Albright, Donald "Gump" Leroy - Donald “Gump” Leroy Albright was born March 21, 1934 in Hopkins, Missouri, the son of Howard Leroy and Mildred Elizabeth (Ulmer) Albright. He passed away on Saturday morning, August 6, 2016 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 16 days.
Don grew up in Hopkins and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1952. After high school he stood up as best man for lifelong friends, Carl and Nell Carmichael. Don worked in the grocery store until August of 1953 when he joined the U.S. Navy. In April of 1962 he was united in marriage to Sueko Soland and the couple had one daughter, Patricia. On October 21, 1979 he was married to Barbara Burrington in Pickering, Missouri.
Following boot camp Don started a 32-year career with the Navy where he served in San Francisco, California, Korea, Japan, Pensacola, Florida, Bainbridge, Maryland, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He later served at the Pentagon, on the USS Borie (DD704) and at the Naval Historical Center in Washington, DC. Don retired from the Navy in 1977 and then worked for the State of Iowa DOT and Liquor Department and the Glenwood Resource Center until he retired from there in 1999. After retiring he worked census 2000 and continued part time at Glenwood Resource Center until 2006.
Don was an avid sports fan and loved the Washington Redskins. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling. The two of them traveled to 49 of the 50 states together. He was also a member of the Eagle's Club for over 40 years. Don's true love was his family, especially his wife and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step father, Dean Beauchamp; and his wife, Barbara.
Survivors include his children, Patricia Albright of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Diane Starnes and her husband Raymond of Grimes, Iowa, Darrell McFarland and his wife Evelyn of Port Townsend, Washington; grandchildren, Donna, Diana, Devon, Cletus III, Jason, Donald, Tara, Jeremy, Elizabeth, Timothy and Chance; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Michael Albright and his wife Renee of Bedford, Iowa; along with other relatives and many friends. Never let it be said he didn't have a good time!
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa with Dr. William Artherholt officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak. Asher, C.M. "Pistol" - C.M. (Pistol) Asher, 82, Sheridan, MO, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

Pistol was born on May 18, 1934, in Oklahoma City, OK, his parents were Charles and Gladys (McKinley) Asher. They preceded him in death. He was also prededed by his wife, Virgina Ann (Jennifer) Asher in November 2, 2009, his son, Kelly Lee Asher, 4 brothers, J.D., Hillyard, Kenny, and Bill Asher; and his sister, Patty Jo Asher.

Pistol lived most all his life in Worth County, and was baptized at the Sheridan Christian Church. He was a dozer operator for himself and later for other businesses in the area.

On April 18, 1959, Pistol was united in marriage to Virginia Ann (Jennifer) Smith.

Survivors include his children, Kevin Asher, Sheridan, Troy (Jennifer) Asher, Maryville, Kim Asher, Sheridan, Karla (Kyle) Nelson, Stewartsville, Toni (David) Thomas, Sheridan; step son, Bobby (Pat) Smith, Bedford, IA; 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was born April 2, 1927 in Maryville, the daughter of Francis Joseph and Marguerite Gertrude (Bleuel) Gross.

A graduate of Maryville High School, Margaret married Eldon Lee Bears on April 12, 1958 in Maryville. They were later divorced.

She was a homemaker and a member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, where she devoted countless hours.

Margaret was preceded in death by her sons: Martin and David Bears; parents; brothers: Bill, Donald, Karl, David and Edmund Gross and sisters: Mildred Peter, Elizabeth Rose and Rita Gross.

Bixler, Rebecca - 1951 - 2016. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca ( Becky) Bixler, beloved daughter, sister and aunt. She is survived by her mother Dorotha (Adams) Bixler and her 3 brothers.

Becky graduated from Sun Prairie High School Sun Prairie, WI. The family moved to Boise, ID where Becky earned her BA degree from Boise State University. She also attended N.W. Missouri State University in Maryville, MO.

Becky loved the Madison, WI area so she returned there to live. In Madison she did research for a group of lawyers and later worked for Great Lakes Financial. Becky retired in Maryville, MO to be near family. Becky was an avid reader and loved listening to Christian broadcast. She enjoyed attending church, going to the senior center and volunteering her time.

There will be a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, MO at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 17, 2016 . Marvin had been a member of the Sheridan Saddle Club, former board member of MFA Livestock, MFA Oil Board, MFA Exchange and former member of the Independence Township Board.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, David Brown, Sr.

Caldwell, Derril C. - Derril C. Caldwell, 83, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at his home, with his family at his side.

Derril was born on March 9, 1933, in Sheridan, MO. His parents were Maynard Stokley and Wilma May Caldwell. He moved to Maryville after graduating from Sheridan High School. He attended NWMSU in Maryville for 3+ years working toward a degree in Architecture.

On June 2, 1957, in Parnell, MO, Derril was united in marriage to Frankie Lou Spoonemore. She passed away on October 4, 2005.

Derril was a truck driver for Crouch Brothers for 25 years in Maryville. He then worked for McLean Trucking for several years in Maryville and Omaha, NE. He retired in 1998, after 10 years working for ABF Freight in St. Joseph, MO. He also enjoyed umpiring for many years in the NWMO area.

He proudly served his country in the US Army, from 1953 to 1955, stationed at Ft. Riley, KS, and Ft. Polk, LA.

Preceded him in death were his parents, his wife, Frankie, in 2005; an infant sister, Marcia Caldwell; brothers, Denzil, and Richard Caldwell; 2 grandsons, Steven Kyle Swalley and Derrick Charles McGuire; nephew, Craig Caldwell; and several brother and sister in laws.

He was a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville, former member of the Maryville Elks Club #760. He loved to play golf at Mozingo Golf Club and Tarkio Golf Club, and bowling at Bearcat Lanes.

Castillo, Izetta Ann Koehler - Izetta Ann Koehler Castillo, 88, of Maryville, Mo passed away in Parkdale Manor on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Izetta was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 27, 1927, to Oscar and Maude (Squire) Koehler. She graduated in 1945 from Clarinda High School in Clarinda, IA. After graduation she moved to California to work in the Jet Propulsion Plant. She then returned to Clarinda and worked at JC Penney. She subsequently moved to Ottumwa, IA and graduated from Business School.

On July 10th, 1949, she married Floyd Castillo, Jr. (“Junior”) in St Clara’s Catholic Church in Clarinda, IA. The couple moved to Elmo to farm and start their family. Izetta worked as a Bookkeeper for Elmo MFA for several years and she was a member of the first Rescue Squad in Nodaway County.

Together, Izetta and Junior had 6 children, Stephen Castillo, Clarinda IA; Beth Castillo, Savannah MO; Jack Castillo, Liberty MO; Kris (Pat) Castillo, Maryville MO; Jon (Jill) Castillo, Burlington Jct. MO; Joseph (Brenda) Castillo, Platte City MO.
Grandchildren are Tate (Melissa) Castillo, Stephani (Ben) Widmer, Seth (Kylee) Castillo, Thad (Amber) Castillo, Shawna Castillo, Holly (Aaron) McCoppin, Jamie (Caroline) Hare, Brent (Moira) Castillo, Kelli Castillo, Ryan (Mary) Castillo, Devin (Mike) Colfelt, Joshua (Keri) Castillo, Darci (Heath) Henry, Andrew Castillo, Jacob Castillo, Brent Roach, and Erica (Brad) Hodge. Izetta also has 23 great grandchildren.

Izetta was preceded in death by her husband, Junior, on January 9, 1999; her parents Maude and Oscar Koehler; 4 sisters, Nancy Laughlin, Doris Sheridan, Mary Gay, and Bertha Koehler; her mother-in-law Cleta Castillo and father-in-law Floyd Castillo, Sr., sister-in-law Kathryn Castillo, and her precious infant great grandson Taylor Jon Castillo.

Selma Kay Christiansen was born February 22, 1943 in Nodaway County, Missouri to Persious Myrl Ashford and Dorothy Helen (Emery) Ashford. Kay was lovingly raised by Erma Lois (McDonald) and Persious Ashford. She graduated from Mound City High School, Mound City, Missouri. Kay and Joe Christiansen were united in marriage June 17, 1977 in Maryville, Missouri and became a blended family with seven children, Teresa, Marla, Pam, Tammy, Jason, Melissa and Bobbi.

Kay was a hard worker, sometimes working two to three jobs to help provide and care for her family. She wore many hats; waitress at Gray’s Truck Stop, factory worker at Uniroyal, manager of the Burlington Junction Community Center, Home Health Care provider, and she retired from the Clarinda Correctional Center dietary department. Kay and Joe enjoyed managing the Amity Café for several years.

Kay’s top priority was her family; she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Watching the humming birds and wrens was a pleasure for her. She enjoyed the farm life and her gardening (flowers and vegetables).

Preceding Kay in death were her parents, Persious and Erma Lois Ashford; brothers, Ed Wallace and Donald Myrl Ashford; sisters, Velma Royalty, Erma JoAnn Ashford-Day; grandson, Dayton Cowan.

Derry, Phyllis Kay Lane - Phyllis Kay Derry passed away July 24, 2016 at Nodaway Nursing Home after a valiant fight with cancer.

Phyllis was born April 8, 1952. She was the daughter of Eldon and Colleen Lane of Stanberry, Missouri.

Phyllis attended Northwest Missouri State University for 2 1/2 years.
Phyllis was a Registered Nurse who spent her career between Nodaway Nursing Home, where she was director of nursing for 15 years and the Golden Living Center. When Phyllis became ill a few months ago she made arrangements to be cared for by her co-workers at the Nodaway Nursing Home.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Lane; brother, Steven Lane; husband Scott Turner; and husband Olin Derry.

Survivors include her mother Colleen Lane of Stanberry, son Travis (Collette) Turner and granddaughter Lillie of Kansas City, MO, daughter Sara (Drew) Tyson and grandchildren Collin, Amarieanna, and Andrew of Kansas City, MO. , sister in-law Cindy Lane of Stanberry, brothers Stanley (Deborah) Lane of Stanberry, and Scott (Marsha) Lane of Clyde, MO., sisters Linda (David) Miller of Stewartsville, and Denise (Russell) Wiederholt of Maryville. And Phyllis's dear friend and beau Bill Eckles of Maryville, and many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.

Eitel, Joan Stevenson - Joan Eitel, 82, of Maryville, MO, passed away, August 17, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by her beloved family.

Joan was born November 23, 1933, in Graham, MO. Her parents were Joshua Ward Stevenson and Marvel Josephine (McDowell) Stevenson; they preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her son John; and also by her sisters, Betty Peltzer, Marie Donaldson, and Marjorie Havlic, and brother John Stevenson, her in-laws Willard Peltzer, Lawrence Donaldson, and Eugene Havlic.

Joan worked for many years as a secretary, bookeeper, and lab tech for the University of Missouri Extension Office.

Joan was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Nodaway Historical Society, the Nodaway Geneological Society, Modern Managers Extension Club, and 4-H club.

On October 4, 1952, she married Ferris Eitel at the Graham, MO, Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband of their home. Other survivors are her daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Davidson of Kansas City, MO, and Dixie (Frank) McGary of Maryville. Her grandchildren Rebecca and Jonathon Davidson of Kansas City, and Craig and Phillip McGary of Maryville,MO, and her sister- in-law Lucy Stevenson of Williamsburg, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joan's body has been donated to science.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

A graduate of Diagonal, Iowa High School, she was a retired housekeeper for Northwest Missouri State University.

She married Dale "Buck" Farrens December 9, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Buck Farrens (May 26, 2016), son Patrick Farrens Sr,; daughter Charlotte Lucille Eckler ; sisters Lillian Day, Doris Tomlinson, Darlene Rogers, Janice Wilson and Alvena Clark and brothers: Cecil, Ernest and Laverne Adkisson.

A 1975 graduate of Nodaway Holt High School, he was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the Maitland Volunteer Fire Department, where he also served as a board member.

Gipe, Clarence Edward - Clarence Edward Gipe was the youngest of a family of eight born to James Harry and Sycha Hollingshead Gipe on June 12, 1883 at Alma, Nebraska and passed away after a long period of illness at the age of 82. [Died Jan 10, 1966 St Francis Hospital, Maryville, Mo]

He was united in marriage to Rosa Belle Tillman January 8, 1908 at Alma, Nebraska. Then moved to Nodaway county in 1910 and to this union were born four daughters and two sons. One daughter preceeded in death as a small child and his wife Jnuary 12, 1960.

Those who mourn are Mrs Lillia Williams, Barstow, California, Mrs Arcelle Livengood, Rosemead, California, Mrs Katherine Arthur, Springfield, Oregon, James Gipe, Elmo, Missouri, Bob Lee Gipe, Lakewood, California, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Thursday at the Spainhower and Kerns Funeral Home with Rev Howard Snow Elmo Christian Church officiating.

Goodwin, Patricia Ann Cook - Patricia Ann Goodwin, 83, Maryville, Missouri, died August 26, 2016, at her home.

Patricia was born May 5, 1933, in Oakland, California to George Cook and Florence Lillian Bridgeman Geary.

A high school graduate, Patricia was a homemaker.

She married Donald Lewis Goodwin on February 4, 1963, in Sparks Nevada.

Patricia attended the Ravenwood Christian Church.

Preceding in death were her husband Donald Goodwin ( June 22, 1999)

Gumm, Hubert E. - Hubert E. Gumm, Maryville, MO, passed away at his home Monday, July 18, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Hubert was born February 3, 1931 to Morton and Rena Breshears Gumm, in Weaubleau, MO. He graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1948. On September 18, 1950 he was united in marriage to Maxine Murray.

Hubert was a member of the First Baptist Church, Maryville.

He was a 40+ year member, and Past President, of Host Lions Club, Past President of Chamber of Commerce and Past President of Eagles Lodge #3669, Maryville.

His favorite past-times were hunting, fishing, bowling and spending time with family. Maxine Gumm passed away June 18, 1997. In 2000, he married Viola Peery Acklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine Gumm, brother Harold Gumm and sister Dorothy Coffey.

He is survived by his three children: Steven (Becky) Gumm, St. Joseph, Brenda (Dan) Rapp, Weatherby Lake, MO, and Linda (Doug) Schieber, Grain Valley, MO;
wife Viola, Maryville;
three step-children: Lora Lea Acklin, St. Joseph, Alan Acklin, Ida Grove, IA and Carolyn (Dale) Buhman, Clarksdale, MO;

Hubert worked for MFA Exchange for 48 years, with 32 years in Maryville. After retiring from MFA he started A+ Realty in Maryville, retiring from that in 2000. In 2000, he started his own rental business, which he managed until his death.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21st, from 6-8 PM, at Maryville First Baptist Church, where Funeral Services will take place Friday, at 11:00 AM.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 23rd at Robinson Cemetery, Weaubleau, MO.

Hall, Ricky Eugene - Ricky Eugene Hall, 60, Ravenwood, Missouri, died July 29, 2016, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph..

Ricky was born March 28, 1956, in Fort Scott, Kansas to Ralph Eugene and Beverly Darlene Kunkel Hall. They preceded him in death.

A 1974 graduate of Maryville High School, he was a Computer Programmer.

Surviving him are his brother James (Julie Saxton) Hall, Ravenwood and nephew Michael Hall, Maryville.

Heard, William Ephram - William Ephram Heard, 97, died Saturday in a Burlington Junction nursing home. He had lived here 15 years, coming here from Norwood, Mo.

Hemenway, Beulah Arlene Schultz - Beulah Arlene Hemenway, 91, of Rogers, AR, and formerly of Maryville, MO, passed from this life peacefully and in her bed on August 3, 2016, in Rogers.

Beulah was born on February 28, 1925, on the family farm near Merrill, IA. Her parents were Anna and Henry Schultz.

She attended kindergarten through 8th grade at Stanton Township #4 School, then graduated from Lemars Iowa High School, while living with relative during the week.

She obtained her Bachelors of Arts degree from Westmar College in Lemars, IA in 1950, and started teaching 5th grade at Ottawa, IA, until 1953.

During the summer of 1953, she left teaching for Sioux City, IA and participated in Summer Stock Theater at the Black Hills playhouse within Custer State Park run by the University of South Dakota. In 1954, she cared for her ailing Mother and began attending Nursing school at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City, IA. She obtained her RN Degree in nursing in 1956.

Beulah met Henry Hemenway during her nursing school graduation party. Henry was attending with his cousin who was a good friend of Beulah’s. She continued caring for her Mother while working at the Sioux City Hospital. She set up the pediatric nursing program at the hospital.

Beulah and Henry Hemanway were married on the 26th of May, 1957.
They continued to live in Sioux City until 1960, but would live summers at Mount Rushmore National Park, where Henry was a Park Ranger.

Their son Martin was born on January 15, 1960, and they moved to Bellevue, NE, where Beulah substitute taught and gave piano lessons, and Henry taught high school.

In 1962, Beulah took a RN position at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, NE, to enable Henry to finish his doctoral degree. She also taught at the Lincoln General School on Nursing from 1967-68.

In 1968, the family moved to Maryville after Henry accepted an education department position at NWMSU.

In Maryville, Beulah taught piano and took care of the home. She was active in the First United Methodist Church, and during the 1980’s was one the Nodaway County Health Center Nurses. She was also an Ombudsman at the Golden Living Health facility. She enjoyed knitting, reading, music, and her grandchildren.

Beulah was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Shultz of Merrill, IA, and her husband Henry on January 12, 2016.

She leaves behind her son, Martin Hemenway, daughter in law, Joan Collins Hemenway, grandson Collin Hemenway, and granddaughter, Jullian Hemenway, all of Rogers, AR; 3 nephews, 1 niece of the Schultz family.

Beulah has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, on September 3, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, MO. Joint burial services for Beulah and Henry will follow the service at the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville, MO.

Henry, Levi Judson Jr - Levi Judson (L J) Henry Jr., 90, of Ravenwood, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Maryville.

He was born July 17, 1926 in Ravenwood, to Levi Judson and Lola Mabel Stingley Henry.

L J was a 1944 graduate of Ravenwood High School and he served his country during World War II with the United States Navy.

He was a clerk, Postmaster and rural letter carrier for the Ravenwood Post Office. He and his brother Norvil ran Henry's Painting, also in Ravenwood.

L J was a member of the Nodaway Masonic Lodge #470, Maryville and the Curry-Richardson-Sparks-Waldeier American Legion Post #528, Parnell, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Norvil, Eldon, Maurice and Donald Henry and sister Gladys West.

Surviving him are his daughter Pamela (Bob) Hamler, Overland Park, Kansas; son Clyde Wayne (Beverly) Henry, Burlington Junction, MO; grandson Brian (Stacy) Bateman, Overland Park; step-grandson Andy (Nancy) Hamler, Folsom, California; two great-grandchildren: Lexi and Braden Bateman; four step-great-grandchildren: Julianne, Zachary, Nicholas, and Gwen Hamler; niece Kila Henry, Ravenwood and great-niece Shannon Greenfield.

Hopple, Dee Raymond - Dee Raymond Hopple, 76, died at 2 pm Friday at the St Francis Hospital, Maryville, where he had been a patient only a short time. He had suffered a long illness.

Mr Hopple was born Sep 6, 1886, near Clearmont, the son of the late William Hopple. He had lived in the Clearmont area all of his live and was a member of the Clearmont Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife, Olive, of the home; two daughters, Mrs Paul Ziegler, Toulon, Ill, and Mrs Elmer Devine, Clearmont; two brothers, Arnold Hopple, Galesburg, Ill, and Lloyd Hopple, Clearmont, and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Clearmont Methodist Church with the Rev L.E. Terpstra officiaing. Burial was in the Clearmont Cemetery.

Hann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Louise Huff, 78, of Bedford, Iowa, died Wednesday afternoon, December 29,1999 at the Bedford Nursing and Rehab Center, Bedford, Iowa, where she had resided since October 5,1998.
She was born January 19. 1921, near Elmo, Mo, the daughter of Walter and Viva Huff. Mary lived with her mother in Blanchard, Iowa for several years and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blanchard. On October 31, 1991 Mary and her mother moved to Bedford, Iowa to live with their son and brother Robert Huff. After her mother died in January of 1994, Mary continued to reside with Robert and Onolea Huff until she entered the nursing home.
Mary is survived by 3 brothers; Robert Huff arid wife Onolea, Bedford, Iowa; Jack Huff and wife Marcia of Weatherby, Mo; Richard Huff, Cameron, Mo, one sister Kathleen Rinehart, Centralia, MO, one sister-in-law, Pauline Huff, Nebraska City, NE and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norval Huff and a brother-in-law, John Rinehart.

Jackson, Barbara Anne Sumy - Barbara Anne Jackson, 76, Liberty, MO, formerly of Clearmont, MO went to Heaven Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Liberty Health and Wellness Rehabilitation Center, Liberty. She died as she had lived, with courage and grace.

Barbara was born September 30, 1939, in Sheridan, Missouri to William Harry and Neva Marie (Sparks) Sumy. She married Stephen Maurice Jackson September 7, 1958, in Skidmore, MO.

A 1957 graduate of Pickering, MO High School, she was a farm wife and she and Steve owned and operated the Maryville, MO H & R Block office for 32 years. She loved spending time with her family.

Barbara was a member of the Clearmont Methodist Church, and American Quarter Horse Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stephen Jackson (June 29, 2011), and sister Mary Evelyn Florea.

Johnson, Mary A. Dewton - Mary A. Johnson, 96, of Skidmore, MO, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, MO.

Mary was born on January 21, 1920, in Skidmore, MO. Her parents were Myron B. and Jessie Mildred Dawson Newton. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her husband Birt Johnson, in 2013; her siblings, Leona Newton, Homer Newton, Fred Newton, Lou Diggs, J.E. "Hooker" Newton, George Newton, Beth Bonner, Dixie Collin, Judy Flynn, and Myron Bolivar "M.B." Newton, Jr., and Jerry Newton, both in infancy; son in law, James W. Wilson, and grandson Ryan Serfoss.

Mary graduated from the Skidmore High School, class on 1938. In her 50's, she graduated from the 2nd LPN program from NWMSU, in Maryville. She worked for many years as a LPN at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.

Her memberships included the Skidmore Christain Church, and the Skidmore Chapter of O.E.S.

She married Birt H. Johnson, on October 23, 1938, in Skidmore and he passed away on May 1, 2013. Apart from a few months the family spent in San Diego, CA, she lived all her life in Skidmore.

Mary leaves behind her 2 daughters, Connie Wilson, Centennial, CO, and Sharon (Kenny) Strauch, Skidmore, MO; 4 grandchildren, Kelly (Brett) Coffelt, Kansas City, MO, Casey (Angie) Strauch, Salem, NE, Tama Serfoss, Westminster, CO, and Tyson Serfoss, Lakewood, CO; her sister, Inez Boyer, St. Joseph, MO; 5 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, sister in law Elizabeth Newton, Maryville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kent, Beverly Pauline Trosper - Beverly Pauline Kent, 88, Elmo, MO, died August 11, 2016, at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, MO.

Beverly was born January 4, 1928, in Omaha, Nebraska to Everett and Roberta Calfee Trosper.

A 1946 graduate of Elmo High School, she was a post mistress in Elmo.
She married Harry W. Kent June 10, 1946.

Beverly was a member of the Elmo United Methodist Church, Bradley Carver American Legion Auxiliary #492.

Preceding her in death was her husband Harry (June 10, 1986), parents, and son David Kent and a brother.

Knapp, Marguerite K. Groeteke - Marguerite K. (Groeteke) Knapp received her Crown of Glory on Sunday, August 7, 2016. She had been a patient at St. Francis Hospital for five days.

Marguerite was born October 19, 1919 in Hooper, NE to Arthur and Kate (Knuth) Groeteke. She graduated high school in Hooper, NE in 1937 and obtained a two-year teaching certificate from Midland College, Fremont, NE in 1939. She taught in rural one-room schoolhouses in the Hooper/Scribner area for two years before heading off to Buffalo, NY to work in a WWII ammunition plant. In 1943 she enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Motor Transport Division at Camp Lejeune, NC. Upon her discharge from the Marines she moved to Denver, CO where she worked in secretarial positions with the VA.

While living in Denver she met Robert E. "Chick" Knapp while he was studying to be a chiropractor. They were married on June 24, 1947 in Fremont, NE. After "Doc" finished school they moved to SW Missouri, later relocating to Maryville in 1956.

Marguerite was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church, participating in various offices within the church as well as with the church's national women's organization The Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She served her community as a member of the Maryville Park Board and enjoyed watching the development and improvement in the area parks. Even in her later years driving around town and seeing what was being done in the local parks brought her great joy. She also served as an election official during many different elections.

Marguerite is survived by three daughters: Margo Knapp, MD, Brookline, MA, Diane Tobin and husband Dick, Maryville, and Deaconess Betty Knapp, Marquette, MI; two grandsons: Todd Tobin and wife Malinda, and Jeremy Tobin and wife Betsy; great-grandchildren Taylor, Tanner, Torri and Ty; step-grandson Jason Tobin and wife Emily; step-great-grandchildren Zachary and Audrey.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband "Doc" Knapp, infant son Stanley Paul Knapp, brother Delmer Groeteke and sister Rose Farr.

Funeral Services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville on Thursday, August 11 at 11 am. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:30 am. Burial is in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.

Donnald L. Koger, 65, of rural Clearmont, Mo, died at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha early Tuesday morning (Jan. 5, 1988) shortly after being taken there from the Shenandoah hospital. He had become ill at his home earlier in the evening and taken to the Shenandoah hospital.
He was born April 11, 1922, near Clearmont, the son of James Elma and Myrtle Sexson Koger.
Mr. Koger was a veteran of WWII and a life long farmer.
On Nov. 29, 1943 he was married to Doris Koger who survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Lavelle and Tracy Koger, both of rural Clearmont. There are five grandchildren. Brothers are Verlin of Clearmont, Mo. Eldon of Hop­kins, Mo. and Basil of Burlington Junction, Mo. Sisters are Pauline Porterfield, Hopkins, Mo; Irene Hayes, Clearmont, Mo; Wilma Hess, Maryville, Mo; Bonnie Snively, Skidmore, Mo; and Leona Maye Nicholson, Hopkins, Mo.
He was preceded in death by parents and a sister, Leila Ingels.

Kuborn, Louise Gertrude, Sister - Sr. Louise Gertrude Kuborn, Clyde, Missouri, died on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Our Lady of Rickenbach, Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration, Clyde.

Sr. Louise was born February 23, 1934 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, the daughter of Matthias and Agatha Berendsen Kuborn.

A graduate Kaukauna High School, she joined the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration in 1952, and was given the name Sr. Mary Mark. She made her First Profession of Vows February 11, 1954 and her Perpetual Vows March 12, 1959. On April 10, 1971, she changed her name to her baptismal name of Louise Gertrude Kuborn.

Sr. Louise transferred to the congregations of San Diego, Mundelein, St. Louis, Tucson, St. Louis, and returned to Clyde in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers: Lawrence, Francis Paul and Jerome Karl Kuborn.

Survivors include her Monastic family and cousin Deacon Jerry and Karen Kuborn.

Lake, Kristy Michele Hamm - Kristy Michele Lake, 48, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, as the result of an auto accident east of Maryville, MO.

Kristy was born in St. Joseph, MO, on July 29, 1968. Her parents were Tom and Christine (Queen) Hamm. They preceded her in death. She had been a resident of Maryville since 2004, and prior to that in St. Joseph, MO.

She was a graduate of Lafayette High School, St. Joseph, and had worked in the health care field. She had attended Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

On August 18, 1998, Kristy was united in marriage to Jimmy Allen Lake, in St. Joseph, MO. He survives of the home in Maryville.

Other survivors include her children, Brandi (Corey) Hager, Maryville, and Whitney Lake, Maryville; siblings, Robert Hamm, Rhonda (Mason) Fickle, Timmy (Rocky) Hamm, and Kenny Hamm; 3 grandchildren, Taylor Hager, Audrey Garnett, and Ciara Hager; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leonard, Mary Annette Dolores, Sister - Sister Mary Annette Leonard OSB, 86, of Clyde, Missouri passed away on June 18, 2016 at Our Lady of Rickenbach Center in Clyde.

Annette Dolores Leonard was born August 23, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Martin and Anna (O’Toole) Leonard. Annette received her Elementary and High School education in Pittsburg.

Annette joined the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration December 28, 1948 and made her First Profession on September 8, 1950 and Final Vows on September 8, 1955. She had worked in the Altar bread ministry as a Portress and in the correspondence department. Sister enjoyed writing a column for the Maryville Forum for several years.

Sr. Mary Annette was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Marie Leonard, Kay Leonard Russell, Margaret Leonard Luke, Lee Leonard Johnson, Dorothy Jenereski, and her brother Martin Leonard.

Survivors include her Monastic Community; and sisters: Judy Gerber and Phyllis Galisin and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs Ina May Adkins Martin was born October 18, 1874 to Mr and Mrs W.H. Adkins. She was united in marriage to John F. Martin, October 28, 1892 and to this union seven children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children, Mr John F. Martin, Nellie and Russell Martin, Mrs Martin died at the home of her daughter Mrs Gerald Porter of Burlington Jct., Mo [Feb 27, 1966].

McCollum, Ada Griffey Bever - Mrs Ada McCollum, 80, near Clearmont, died at 3:25 am Wednesday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Sam Ripley, northweast of Clearmont.

A resident of the Burlington Jct and Clearmont communities her entire life, she had moved last fall from Burlington Jct to Clearmont. Due to illness, she had been cared for at Mrs Ripley's home since Nov 17. She was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church.

Mrs McCollum was born Jan 30, 1882, at Clearmont, the daughter of Gool Griffey and Roella Crowdes Griffey. She was married Jan 21, 1900 to Fred Bever, wo died Oct 11, 1921. She married Clarence McCollum, who died Jan 20, 1956.

In addition to the daughter, survivors are three sons, Earl, Paul and Leland Bever, Clearmont; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a brother, Carl Griffey, Moberly.

Services were held Thursday for Mrs Ada McCollum 80, who had died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs Sam Ripley, in the Clearmont vicinity. Her home had been in the Clearmont and Burlington Junction areas, but had been under care since an illness Nov 17.

Her former husband, Fred Bever, died in 1921, and she was married to Clarence McCollum who died in 1956. Three sons, Earl, Paul and Leland Bever, in addition to the daughter are among the survivors.

Oberhauser, Carole Coleen Morehouse - Carole Coleen Morehouse Oberhauser, was born October 1, 1936 in rural Hopkins, Missouri to Harold Faye and Bessie Broyles Morehouse.

On February 17, 1961 she was united in marriage to Norman Lawrence Oberhauser. This union was blessed with four children, Marla Jean, Norman Shane, Karol Kane and Jackie Laine.

Carole spent her entire life in Hopkins, Missouri. She attended the Unity Country School and Hopkins High School, graduating with the class of 1954.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, on December 19, 1999; her parents; four brothers: Jackie, Ronald, Richard and Gene and two sisters: Marjorie Walston and Leota Anderson

She is survived by her children: Marla (Kurby) Bovard, Norman Shane (Janette) Oberhauser,

Osborn, Charles "Charlie" - Charles "Charlie" Osborn, 75, of Ravenwood, MO passed away July 28, 2016 at Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville, surrounded by his loving family.

Charlie was born September 8, 1940 in Gentry County MO, to Donald and Eileen Carter Osborn. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, brother-in-law Bill Kemery, his in-laws Russell and Elizabeth Kemery, brother-in-law Willard Turnipseed, and sister-in-law Jean Hall.

Charlie was a 1958 graduate of Stanberry High School. He served his country in the army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.
He was a member of the Ravenwood United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Stanberry Masonic Lodge No. 109 AF & AM of Stanberry, MO.

He drove semis for many years before becoming a paramedic in 1986, working at Gentry, Nodaway and Andrew County Ambulance Districts. He retired in 2002, then worked as a bus driver for the Northeast Nodaway School District in addition to hauling grain for Meyer Farms.


On June 28, 1975 in Ravenwood, MO, he married Peggy Lavon Kemery. She survives of the home.
Other survivors are Charlie and Peggy's three children: Jennifer Linville of Ravenwood, Chrissy (Josh) Emery of Ravenwood, and Nathan (Cassie) Osborn of Maryville, six grandchildren; Shelby and Sarah Linville, Peyton and Spencer Weir, and Gage and Chloe Emery, one brother; Mick (Deloris) Osborn of Agency, MO, one sister-in-law; Donna (Elijah) Dailey of Mercer, MO, one brother-in-law; Albert Hall of Ravenwood, MO, and his faithful companion, Rusty.

Caroline was born March 9, 1931, in Grand Island, Nebraska to John J. and Freda Werner Gorham.

A graduate of St. John's High School, Omaha NE, she was a retired Med-Aide.

She married Donald Wayne Pettit on Saturday, July 23, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Caroline was a member of the St . Ann's Catholic Church in Logan.

Cheryl was born on July 6, 1952, in Big Spring, Texas. Her parents were Thomas and Cora (Haws)
Thurman, and preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her father-in-law, Robert Piveral, a sister-in-law, Pam Piveral, and uncle, Stan Yoder

She was a 21 year employee of Walmart.

On June 21, 1986, in Tucson, Arizona, Cheryl was united in
marriage to Jesse Leroy Piveral. He survives on the home in Maryville.

Frances was born June 8, 1931, in Skidmore, MO, to Elmer O. and Alfreda Lucretia Ross Day.

A 1949 graduate of Quitman High School, she formerly was an Administrator for Noah's Ark Daycare and a Supervisor for Food Service at Northwest Missouri State Univeristy. She was a member of the Maryville Community of Faith Church.

Frances and Charles Vance Plymell were married June 17, 1950, in Maryville.

Preceding her in death: her husband Charles (August 28, 2015), son Charles Edwin Plymell, and brothers Doyle and Eugene Day.

Rogers, Kenneth Dean - Kenneth Dean Rogers, 89, Wellsville, KS, and formerly of Clearmont and Skidmore, MO areas, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, at a health care facility in Wellsville.

Dean was born in Clearmont, MO, on October 20, 1926. He lived in Cleamont, then in Skidmore, MO from 1976 to 2012, when he moved to Kansas. His parents were Kennard and Elyda (Turpin) Rogers. They preceded him in death, as well as 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and his great grandson Garrett Buck.

Dean graduated from the Clearmont High School. He was a foreman with MoDOT, and retired after 43 years on the job. He was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church, the Burlington Junction Masonic Lodge and O.E.S. He was also a leader in the Boys Scouts of America.

He liked to read, watch westerns on T.V., to travel to Branson, MO and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

On November 6, 1976, Dean was united in marriage to Norma Jean Gannon, at the Clearmont Missouri Methodist Church.

His survivors include his wife, Jean Rogers, of the home in Kansas; 7 children, Connie (Steve) Hintze, Kansas City, MO, Rick (Velma) Rogers, Edwardsville, KS, Janet (Bill) Miller, Kansas City, MO, Gary (Cynthia) Weaver, Willard, NM, Randy (Linda) Rogers, Neosho, MO, Larry Weaver, Princeton, MO, and Cathy (Steve) Ghale, Edgerton, MO; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; and his brother, Kennard “Buddy” Rogers, Lawrence, KS.

Roush, Harold Russell - Harold Russell Roush, 89, formerly of Maryville, Missouri and Corning, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Presbyterian Homes of Louisville, Kentucky.

Harold was born September 11, 1926, in Siam, Page County, Iowa the son of Lester and Ruby (Riley) Roush. After graduating from High School in Maryville, Missouri, he joined the US Navy and served in the Asiatic Pacific area during WW II.

Upon returning from the service Harold married Marie Mothershead in Maryville on May 30, 1948.

After working for J.C. Penney as a representative for Singer Sewing Company, he purchased a grocery store in Burlington Junction, Missouri. From there he moved to Corning, Iowa and worked for Omar Bakeries, Keebler Bakeries, Hawkeye Life Insurance Company and retired from Hy-Vee Food Stores.

Harold was a member of the Adams County American Legion Post #3659, Corning and the First United Methodist Church of Maryville, where he and Marie moved after his retirement.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his sisters: Laberta Palmer and Loraine Freemyer.

She was born Sunday, January 3, 1934, Santa Rosalia, Camargo, Mexico, the daughter of Juan and Cecilia (Carbojal) Soto.

A High School graduate, Sr. Mary Frances had completed an English Correspondence course and was bi-lingual. She joined the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration on September 3, 1967. She made her First Profession of Vows on April 2, 1970 and her Final Profession on April 8, 1975.

Sr. Mary Frances had many duties in her monastic life including working in the Altar Bread department.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Cleofas Sota Sotelo; Maria Cecilia Soto, Martha, Alicia, Eluteria and brothers: Samuel, Pedro, Lamberto and Jose Soto.

Survivors include her Monastic family; one sister: Elvira Soto Carbojal and brothers: Lorenzo, Santiago, Jesus, Juan and Antonio Soto.

Spratt, Martha Eva Marsh - Martha Eva, daughter of Mary Ellen and John Marsh, was born April 10, 1885 at Stoneboro, Pennsylvania and departed this life at St Francis hospital in Maryville, Mo, at 12:25 pm, June 9th, 1966 at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 29 days.

In 1910 she moved from Bakersfield, Calif to Westboro, Missouri and on June 28, 1911 she was united in marriage to Winfield Scott Spratt who passed away October 20th, 1962. To this union three children were born, Eugene H. Spratt of Burlington Jct., Mo., Winfield S. Spratt of Los Angeles, Calif., and Charles Ralph Spratt of Tarkio, Missouri.

Besides these three sons, she leaves one step daughter Mrs Jerrine Bredensteiner of Northboro, Iowa, two sisters, Mrs Mary E. Phillips and Mrs Florence E. Yarger, both of Los Angeles, Calif, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In early life she was affiliated with the Christian church.

She has been a resident of the Burlington Jct., community for 46 years and in failing health for the past six years.

Funeral services for Martha Eva Spratt was held Sunday June 12th at the Burlington Jct., Christian Church.

Pallbearers were: Virgil Hagey, W.R. Miller, Harold White, Donald Fast, Lyman McIntyre, Jess Handley.

In charge of flowers were: Mrs Mervin Jones, Mrs Lyman McIntyre, Mrs Irvin Fast, Mrs Fred Hoffman, Mrs Leslie Walter, Mrs Harley Miller.

Harry Barr and Fred Hoffman served as ushers. Organist, Mrs Eldon Asbell, soloist, Mrs John Curfman, songs "Abide With Me: and "Beyond the Sunset."

Burial was in the Ohio Cemetery, with Kern's Funeral Home in charge.

Staples, Audrey Boyer - Mrs Audrey Staples, wife of Harold O. Staples, died Wednesday morning at a Kansas City Hospital. [Feb 1966]

Mrs Staples was born June 26th, 1909, the daughter of Gerald and Beulah Hood Boyer. She was married October 14, 1928 to Harold O. Staples.

In addition to her husband, suriviors include a son, Donald Staples, Burlington Junction, a daughter, Mrs Sterling Evans, Overland Park, Kansas, two sisters, Mrs C.D. Clark, Burlington Junction and Mrs Irene Thompson, Kansas City, a brother, Herschel Boyer, Kansas City, three grandaughters and one grandson.

The body was returned from Kansas City to the Spainhower-Kerns Funeral Home.

The funeral will be today at 2:00 pm at the Burlington Junction Methodist church with the Rev C.C. Pritchard officiating. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery.

Strueby, Thomas Gregory - Thomas Gregory Strueby, 83, Conception Junction, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016.

Tom was born March 10, 1933, in Clyde, MO to Emil and Anna Schwebach Strueby. He and Kathryn Lucille Allen were marred August 31, 1957, in the Conception Basilica, Conception, MO.

Tom proudly served in the US Army from April 22, 1953 until April 8, 1955, obtaining the rank of Corporal.

A 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School, he was a farmer, and retired after 60 years as a bricklayer.

A member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community,Maryville, he also belonged to the Tri-C American Legion Post #464,Conception Junction; Bricklayers Local #5, Chapter 15, Kansas City, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents, son Gregory Strueby ( October 4, 2013), brothers Sylvester and John Strueby and sister Mary Ann McGary.

Surviving Tom is his wife Kay, of their home in Conception Junction; children: David (Jennifer) Strueby, Maryville and Jeffrey (Rhonda) Strueby, Conception Jct.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother Ed (Joan) Strueby, La Marque, TX; sisters: Teresa Wiederholt, Stanberry, MO, Dorothy Kohlleppel, Parnell, MO, Rita Biastock, Joplin, MO and Cecilia Snyder, Lansing, KS; sisters-in-law: Madonna Strueby, Conception, Rita Strueby, Stanberry, Judy Lyons and Shirley Allen, both of Maryville; and nieces and nephews.

A Parish Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM, Friday, September 2, 2016, at St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction. It will be followed by a visitation from 5:30-7:30 PM.

Funeral Services will be 9:00 AM, Saturday, September 3, 2016, at St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, Missouri with burial in St. Columba Cemetery, Conception. Military Honors will be provided by Missouri Military Honors and Tri-C American Legion Post #464.

Thompson, James Edward "Jim" - James Edward Thompson was born Jan 12, 1922 in Pleasant Hope, Mo the son of Thomas and Oma Inez Kerr Thompson. He passed away at his home in Kansas City, Mo on Aug 27, 1986 at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 15 days.

In 1930 he came to the Fairfax community with his family and attended the Fairfax schools. He later worked in the Fairfax area and was employed as a truck driver.

In 1942 he was united in marriage to Theo Fern Allison and to this union two daughters, Judy and Nancy were born.

On Nov 23, 1942 he entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge on Jan 8, 1946 he returned to Fairfax and worked for Stoner Welding. For two years he lived and worked in Kansas City for General Motors, returning to Fairfax in 1952 where he began work as a mason and bricklayer for Wilbert Dunmire. He continued this work until his retirement in 1983 and had moved to Kansas City several years ago.

He is survived by his daughters, Mrs Judy Dixon of Kansas City, Ks; and Mrs Dennis (Nancy) Bartles of Rock Port; two sisters and one brother, Mrs John (Vera) Armstrong, Hamburg, Ia; Mrs Maude Norton, Fairfax; Delmar Thompson, Rock Port; three grandchildren and one great grandson.

Besides his parents and wife, Theo, who died in Dec 1964, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Oscar Smith, age 88, of Sioux City, Iowa formerly of Clarinda, Iowa passed away Tuesday, Au­gust 22, 2000 at St. Luke's Hos­pital in Sioux City, Iowa. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2000, at the Siam Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Chrouser officiating and Masonic rites by Plumb Lodge A.F. & A.M. #285 of Siam, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Plumb Lodge, Siam, Iowa. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Oscar was born December 27, 1911, a mile east of Siam, Iowa. His parents were Ira and Pearl Davison Smith. Oscar attended grade school at Siam, Iowa, and was a graduate of Clarinda High School. He married Thelma Selders July 22, 1941, she pre­ceded him in death February 4, 1983. To this union a daughter, Judy Kay was born. Oscar was united in marriage to Mildred Graves, September 24, 1984, she preceded him in death in 1998. He was a 50 year member of Masonic Plumb Lodge A.F. & A.M. #285 at Siam, Iowa.
Survivors include one grand­son and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Belle Hardee of Clarinda, Iowa, Arline Custer of Clarinda, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, wives, daughter, Judy Kay, May 11, 1990, brothers Joe, Howard, Lester, sisters, Lucille Finley, Emsy Clark and Lavina Jackson.

Tobin, Thomas Patrick "Pat" - Father Pat Tobin, 86, Olathe, KS, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at Villa St. Francis in Olathe.

He was born June 10, 1930, in Maryville, MO to Francis Vaughn and Nora (Kelly) Tobin. A 1948 graduate of Maur Hill High School, Atchison, KS, he continued his education at St. Benedict's College, Atchison, graduating in 1952. He was then ordained in 1956, after 4 years Theology at Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, MO.

Father Pat served in many parishes, including St. Joseph, MO Cathedral, Visitation, Risen Christ, St. Louis, Christ the King, all in Kansas City, MO; Coronation in Grandview, St. Munchin in Cameron and retired from St. Therese in Kansas City.

He helped found Harvesters Food Bank, gave retreats to sisters of Mother Theresa, did prison Ministry and helped other Social Justice concerns, especially with Catholic Charities.

Preceding him in death were his parents; infant brothers, Kieran Joseph Tobin and Terrance Tobin; brother, John Tobin; sister-in-law Carlotta Tobin and brother-in-law Geary Mahr.

Father Pat is survived by brothers: J. Kelly (Irene) Tobin, Maurice (Joan) Tobin, Father Chuck Tobin, and sister Mary Tobin Mahr; numerous nephews, nieces and his fellow priests of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, MO.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, June 27th at St. Therese Parish, 7207 NW Hwy 9, Kansas City MO 64152, with a Prayer Service to follow at 7:00 PM.

The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 28th, also at St. Therese Parish, led by Father Chuck Tobin with Bishop James Johnston.

Graveside Service is in Maryville, MO at 3:30 PM, Tuesday, June 28th at St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Weldon, Kurby [G. Kurby] - G. Kurby Weldon, 61, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, with his family at his side.

Kurby was born on November 25, 1954, in Maryville, MO. His parents are George Calvin Weldon and Helen Marie Stanton Weldon. He was a resident of this area all his life.

He graduated from Nodaway Holt High School in 1973, and got his diploma in H.V.A.C. in Omaha, NE. For the past 35 years he owned and operated Weldon's Tree Service in the area.

Kurby was of the Methodist faith. He was a former Maryville Jaycee member, and member of the Elk's Lodge #760, Maryville. In the 70's and 80's, Kurby enjoyed racing at the Thunder Valley Speedway in Bethany. He was an amazing left handed archery shooter and once took 8th in the Nationals in Omaha, NE. He enjoyed bowling and liked to hunt and fish, and passed that skill to his children and grandchildren.

On June 7, 1975, Kurby was united in marriage to Vickie Lee VanSickle, at the First United Methodist Church in Maryville. She survives of the home.

He is also survived by his 2 children, Amy (Brad) Wolf, Barnard, MO, and Adam (Sherra) Weldon, Maryville, MO; 7 grandchildren, Layla, Micah, Hadley, and Zoey Wolf, and Addison, Brinslee, and Harper Weldon; his father, George (Eldora) Weldon, Graham, MO; his mother, Helen Weldon, Maryville, MO; and his sister Wanda Knauer, Ft. Collins, CO.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The burial will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 PM, Monday, July 18, 2016, at the funeral home.
