Patience Ruth Bagley, 90, Maryville, formerly of Elmo, Missouri, died Sunday, January 05, 2014, at Golden Living Center, Maryville.

Patience was born April 1, 1923, in Maryville, Missouri. Her parents were Floyd Marcus and Margaret Ruth (Hopper) Bagley. They lived in Leoti, Kansas, but Margaret came to her parents in Maryville to have the baby because of the distance to the Hospital in Kansas.

She was precededed in death by her parents, and her three year old sister Frances Marilla Bagley. The family moved to Elmo, Missouri in 1931.

Patience graduated from Elmo High School in 1941. She went to Maryville and took a county test and taught school the next year in the rural grade school, Union Grove that was located directly across the road from her parent's home. She attended Northwest Missouri State Univeristy for two years and South West Missouri State University for one year and later graduated from Colorado State University at Greeley, Colorado. Patience was a teacher, retiring after 32 years in the teaching profession, having taught at Elmo, Jewelsburg, Colorado, Mitchell, Nebraska, Clearmont, Missouri, Albany, Missouri and Union Star, Missouri where she spent twenty five years.

Patience was a lifetime member of the Elmo United Methodist Church, where after retirement she taught Adult Sunday School Class for many years. She had also served four years as President of United Methodist Women. Other groups included the Missouri Teachers Association and Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and the Nodaway County Historical Society.

Survivors include several cousins, one of which is Wayne (Dixie) James, Elmo, Missouri.

Chrystal Barnes, 86, formerly of Elmo, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 12, 1994, at the Community Hospital, Fairfax, Mo. Funeral services will be Friday,Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Elmo, with burial at the High Prairie Cemetery near Elmo.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel, Burlington Junction, Mo. The family has suggested memorials for the United Methodist Church.
She was born Nov. 22, 1909, in Page County, Iowa, to Aca and Blance Gates Akin.       
She married Olin Barnes Feb, 12, 1929, at Clarinda and they shared 56 years of marriage. They moved to Atchison County at that time and purchased a farm in 1945 where they lived until 1976 when they retired and moved to Elmo. She lived in Elmo until 1987 when she went to the care center at Rock Port to make her home.
She graduated from the Elmo High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elmo, and of the United Methodist Women, the Atchison County Extension Council and a member of the North Starlett Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Olin, in 1985 and a grandson, Curtis Barnes.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Barnes, Westboro, Mo.; a daughter, Bonnie Sharp, Tacoma, Wa.; two brothers, Lowell Akin, Graham, Mo., and Lisle Akin, Clearmont, Mo; three sisters, Marjorie Kelley, Clarinda; RuthWhigham, Ames; and Anna Belle Neff, Everton, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Minnie N. Braden, 81, of Maryville, passed away Friday Feb. 21, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Maryville.

Minnie was born Oct. 20, 1932 in Indiana. Her parents Levi Wolf and Dorothy (Noe) Wolf. She was beloved wife of Harold Lee Braden until his passing in 1998. Minnie was a homemaker.

Proceeded in death by her parents, husband and son, Harold Lee Braden Jr.

Mrs.Geraldine Brown, 84, of Elmo, Mo. died Friday, October 15,1993 at Maryville, Care Center, Maryville, Mo.  
She was born November 10,1908, near Elmo, Mo. She was a homemaker. She married Lewis R. Brown Sr. December 22, 1928 in Clarinda. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of the Elmo United Methodist Church and the Hazel Grove Social Club.
Survivors include three children: Lewis Brown Jr., Elmo, Mo.; Fern Stevens, Coin and Lulabelle Karr of Lubbock, Tx. There are five granchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister Faye Neff of Maryville, Mo. and one brother Melvin Baker of Springfield, Ma.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Leslie, Dale, Roy, and Donald Baker and two sisters, Pansy Kerns and Mary Crowdes.

She was bom September 7, 1914 near Blanchard, the daughter of Will and Mae Bayles Twaddles.
She was married to Forrest (Bill) Cowan on October 2,1933. She was a housewife.
Surviving are her husband Bill of Elmo, one son, Marvin Cowan of Elmo, six grandchildren; brothers, Robert Twaddle of Albuquerque, NM, Glen Twaddle of Elmo, and Melvin Twaddle of California, Mo.

Forrest J. "Bill" Cowan, 80, died Wednesday. October 13, 1993 at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital.
He was born October 31, 1912, at Tarkio, Mo. to Edward J. and Eva VanFosson Cowan. He married Anna Mae Twaddle, October 2, 1933 and she preceded him in death September 19,1993. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic.
Survivors include one son, Marvin Cowan, Elmo, Mo.: six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Cowan, Glenwood; two sisters, Faye Jones, Nebo, Mo. and Lula Hickman. Harve, Mt. and two half sisters, Helen Maust, New Albin and Dorothy Bockman, California.

Deffenbaugh, Lila Lee Sakellaris - Lila Lee Deffenbaugh, 85, Skidmore, Missouri, died Monday, January 20, 2014, at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

She was born in Boulder, Colorado October 16, 1928, to the late Jack and Hazel (Sipes) Sakellaris.

Lila graduated from Boulder, Colorado High School and attended nursing school, becoming a nurseaide for 30 years with Nodaway Nursing Home. Maryville.

She married William Claude Deffenbaugh in 1960 in Boulder. He preceded her in death in 1982.

Survivors include a son Rick Deffenbaugh and granddaughter Shania Deffenbaugh, all of Braddyville, Iowa.

Graveside services and burial will be 10:30 am, Thursday, January 23, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore.

Eugene R. Doran of Maryville passed away on January 15, 2014 at his home.

Gene was born January 20, 1924 in Clyde, Mo. to William and Agnes (McCann) Doran.

He married Patricia L. Schuster on February 26, 1949. They were married 64 years.

After graduating from Horace Mann High School, he attended NWMSU for 2 years until enlisting in the US Navy July 9,1943 and began pilot training. After training at multiple air stations, he was designated a Naval Aviator on February 14, 1945. He became Aircraft Carrier certified on the Solomon's Island carrier based in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, flying TBF Grumman Avenger torpedo bombers. He was discharged November 6,1945 as Lieutenant (J.G.).

Following military service, Gene returned to farming in 1945 where he retired in 1980. He was a lifelong member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church and the Men's Forum, Maryville.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Patricia of the home; son, Mark Stephen Doran (Gretchen) Cape Coral, Florida; daughter, Nancy Doran Cobb (George) Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren Ryan Doran (Danielle) Broadview Heights, Ohio; Jeremy Doran (Lauren), Granville, Ohio; Robert Doran (Kristyn) Chesapeake, Virginia and Cambrin Cobb of Kansas City, Missouri. Eugene is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren; Madison Doran, Broadview Heights, Ohio; Gavyn Doran & Holden Doran, Chesapeake, Virginia; and Rylee Doran, Granville, Ohio.

Other surviving family members include 2 brothers, James (Esther) Joplin, Missouri; Charles (Maxine) Tipton, Indiana; and 1 sister, Mary Lou Gilbert, Tipton, Indiana.

Eugene was preceded in death by 2 brothers William B. Doran, Jr. and Marvin R. Doran.

A Parish Rosary will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014, at St. Gregorys Catholic Church with a visitation following at 1:30 PM.

Bonnie Jean Dougan, 87, of Ravenwood, MO, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Hearltand Hospital, in St. Joseph, MO.

Bonnie was born on March 12, 1926, in St. Joseph, MO, to Carl Bernard and Alma Doris (Cook) Sherry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Virginia Cordonier; and her brother, C.B. Sherry.

She lived most all her life in the Ravenwood, MO, area, and had graduated from the Guilford High School Guilford, MO. She was a member of the Ravenwood Christian Church, and a past member of the Gallagher Club, both of Ravenwood. She retired from Lloyd Chain Corporation, Maryville, MO, and had also been a cook at the Northeast Nodaway School, Ravenwood, MO.

On January 20, 1945, at the First Christian Church in Maryville, MO, Bonnie was united in marriage to James A. Dougan. He survives of the home.

Nellie Elrod, 88, died October 1, 1993 at the Bethesda Care Center in Clarinda.
She was born August 21, 1905 to William Marcellus and Dora Ellen Golay Walker at Clearmont, Mo. In 1931 she married Cecil Bert Elrod at Shenandoah. They lived in Elmo in the 1930s and 1940s where she was a telephone operator. In the 1950s they moved to Clarinda then to Glenwood and Council Bluffs. After the death of her husband she lived in Thurman and Tabor.
Survivors include daughters Mrs. Ora (Dora Loy) Smith, Jr., Tabor; Mrs. C.E. (Lois Joan) Lekey, Shenandoah; one son, Donald Grant Elrod, Randolph; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Iva May) Whipp, Wichita, Ks. and Irene Marie Fults, Clarinda.

Nellie Evans, 101, of Maryville, Mo. died September 23,1993 at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
She was born September 21,1892 to Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Sweargen. She attended two years of college and lived in the Clearmont area before moving to Maryville.
She was married to Floyd Evans who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons Theron Evans, Braddyville; Warren Evans, Burlington Junction and three daughters Neva Nicholas, Burlington Junction, Meredith Sherlock, Burlington Junction and Ruth Evans of Maryville, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patricia Louise (Ruhl) Farmer, 80, of Burlington Junction, MO, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014, at Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO, with her family at her side.

Patricia was born in Maryville, MO, on August 20, 1933, to Russell and Helen (Holt) Ruhl, who preceded her in death. She lived in the Burlington Junction, MO, area for most of her life.

She graduated from Horace Mann High School in Maryville in 1951. She retired as a cook after 28 years at Gray’s Truck Stop, Maryville, MO.

On May 12, 1956, Patricia was united in marriage to Arthur Henley Farmer. He passed away on May 1, 2011.

Patricia was a member of the Clearmont Baptist Church, Clearmont, MO, and a past member of the Shell Grove Club, Maryville, MO.

Her survivors include her children, Lynn (C.J.) Farmer, Burlington Junction, MO, Darlene Farmer, Burlington Junction, MO, Joyce Farmer, Maryville, MO, Bernie (Linda) Farmer, Quitman, MO, and Doris (Whitney) Davis, Savannah, MO; 3 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren; siblings, Cathy Wright, Quitman, MO, Russell Richard (Joanie) Ruhl, Spencerport, NY, and Rodger (Sue) Ruhl, Wilcox, MO; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Eldon George Fine, 86, of Maryville,Mo, died August 22,1993, at the Creston Nursing Home in Creston and his funeral was held Wednesday at the Price Funeral Home in Maryville. Burial was in the Clearmont Cemetery.
Fine was born to George and Carrie Shields Fine of Braddyville on June28,1907. He married Ivan Orlena Bush of Clearmont, Mo, on August 2, 1933, at St. Joseph, Mo.
He is survived by his wife, Ivan; three daughters, Patricia Zimmerman and husband Jerry of Omaha, Jody Emerson and husband Jeff of Creston and Judy Fine of St. Joseph; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Opal Michaels of Clarinda; two brothers, Stanley Fine and Wayne Fine of Braddyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Alma Whitney and Pauline Schmidt, and brother, Gerald Fine.

Eldon Fine was a car salesman at Maryville for 40 years and was honored by the Ford Motor Company for sales excellance. He was inducted in the 500 Ford Motor Club. She is a 1931 graduate of Clearmont High School and attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers' College in Maryville, Mo. She had been a sales clerk for Tobers Fashions, a home-maker and bookkeeper.
Fine was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maryville, Mo and taught Sunday school classes there. She was also a member of the Twentieth Century Club.
Her husband Eldon Fine and a sister Wilma Lenora Jones preceded her in death.

James Geary, Sr., 89, Maitland, Missouri died on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

James was born April 15, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of the late Samuel and Ethel (Samson) Geary. He was a graduate of Prescott High School, Prescott, Iowa.

James was united in marriage to Norma Ann Davis on June 28, 1953 in Afton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2010.

James was a farmer and a United States Navy Veteran of World War II.

His memberships included the Williamson American Legion Post #0719, Williamson, Iowa, Masonic Lodge, Prescott, Iowa and the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Creston, Iowa. James was of the Christian Faith.

Others preceding him in death were an infant son, Dallas Eldon Geary, three sisters Irene Wilkes, Lois Joanne Larson, and Edith Thomas; two brothers Melvin Geary and an infant brother Ronald D. Geary.

Survivors include son James (Helena) Geary, Jr., Springfield, Virginia, daughter Diane Cureton, grandson Steven Cureton and fiance' Rebecca Lane, all of Maitland; granddaughters Carol and Debra Geary, both of Springfield, Virginia; great grandson Hayden Lane, Maitland; a brother Kenneth Geary and sister Bonnie Glines, both of Odessa, Texas; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Geary's body has been cremated. Memorial services and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Hart, Frances Beatrice Lame - Frances Beatrice Hart, 85, Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at St Francis Hospital.

Fran was born April 12, 1928, in Bedison, Missouri to Jesse and Gladys Reynolds Lame.

She was a graduate of Grant City High School and earned her teaching certificate at Northwest Missouri State Teachers College. Before marriage she taught school and after marriage worked as an LPN

Fran married Leon Hart February 10, 1947, in Troy, Kansas. She was a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Leon Hart (November 14, 1999), daughter Elaine Glotfelty and son Alan Hart.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Vore, grandson Kelly Vore both of Maryville and four greatgrandchildren Derrick, Shelby, Dylan and Dawson Vore.

Mary Lou Hendrix, 86, of Bolckow, MO, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at her home in Bolckow.

Mary was born on June 22, 1927 in Barnard, MO, her parents were Earl and Osie (Thompson) Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arthur G. (Jack) Hendrix, and her brother, Edgar Williamson.

Mary had a good child hood with a great family and attended country schools. She married at an early age, and had moved back with her parents while her husband Jack was in World War II.

Mary was a lovely homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading, quilting, embroidery, music, flowers, and birds. Mary made and gave away many handmade quilts.

She was a wonderful cook, and all who knew her have unforgettable memories of great meals and good times. Everyone was welcomed.

Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother, noted for her smiles for everyone. She leaves a legacy in love, honesty, hard work, and a lifetime of helping and caring for others. She always went the extra mile. She made all Christmases and holidays special.

She worked at two different grocery stores in Bolckow for years, and later she worked for Shop-N-Hop at Midway, for 17 years. She was known for her friendliness, honesty and integrity. She retired at age 80.

Mary was rich in friends and love, and everyone loved her. She was a Christian, loved the Lord, and enjoyed going to church.

She leaves her children; daughter, Jacqueline McGuire, son, Larry (Millie) Hendrix, daughter, Sandra Potts, son, David Hendrix, all of Bolckow; sister, Vernelle Coburn, Albany, MO, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Antje was born on August 9, 1940, in Germany. Her parents were Bruno Peter Christian and Marianne Rennekamp (Ingling) Hensen. She came to the United States in her late teens, and later graduated from Columbia University in Manhattan, New York.

She was a computer programmer in the banking industry in New York City, and later was a computer consultant out of her home.

She is survived by her sister, Heidi J. Hensen, Maryville, MO; and other relatives in Germany.

Miss Hensen has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. No services are planned at this time.

Hilsabeck, Gary Max - Gary Max Hilsabeck, 74, Barnard, Missouri, died Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Saint Joseph.

Gary was born October 1, 1939, in Barnard to Ivan and Jessie Wohlford Hilsabeck. A graduate of South Nodaway High School, he married Marilyn Miller on May 14, 1960, in Barnard. Gary attended the Barnard United Methodist Church.

A meat cutter, he owned Hilsabeck Grocery in Barnard from 1965-1980 and retired from Easter's meat department in Maryville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ivelle, Courtney and Edwin Hilsabeck.

Surviving are his wife Marilyn Hilsabeck, three sons David (Mary Jo), Mike (Ragena), all of Barnard, and Doug (Nancy), Trenton, Missouri, two daughters Lisa (Rob) Downey, Blue Springs, Missouri and Lori (Bryan) Wiltse, Bothell, Washington; brother Alan Hilsabeck and sister Delores Shelton, both Maryville.

Harland Earl Hoyt, 54, of Quitman, Mo, died Thursday, July 1, 1993, at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Mo. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church, in Quitman on Monday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Quitman Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel, Burlington Junction, Mo.
Hoyt was born September 28 1938, in Oxford, Ne to Harold and Pauline McElroy Hoyt. He has lived in the Quitman area since he was a small child. Hoyt graduated from Quitman High School in 1956 and was a member of the United Methodist Church there. Survivors include his mother, Pauline Hoyt, Quitman, Mo; a son, David Hoyt, Burlington Junction; a daughter, Peggy Dowis, Maryville, Mo, a friend, Carmen Larabee, of home; three sisters, Sylvia Mclntrye, Burlington Junction; Shelia Gray, San Diego, Ca; and Sherry Camp, Albuquerque, NM; a foster sister, Virginia Zimmerman, Maryville, Mo; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Vincent Jermain, 53, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11,1995 at Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, Nv.
He was born at Conception Junction, Mo., to Benedict and Jessie Eimers Jermain. He graduated from Conception Junction High School in 1959.
He was a farmer. Jermain was a member of the St. Benedict's Catholic Church of Burlington Junction, Mo. He served with the Missouri National Guard at Maryville, Mo., after high school.
He married Genny Wilmes at Maryville on April 20,1963. She survives in the home. They moved to the Burlington Junction area in 1972 to farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Benedict Jermain, and three sisters, Annie Gerhards, Gertrude Wisdom and Sister Mary Catherine.
Jermain is survived by his wife, Genny, of the home; son, Kenny Jermain, Maryville; two daughters, Sheila Calfee and Julie Moore, both of Burlington Junction; two sons-in-law, Jim Calfee and Shane Moore; three grandchildren; three brothers, John Jermain and Raymond Jermain, both of Conception Junction; and Jim Jermain, Wathena, Ks.; three sisters, Margaret Burandt,West Des Moines; Rose Marie Jermain and Agnes Stoll, both of Stanberry, Mo.; nieces and nephews.

Charles Keats, 89, of Hopkins, Mo., died September 22,1993 at the Bedford Manor Nursing Home in Bedford.
He was born July 18, 1904 in Hopkins, Mo. to John and Carrie Adliza Coomer Keats. He attended Unity Country School east of Hopkins, Mo. On August 23, 1950 he was married to Frances Myers who survives.
He was a retired farmer and belong to the 60+ Club of Hopkins, Mo.
Survivors include his wife Frances of the home; one son, Dennis Ray Keats, Riverside, Ca.; two daughters, Kathy Colleen Keats, Omaha, Ne.; Marlene Gay Dean, El Dorado Springs, Mo. and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur and Galen and one sister Gladys Melvin.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Swanson-Price Chapel in Hopkins, Mo. with burial in the New Hope Cemetery in Hopkins. Rev. David Kaster officated the service.

Marjorie "Tillie" Kent, 59 of Elmo, Mo., died Friday evening, Sept. 23, 1994, at Maryville Health Care Center, Maryville, Mo.
She was born Dec. 2,1934, at Elmo to Arthur and Margaret Benham Alexander. She has lived most of her life in the Elmo area.
She graduated from the Elmo High School in 1952. She was a member of the Elmo United Methodist Church and the Bradley Carver American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a retired dietician and worked at the West Nodaway School for many years.
Mrs. Kent was married to Paul V. "Sonny" Kent, on Oct. 16, 1952, at Bentonville, Ar., and he survives in the home.
She is survived by her husband, Sonny, of the home; four children: Allen Kent, Elmo; Becky Brodrick, Maryville; Gary Kent, Hopkins, Mo.; and Kevin Kent, Elmo; three brothers, Melvin Alexander, Omaha, Ne.; Bill Alexander, Elmo; and James Alexander, Greeley, Co.; two sisters, Hazel Srulowitz, Sacramento, Ca.; and Dorothy Degase, Maryville; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Galen Alexander, Huck Alexander, Gib Alexander and Fred Alexander, and one sister, Lucille Glover.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Elmo. Burial was in LaMar Cemetery, Elmo.
The family has suggested that memorials to go to the Elmo City Park.

Koger, Beulah Sawyers

Beulah Sawyers-Koger, 102, Maryville, Missouri, was born in Nodaway County on April 6, 1911. She was the fourth child of her parents, Sarah Baker-Sawyers and Robert James Sawyers. Her brothers and sisters were Clyde Sawyers, Mary Hackett Sawyers, Gertrude Sawyers and Robert James Sawyers Jr. The family lived on a farm west of Maryville. Beulah attended country school and graduated from Maryville High School. She stayed with her Uncle John Sawyers while going to high school and college. She attended Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College for two years. She earned a 60 year life teaching certificate.

With her teaching certificate she was able to teach in rural country schools. She later went to Northwest Missouri State University and received a degree in elementary education. Beulah returned to teaching in 1948. She went to a town school and taught 1st through 3rd grades at Clearmont. She eventually moved on to Elmo, teaching second grade. During this time, a niece and nephew, Suzanne and Robert James Sawyers III, came to live.

She married Verlin Koger in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 7, 1940. They made their home on a farm near Pickering that originally belonged to Verlin's grandfather. After two years, they moved to the farm east of Clearmont that would become their own home for 46 years. In 1942, their first daughter, Marylyn was born and in 1944 Judyth Ann was born. Beulah became a stay-at-home mom for a few years.

Being a housewife, mother and teacher was not enough for Beulah. She decided to return to college and earn her degree in education. She earned her Bachelor's degree, graduating from Northwest Missouri State College in 1961. She continued to teach in the West Nodaway school system until 1975. Her teaching career spanned 34 years.

Through her life she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Maryville and then the United Methodist Church at Clearmont and then Maryville. She was in United Methodist Women when it was called Women's Society of Christian Service. She taught Sunday school for many years and helped in the summer-time with Bible School.

Beulah and Verlin enjoyed her retirement by traveling and playing pitch with friends and neighbors. She also pursued her hobbies of crocheting baby blankets and cross stitching quilts. Of course she belonged to a bridge club or two. When Verlin passed away in 1988, she moved to an apartment in Maryville, Missouri. Her family increased to include five grandchildren Johnna, Jerri, Jamie Wilcox, Kevin Haynes and Heidi Haynes-Pieroni; three great-grandchildren Tessa Keeney and Jake and Grayson Pieroni; one daughter, Marylyn and husband John Wilcox of Tarkio, nephew Robert James Sawyers.

Those who preceded her in death are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert James Sawyers, husband Verlin Koger (November 21, 1988), daughter Judyth Haynes (August 12, 2013), brothers Clyde and Robert Sawyers, sisters Mary Hackett and Gertrude Sawyers and niece Suzanne Sawyers.

There will be no formal visitation, however friends may call at the funeral home after 9:00 am Monday.

Geraldine "Geri" Langford, 75, of Elmo, Mo, died Thursday, July 8, 1993 at St Francis Hospital, Maryville, Mo.
Born July 22,1917 in Forest City, she was a homemaker and had lived in Elmo for the past 18 years.
She married Ralph L. Langford on December 4, 1944 in Forest City.
Mrs. Langford was a member of the Baptist Church in Clearmont, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister.
Survivors include: five sons, Wayne Smith, Gladstone; Jerry Lee Smith of Elmo; Roland Langford, Big Spring, Tx; Bob Langford, Big Spring, Tx; and Danny Langford, Elmo; two daughters.Marilyn Ruby, Iowa City and Barbara Keith, Burlington Junction; three brothers Earl Elder of Arizona; Dwight Elder of Bedford and Howard Elder of California; 20 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren.

Langley, Roger Neal - Roger Neal Langley, 53, Hopkins, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at his home in Hopkins.

Roger was born April 7, 1960, in Maryville, Missouri to Ivan and Kerlin Yvonne (Dougan) Langley.

A 1978 graduate of Maryville High School, he attended Vatterrott College and was a production lineman at Energizer Battery Corporation.

Preceding Roger in death were his father Ivan Langley and brother Michael Langley.

June (Ernst) Litsch of Utica, Mi, died June 26,1989, at a hospital in Rochester Hills, Mi.
She was born May 17, 1919 in Clarinda, the daughter of Lyman Ernst and Lucretia (Douglas) Ernst. On June 11, 1939, she was married to O.D. Litsch at Savannah, Mo. She was a retired teacher, having taught 30 years. She was a 1937 graduate of Clarinda High School and Wayne State University in Detroit, Mi. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.
Survivors include her husband, O.D. and a son, James of Liberty, Mo.

Mackey, Drexell E. - Drexell E Mackey, 77, passed away on February 10, 2014 at his rural Maryville, Missouri home. He was born March 15, 1936 in Hopkins, Missouri to Elmer and Inez (Wiseman) Mackey.

On July 11, 1956, he married Sherry Ryan in Maryville. Drexell attended several country schools, Toad Holler being his favorite. He graduated from Maryville High School in 1954 and attended Northwest Missouri State University.

Drexell was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. He was a dry cleaner, owning and operating Superior Laundry & Cleaners, later Fisher Cleaners and attended Wilcox United Methodist Church. Drexell was a life long musician, performing both professionally and jam sessions with family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife, parents, brother Russ Mackey, and grandson, Kaleb Juhl.

Moina "Laverne" Moore, 95, of Maryville, MO. passed away peacefully on February 13, 2014 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville.
Laverne was born in St. Louis, MO. on July 20, 1918, to Thomas Albert and Mahaley Eleanor (Harris) Wimbush. She lived most of her life in the St. Louis area, but lived several years as a child in Memphis, TN. She graduated high school in Memphis and Hadley Vocational School in St. Louis.
On May 29, 1954, she married Bradford Jay Moore in St. Louis, MO. They were married 48 years, until his death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Albert & George Wimbush; two sisters, Millicent & Thelma Wimbush; and son-in-law, Michael Gruenenfelder in 2003.
Laverne is survived by two daughters; Judy Gruenenfelder, Highland, Illinois and Barbara (Joe) Ledbetter, Maryville, Missouri; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer Kostedt, Stephanie (& Keith) Wallace, Sean Gruenenfelder, Jon (& Danielle) Ledbetter, Hollie (& Ryan) Hill and Jeff Ledbetter; and 7 great-grandchildren: RJ, Alex, Jackson & Mikayla Wallace, Austin Kostedt, Hunter Prestin and Reagynn Hill.
Laverne worked as the church secretary for First Baptist Church in St. John, MO. for many years before retiring in 1980. After retiring, they moved to Owensville, MO. where they lived for 22 years. Laverne was active in the Owensville Garden Club and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Throughout her life, she remained a faithful supporter of many charities including the Wounded Warrior Project and the Salvation Army. They attended New Salem Baptist Church & later First Baptist Church in Owensville.
Upon the death of her husband in 2002, she moved to Maryville, MO. near her daughter until her death. She attended Laura Street Baptist Church in Maryville.
Laverne was a loving, caring wife, mother & grandmother. She came to know Christ personally at a young age and lived out her full life as an example of Christ's love to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, but confident that she is living her eternal life in the presence of her Lord.

Martin M. Morrison Sr., 67, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 28,1994, at St. Francis Hospital, Mary ville, Mo.
He was born April 27, 1927, at Centralia, Ks., to Robert Taylor and Alice Myrtle Dodd Morrison. He has lived in the Tarkio, Centralia and Burlington Junction area of Missouri most of his life.
He worked as a John Deere mechanic until his retirement.
He was married to Ethel May Geyer, Dec. 24,1956, at their home in Tarkio, Mo.

Mike was born September 5, 1958, in Maryville, Missouri to William Lavern and Annabelle ( Peve) Morton.

A 1977 graduate of North Nodaway High School, Mike was a truckdriver for the MIKON Company, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Mike was a member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

Preceding in death were his father William LaVern "Bill" Morton (August 21, 2003), his grandparents, and a niece.

Julia Ann Partridge, 67, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014, at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.

Julia was born on August 8, 1946, in Maryville, to Charles and Mildred (Mayes) Partridge, Sr. She attended Maryville schools and was a resident most all her life and had spent a few years in Indiana.

Julia tended bar at T.O’s Place, and the Catalina Club, and was a waitress at Terry’s House of Heartburn. She attended Laura Street Baptist Church, and Calvary Chapel, and was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary, all of Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Charles (Buddy) Partridge, Jr., Jack Partridge, Sr., Thomas (Tommy) Partridge, and Lorraine (Sis) Holbrook; 2 nephews, Robert (Sonny) Holbrook, and Rocky Partridge.

Julia was separated from George (Junior) Ebrecht, but they were planning to renew their vows and relocated to Kentucky.

She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, also her great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Fanny Belle (Long) Peter 84, Skidmore, MO, went to join her beloved husband of 64 years on January 28, 2014, at the St .Francis Hospital, Maryville, MO.

Fanny was born on April 1, 1929, on the home farm southeast of Graham, MO, to Oliver W. and Mildred (Goff) Long. She attended the Barnes country school until 1940, when the family moved to their farm south of Quitman. She then attended the Quitman school where she excelled in all her classes and was active in sports and music. Fanny graduated from the Quitman High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1947. Later, she attended Northwest Missouri State College majoring in business and for 20 years was the office manager for Robbins Lightning Protection Co, Maryville, MO.

In July 1947, Fanny married Kenneth Saunders Peter of Skidmore, MO. They set up housekeeping in Skidmore but later moved to the tenant house on her dad’s farm and Kenneth helped with feeding cattle, operating the bulldozer, etc. They purchased the Peter home place farm northeast of Skidmore in 1952, where they lived and Fanny was secretary for the family business, The Peter Construction Company, until Kenneth’s death in 2012. Fanny continued to live on the farm until 2013 when she went to reside at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Fanny was not afraid to tackle the various tasks that were asked of her and was successful in her many endeavors. She enjoyed being involved in community activities and worked right alongside with her husband in many organizations. Over the years, Fanny was past officer of the Town & Country Saddle Club; member of the local Successful Club; past Republican Committeewoman of Monroe Township, Nodaway County; past president of the Nodaway County Federated Republic Women; past publicity chairman of the Skidmore “Punkin” show, after it started again in 1970; past Worthy Matron, and 50 year member of the Skidmore Chapter of the Eastern Star; member and past Children’s Superintendent of the Skidmore United Methodist Church; past Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack 68, Skidmore, MO; past member of the Business and Professional Women, Maryville; member of DAR; member of Skidmore Lions Club; and was an Auxiliary member of MLICA (Missouri Land Improvement Contractors).

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and sister Mary Elizabeth Velvick.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Wayne Peter, Civil Engineer with St. Joseph Herzog, Camden Point, MO, and Donald (Jessie) Allen Peter, (DVM), Hermiston, OR; three grandchildren, Melissa Peter, and Mikayla Peter, both of Gower, MO, and Joshuah (Meghan) Peter (Esq.); Three great grandchildren, Kyle, Kameron, and Lukas K. Peter; two step grandchildren, Ashley (Kurtis) Strzelewicz, and Jamie Simmons; six step great grandchildren; three sisters, Jessie Marie Jones-Smith, Olive Irene Smith, both of Maryville, MO, and Belva Dean Dawson, Quitman, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Reynolds, Barbara Reynolds - Barbara Reynolds, 70, Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Apple Ridge Care Center, Waverly, Missouri.

Barbara was born April 10, 1943, in Maryville, to Theodore "Ted" and Gertrude (Middleton) Reynolds.

A graduate of Maryville High School, she also attended Caster's Beauty School, St. Joseph, Missouri, and owned and operated Barbara's Beauty Shop, Maryville.

Barbara was a charter member of the Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville.

Preceding Barbara in death was her father Ted Reynolds.

Survivors include her mother Gertrude Reynolds, Independence, Missouri; siblings, Theodore "Ted" (Sharon) Reynolds, Jr., Saint Joseph, Missouri, sister Merilyn (Clinton) Durham, Ravenwood, Missouri, Bill (Elizabeth) Reynolds, Grain Valley, Missouri, and John (Lois) Reynolds, Kansas City, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Louise Shelton Schieber, 70, of Maryville, Missouri died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Betty was born March 21, 1943, in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of Truman and Virginia (Hardisty) Shelton. She was a graduate of West Nodaway High School in the class of 1961. Betty married Martin Leo Schieber on October 24, 1964 in Maryville, Missouri.

Betty received a BS degree in Education, a Masters in Administration, and an Education Specialist degree with Superintendent Certification from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville.

A Mother and Educator, Betty began her teaching career at Nodaway Holt and retired from the North Andrew School System as Elementary Principal. She was a member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, St Gregory’s Guild and BGO Women’s Club.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Martin, of their home; children: Steve (Kittie Jane) Schieber, Savannah, Missouri; Tim (Traci) Schieber, Hamilton, Missouri; Julie (Warren) McConkey, Guilford, Missouri and Marla (Cory) McAlpin, Villisca, Iowa. Anita Shell, 78, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2013, in Maryville.

Anita was born in Maryville, MO, on January 25, 1935. Her parents were Audra and Edith Viola (Baker) Williams. She had lived most all her life in the Maryville area.

Anita was a graduate of the Horace Mann High School, and took classes at Northwest Missouri State Teacher College, both of Maryville, MO. On December 4, 1951, Anita was united in marriage at the Maryville First Christian Church, to Raymond Marshall Shell. Raymond passed away on March 13, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Anita was a member and attended the First Christian Church, Maryville, MO. A member of the Maryville Chapter of the D.A.R.; volunteered for the American Red Cross; and had spent time volunteering with the cleanup after Hurricane Katrina, in Louisiana. She had worked at the family service station, doing the books for 56 years.

Anita loved to play bridge; she loved traveling, and was a world traveler. She loved fishing in Canada; had sailed to Alaska, been to Europe, to China, spent many summers in the Ozarks, Hawaii, and recently been to New England.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Deborah Shell, Overland Park, KS, Sheila (Paul) Christiansen, Overland Park, KS, and Marshall (Cara) Shell, Maryville, MO; brother, Audra L. “Bud” and Bonnie Jean (Bowman) Williams, Iowa City, IA; 5 grandchildren, Carri Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO, Jonathan Ferguson, Kansas City, MO, Trevor Shell, Megan Shell, and Trenton Shell, all of Maryville, MO; 3 great grandchildren, Parker Day Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO, Matthew Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO, and Jacob Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO; nieces and nephews, Steve Williams, Kathy Haynes, Wayne Williams, John Williams, all of Iowa; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Dale L. Short, 76 of Burlington Junction, Mo., died Monday morning, Dec. 19, 1994 at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Mo.
He was born July 11, 1918 in Burlington Junction and has lived his entire life in the Burlington Junction community. He was the son of Joseph and Daisy Miller Short.
Short was a self-employed trucker and farmer before his retirement. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Burlington Junction and a member of the Rolla Dicks Post 315 American Legion.
He married Lois Hamilton, June 30, 1991 at Burlington Junction and she survives in the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clyde Short.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; four step children, Krishna and Edward Cross, Hopkins, Mo.; DavidHamilton, Downsville, La.; Leon and Valerie Hamilton and Jana Mathers, Burlington Junction. A sister-in-law, Virginia Short, Burlington Junction, and seven step grandchildren also survive.
Funeral servies will be Friday, Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel, Burlington Junction. Burial will be at the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Barr-Merrick Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Steinhauser was born Jan. 28, 1903 at Clyde, Mo., and died Feb. 5, 1972 at Omaha.

Stiens, John O. - John O Stiens, 67, of Maryville, Missouri died Wednesday, February 19, at his home.

John was born August 16, 1946, in Maryville, the son of Edward Herman and Frieda Elsie (Jenkins) Stiens.

John was a member of St Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Community and attended Maryville High School, in Maryville. On August 19, 1967, he married Sandra Kathryn Manning.

John worked for the City of Maryville for many years, was sexton of the Oak Hill Cemetery, and worked in the Water and Sewer for the City of Maryville.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother: Francis Stiens.

Survivors include his wife: Sandra, of their home; sons: Scott Stiens, Burlington Junction, Missouri, Joshua (April) Stiens, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jeremiah Stiens, Maryville; daughters: Terri Gaa, Leawood, Kansas; and Angela (Greg) Byers, Maryville; eight grand-children; brothers: Joseph Stiens, Maryville; Bill Stiens, Skidmore, Missouri and Tom Stiens, Maryville; sisters: Mary Katherine Watowa, Maryville and Florence Belcher, St Joseph, Missouri.

Charlene Dorothy Teson, 80, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Clyde Missouri, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Parkdale Manor Care Center, Maryville.

Charlene was born November 1, 1933, in Clyde, Missouri to Charles Alexis and Anna Teresa (Zirfas)Teson.

Charlene attended St. Benedict's High School, Clyde and was provided a home by her brothers and sisters after the death of her parents.

Charlene was a member of St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Community, Maryville.

Preceding her in death were her parents, six brothers: Alfred, Paul, Leo, Robert, Norbert and Richard Teson; four sisters Amelia Teson, Beatrice Schieber, Rita Schieber, and Sister Charlene Teson, FSM.

Her survivors include nieces and nephews.

William A. “Rube” Turner, 85, of Hopkins, MO, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at the Parkdale Manor Nursing Home in Maryville, MO, with his family at his side. Rube was born on June 20, 1928, in the family farm house north of Hopkins, MO, to Galen “Red” and Esther Bebout Turner.
Rube graduated from Hopkins High School in 1946, and was privileged to play on the high school basketball team that won the Missouri state basketball championship. After graduation, Rube and his father “Red” farmed together.
Rube and Doris Louise Hinton, of Pickering, MO, were married in 1950. She preceded him in death in 1952. Rube later went to serve in the US Army, and was stationed in Korea. During his time in Korea, he was an engineer in the 809th E.A.B. (Engineering Army Battalion).
Rube married Ruby Naomi Stephens of Bedford, IA, on February 14, 1956, at the home of her parents, Cecil and Martha Stephens, northwest of Bedford, IA.
Rube was an active member of the First Christian Church of Hopkins; there he served many years as a deacon, elder, and chairman of the church board. Rube was able to share his faith by taking communion to the elderly and shut-ins.
It is said, “If you love your job, you never work a day in your life.” He was proud to call himself a farmer. Rube was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and an inspiration and friend to many in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Galen “Red” and Esther Turner; sister, Mary Alice Turner Rybolt, and husband Bill; sister in law, Beverly Litsch Turner; his daughter, Lora Turner Fisher; and son in law, Phil Henggeler.
Rube is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home; children, Steve (Roberta) Turner, Hopkins, Gail Henggeler, Pickering, MO, John (Wendy) Turner, Maryville, and James Turner, Maryville; 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Turner, Royal Oaks, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rube’s desire was to donate his body to medical science.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the First Christian Church, Hopkins, MO. The minister will be Bishop Fritz Mutti. Following the service, on the grounds of the church, military honors will be performed.

Eleanor D. Wall, 93, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Eleanor was born in Kansas City, MO, on December 25, 1920. Her parents were Andrew and Jant (Brown) Clarkson. She was married to Edmund Wesley Wall, he passed away in 1987. She was also preceded by her parents; her daughter Deborah Wall in 2011; and brother, Bill Clarkson; and sister, Agnes Aron's.

Eleanor was a homemaker, and a member of the Protestant faith.

Left to mourn her pass is her granddaughter, Adrienne (Patrick) Cleasby, and nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 24, 2014, at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. No formal visitation is planned.

Barney Ray Wallace, age 77, passed away Monday, March 11, 1996, at Heartland East. Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born September 8, 1918, in Maryville to Ida (Hopkins) and Orville Wallace. He spent his lifetime in the Maryville area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On July 21,1955, Barney was united in marriage to Joyce Helen Graham in Maryville. Barney was owner/operator of his own trash hauling business for 30 years.
Survivors include: two daughters, Jan Shimak, Graham, Missouri, and Gwendolyn Wallace, Maryville; one son, Marvin Chubick, Maryville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Raymond Wallace, Tarkio; two sisters, Lucille Wallace Hodge, Tarkio, and Ann Wallace Lane, Riverside, California; and many nieces and nephews. Kathryn (Kay) Louise Collins Watkins, 85, joined the Lord surrounded by her family January 18, 2014. Born to Arthur and Mildred Collins (Elliott) on the family farm east of Trenton, Missouri, she graduated from Trenton High School in 1946 and attended Fayette College in Fayette, Missouri.

Kay married Louis (Lou) C. Watkins of Trenton on January 26, 1947. To this union were born seven children: Greg (Gayle), Hurst, Texas; David (Linda), Blaine, Minnesota; Mark (Carol), Maryville; Linda Akins, Maryville; Lori Wymore (Mark), Liberty, Missouri, Lisa Watkins, Maryville, Missouri; and Lanette Grubb (Jeff), St. Joseph, Missouri.

After they married they moved to Maryville, where Louis graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College. In 1948 they moved to Newton, Iowa, where Kay was the organist at the First Baptist Church. They moved to Maryville in 1957 where they opened Watkins True Value Hardware.

Kay’s love for the Lord led her to assume many active roles in her church. She was the local area president of the Women’s Missionary Union, leader of the Girls in Action, vacation Bible school leader, Sunday school teacher, pianist and organist, and organizer of the International Students Banquet. She also assumed the role of Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts. While doing all of these things she also supported Lou working in the hardware.

Kay always had an open heart and an open home to the family and the community, providing a constant Christ-like example to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Collins, and son-in-law Gary Kirtley. She is survived by her husband Lou, 7 children, 55 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and brother Donald and his wife Dee.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 21, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, Maryville.

Mrs. Gary (Joy) Webb, 50, of Clarinda died on August 24,1993 at Methodist Medical Center in Omaha after a brief illness. Webb was born October 9,1942 at Corning, the daughter of Ernest and Anna Simmons Cross. On March 31,1961 she was married to Gary Webb who survives. She had worked at the Clarinda Company for many years.

Jason Theodore White, 45, of Maryville, MO passed from this life unexpectedly on Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Maryville from complications of appendectomy surgery.

Jason was born on October 4, 1968, in Kansas City, MO. He attended grammar school and graduated from Raytown High School in 1987, and came to Maryville to attend Northwest Missouri State University.

Jason was in the National Honor Society in school and a highly accomplished scholarship track and cross country athlete, who served as Team Captains of both his high school and college teams. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop #269 and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say at Camp Geiger.

Jason received his BS in Finance from NWMSU (cum laude) in 1991. He received his MBA from Rockhurst University (magna cum laude) and in 2003, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (summa cum laude). Jason was an Associate Professor Tenured at NWMSU (MBA and undergraduate teaching courses) since 1999.

He was also a Principal/Director of Investments at the Family Investment Center, in St. Joseph, MO. He was formerly the City Financial Analyst for Kansas City, MO. We are all proud of his multiple published articles in financial magazines, including "Business Week."

Besides being chosen as a recipient for the 2007 Missouri Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Jason also had received many honors and awards over the years. Some of those include the 2009 Sam Walton Free Enterprise Fellow; 2009 Jason was the youngest recipient ever inducted in the Raytown High School Hall of Fame; 2009 Kauffman Foundation Global Entrepreneurship Week Partner; 2006 Northwest Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Award; 2005 Northwest Booth College of Business Dean's Research Excellence Award; and the 2003 Southern Economics Association Teaching Excellence (Ken Elzinga) Award, to name just a few.

On December 14, 1991, Jason was united in marriage to Suzanne "Suzi" (Miles) White of the home; surviving children, Sierra Alizabeth White and Jason Theodore "Jake" White, II; his mother, Sandra Lea (Metcalfe) White, Kansas City, MO; and his brother, Sean Jeffrey and wife, Anne Christenson-White, Arlington, VA.

Jason accomplished so very much during his short life. Jason was the "Light and love of our lives" and he will be sincerely missed by us all.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 3, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville. Pastor Scott Moon will be the minister. Cremation is planned.

Family will receive friends on Monday at 1:00 PM at the church, just prior to the services.

Bill was born on March 31, 1923, in Allendale, MO. His parents were Bertie Everett and Opal Viola (Warner) Wilkinson; they preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by an infant son; a grandson, Timothy Daniel Parman; and 5 brothers, Rex, Ray, Ralph, Ross, and Park Wilkinson. Bill was baptized and a member of the Christian Church in Grant City, MO. He was a member of the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, Maryville, MO. Bill loved to trap shoot and was a member of both the Missouri Trap Shooters Assn. and the National Trap Shooters Assn. He also loved to fish and hunt.

He was honorably discharged as a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War.

On December 7, 1950, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Lucille Frazier at the Albany Christian Church. They have resided in Maryville the past 10 years and previously lived in Grant City. They lived in other areas as Bill pursued his career as a heavy equipment mechanic through the Operating Engineers Local 101, St. Joseph, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; three daughters, Pam (Dan) Parman, Denver, MO, Carolyn (Mike) Hardy, Maryville, MO, and Linda Guess, Maryville, MO; grandchildren, Keven Parman and Jayla, Kortnee (Cody) Blankenship, Tonya Hardy, Tony (Amy) Hardy, Tylor (Allison) Hardy, Ryan Guess, Keaton Guess, Jaclyn Guess, and Aislinn Johnson; great grandchildren, Tanner and Wyatt Parman, Addison and Bella Blankenship, Colton and Paige Hardy, and Milo Hardy; one sister, Auda (Eddie) Costin, Grant City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilkinson has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Health Hands of Hope Hospice.

Private family memorial service will at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Allendale Missouri Cemetery.

Military services at the cemetery will be by members of the Missouri Military Honors Detail, and members of the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, Maryville, MO

Marguerite M. Young, 88, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the Nodaway Nursing Home in Maryville, surrounded by family.

Marguerite was born on January 16, 1926 in Moberly, MO; to John Frederick and Hannah (Wink) Gutekunst. She was a graduate of Moberly High School, and Moberly Junior College.

On September 12, 1948, at Trinity Methodist Church in Moberly, Marguerite was united in marriage to Vilas Earl Young. They spent over 65 years together until her death.

Marguerite and Vilas moved to Maryville in 1964, and had previously lived in Ridgeway and Gallatin, MO. She was a homemaker, and so much more. Marguerite was a member of the First Christian Church, Maryville, MO. She loved her church family, and was a tireless volunteer who spent countless hours maintaining the church kitchen, organizing rummage sales, was a member of the Mary & Martha Circle, and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was one of the first female presidents of the Church Board. In the community, she delivered Meals on Wheels, helped at the Ministry Center, was a member of the Good Neighbor Club while living in Ridgeway; the NoCoMo and Young Economist's Extension Clubs in Nodaway County, was a 4-H Leader, and had been active in the PTA at both Maryville and Gallatin, MO.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Young; sisters Jean Powell-Fultz (her twin), Mary Palmatary, and brother, John Gutekunst, Jr.

She is survived by husband Vilas Young, of the home in Maryville, their children, Anita (Jerry) Dew, Maryville, Jan (Jim) Meyer, Ankeny, IA, Nina (Paul) Nickerson, Maryville, Ellen (Bob) Ferguson, Maryville, Nancy (Paul) Costello, Liberty, MO, and Dr. Eric (Nanette) Young, Ft. Collins, CO; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Young’s body had been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the First Christian Church, Maryville.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the First Christian Church, Maryville, with the Rev. Dale Stewart officiating. Inurnment will be in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville, at a later date. Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri.
