Clements, Bradie Lee -
On Thursday, November 23, 1995 while most families were watching the KC Chiefs and enjoying their afternoon Thanksgiving dinners, Bradie Lee Clements was born to Darren and Angela (Aley) Clements. From the moment Bradie came into this world until the minute he left us on April 20, 2015 to join his maternal grandparents, Robert and Roberta Aley, in Heaven, Bradie never stopped moving. He kept his parents always wondering where is Bradie, where did these new dogs come from or who put the milk jug back in the refrigerator completely empty?? And their loving response was always the same…”That’s just Bradie”. If you knew Bradie, you knew that there was always somewhere to go and always something to do…and his friends and family all knew that when you asked what his plans were his response was always the same, “I am busy, bud…” Bradie lived up to his favorite Ford motto…”The Best Never Rest…”
To most of his 2014 MHS classmates, Bradie was known “Country Clem” because he always had on dirty cowboy boots, a dog box in the back of his truck and he loved anything that allowed him to be out in the country, running his favorite coonhound Jake or tearing down a back country road to his favorite fishing hole. Bradie was honest and hardworking having worked for Nodaway County Veterinary Clinic during his junior and senior high school years. He loved the time he got to spend working with Drs. Joe and Ed Powell. Bradie won an FFA award during his junior year for working over 1600 hours while being a full time student. After high school, Bradie accepted a position as a summer laborer for MoDOT and was proud the day he completed getting his CDL license. In the last month, Bradie was hired to work 2nd shift machining at Kawasaki Motors, to follow the footsteps set by his father. More than anything, in the fall of 2014 Bradie met a girl, Miss Katie Beck, who was the one and only girl to ever get Bradie to slow down and together they had started to build a life together…Bradie was forever a better man for having met Katie.
Bradie played football from Kindergarten through his sophomore year of high school, was a 4 year FFA member but was most proud of his membership in various coon hunting clubs, including the Nodaway County Coon Hunters Association and Northwest Missouri Coon Hunter’s Association. There was nothing Bradie enjoyed more than running his dogs and competing in night hunts…
Bradie leaves behind his parents, his younger brothers Blake (16) and Benjamin (13), paternal grandparents, Richard Clements, Pickering, and Leareta (Harris) Clements, Pickering, girlfriend, Katie Beck, Fairfax and many aunts, uncles, cousins – as well as an entire community of friends and fellow coon hunters throughout NE, IA, MO, KS and OK.
Bradie is in Heaven now smiling down upon us all…driving a loud Ford truck, he’s got a couple Walker coon hounds in the dog box, and is headed out to dump the dogs for one more run…as another competition hunter stated….”rest easy, young man, your entry fees have been paid in full.”
Monetary donations can be made to Citizen’s Bank & Trust – Maryville care of the “Bradie Clements Memorial Fund” to establish a pay-it-forward program in our community.
Visitation will be at Bram’s Funeral Home – Maryville - Friday, April 24th from 6-8 pm ~ Funeral will be at Laura Street Baptist Church – Maryville – Saturday, April 25th @ 10:30 am ~ Burial will be at Miriam Cemetery - Maryville

Olsen, Vernon H. - An old duffer tapped in his final putt and headed for that great 19th hole in the sky. Vernon H. Olsen passed away April 26, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. For 88 years, Vern lived a wonderful life enriched by the love of family, faith and country.
He was born May 14, 1926 in Powhattan, KS, the oldest of four children to Hans Christian (aka H.C.) and Ruth (Ross) Olsen. Vern grew up on the eighty acre farm in Hiawatha, KS and attended a country grade school close by. He graduated from Powhatton High School at the age of 17, traveling to Minnesota to work till he could enlist at 18 in the U.S. Navy in August, 1944. He went to basic training in Great Lakes IL, and trained in gunnery maintenance before receiving his orders to go overseas. Experiencing different cultures and witnessing poverty and human suffering left an imprint on him and made him appreciate what he had and thankful that he lived in America. He had several jobs while serving on both the LCI 24 and 29 and the LST 585, but the one he spoke of the most was when he was the lookout for floating mines on the ocean’s surface. Vernon had to be on his toes and avoid putting the ship in danger. In one horrific incident, he was nearly drowned when there was a hurricane. This story would be the one that always gave him pause as to why God had spared his life whereas others were not so lucky.
Upon his release in 1946, he attended K State earning a degree in agricultural engineering. After graduating in 1950, he began his career in the seed business becoming a salesman and eventually plant manager. On June 7, 1952 he married the love of his life, Letoy LaClair and together they raised six children. They originally lived in St. Joseph then due to job changes, moved to Grinnell IA, Trenton MO and in 1976, finally settled down in Maryville MO. He loved hunting and would say that he never ever had difficulty falling asleep as all he would do is think about one of his best days out hunting pheasant and he would fall asleep happy. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, card playing and “going on a lark” (aka casino). One of his favorite pastimes was striking up a conversation with anyone everywhere he went. He has left a wonderful example to all that knew him how to face adversity head on and overcome any difficulties life throws you by having a positive attitude. His wife will say that she can “write a book” filled with funny stories that have accumulated over the years about Dad and his crazy happenstances. We will miss his laugh most of all.
Survivors include his wife, Letoy, his children, Debbie (Kenny) Thompson, Nancy (Ed) Caddell, Gail (Rob) Schultz, Brian (Jan) Olsen, Chris (Caroline) Olsen, and Matt (Colleen) Olsen along with seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and brothers Claire (Carolyn) Olsen and Bob Olsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Doris Eames.
