health for several years.

She is survived by one living brother, George Hodge of Medford, Ore., who, was unable to come, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Harrington, Jerrold Duane - Jerrold Duane Harrington, 82 of Maryville, Missouri died Monday, October 1, 2018, at K U Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was born January 12, 1936 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Kermit Edward and Eva Dorothy Winans Harrington.

Jerry and Ramona Joyce Sumy were married June 24, 1955 in Pickering, Missouri.

Jerry was a 27 year employee of MoDot, working with the maintenance department. He was a member of the Church of Christ , Maryville.

Preceded in death were his daughter Vickie Gladman and sister Jill King.

Surviving are his wife, Ramona Harrington, daughters, Michelle (Kevin) McMillan, Maryville, Cindy (Ron) Melvin, Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Lisa Wheeler, Maryville, sisters, Joy Nelson, Brooksville, FL, Janie (Larry) Harbin, Maryville, and Jeanne Nicholson, Bedford, Iowa.

Hickerson, Eugenia "Sissy" Gorman - Eugenia M. “Sissy” Hickerson, 89 of Parkville, Missouri formerly of Skidmore, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at North Kansas City Hospice, Kansas City Missouri.

Sissy was born on May 21, 1929 in New English, Iowa to Bowen F. and Mattie J. (Foubert) Gorman. She was a 1947 graduate of the Skidmore High School. Sissy was a housewife and attended Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed miniature doll houses. 

She married Charles R. Hickerson on December 14, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2005. She was also preceded by her parents and two brothers, Bowen F. Gorman, Jr. and Archie F. Gorman.

Survivors include two daughters, Victoria Crandell, Raytown, Missouri and Sherry Evans, Parkville, Missouri; two granddaughters, Lisa Law, Denver, Colorado and Tiffany Hromek, New York, New York.

Timothy Scott Hodge, age 49, passed away September 4, 2018 in Maryville, MO. He was born May 24, 1969 in Maryville, MO.

Tim was a graduate of New Market High School. He enjoyed helping his father on the family farm in his younger years and aspired to be a writer. Tim had a gift of writing poetry and shared that gift with those closest to him. He had a strong passion for music and fishing. Tim cared deeply for others and genuinely wanted to make the world a better place.  Tim battled mental illness from early adulthood; however, he never let it affect his true nature of wanting to give to others and think positively about life. 

Tim fathered three children, Felicia, Kahner, and Taelor and he considered them his greatest accomplishments. He had an innate ability to make people laugh and touched the hearts of those around him no matter where he was in life. Tim bravely faced cancer and never complained or looked for pity as he neared the end of his life.

Lila was employed as a laborer by NOCOMO Industries, Maryville.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents.

Darlene was born on June 17, 1924 in Barnard, Missouri to Nial and Alice M. (Buie) Wyatt. She was a 1941 graduate of Maryville High School. She was a homemaker and member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.

She married Francis L. Jackson on February 9, 1942. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1971. She was also preceded by her parents, two sons, Rick and Ron Jackson, sister, Wanda Gray and two brothers, Robert and Don Wyatt, twin granddaughters Holly and Stephanie Morin, great-granddaughter, Kenya Burns.

Dwight was born on June 4, 1947 in Maryville, Missouri to Ray S. and Viola M. (Wilson) Joy. He graduated from North Kansas City High School and served in the United State Marines Corps during Vietnam. He was a sheet metal fabricator in the Aircraft Industry for many years working in several different locations over the Country. He was a gifted craftsman. Welding, stone and brick mason, mechanic, carpentry and chef, he could do it all. He loved to make others laugh and was usually the life of the party.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Gary, Gerald, and Ron Joy, and one grandson, Michael Vollman.

Kempf, Elizabeth "Betty" Myers - Elizabeth A. “Betty” Kempf, 71 of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at SSM Health St. Francis Hospital.

Betty was born on January 8, 1947 in Maryville, Missouri to Clarence and Lucille (Miller) Myers. She was a 1965 graduate of Mt. Alverno Academy in Maryville. Betty was a member of St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church. She was a babysitter and had worked for Federal Mogul and she enjoyed bowling.

She married Frank Peters on May 25, 1968 in Maryville, He preceded her in death on May 14, 2003. She was also preceded by her parents and three sisters, Rosemary, Phyllis and Sandra Myers.

Betty married John R. Kempf on August 20, 2005. He survives of the home. Donald Dean Kirk, 76, of Maryville, MO, formerly of Skidmore, MO, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, MO.

Donald was born November 15, 1941 near Maryville, to parents John Lloyd and Helen Lucille (Goforth) Kirk.

Donald graduated high school in Skidmore; and had been a farm worker and mechanic in the area for Jack Clement, and for Charles Brown farms.

Donald was an avid CB radio operator; and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He was a Methodist.

He married Martha Lou Chaney in Albany, MO. She later passed away in 2012.

His survivors are his 3 children, Carey Kirk, Skidmore, MO, Krista Boekenoogen, Tallahassee, FL, and Donnie (April) Kirk, Maitland, MO; his 3 siblings, Edward Kirk, Elmo, MO, Katherine Caton, St. Joseph, MO, and Gary Kirk, Elmo, MO; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kirk has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Memorial graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, October 5, 2018, at the Hall Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. No formal visitation will be held.

Kirk, Eunice Mabel Ellison - Eunice Mabel Kirk, 75 of Elmo, Missouri died on Friday, July 6, 2018, at SSM Health St. Francis in Maryville, Missouri.

Born Monday, May 17, 1943 in Burlington Junction, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Lee Ellison and the late Ruth Hamilton Ellison.

She was a member of Elmo Christian Church.

Surviving are sister, Maxine Ringerman of Cimarron, KS.

She was predeceased by brother, Mike Ellison, sister, Ann Raines.

Luke, Mary A. Wilmes - Mary A. Luke, 80, Maryville, Missouri, died July 18, 2018, at Village Care Center.

Mary was born November 1, 1937 to William Henry and Laura Louise (Thompson) Wilmes. On June 12, 1956 she married Alvin L. Luke in Maryville.

Mary worked in the office of Maryville High School and then spent many years working with her husband as a bookkeeper and secretary for Alvin Luke Construction.

She was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and served on the Church Council when the new gymnasium was built. She was a member of the Senior Bowling Association and Mozingo Golf Club Association and volunteered at St. Gregory's Council and Finance Committees. 

Preceding Mary in death were her brothers Bill and Jim Wilmes and sisters JoAnn Archer, Mercedes Spire and Mary Ann Wilmes.

Surviving Mary is her husband, Alvin of the home in Maryville, son Paul (Marcia) Luke, Platte City, MO and daughter Linda (Phil) Seipel, Ravenwood, MO; 4 grandchildren, Jared (Erica) Luke, Adriane (Travis) Wymore, Melanie (Aaron) Weibel, Renae Seipel and several great-grandchildren; 4 sisters Genny Jermain, Burlington Jct., MO, Dorothy Schmitz, Parnell, MO, Pat (John) Schieber and Laura Luke, Maryville and brother Fred (Darla) Wilmes, Platte City.

Velma Addaline Messbarger, 95, of Burlington Junction, MO passed away August 4, 2018 at Maryville Living Center with family at her side.

Velma was born February 26, 1923 in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Perry Ellsworth-Cassel and Viola Elizabeth (Berry) Cassel.

She married Maurice Ceddell Messbarger on Christmas Day 1939. He passed away July 2, 2000.

Velma was also preceded in death by her parents, four angel babies, a granddaughter, Tabitha Messbarger, four angel grandbabies, her only sister, Anna Brandon, and a half-brother, Richard Cassel.

Velma attended school in Burlington Junction, MO. She was an avid cat lover caring for any and all that needed her. Velma and her husband owned and operated Velma’s Bank Restaurant in Burlington Junction, MO for several years. She later worked at Robbins Lightning as a weathervane painter and painted the large pheasant weathervane that remains outside of the business today. She was then a door greeter at Wal-Mart for many years prior to her retirement.

Miller, Katie - Kathryn Louise "Katie" Miller, 88 of Maryville, Missouri died on Monday, August 20, 2018, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care in Maryville, Missouri.

Katie was born October 24, 1929 to Johney and Thelma (Fletchall) Barnett in rural Worth County, Missouri. Katie married Billy Miller on February 22,1949, in Maryville, who preceded her in death. A 1947 graduate of Skidmore High School, Katie was employed by Maryville R-II School District as the Administrative Assistant over 30 years.

Katie was a member of Countryside Christian Church, and was a SSM St. Francis Hospital Volunteer, Maryville.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Billy Miller September 16, 1959, brother Johnny Barnett, and sisters Fern Jones, Betty Hitchcock, and Doris Carmichael.

He is survived by his daughter, Traci (Steve) Wilson, Kansas City, MO and grandson Jase Wilson, San Francisco, CA, and daughters Kristi (Bruce) White, Maryville, MO and Codi Nuckolls, Maryville, MO, Sisters Francis Martin, Coin, IA, Gloria McCowen, Coin, IA and Jade DeWelt, Joplin, MO and various nieces, nephews and cousins.

Garry was a drywall contractor and painter who also did custom home interior work. He was a musician who played guitar and sang in various bands throughout his life. He was an artist who painted and drew. He saw beauty in many things and was able to point it out in ways to many who might not have seen it otherwise. He liked animals and children - he always had a treat in his pocket for the dogs and had a way to pick out just the right toy for a child’s birthday gift. He painted pictures for friends and family and drew wonderful caricatures for many that are treasured today. He was a fisherman and spent every available opportunity at the reservoir to catch bait and at the river where he was happiest to fish for the large catfish of which he caught several.

He will be missed by all who love him but we know his pain is gone and he is free so we will look for him in the breeze on the warm, sunny days at the river - just waiting on the next big cat to bite…

O'Riley, Patrick David - Patrick David O'Riley, 66 of Maryville, Missouri died at his home Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

Pat was born October 15, 1951 in Maryville, the son of the late Fred Francis and Margaret Louise (Myers) O'Riley.

He was a 1969 graduate of Maryville High School and also attended Northwest Missouri State University for two years. Pat was the Nodaway County Circuit Clerk for several years. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Maryville.

Preceding Pat in death were his parents, brothers Donald, Charles and Fred O'Riley and sisters Barbara Sears and Norma Jean O'Riley.

Surviving Pat are his wife Kathy O'Riley of the home in Maryville; daughters, Shelby (Tom) Scarbrough, Jefferson City, Missouri and Shannon (Travis) O'Doherty, Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Payton (Dani) Scarbrough, Lynchburg, Virginia and Baylee (Caleb) Mather, Tulsa; brothers, Ralph O'Riley and W. R. Preeo, Abbie Hogan - Mrs Abbie V. Preeo, 78, died at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha at 7 am Sunday where she had been admitted Sept 29.

She was born Sept 20, 1889, at Beloit, Kans. She was married to John F. Preeo Dec 25, 1907, who preceded her in death Nov 8, 1948.

To this union was born four children, Orville and Mrs Graham (Mable) Wilson of Clarinda, Mrs Dirwood (Velma) Miller of Drake, Colo, and Mrs Lloyd (Helen) Duran of Harper, Kans. Surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family home for the Preeos was on a farm in the Siam vicinity before coming to Clarinda 22 years ago.

Preeo, Sarah A. Hogan - Sarah A. Hogan Preeo was born in Maryville, Kansas, June 16, 1882, and passed away March 30, 1966, in Stockton, Calif. She was united in marriage Sept 18, 1901, to James Fredrick Preeo. To this union were born three children, Elmer E., and Lawrence L. of Stockton, Calif, and Leona C, who died in infancy.

They moved to Iowa in 1911. In 1912, Sarah joined the Methodist Church in Siam. In 1926, they moved to Clarinda, where they were employed at the State Hospital until Mr Preeo's death in 1944. After her husband's death, she moved to Stockton, where she resided until her death. Besides her two sons, she leaves to mourn her death a sister, Mrs Abbie Preeo, of Clarinda, a brother, Brian Hogan of Nampa, Idaho, five grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the Walker Funeral Home at 10:30 am Tuesday, April 5, 1966, with the Rev Lester Greenwood in charge. Organ music was by Aletha L. Hutchings. Price, Teresa Runde Kemper - Teresa Kemper Price, 95, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
Teresa was born on June 21, 1923 in Stanberry, Missouri to John and Mathilda (Ginther) Runde. She was a homemaker and member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and Oblate of St. Benedict's Conception Abbey.

She married Louis J. Kemper on June 1, 1943 in Stanberry, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She later married John Price in July of 1985. He also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmie and Richard Kemper, daughter, Vera Brady, and three brothers, Leo, Jack and Richard Runde.

Ray, R. David - R. David Ray 69, Rockport, Texas formerly of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in Rockport.

David was born on August 14, 1949 in Los Angeles, California to the late Robert and Betty (Smith) Ray. 

He was a 1968 graduate of Maryville High School. David was employed by Pierce Vet Clinic, Lloyd Metal Products, Owner and Broker of Market Masters Real Estate. He served as a Deputy Coroner and later Coroner of Nodaway County and retired from the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department after 28 years of service.

David was enjoying his retirement years in Rockport, Texas. He will be missed by his Maryville family and friends at Big Lake, Missouri and Rockport, Texas.

He is survived by his sister, Carrie L. (Martin) Carmichael of Maryville, Missouri.

Ripley, Tina M. Smith - Tina M. Ripley, 52 of Kansas City, Missouri formerly of Elmo, Missouri passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at her son’s home.

Tina was born on July 17, 1965 in Clarinda, Iowa to Zealand and Marjorie (Livengood) Smith. She was a graduate of West Nodaway High School, member of the Elmo Christian Church and was a personal caregiver.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anita Jo Hutchison.

Ritterbusch, Gladys Cook - Gladys M. Ritterbusch, 99, of Maryville, died Sunday, September 30, at Oak Pointe of Maryville.

She was born March 25, 1919 near Maryville, a daughter of the late Earl W. and Mabel Humphrey Cook. She was a graduate of Maryville High School and Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, Maryville.

On March 22, 1945, she married Louis H. Ritterbusch at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He died in 1987. She married William Bedford Dysart March 3, 1990, in Savannah, where they lived until his death in 1998.

Mrs. Ritterbusch was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville, several civic and cultural organizations in Maryville, and bridge clubs in both Maryville and Savannah. She worked for the Strong, Strong & Prokes law firm in Maryville from 1959 until 1990.

She is survived by her son, Karl Ritterbusch, and his wife, Linda, Maryville, and her children, Traci (Brian) Davenport, Maryville, Jami Briet, Midwest City, OK, and Ryan (Holly) Hill, Maryville, and seven great-grandchildren, and her son, Robert Ritterbusch, also of Maryville. Other survivors include her nieces, Sherry (Paul) Reiger, Falls City, NE, and their children, Kevin and Kara; a niece, Virginia Gergen, and a nephew, William E. Gergen, both of Geneva, NE, and the children of Mr. Dysart, Berttis B. (Fran) Dysart, Woodlawn Park, CO, and Marilyn J. (James) Merritt, Lexington, KY, and their families.

Stephen Wayne “Rosie” Rosenbohm, 59, of Albany, MO, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Rolling Hills Creative Living, Albany, MO.

Stephen was born on October 26, 1958, in St. Joseph, MO; his parents were Russell Wayne and Carol Elaine (Stephens) Rosenbohm.  He had formerly resided in Marshall, MO, and Higginsville, MO, and in Albany since 1980.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell; his mother, Carol; and his step father, Jerry Davis.

Stephen liked listening to Christmas music; to eat cheeseburgers, fries, and especially ice cream.  He could be a little ornery, but he loved giving hugs, kisses, and everyone who knew him loved him.  The staff at Rolling Hills remembers him because he touched everyone’s heart.  

He is survived by his 2 sisters, Lynda (Doug) Bjorklun, Overland Park, KS, and Alice (Kipp) Meadows, Maitland, MO; his nieces and nephews, Stephanie Goodwin, Berlin, GER, Andrea Goodwin (and partner, Elliott Bentley) Columbia, MO, Justin (Veronica) Stiens, Bridgewater, IA, and Eddie (Guthrie) Stiens, Skidmore, MO; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Smith, Nellie Mae - Nellie Mae Smith, 75, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Torrance Group Home.

Nellie was born on February 13, 1943 in Nodaway County to Fred and Marry (Hutson) Smith and grew up on the family farm. She moved in to the Edwards Group Home in 1984 and to St. Joseph in 1989. She lived there until returning back to Maryville in 2012 where she lived at the Torrance Group Home.

Nellie attended public and state schools and worked for NOCOMO Industries in Maryville prior to moving to St. Joseph. She enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and always had a good sense of humor and loved being around others.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gerald Smith.

Survivors include her brother, Charles (Donna) Smith, Pickering, Missouri; sister, Liz (John) Wilmes, Maryville, Missouri and several half brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews and her Torrance Group Home Family.

Spire, Eugene "Gene" Edward - Eugene “Gene” Spire, 87, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Maryville Living Center.

Gene was born on July 24, 1931 in Parnell, Missouri to Vincent and Josephine (Lager) Spire. He was a graduate of Maryville High School and served in the United States Army.

He owned and operated Spire Construction Company for 50 years, and also sold real estate. He served as a supervisor of Nodaway County Road and Bridge, Public Water District #1. He was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church and James Edward Gray American Legion Post #100, Elks Club, all in Maryville. Gene was also involved with Hopkins Saddle Club, Maryville 4-H Saddle Club, Little Britches Rodeo, and Missouri High School Rodeo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo Spire, sister Catherine Busby, Brothers-in -Law John Busby, Bob Lory, Lavelle Griffey, Don DeMott and Nephew Larry Busby.

Gene married Patricia A. Mendenhall on June 2, 1955 in Maryville, Missouri, she survives of the home. Austina was born on October 9, 1931 in Elmo, Missouri to Willis E. and Alma I. (Andrews) Calfee. She was a 1949 graduate of Maryville High School. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer. Austina was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Parnell, Missouri, Nodaway County Genealogical Society and the Sixty Plus Club in Parnell. 
She married James P. Spire on January 7, 1950 in Maryville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 22, 1986. She was also preceded by her parents, daughter, Virginia Burns, (April 24, 2017), brother, Gary Calfee (February 27, 2010), daughter-in-law, Delores Spire and great-granddaughter, Olivia Stiens.

Stein, Leona Catherine Berg - Leona Catherine Stein, 92, Gallatin, Missouri diedThursday, August 16, 2018, at her home.

She was born on March 3, 1926 in Worth County, Missouri to Edward and Sarah (Spire) Berg.

Leona was a homemaker and worked for Sears for many years in the Kansas City area. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parnell, Missouri. Leona enjoyed being with her family and going fishing.

She married Meril C. Stein on December 29, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1997. She was also preceded by her parents, one son, Fred Stein, four brothers, Clarence, Andrew, Edward and Edwin Berg, two sisters, Rita Berg and Regina Malinowski and one grandchild Erin Stein.

Surviving include three sons, James Stein, Dover, New Hampshire and Ben and Greg Stein both of Gallatin, Missouri, two grandchildren, Christopher and Heather; four great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Dartanion, Jillian and Matthew; sister-in-law, Dee Stein-Besecker and numerous nieces and nephews.

William Lavern Straughn, 6, Grant City, MO passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2018.

William was born in Joplin, MO. William enjoyed riding his scooter with Papa Dean, recently learned to ride his bike without training wheels and playing checkers, playing video games, playing T-Ball, protecting his family with a wooden hanger tucked into his shirt as his bow and arrow, eating his State Peanut Butter, putting BBQ sauce on everything, and is known for his choice of words.

Tannehill, Virginia L. - Virginia L. Tannehill, 87, of Bethany, Missouri formerly of Guilford, Missouri passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Harrison County Group Home.

Virginia was born on October 14, 1930 in Nodaway County Missouri to the late Preston and Effie (Harmon) Tannehill. She attended grade school in Guilford and was of the protestant faith. She loved spicy foods, peanut brittle, cotton candy and loved to sing the Star Spangled Banner. She had a very kind heart and began working for the Harrison County Workshop in August 1991 and retired in July 2012. She missed her mother very much and spoke of her often and her two dogs Toby Jack and Pepsi Cola.

She is survived by her group home family and many friends.

Treese, Herbert Dean - Herbert D. Treese, 89, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, Missouri.

Herbert was born on October 4, 1928 in Pickering, Missouri to Crystal and Alma (Cline) Treese.

He was a 1946 graduate of Horace Man High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Maryville. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. Herbert retired from Northwest Missouri State University as a stationary engineer with the power plant. He enjoyed wintering in Texas with his wife and playing cards.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Neal.

He married Carolyn Turner on June 23, 1951 in Hopkins, Missouri. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include, son, Ed (Barbara) Treese, Lake Lotawana, Missouri; daughter, Becky Bolyard, Olathe, Kansas; two brothers, Howard (Billie) Treese, Yuma, Arizona and Harold (JoAnn) Treese, Camdenton, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brad (Kelly) Bolyard, John (Maria) Bolyard and Jennie (Justin) Moore; six great-grandchildren, Jillian, Ashlyn, Bekah, Austin, Stella and Scarlett.

Turpen, William - William Turpen, age 86, who lived three miles west of Clearmont died about 11 o'clock this morning, following three years' illness of cancer. Death occurred at the home of a son, C.A. Turpin. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the M.E. Church in Clearmont. Burial will be in the Clearmont cemetery.

Mr Turpen was born in Indiana, March 15, 1841. He came to Nodaway County when young. He formerly lived in Maryville and had a grocery store in a building on the site where the First National Bank now stands. Later he moved on a farm near Elmo, and went to Clearmont where he lived with his son until his death. His wife died seven years ago.

He is survived by four sons and four daughters. They are F.M., Earl, and Joseph Turpen, all of near Burlington Junction; C.A. Turpen, of Clearmont; Mrs H.C. Gohn, of Clearmont; Mrs L.C. Tuttle, Jeremiah, Brother - Br. Jeremiah Tuttle, O.S.B. 67 of Conception Abbey passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Stephen’s Infirmary at Conception, Missouri.

Br. Jeremiah was born on March 27, 1951 in WaKeeney, Kansas to the late Delbert and Martha (Carlson) Tuttle. He was a graduate of Quinter High School in Quinter, Kansas and Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas.

He professed as a monk on August 15, 1997. His assignments at Conception Abbey were sales and marketing for the Printery House and Basilica sacristan.

Br. Jeremiah is survived by his monastic community; two brothers, Scott Tuttle, Hayes, Kansas and J. Sheldon Tuttle, Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Melissa Riegal of Hayes, Kansas and other family members.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm Monday, September 10th with Vespers of the Dead at 7:15pm at The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Conception, Missouri.

Valdez, Mary Anita, Sr, - Sr. Mary Anita Valdez, 85 of Clyde, Missouri passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Rickenbach in Clyde, Missouri.

Sr. Mary Anita was born on January 6, 1933 in La Jara, Colorado to Jose and Alice (Gallegos) Valdez. She was a graduate of La Jara High School in La Jara, Colorado. She entered the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration on September 15, 1950. She made her first profession of vows on October 5, 1952 and was given the name Sister Mary Anita Valdez. Her final profession of vows was on October 5, 1957.

Sr. Mary Anita Valdez was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Andrew and Leopoldo Valdez and one sister, Teresa Monfilett. 

She is survived by her Monastic family and two brothers, Joseph and Alonzo Valdez and one sister, Marge Hoskins.

Wallace, Doris Darlene Thompson - Doris Darlene (Thompson) Wallace, daughter of Thomas Franklin and Mary Alice (Bartlett) Thompson, was born on June 30, 1927 at Burlington Junction, Missouri. She passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Nebraska Medicine – Omaha at the age of 91 years, 1 month, 1 day.

Her early life was spent in northwest Missouri in the communities of Burlington Junction and Maryville. On May 4, 1946, Doris was united in marriage to Harold Joseph Wallace at Troy, Kansas. Following their marriage they lived in Maryville before settling in Shenandoah, Iowa where they raised their three children, Mary Ann and twin boys, Dale and Gale.

Through the years, Doris worked various jobs. Including the hospital in Maryville, Snow White Laundry in Shenandoah, Ruth Café, Kindle Café, Maid Rite Café and later in her career was self-employed as a housekeeper for various clients. She was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship in Shenandoah. Doris loved her cats and enjoyed taking care of them. Doris will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who loved to cook for all her family.

Preceding Doris in death was her husband, Harold Wallace, in April of 2005; daughter, Mary Ann Miller; parents; brother and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Dale Wallace and wife Nancy of Azle, TX and Gale Wallace and wife Lori of Essex, IA; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The family will greet relatives and friends with visitation and viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials in Doris' name are being directed to the family. Interment will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery next to her husband, Harold J. Wallace

Gene Wesley Wester, 89, Maryville, MO passed away July 31, 2018 in Maryville, MO.  Gene was born December 3, 1928 in Shenandoah, IA.

Gene was a graduate of Tarkio High School and attended Tarkio College.   He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.  He was a self-employed farmer all his adult life. After retiring from farming he drove a school bus, for 11 years, for the Tarkio School District.   

Gene enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, as well as woodworking and building things for his grandchildren.  He was a member of Laura Street Baptist Church.  He served as a Deacon from 1972-2000 and started a bus ministry, for 17 years, at the Tarkio First Baptist Church.

Gene was united in marriage to Betty Ruth Brinegar on June 7, 1953.  She survives of the home in Maryville, MO.

Additional survivors include; Daughters, Genine (Phil) Lance, Graham, MO and Linda (Rick) Owens, Clarinda, IA.  Son, Mark (Faith) Wester, Monument, CO.  Grandchildren: Kara (Jesse) Marsh, Scott (Nichole) Lance, Lisa Lance (Tanner Barr), Carleen (Jason) Smith, Doug (Rebekah) Owens, Danny (Kendra) Owens, Evan (Sarah) Wester, Lauren Wester, Jenae` Wester, and Ben Wester; and seventeen great-grandchildren. 

Preceding Gene in death include his parents, John (Wes) and Laura (Anna) Wester.

Family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2018 at Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

White, Mary Ellen Hall - Mary Ellen White, 94, of Hopkins, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville.

Mary Ellen was born on March 3, 1924 in Hopkins, Missouri to the late Earl W. and Mary Jane (Huey) Hall. She was a 1942 graduate of Hopkins High School and was a homemaker. She was a 77 year member of the Hopkins Christian Church, Fairview Club, Levi & Laces Square Dance Club.

She married Merle Ray White on June 24, 1942 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include one daughter, Sandy (Steve) Alexander, Hopkins, Missouri; six grandchildren, Sonya (Mark) Nistendirk, Sim (Julie) White, Shanna (Bill) South, Stan (Lindsay) Alexander, Cameron (Kenzie) White, Kaci (Brandon) Flippo; fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd (Gloria) Hall, North Bend, Washington, Earl Hall, Jr. Bedford, Iowa, Glen (Donna) Hall, Savannah, Missouri, one sister, Virginia Petersen, Johnston, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Linda (Pat) McKee, Maryville, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ronald Eugene White, brother, Huey Hall and four sisters, Pauline Swope, Lola Houston, Dorothy Ingram and Margaret Patterson.

Wright, Ruth Marie Hart - Ruth M. Wright, 87, of Skidmore passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville, Missouri.

Ruth was born on January 23, 1931 in Sheridan, Missouri to Lloyd and Ennis (Florea) Hart.

She was a graduate of the Sheridan High School and a member of the Sheridan Christian Church. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Linda Brown.

Ruth married Dean E. Wright on August 31, 1985 in Skidmore, Missouri. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Drexel “Butch” (Jean) Cordell, Social Circle, Georgia, Buddy (Vickie) Brown, Smithville, Missouri; three daughters, Connie (Tom) Kenny, Skidmore, Missouri, LeAnn (Larry) May, Landsdale, Pennsylvania, Carol (Steve) Carpenter, Farragut, Iowa; sister, Arvetta Terry, St. Joseph, Missouri; brother, Eldon (Loretta) Hart, Sheridan, Missouri; twenty grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Martha Jane Wyer, 68, of Parnell, MO passed away August 13, 2018 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Martha was born January 31, 1950 to parents Victor Adams and Anna Jean (Maxwell) Adams.

She was united in marriage in 1983 to Terry Wyer at the Parnell Methodist Church, who passed away October 10, 2016.

Martha graduated high school from Northeast Nodaway. She worked in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville where she retired after 15 years of service. Martha was an avid reader. She was of the Christian faith.

Her beloved 3-year-old granddaughter Annabelle said of her grandmother, “Nanna is going to be a beautiful angel.”

She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Adams; her husband, Terry Wyer; a son, Daniel Chapasko; and two nieces Chris McMichael and Shelli Straight.

Martha’s survivors include: her mother, Jean Adams of Maryville, daughter Tracey (David) Johnston of Parnell, sisters; Francis Force of Grant City, Cora (Donald) Findley of Gentry, Bonnie (Steve) Moreland, of Bethany, Annie (Danny) Bohon of St. Joseph, a brother Victor (Nancy) Adams of Maryville, and one granddaughter Annabelle Johnston of Parnell, MO.

Martha has been cremated under the direction of Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO

Ronald Lee Yates, Maryville, MO., passed away Friday, August 24, 2018, at his home. Ronnie was born March 4, 1943, to Leland R. and Letha M. (Barr) Yates, in Maryville, MO.
